She goes back to her bedroll easily carrying the large axe in one hand. She waves them over, "Might as well take a breather." She pulls a leather bag from her backpack and offers it to Jon. The cloak has a strange squiggle of a symbol likely burnt into it.

Niversal you find the tracks that are leading away from the campsite you are presently within, though the tracks lead to this campsite.
There is an older set of tracks that leaves the campsite to the North. Following them you are soon in the grass hills and then to a stream. Then you follow the tracks back to the glade of the unicorn.
Jean smells the stone giant moreso than anything else.
Smelling the cloak reveals a hint of smoke and decay.
---
Jade smirks at Locke's question and once most of you are near she says, "The cloak was upon the unicorn. We didn't pick up any tracks but we can go back and check again. Unless someone can scry, I am not sure if we will be able to find who killed the unicorn."

Matthew_Locke |

"Where did you find the cloak? Any trail we might pick up should be there." He asks as he puts his greatsword away. Then he gets his bow.

![]() |

Walking on foot the entire way to work off the loadstone curse during tracking Niversal says Nothing that is on foot. I followed the tracks in every direction and this is where the trail ends. That cloak is all we have. We could take the cloak to town and have a spell cast on it to find it's owner.

Zaidel |

Zaidel blinks. "I can't pray for any divination spell strong enough to help find the bastard who did this. I want to go back to the corpse. I'll watch over it. If you guys intend on going back to New Beginnings for more resources. I'll stay by the unicorn and guard it's body from vandalism", the satyr frowned.

![]() |

"Niversal, the killer may have never been near this campsite. Lets go back to the Unicorn and search there again." Jean suggests.

Matthew_Locke |

He agrees with Jean, "I believe you have it Jean. Let's head back there and see if we can find a trail or maybe we missed something." He would begin to head the way they had come.

I totally forgot Daniel is gone... Before the group leaves Daniel walks up and asks to see the cloak. He seems to go into a trance and once he comes out of it after a few minutes says, "The previous owner of this cloak is afraid of lightning, it is killing black wolves, their is a bush of big red leaves near it."

Angelica Delathor |

"The only plant in this area that has large red leaves is the God's Wish flower. If Jean can get some altitude look West and you should be able to see them. So we go to the grassy hills and then venture West?!"

You haven't left the campsite yet. The spoiler above is changed because Daniel can help the situation, as he was suppose to before leaving.

Jean takes to the sky and begins to circle around the campsite.
Matthew, Angelica, Zaidel, Jade, Gin, and anyone else that wants to can follow. Out into the grass hills again you can see the glade of the unicorn to the North. Though those in lead go East (to the right) Ooops I got my directions mixed up.
After a 10 minute jaunt as the slowest in the group is... 30 feet per round I believe, you can see in the distance of oak trees and some very large red leafed plants between the trees. It takes a few more mintues to reach the tree line. You can see several black wolf carcasses on the way there. You do hear the sound of battle further in the forest.

Matthew dashes into the forest. Jon follows and others most likely do as well. You see a few more dead black wolves about one every 50 feet. Then you come upon a clearing, there is 30 black wolves and they surround a figure in a cloak. It's hood is up and its daggers shine with wolf blood. All you can see is a gleaming smile for his facial features, everything else is shrouded.
There is 20 feet of open room from the trees. Then there is sporadic wolves, then thick wolves which are all biting at the stranger. He keeps moving keeping the wolves on their toes. With a twirl you see the same symbol upon the cloak Jade had collected before.

Jean looks at Dean as he accepts the quest, the little lizard that had appeared clinging to the padded armor that appeared rolled up in his backpack straps, and says, "Lets do this Dean!"
Jean swoops down and blows a blast of lightning striking as many of the wolves as possible and presenting himself as another target.

Davin Lintini |

Hoping to not have to kill his favorite animal, Davin wracks his brain trying to come up with some way to scare them off. Wolves were apex predators, and there was nothing that hunted them.
Then, a memory floats through the mists of time, of his favorite book series, the Belgariad and it's sequel, the Mallorean. The main character, Belgarion, is stalking alongside a procession in the form of a wolf. He spots a war elephant and suddenly feels very small next to it. "A wolf's bulk is measured in hundreds of pounds, but an elephant's weight is in *tons*."
Of course, this was a big pack of wolves, seemingly bent on killing this stranger. Thus, maybe a normal elephant wouldn't do. No, what he needed was mastodon power, black ranger style!
He shifts forms, growing to a truly massive size, some eight plus feet in height and weighing upwards of ten thousand pounds.
The sorcerer lets loose a blast from his trunk, hoping the sudden sound was enough to scatter at least some of the wolves.
Idk what sort of rules might work here, if any, but an African elephant's trumpet blast is around 103-117 decibels. Or about the sound of a jet 1,000 overhead.

GM Wolf |

Jean damages at least 10 wolves and Niversal takes down one of them. Matthew hurt the closest wolf. What do the rest of you do? Go ahead and post for round 2 and 3. Jade and Gin both charge into the fray clobbered wolves as they go. Angelica and Mia stand beside Niversal with cloth in their ears and daggers out to defend him when the wolves come. Daniel uses his sling and stays back with Niversal.
