Kriznox Haab |

Ok, I've got a few ideas to run by you, DeJoker. Lemme know what you think.
Name: Andrew Royce
Code Name: Maelstrom
Mutant Power: Kinetic Absorbtion (Which somehow filters the energy to be absorbed through a Ley Line before instantly transfering back to him as health) A side effect of the power is the fact that Andrew's skin now has an pale violet color to it and is partially desensitized to the sensation of touch. He barely feels things like gentle touches, kisses, or hugs from those around him. While he can tell his skin is in contact with something, it takes a hard impact for him to really feel it.
Mystic Power(s): Ley Line connection (As you so eloquently described above) Gravity will allow Flight at Incredible rank as a power stunt and Magnetic Manipulation will have the standard "control metal" stunt to start with.
Medicine Skill: Radiation Biologist Technician, Stanford Medicine
(Program members investigate new ways to enhance the efficacy of radiotherapy by targeting the tumor microenvironment, protecting normal tissue from radiation toxicity, and developing new technology to deliver radiation in a focused manner at high speed.) Andrew was/is going to school to try and understand how energy itself affects his cells and metabolism. While he has done well in his classes, thus far, it's been a rather failed experiment. He really doesn't understand his powers that much better than before he started.
Archeology Contact: January Smythe, the adventurous young woman who introduced him to the very concept that his powers might somehow be linked in a Mystic manner. (Archeologist/Smuggler/Blackmarket dealer in magical artifacts? (Not sure what dimension/pantheon/etc to link it to just yet, but I'm more than open to ideas. Or better yet, YOU can tell me as the story progresses if he starts to learn it as we go.)

DeJoker |

Kriznox Haab sounds like a viable story line but I will have to check with the others that have an Archeoligist contact if they will be okay with this one -- I do not have problem with it and it could very easily tie into the other two characters I am hoping to pull together with some shared background and purpose.

GM SuperTumbler |

However that does not fully cover things so maybe we can play on his strengths to improve his weaknesses. Let us change Martial Arts E to Martial Arts Q
Marital Arts Q : This form of martial arts is keyed to speed and nimbleness. The practioner of this form of martial arts averages their Agility with their Fighting and their Agility with their Strength. To determine their final Fighting and Strength scores when it comes to unarmed combat.
This would give your character a Fighting(20) Excellent and a Strength(26) Remarkable further this Martial Arts style does not help most other individuals all that much should someone else learn how to use it since its key is having a superhuman level of Agility. Further it actually does adhere to various concepts of Martial Arts as one of Bruce Lee's greatest abilities was his incredible speed so fast that they had to ask him to slow his attacks down so they could catch them on the camera.
Next I am going to offer you a deal instead of trying to meld your Energy Control, Resistance, and Matter Control into a sensible package I had this idea let us replace Energy Control and Matter Control with Invulnerability to Physical Attacks/Kinetic as this would then make this character look like this
Power-1 Invulnerability (Class 1000)
Power-2 Physical Attacks/Kinetic
Power-3 Magical Attacks
This would then explain why his Fighting Skill was/is so bad and all the training he got in martial arts later on was meant to help him do better in fights. However, he is still mostly operating off of raw talent rather than actual skill in fighting. This would make him a rather unique kind of very deceptive power house... well almost. I mean he could take a solid hit without it hurting.
Now interestingly enough, he also has Archeology and with Invulnerability to Magic that would seem to play into those other to two characters rather nicely. So perhaps you all have been working together. Further maybe his powers are a mutant ability to harness magical energies in some unknown way this would allow for expansion on that concept later on as he learns more about the underlaying source of his powers and how to harness it for other things.
Thoughts?
I like where that is headed. There is a Marvel character called Butterball who might provide some inspiration.
Mutants tend to get their powers at adolescence. So what if his mutant power enhances his intrinsic field. Essentially, he can't be changed physically. So he is still in the body of a 13 year old (explains the lack of strength). The physical world just can't change him, but he also can't change himself by eating right or working out. Scrawny kid forever.
For the immunity to magic, what if that is a two edged sword? He can't be affected by magic or affect magic in any way. Maybe that is too powerful. Depends on the campaign, but maybe too much of a headache.
I couldn't find a source for Martial Arts Q, but that definitely sounds great.
I can think of lots of ways for him to be weirdly useful, and with the Martial arts he will be reasonably useful in a fight.

Esteban "Bantha" |

Esteban "Bantha" I would have to see the character but I am going to guess unless you can share your original rolls you would have to do the rolls all over again as my charts are not even the same as the basic charts as I removed anything that was basically a limitation of another power.
There were no rolls. He was designed per the instructions of that Judge. I will roll using your method, certainly.

Lapyd |

I just rolled here - I wrote:
(open)dice=What mystic contact?(close)1d4(open)/dice(close)
Using open and close for square brackets. Sorry, I'm still kind of learning this forum! I rolled the d4 because you asked me by PMs :)
So - I know that "Maelstrom" is my other colleague with something "mystic" about him, and then there's someone else. I think we can tie our backgrounds (especially the archaeology angle) to create links for us before the game starts!
Let's talk more about it. My character (Anna) is all about Darkforce and mystic/norse mythology-related stuff.

DeJoker |

Well interestingly enough your Norse mythology is a bit wider spread than that I will give you some more input on that a bit later as the 3 of you get more acquainted Lapyd suggested I open a discussion for this kind of stuff and I will give that a whirl but to clear things up the 3 folks I am talking about in regards to Lapyd are GM SuperTumbler and Kiznox Haab

DeJoker |

Look folks just so you know I am basically waiting on you all to finish up your characters and when I get enough to start an Episode I will get things underway and those who are still working on their characters can do just that.
Note if you not experienced it yet I work with every player to help them create a character that will fit into the current world paradigm thus helping you gain that 3rd dimension that most games lack.
Also keep in mind I am doing a multiplier of the work you are doing as I do this with every player and you only usually do this for yourself. Although perhaps some of you might start collaborating and making my job easier ;)
But again waiting on you all in order to move things forward.

DeJoker |

Yes GM SuperTumbler I saw your previous post but did not realize there were any questions as they all looked like statements.
Clause one sounds like a good explanation
As for the immunity being a two edged sword -- sounds like an interesting flaw.
You will not find a source for Martial Arts Q because it is something I provided for you for this particular situation.
So it seems you are okay with the concept as I presented it to you, so please discuss with the other two players in the Discussion thread perhaps some things in order to get a better footing when I drop the three you into the mix. I will be watching and commenting myself.

DeJoker |

I fully support player interaction and bouncing ideas off one another but also keep in mind that some of you have PM'd me so not everyone is privvy to the information I have shared with each of you separately.
.
That being said if you keep your discussions somewhere I can see them that will help a lot in helping me keep things on track with what I have cooking and...
.
Can you smell what the Storyteller has cooking!

Lapyd |

@FreeRadical there's also Marrow to think about. With shapeshifting and growing extra body parts, you could think on something like an ape-hedgehog sort of creature that climbed around and used a rudimentary bow of sorts to shoot spikes he pulls from his own body!
You could also think about a insect-like appearance instead, or even come out with a story on how your character's DNA is mixed with the Brood's giving the ability to shift in a creature like that (lol you can also even look at Mutant Brood).

DeJoker |

My first envisionment when I looked at this power set was someone fluidly moving through a complex maze of piping and such while at the same time firing shots off with the bow. So two appendages for firing the bow and maybe like four fluid appendages for movement and a body that adjusted to allow easier movement through tight spots. So basically not a solid single shape but more of a fluid shape sort of like Elasticity without being actually elastic.

DeJoker |

Thanks for the heads up and a day or two in PbP is about how long it takes someone to blink ;) so rest assured if I do move things forward you will definitely not get left behind.
With that said I do plan to get something started here soon, just kind of waiting on the players to finalize up their character concepts so that we can work on the aesthetics stuff that melds them more firmly into the world so that you are not all just a bunch of stranges meeting in a pizza joint and suddenly decide to become a superhero group ;)

My previous character, Bantha, had Iron Will, which I liked. The other interesting dichotomy is that I have all melee attacks, but low Fighting and high Agility. Could we flip-flop those?

Okay a question came up and since I agree that everyone not being able to speak a common language would make things difficult here is what I am going to do.
Everyone knows how to speak a dialet of English be it English-Scottish, English-English, English-American, etc... but please denote the sub-dialect of English that your character knows
Further everyone gets a background language and it should some how be in line with your background which I do hope everybody is putting one together.

Kriznox Haab |

Back, but sadly, lacking in both time and motivation. It's been an exhausting and depressing week.
I think that for expediency's sake, I'm going to back out of this one. Sorry. Just can't do this right now.
DeJoker, feel free to use my rolls for Maelstrom for an NPC, a baddie, or to hand him off to someone else if you'd like. He's got potential.

DeJoker |

Okay I am curious no one has posted to the Gameplay finalization thread I know I need to work a few things out with various players but knowing who might feel they are close to starting would also be helpful in me getting this thing launched.
If you feel you are not to the point, such as with Shadow Scalar and Esteban "Bantha" please do let me know as I am just one person and I am currently juggling RL and the launching of two unrelated games.
