SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

The gallery features what will someday be a collection of Pathfinder trophies, but there isn't much to show off yet. The only item currently on display is a statue depicting a marid named Perizia, whose defeat by Pathfinder agents secured permission to build this lodge. Esmayl commissioned this piece in memorial of the battle, though he also hopes the public display reminds Sedeq’s genie binders how easily their cruelty can be repaid.

You move on to the Prayer Hall. You hear… singing from within. It has the cadence of a dirty limerick.

You open the doors. The life-sized wooden statue of Saernrae is arms outstretched, is singing a blasphemous ballad about the goddess's lovers Desna and Shelyn, and the sorts of things they get up to during a weekend bender with Cayden Cailean. Only the. statue's mouth moves.

A tall man with ash-gray skin stands at the altar staring at the bawdy statue. His cold, silver eyes are and his shoulders are tense with barely contained anger. Sarenrae’s holy symbol dangles prominently from the chain around his neck.

Detect Magic or Read Aura:
You notice a rune on the back of the statue's neck.

DC 16 Perception to Seek:
You notice a rune on the back of the statue's neck.

Succeeding at either of the above checks:

First, you must make a DC C 15 acrobatics check to climb the statue

Second, Dc 20 crafting or thievery to disable the statue.

There may be other solutions, such as Dispel magic or breaking the rune (and possibly the statue)

and Desna and Shelyn they kissed her just right!

He drops down on all fours and quickly scampers onto one of the pews and then leaps onto the statues base where his claws scrape for any affordable surface to get to the neck. Once there he licks his paw and tries rubbing the rune out before etching it with his blade.

Scerzaq climbs the statue; a flea leaps into the mouth before he shuts off the rune.

Agdal looks at the rest of you while Scerzaq climbs this statue. The severe duskwalker is unhappy indeed. What is the meaning of this?

You can calm him with a DC 18 perform check, religion, or DC 13 Sarenrae lore check.

Agdal cannot help but smile at Flamel's antics. Perhaps there's a teddy ear underneath that stern exterior.

Well sung, Pathfinder. That is a more worthy lyric.

He sighs with relief as the statue's singing ends. What is happening here? I came here to bask in the solace of The Everlight. Instead, I was exposed to blasphemy. But perhaps I do not fully grasp the situation, like the Dawnflower herself when she smote Gormuz with her scimitar. Please, explain this.

His attitude is now indifferent. You can improve it with a DC 18 Make an Impression check (usually diplomacy), or DC 20 Religion or Society check

Ahh. Qadira is a land of strange and unpredictable occurrences! It was wrong of me to jump to conclusions. I must go meditate on this in private.

He turns his icy eyes to Haggra. You need not report to me, Pathfinder; you can restore order to your own house, no? Remember two things: first, Sarenrae preaches redemption. This is the ultimate victory. Second, if that fails, make your justice swift and sharp as a scimitar's blade! He draws a beautiful scimitar whose golden hilt is adorned with the Dawnflower's symbol and lays it upon the altar; runes glitter along its edge. +1 striking cimitar

Either way, bring justice to your house.

With that, he turns and walks out of the chapel.

Scerzaq sips on one of the lesser bravo brews as Haggra explains what is going on. Once the bottle is gone he slips down the back of the statue, landing on his feet as he sets the bottle down into the side of the pew.

You move on to the meeting room. It's empty, set up for the rampaging roast feast later.

In the lounge, a group forms a rough cluster near the center of the room, clearly tipsy from the drinks provided. A young sylph elf whose wispy, sunset-colored hair floats around his head seems to be performing some sort of mime routine. Certainly, his friends seem to take it that way, egging him on as he presses his hands flat against nothing, feeling out the shape of the invisible box pressing in on him from all sides. To the slightly less inebriated eye, however, the expression on the young elf’s face is clearly not one of amusement. His floating hair drips with sweat from barely-controlled panic. His stance is rigid, his chest heaves, and his knees begin to shake. Whatever he thinks is happening to him, it must feel very, very real.

After a brief inspection you can tell this is an illusion. Likely Safa set up a little trap, but this person may have a a severe imprisonment phobia.

Distracting the Guests You will first have to distract the drunk guests to get them away from Khayrat. Whoever makes this check will be tied up with the guests while others free him. Suggested skills are DC 15 Deception, Performance, or Society. Feel free to ssell me on something else if you want as well!

Seeing that there's an issue, and that he probably will be inept with actually calming the shaken elf, Haggra steps forward with some quick thinking.

"I hear the spread that's being put on is going to be extraordinary. Especially the roast! Prime cuts go fast, so you all may want to get into line now if you want the best tidbits!"

Oooh! I heard some kerfluffle in the kitchen. I'm so happy it turned out!

While Haggra does an amazing job giving Khayrat's entourage a big case of the drunk munchies, the rest of you can try to free him of this illusion!

DC 19 Arcana or Occultism, medicine, diplomacy are all standard options, in addition to any creative solutions, you may have to help someone disbelieve an illusion.

You will need more than one check to free him.

Dramat glass only confuses the sylph. Scerzaq succeeds at calming the wisp a bit.

Aurika's efforts likewise fall short and Haggra must make another society check to keep the others entertained as time goes by. Mint can then try to free Khayrat! Go ahead and post asynchronously; both checks need to succeed.

The sylph steps free of the invisible trap and whispers to Mint and Scerzaq. Thank you. That was some weird trap! I'd be so humilated if they knew how afraid I was. Play along!

Hahah, the Pathfinders here helped bring my little joke to a close. Khayrat takes a bow and his drink friends toast. I thought you were really gonna faint for a minute in there. HA

Yes… ha. ha. ha. The sylph's sweat-drenched hair wilts as it moves in an invisible breeze.

He turnes to your group. I won't forget this, pathidners. Take these. he hands you a Ladder feather token, and three minor healing potions.

Khayrat starts to say something, and then his skin turns ash-grey. His blue eyes turn to the color of dust. He looks confused as he fades away into nothing; you hear a faint echo as he asks his friends Uhhh… Where'd they go!?…

The color bleeds out of everything, from the potted plants in the corner to the banners on the wall. The color of every surface and object is muted. Outside the window is a featureless landscape stretching in all directions. No Sedeq, nothing.

The lodge is silent as a grave. Empty. Everyone has vanished.

Cruel mocking laughter reverberates through the empty halls.

"HAHAHA! AAAHAHAHAHA!"

A nasal ivoice embarks upon a long megalomaniacal diatribe — with no apparent source, there is nothing you can do but listen to the ravings:"Paaaaathfinders! Your DESPERATE attempts to secure allies are DISGUSTING! Such PATHETIC fools! You have no place in MY CITY! If you were truly STRONG, as I am, you would not NEED allies at all—you would COMMAND SERVANTS to do your bidding! HAHAHAH!"

"I, FASIEL IBN SAZADIN, have become a GENIE BINDER, in SPITE of the Society’s meddling! I shall soon be MASTER of Sedeq, and I shall start by ELIMINATING YOU!”

“SAFA, I COMMAND you! BRING ME TO THE BATTLEFIELD!”

Safa appears above the fountain, hovering with their head tilted to one side as they consider the command. “Of course, Fasiel. As you wish.”

YES! HAHAHAHA! Oh — ow!" You hear clattering inside the maintenance closet. The door flies open and a mop falls out. It is followed by a man kicking a bucket off his foot. He wears the garb of a Qadiran aristocrat, and his two antlers protrude awkwardly from his lopsided hat. His face is a deep, unnatural red. He shouts,

“No matter! SAFA!!! Summon a POWERFUL minion for me, then STAY BACK! I’ll show these Pathfinders MYSELF what it means to be a TRUE genie binder!! AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Safa furrows their brow, then grins. “A minion. Of course your favorite kind.” Safa weaves magic through the air. A gout of flames roars up from the fountain, and a muscular, twelve-foot-tall horned woman with flaming red skin and smoldering eyes steps forward. Fresh bits of charred flesh cling to her flaming scimitar. “You dare to summon me, Safa?! Shouldn’t you still be skulking about in the ether?! Explain. Now. Or die.”

Safa shrugs, points at Fasiel, and says, “He did it.”

Fasiel shouts, “MARVELOUS! Yes, it is I, FASIEL IBN SAZADIN, who COMMANDS you! Efreeti, obey my—”

The flaming woman screams in irritation, cutting off Fasiel’s words. “Shut up, skelm! You disgust me. I have no time for this—Safa, don’t ever do that again!”

With another roar of flames, the efreeti is gone — and creatures of fire and steam tumble out of the fountain. One of them liiks liek a rat made of fire; it's surrounded by an aura of fumes. The other two look like beings made of steam, they flit about.
