[Outpost V] #4-07 Severing Ties (Inactive)

Game Master Mustaparta

Silver Crusade

Recruitment thread, game begins 6th March.

Balanced party is important here. 1 or 2 seats reserved for players new to Pbp.

Dotting for interest.

I can bring a barbarian 4, a paladin 2 or a wizard 2 to the table.
Or I can play a pregen.

Please note that I will be playing this scenario at the same time (Outpost) in CORE.

Grand Lodge

assuming it is standard and not core?

Silver Crusade

This is standard.

Should we advertise this game at Flaxseed?
It's only a few days until start of Outpost V...

Silver Crusade

How important are skills? I have a 2nd level cleric but he's a skill-less goon.

I have played this scenario before, but I can replay if you need people. I have the following I can play: Witch 4, Occultist 2, Hunter 4, Barbarian 1 (never played), Summoner 2, Alchemist 2 (never played).

If skills are important, I have a level 4 skill monkey I can bring. If not, I also have a level 1 negative-channeler.

Silver Crusade

Not particularly skill-intensive in my opinion, I meant combat may be more challenging than usual for this tier.

Where do we stand here?

The big question is: Do we want to play upper or lower tier?

For upper tier, I can bring my barbarian 4 or play a pregen - Kyra (cleric 4) is available as a fast option, as she is already set up as an alias of mine.

For lower tier I can play a wizard 2, a paladin 2 - and in a few hours my monk 1 should have finished his confirmation to get his second level (will become monk 1/cleric 1 then).

Do you still need folks to play, it is hard to tell? I have a few choices for high tier and a few in between. I have never played this scenario, and it is on my "to do" list.

I have a 5th level Ranger Archer. A 5th level Fire Sorcerer, a 3rd level unchained rogue, and a 3rd level Alchemist.

I don't want to intrude if this is strictly a Outpost signup game. I only now realized that Outpost V was happening and I have not signed up.

I will check back in later today to see if this is open or PM me.

If I count correctly, we are not full yet.

Also, the GM will pick a party from all submissions, so in my humble opinion you can apply anyway. ;-)

Outpost doesn't require sign ups in general, just the individual tables. You should be good to go.

It sounds like we have at least once level 2, so down? I can bring a summoner 2 for that, or a variety of GM babies who've never actually been played.

Silver Crusade

Im guessing this is a lower tier?

SodiumTelluride: lvl 4 or lvl 1
Shadow Dragon: cleric 2
Kaerver78: wizard 2, paladin 2 or monk 2
Meranthi: Summoner 2

Wydroe: Welcome in! We still have seats open so no need to pick and choose.

Lower tier it is, then.

So we have divine and arcane checked. Wydroe brings either a rogue or an alchemist.
So we need some meat shields, right?
I think I'll bring my monk/cleric (level 2). He's neither a positive nor a negative channeler - he's a no-channeler. ;-D
Or, if you need the cavalry, there's still my level 4 barbarian...

Also, I asked grimdog73 via pm if he is still interested.
Edit: Unfortunately, he already played it.

Sovereign Court

I'll bring a level 2 meat shield if you need one; pm me to confirm. Thx.

I've also played, so if you have enough to run, I should probably bow out. I'll check again if you still need me.

Hello everyone! I've never played this scenario, but I really love Ridleport (because GMed Second Darkness twice), so I would be glad to play. I can bring a Level 5 melee Hunter or a hardy Level 1 melee cleric.

I don't have any characters in the 1st and 2nd level range. Is it okay to bring my 3rd level rogue or my 3rd level alchemist?

The cleric 2 isn't built for 'more challenging' combat (he can't fight his way out of a wet paper bag) so he's not a good choice; the person who posted with the level 1 melee cleric would be a better choice.

@Wydroe:
I don't think there's any problem with a Level 3 character - especially if it's going to be 'more challenging' combat... ;-)

@Shadow Dragon:
If you're talking about Kaseem ibn al Majid, he can still keep the melees alive with his selective channelling.

Also, if Meranthi doesn't (want to) play, I can switch over to my Wizard 2 (so we have an arcane caster).

So we have:

SodiumTelluride: cleric 1 (negative selective channeler)
Shadow Dragon: cleric 2 (positive selective channeler)
E3ivy2: cleric (melee) 1
Wydroe: rogue or alchemist 3
PDK: meat shield 2
kaervek78: wizard 2

Imagine this:
A meat shield and a cleric are fighting in melee (either joined by a rogue or an alchemist who throws some bombs) while two other clerics keep them alive and at the same time hurt the enemies with theor selective channeling - with the wizard doing wizardy stuff*)...
Sounds hilarious! :-D

*) e.g. casting spells (charm person, color spray, grease, burning hands, sleep, acid splash, ...), throwing splintered spears, identifying magic items, sharing his knowledge (being an annoying know-it-all), ...

APL: 11 / 6 = 1.83 (=low tier)

And if E3ivy2 decides to bring the melee hunter 5 instead for the 'more challenging' combat:

APL: 15 / 6 = 2.5 (the players can decide to round up or down, so: =low tier)

Silver Crusade

Did you need a low-level paladin?

Grand Lodge

I will use my rogue if no one objects. He is a little more interesting to play for me. I just came out of a long campaign where I play an Alchemist. I am a little burned out on the class.

When would you like us to post in the game play and get started?

aka. Wydroe

Grand Lodge

Here's my meat shield (PDK here). I may have... slightly exaggerated his 'meat shield' quality... as he's only at 13 hit points... :P

Dark Archive

This is my wood wizard (kaervek78 here).

@Ezekial Sun-Blessed: I cannot speak for the GM, but currently we seem to be full. However, there's always the possibility someone backs out.

@Tanbu Yull a.k.a. Wydroe: Playing your rogue is fine with me. With 19 AC and 27 hit points he might even become our 'real' meat shield! (see below)

@Kaidynn a.k.a. PDK: That may be, but your AC is 20. Works for me. ;-)

@all: It seems we have everything (melees, rogue, divine, arcane) an adventuring party needs. When do we start?

He looks like a good fit. When I posted earlier the melee cleric would be a better fit than my cleric, I should have been more clear:

I won't be sitting at this table.
Sorry for the confusion.

Dark Archive

@Shadow Dragon: No problem. See you around! :)

@Ezekial Sun-Blessed: It seems you're in, if you want! :-D

@all: It seems we have still everything (melees, rogue, divine, arcane) an adventuring party needs... ;-)

SodiumTelluride: cleric 1 (negative selective channeler)
Torilgrey: paladin 1
E3ivy2: cleric (melee) 1 OR hunter (melee) 5
Wydroe: rogue 3
PDK: meat shield 2
kaervek78: wizard 2

APL V1: 10 / 6 = 1.67 (low tier)
APL V2: 14 / 6 = 2.33 (still low tier)

Silver Crusade

Awesome! Thanks I'm ready to go I think.

Will it suit everyone if I take a Hunter 5? This is a strong safety net for the party. But it may be too strong. What do you think?

Dark Archive

@‘Eκάτη: Well, I can't speak for everyone, but I am very much ok with a strong safety net for my wizard the party! ;-)

Low tier it is, you can post in gameplay.
