GM Farol |

This is a discussion thread for 3-10 Delve the Pallid Depths run as part of Outpost V. The recruitment for that game is managed by the Outpost V spreadsheet and only players that sign up there, should post and dot to this campaign.
Few things about myself:
- I still see myself as a beginning GM, I will try to make the games fun for both you and myself.
- I will post once per workday and expect the same from you, I will try to post at least 1 during the weekend, but this is subject to other duties. There could be times when I end up posting more than 1-time per day, but I will not push the story faster than that.
- I expect this to be a nice and friendly game.
I will create a presentation, macro sheet, and RPG chronicles link later on for you to fill.

GM Farol |

Before we all start the game we need to cover a few things:
- In the campaign header I added a couple of links:
- Slides - please head to slide 3 and provide an avatar for your PC, please make them round as bad guys and NPC's will have square ones.
- Macro sheet- please fill it in for the secret checks, it aids me getting your modifiers whenever I need them as well as rolls for initiative
- RPGChronicles - this I will use to generate the chronicles after the game, since the reporting happens via the Outpost reporting sheet, I will take information from there, please make sure that it is correct.
I am almost certain that you have enough glyphs to make everyone start with 2 hero points, but please say how many glyphs do you have.
Every 1,5-2 weeks I will be giving Hero Points, I try to track it in a presentation to remind myself as well as to serve as a tracking tool who got it and for what.
Since we are playing high tier, please also provide what Mentor Boons do you have. We have Tandang Boreas who is a level 1 so he will play with a level bum. @Tandang please have a read Through the level bump rules You will be able to choose up to two mentor boons to aid you further in the big PC league ;)
Please also let me know if you played #2-19 Enter the Pallid Peak
======================
TLDR
- Fill in the 3rd slide in the presentation
- Macro sheet
- RPGChronicles
- Provide the number of glyphs that you have
- Provide the mentorship boon
- Let me know if you played 2-19 Enter the Pallid Peak

1-3. Filled in slide / macro sheet / RPGChronicles.
4. Have 4 glyphs to hand out, plus campaign coin.
5. I have Protective Mentor which isn't the best. Would give an additional 3 max hit points (so +13 max hp instead of default +10 map hp).
6. GM'ed 2-19 on another character, but haven't played it on Zenith
--------------
Excited for this! Will do a full and proper IC introduction when we get closer, but in the interim Zenith is a L4 gymnast swashbuckler with champion dedication.
Also @Rainzax I saw you switch away from your swashbuckler, hope that wasn't on my accord! Zenith would play great with or without another swashbuckler.

![]() |

@GM
I am a 2-Glyph GM!
Will get my HW completed today or tomorrow or the weekend.
Both characters I am considering have participated in #2-19 Enter the Pallid Peak (one GM, one play).
Also: Hello!
@Tandang Boreas
To improve upon your Level Bump, so far you have the following options:
1) Zenith's Protective Mentor (bonus Hit Points)
2) Hammid's Worldly Mentor (bonus Perception / Initiative)
3) Don Jurri's Magical Mentor (bonus Spell Slot)
4) ????
5) ?????
@redeux
Hammid (my cleric) just recently came back from an adventure which I wasn't sure was going to finish on time (but we did). Don Jurri (my swashbuckler) was on deck as he was already and is currently available. That said, if you wanna get down to some double-swash derringdo-shenanegans, I am open to it! But yes, it does look like we "need" a cleric. I enjoy both characters equally, and if nobody "favorites" one over the other below, may end up leaving it to a 1d2 to decide...

![]() |

A Gentleman and a Scholar, Don Jurri is deadly with a blade, but a bit of a Drama Queen and Know-It-All. More at home at a Ball than a Dungeon, he never-the-less throws himself with Reckless Abandon into any situation Without Forethought, imagining his Sheer Luck and Ability to Improvise will steer him towards victory!

With what he calls Mystique, or what others might label as Shady, this Seasonly Dressed follower of an Obscure God harbors a Secret Ambition to accrue as much Knowledge = Power as mortally possible. Gifted with a Long Elven Life, Hammid dabbles in Vault-Breaking, Old Languages, Ancient History, as well as Poisoncraft.

![]() |

Hello, everyone. GM Farol, I will take note of those instructions and will do the necessary adjustments. I do not have a GM glyph yet nor mentor boons to share. As for the mentor boons, I would like to take the Protective Mentor Boon and the Magical Mentor Boon. Thank you for the boons. Moreover, this PC played the Enter the Pallid Peak scenario.
Also done with the Slides, Macros, and RPG Chronicles.

GM Farol |

Hey @rainzax, it is great to have you at my table. I haven't seen neither your Don Jurri nor Hammid. Happy to meet more people from your family ;)
@Redeux! Awesome to be playing with you once again. The last time you played Zenith I was beginning my Gm'ing adventure, and now ... it is not going much better :P Kidding ;) awesome to see Zenith again, I wonder how they changed, have you played him that 3 levels or stuffed him with vitamins and GM chronicles?
It is pleasure to meet you @Frozen Frost, I don't think we played at one table but there always have to be that first time ;) I suggest you to update your profile tag (the ac, hp and saves) with the level bump +boons as well as macro sheet. Leave your profile/sheet as is. Then when you finish the scenario you only need to change your profile tags. (if it make sense).

@Rainzax, I'm good with either character! I was just worried that my playing a swashbuckler made you switch. A Cleric is always welcome, as is another flanking buddy.
@GM - they/them* :) . Ha, i'm sure you'll do great! Zenith has only player credit! I'm trying to do all of the season 3 metaplot on them which requires some careful planning. They just have the Qadira arc left for tier 1-4 metaplots. Zenith will look quite a bit different since last you saw them. Made heavy use of the lvl 1 rebuild. Different heritage (duskwalker), ancestry feat (ghost hunter), class feat (flying blade), and different preferred weapon (Starknife)! Their personality/motivation remains the same, and they still prefer to not spend the night in the same place twice in a row ;)

Darn that! I got half of them right this time @redeux ;) I will get it right before it is all over ;)
======================
Ok folks, I do need the above information before the game starts, and I don't want to chase you for them. @Rannarix I know that you wait for feedback from your team members, unfortunately, PBP is not good for getting feedback from people, [sarcasm]it has to be due to that crazy speed of the game, that makes people not responsive ;) [/sarcasm]
I DM'ed Tyranius to join the thread and then everyone will be here.

No, the connection between the two is very loose ;) As long last there is at least one of you that played 2-19 you will have one extra conversation and that is it.
Hammid was marked as NPC

Nice to meet you too, GM Farol. Yes, we haven't played together in any table. Been playing this system for almost four months and I have many things to learn yet. Anyway, I already adjusted the needed stats for this character's statblock, and have applied the necessary boons I received from the allies.

Hey folks, so the game has officially started, have fun.
================
On the same note: I asked each of you to fill in the information (second post in the discussion), from all of the GM duties, chasing people to fill in things is the least favorite of mine, so I will only write it once:
- Screech and Harsk still need to fill rpgchronicles
- Screech, Harsk and Don Juri still need to fill the Macro sheet
- Screech and Harsk still need to provide their avatar on the slides

![]() |

done!
- Provide the number of glyphs that you have
3 glyphs, plus a campaign coin.
- Provide the mentorship boon
Combat Mentor
Prerequisites: Liked by Vigilant Seal
While working with less experienced Pathfinder allies, you provide pointers and lead drills that ensure your newer colleagues’ attacks strike true. For any PCs benefiting from a Level Bump and whose levels are lower than yours, you increase the Level Bump’s modifier to attack rolls to 2.
- Let me know if you played 2-19 Enter the Pallid Peak
Played!
GM Farol |

Hey, so finally we have all of the info filled in, thanks Rainzax for doing the macro sheets and avatars. Appreciated.
This would be the best time to select the school items and do the last purchases. I am doing that before anything on the map starts.
On the map, please do not put your PC beyond the green line. The ones that do not have low-light/darkvision please specify how do you handle the light situation.
This is also the time to decide on your spells if you are prepared caster ;)

![]() |

I will take the level 1 scroll of heal as school item. I will buy 1 minor healing potion (4 gp). I can prepare dancing lights spell to aid on everyone's vision.

![]() |

Screech grabs a mesmirizing crystal, just 'cause

![]() |

zenith grabs a lesser healing potion

![]() |

GM - for Exploration, Don Jurri will default to Search, unless by Defending he could make use of his Dueling Parry feat for a bonus to AC!

![]() |

To clarify, the lesser healing potion is from school items. Sorry if that wasn't clear!

GM Farol |

I don't mind allowing Dueling Parry as part of Defense Exploration.
Just an FYI, and I should have specify it before, I am taking your exploration activity from the Macroo sheet. So if you want to change them, go ahead and do it. It will get smoother with every fight ;)

![]() |

Don Julio, based on my experience playing a swashbuckler (in a game with GM Farol, no less), you should put your riposte roll in a spoiler.
That way it is there and ready when needed, without requiring the GM to have to pull it off your sheet, or wait for you.
Just a strong suggestion.

![]() |

Looks like I should do that as well :) Thanks for input. Hadn't considered that

Yeah, it is a neat way of handling reaction attacks.

Hey folks, it has come time to grant Hero Points. Let me start that I really like your PC's and your RP'ing so thank you for that! It is nice to read your posts and I do enjoy timely updates! So all of you well done!
I shall grant Hero Point to Zenith, really nice crit, good grapple before! Well done,
Scratch that. I loved what you did there Zenith, but I like what Rannarix did more.
I shall grant Hero Point to Rannarix! Why? He filled in macro information and avatars from Screech and Harsk. I do appreciate making GM's life easier!
On top of that thank you, Zenith and Don Jurri, for showing me a variety of actions for a swashbuckler, as mine were usually: tumble, tumble, strike alternatively fascinating performance, tumble, strike. Good to see so variety!

![]() |

Ha! I'd rather Rainzax have it anyway :) Plus technically the promotional service award boon is still a hero point, just a special one that can be gifted for a reroll. So Zenith is 3/3 hero points atm.
Also Zenith and I both rolled low on INT. If that disarm happened to be a crit success then probably should've picked it up. Ooops!

I would recommend using all those hero points, let me assure you, you don't get extra gold for finishing the scenario with pockets filled with Hero Points ;)
===================
Regarding shields, disarm etc. I am leaning towards the interpretation that shield is strapped to your hand (unless we are talking about bucklers) as a result, you don't drop them when falling unconscious but also need an action to drop them. That leads me to believe that disarming a shield could work differently than disarming a weapon. However in this case the creature is undead and some of the equipment could be old, the move itself was cool so I rolled with it.

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Fair, I didn't know if it would work or not, but was determined to try! Originally I typed OOC that Zenith would try to disarm the sword if the shield looks strapped. Then I remembered Zenith is 8 INT and has never disarmed before so it would be fitting for them to try to disarm a shield even if it was strapped and didn't work!
Of the non-magic shields, only bucklers specify they are strapped. Other non-magic shields (like steel shield, wooden shield, and tower shield) do not specify. There is some gm variance on whether a non magic, non buckler shield is held or strapped. I'm of the opinion they are held, since only bucklers specify, and because the magical counterparts specify the are held. But as you mention, this also means at my table if a PC goes unconscious then the shield is dropped

And just an FYI for those who did not see it Apparently there will be interactive special related with Pallid peaks/depths etc

![]() |

Don Jurri, would you mind breaking up that string of rolls somewhat?
It was eye-rendingly long, and all ran together. Also, I have heard it if one happens to be colorblind, the colors of the die roller make it even harder
Here is how I macro it for my swashbuckler
[ dice=+1 striking rapier]1d20+11[/dice]
[ dice=Piercing+precision]2d6+1+2[/dice] | [ dice=finisher]2d6[/dice] | [ dice=deadly]1d8[/dice]
Note, I leave either the precision damage on the rapier's damage, or the finisher. Breaking it up like this helps to see what is the finisher damage, in case you you miss. The | characters (hopefully) help sep
This ends up looking like this:
+1 striking rapier: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Piercing+precision: 2d6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6, 3) + 1 + 2 = 12 | finisher: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 | deadly: 1d8 ⇒ 4
Thanks for understanding!

![]() |

I think that the hero point was just missed. 6+11+1=18 to hit vs FF. And since Screech crit with 28 vs FF then Don Jurri probably should've hit.
If Don Jurri did in fact miss (but not crit miss) then the precision damage uses the same damage type as the weapon you're using. Meaning that it's possible no damage is dealt if there's some resistance. I mention this since this seems to be a less known caveat of precision damage that usually doesn't matter but comes up with confident finisher misses.

While we are at it. My wife and I are moving on Monday for 3 months. It will consume our whole weekend and probably Monday. So I will probably post for the last time on Friday and then another time on Tuesday.
It could happen that everything will go smoothly and I will have hours to kill in front of PC ;) But I don't count on that.

Can we also get to do some Treat Wounds? I believe the 1 hour temporary immunity has expired for whoever gets treatment from it.
And for the Goodberries, do we get to roll the HPs for that two-hour duration? I am assuming a Refocus betweem the Goodberries. Or, I don't need to because because it is understood that with combination of Lay on Hands and Goodberries, everyone gets full HP restoration. XD

GM Farol |

Hey folks, As you most likely know, most scenarios have 3 fights. Well this is not one of them ;) The story is not over. The options that you have are:
- explore section 2 and 3 on the map
- Select one of the tunnels (white - safe, red - trapped) that should lead you closer to the tomb of the undead necromancer
Order of those does not really matter, so please express where would you like to go ;)
===============
I stopped giving HP as I wanted for you to use some, But I guess you want to finish the scenario with your pockets full of those :|
I shall give HP to Tandang, nicely done with that pool disable. Good move, nice use of Hero Point. If the fight would last longer the poison would make some heavy damage to you.
