Davin Lintini
Davin how much damage did you take? And how much did Zaidel heal?
It depends on if I was able to have cast Mage Armor in round 2, before I was attacked the first time. If I was, my AC was 27, meaning only nat 20s hit me. If I wasn't able to, only the two 19s with flanking bonuses hit me. Same with the attacks from rounds 5&6, no 20s, and only the 19 hits if it got a flanking bonus. However, if my AC has been 27 from round 2-6, zero attacks hit me, even those with a flanking bonus, as 19+4 = 23.
Also, never tripped, as my CMD vs that is a 39.

Zaidel
"Sorry Whisper", Zaidel apologizes. "Angelica, would you please escort us to the most likely location of this 'Banshee of the North'? And give Jean better directions, so he can scout more effectively?" The satyr bows with respect to the young huntress, sorry for his outburst.

"That sounds good. How long will it take you all to walk to these woods? We have a time limit to save the unicorn." Jean asks.
Jonathan Garrett.
"So long as we're willing to fall back if she looks like she's more than we can handle, and we can't work out how to stop her blindness ability, I'll come along." Jon shook his head, not thrilled at pressing forward into a overly dangerous situation.
Davin Lintini

Davin bends his considerable memory to try and recall anything he might have heard about the 'Banshee of the North' Spending an Inspiration point to get a 20, for a total of 28 K:Nature. He's specifically hoping to learn if she has any weaknesses they might exploit, or if it's possible for them to defend themselves against her blindness ability.
Davin moves to stand away from the group, making it clear he is not going with them, at least at the moment. "Jon brings up a good point. Are any of us capable of somehow counteracting going blind? If it's like the Medusa's gaze, we might stand a chance. However, if it's more akin to a Nymph or Shining Child, who create an aura of blindness, we're pretty screwed. And not proper."
Jean de Montes

"I have dragon senses. So I know where creatures are, but I might still miss if I can't see it." Jean says.
Zaidel
The satyr looks up into the sky again and states, "Query: Available Level-1 Cleric spells."
Another blue screen pops up in front of Zaidel's face as the cleric begins to scan the links and content.
"Hmm. Forbid Action may work if I know the blindness/deafness is coming, but it's only for one round. Ah. Remove Sickness is really stretching the defintion of 'sickness' by being deafened or blinded..Songbird looks cool, but again, only one round and only a +1 to the sonic DC."
The caydenite looked at the screen some more, lost in thought with a furrowed brow.
Angelica Delathor
She hesitates and then offers, "I have been to the Winter Forest only a few times. It will take 2 days by foot to just get there. We are not well equipped for that weather, it drops below freezing at night. So presently no, I won't guide you."

Using k nature you realize that the Banshee, if is a true Banshee it was a female elf and I now undead.
You also think of a nymph, a water fey that has a blinding ability with her beauty but that is a permanent effect, you think.
Davin Lintini
"Forbid Action won't work if it's an aura effect, as it will affect you before you have a chance to cast your spell. Blindness isn't a sickness otherwise there would be no need for the 3rd level 'remove blindness/deafness' spell. Songbird only increases the DC of a sonic spell you cast. Doesn't help us resist a blindness effect, which isn't sound based. Protection from Evil would be a bit beneficial, as it gives a +2 bonus to saves, but it's only one target, and there's like eight of us." Davin says in reply to the spell suggestions being made.
"I'm sorry Zaidel, I really want revenge on the killer of the unicorn too, but I honestly do not think we our strong enough to go after her right now."

"Being too cold is bad. Is there a village on the way we can pick up some cold weather items?" Jean asks Angelica.
Angelica Delathor
She looks at you strangely for a moment and then pulls out her map. Showing it to the group and pointing out the lay of the land. She confidently says, "We are about here in the Northern Forest. If we go northwest for two days we will find the entrance to the Winter Forest. The closest village is New Beginnings which would likely be a full day of walking from here. There is a village to the East and West of New Beginnings about a days travel. Going West you find the river. Then it is a week's travel to New Faces. If we go East you would find several villages along the way each about a days distance from each other until Rath Haven a horrible place surrounded by swamps. We could go straight North and take the underpass to Harbinger, though it is an unruly and chaotic den of thieves. Sure it is a town and likely what we need. I can get you there in two maybe three days."

perhaps we can take a few other quests on the way and see if we can gain a bit more ability to handle the creature who killed the unicorn on the way. We can circle around the area and see what turns up?
Zaidel
Zaidel, who had been quiet, chimed up at the iron soldier's suggestion.
"We have 8 days to complete the quest", the satyr offered.
Jonathan Garrett.
"Then we can confront her in seven, if we have the spells and knowledge to do so." Jon said firmly. "It gives us the best chance of succeeding in getting vengeance and not just being her next set of victims."

"I fully agree with this plan. Let's complete some quests, level up, and hopefully in seven days, we'll be able to defeat our foe." Davin says, moving over to physical side with Jon.

""But bear in mind, when we next level, we need to be at a dragon shrine or death shrine and sacrifice something, so we can level", Zaidel reminds the Chosen.

look, I am not listing what we have to do or what the barriers are. Since we don't have a command structure I am attempting to put some ideas or choices out to the group. Right now we have two quests. I am seeing if there are more near by so we can do a few and see if it's enough to get us to the chance to do that ceremony prior to facing this banshee because the majority of the group wants to wait rather then charge a supernatural creature with our soft and squibblies hanging out. That's all my man. Pick an objective, regroup, adapt and overcome. After the action review. Lead by example.
Zaidel
"I'm not here to fight", Zaidel raises his hands in surrender. "And I don't wanna lead anybody to their deaths.
We can, at least, do our best to protect our guest", the satyr gestures to the rogue. "Then choose our next move. Should we stay here and try to level, or go back to New Beginnings, or go forward to New Faces?"
Jean de Montes
|
"Lets head back for now. If people are concerned then lets go see if we can get better equipment or cold weather gear and then we can go from there." Jean suggests.
Zaidel
"Fair thee well, Jade. And good hunting." Zaidel raises his tankard to the oread warrior. Diplomacy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
On the way back to New Beginnings, Zaidel is not as chatty as he normally is. If she will allow it, the satyr puts his arm around Mia as they walk, hoping his hairy arm will help keep off the cold.

Jean takes to the air and flies in slow circles as the group moves back to New Beginnings. He keeps an eye out in case anyone decides to try and ambush the group below or decides to attack himself from above.
Mia Thornrose
She embraces it and clutches into the Saytr.
Zaidel
"Well, let's see if The Pig has any more boar steaks and room to rent", Zaidel spoke wearily to the others.
Jonathan Garrett.
"Steak is fine, but I am going to go see if I can find some armour to keep me alive, and a shield." Jon waved and went to hunt the items he needed before they headed out again.
Zaidel
Entering the Pig's Roast, Zaidel walks up to the bartender to shake his hand.
"Good evening, Roland. Great to see you again. Do you have any rooms available for tonight? What are you serving for dinner?"

Jean follows Zaidal in happy that he can finally afford to buy food and rent a room on his own.
Zaidel
"I'll take one room, and four dinners", Zaidel began. "One for me, one for Mia, and one for our newest member, Angelica, and one for our guest, Whisper."
The satyr turns to the other Chosen. "If you lot don't have the coin for a meal, let me know and I'll pick up your tab."

Jean says, "I have the coin for the second room and a meal." Jean pulls out the coins to do so.

She sits down at the bar and smiles, waiting for dinner.
Angelica Delathor
She sits next to Mia at the bar and thanks Zaidel, "Why thank you for that, may luck always be on your side!"
Zaidel
Roland nods and takes Zaidel's coins of likely 2 gp. Or if you want your change he would produce 7 silver pieces. He also takes the dragon's coins of 7 sp.
When offered the change by Roland, Zaidel denies it and asks the bartender to keep it. "May Cayden's Blessing be ever on ya, Roland."
Jean de Montes
|
"Niversal, he only has two. I had the bed last time. You can have it this time and I will just take some floor room." Jean tells his companion as he waits for the food and pulls out a gem to shine and look at.
GM Wolf
Jon you go to the general store and find there is nothing there that would work for you, maybe others in your party but there is only a few suits of armor available. Speaking with Roland would be your best bet.
Roland nods and pockets the coins. He shakes his head and regretfully says, "Universal I am sorry, I only have two spare rooms and they were rented by Zaidel and Jean. I have a few friends with an extra bunk or loft that you could sleep in for far less? There is no call for an inn here. The Chosen come we aid as we can, then you typically move along to New Faces or another neighboring town."
Once business is settled Roland heads back into the kitchen and begins to cook for the group. It looks like most of those that came to eat have come and are nearly finished or just left their empty plates and cups.

hey Zaidel, bards get some sort of ability to counter target sonic attacks? When do you get that? Can we find an item that augments bardic ability to help you do that now?

CONVERSATIONS AROUND A TAVERN
"Hey, Whisper. I wanted to talk to you for a moment. Earlier, you told us that you were apart of a familia ..of Death. Is this a God of Death, or The BIG Death with a capital 'D'? What's it like being in a familia? Do you gain special access or abilities? I'd love to know more."
She sits next to Mia at the bar and thanks Zaidel, "Why thank you for that, may luck always be on your side!"
"Good stuff, huh?" Zaidel inquires about Angelica's meal. "I'm relatively new to boar meat, but it's quickly becoming a favorite of mine."
The satyr leans in a little bit to the huntress. "I'm sorry for my attitude earlier. I didn't mean for my response to your experienced advice to sound so off-putting. I'll try to work on that in the future.""Another thing, I think I forgot if you told us with you were a religious person? Is there a God or Goddess you favor or follow?"
After a while, the cleric, huntress, and cohort are chatting it up, (Some obviously more than others). "You know, Angelica. If you want you can share our bed tonight, you can. But I warn you, I sleep in the nude", the satyr winks.
Diplomacy + Charming: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 14 + 1 = 34
"Hey Zaidel, bards get some sort of ability to counter target sonic attacks? When do you get that? Can we find an item that augments bardic ability to help you do that now?
Zaidel frown slightly as he makes his way over to the mech pilot. "Sadly, I'm not a bard." The satyr looks around conspiratorially. "Not yet."
"I was thinking. That for my first wish I will get from destroying a Dark Soul is that every member of our party will become gestalt characters: characters with access to two different classes; originally from D&D 3.5, I think. So when that happens, I'll become a gestalt cleric/bard. And bring Rock-n-Roll to Arcanium. Maybe become a star while saving the world, who knows?""Guys. And Gals. I think it's time we had a serious chat about what we are gonna call this group. We just can't be 'The Chosen' because there's a lot more Chosen out there than us, and some of us are not Chosen."
The caydenite pulls out his cell phone and powers it up. I have made a few suggestions that I'd like us to consider. And if you have your own ideas on our group name, please say them aloud. Here are mine:"[/b]
"Now we have lots of examples for 'team mascots', so here are a few of mine."
