Okay, let's make this happen.

1 - Yes, everyone needs a Campaign Trait from the AP
2 - Yes, you may have a Drawback
3 - 25pt buy

4 - Core + 2ndary Paizo; yes, I love psionics, yes, some of the Occult stuff is a stretch, no I'm probably not up for a Wilder this time (I love them tho)
5 - Background: this is a campaign about Varisia, and should feel like it. I get that playing a time displaced ninja kitsune from Tian might seem fun ... but it will be a hell of a sales pitch. On the flip side; if you pitch a Harrower who is a little short on gp to buy their 2nd Harrow Deck, I will probably approve it without thinking becuase it's themeatically brilliant. More background is better ;)
6 - ASK

Yes, I played a version of Harsk in my friends Runelords game :) This is that PC's "alternate dimension" doppelganger :)

Looks awesome - and you can be in charge of the backstory, I would love to see it. If you want to "Captain America" the previous character, give him a little amnesia, and say it's the same guy, ALL GOOD. It's very in keeping with this campaign (and it allows him to have memories he might not otherwise have)

Hello GM. I was invited here by Qstor. Some basic questions. Are we rolling for HP or we taking the average like PFS did. Same question for starting Gold.

I have an investigator fleshed out, so my +1 book will be the advanced class guide. He will be using the trait "Intrigued by Thassilon".

That's cool! He might have been reincarnated on a "different" version of Golarion!

HP @ 1st level is max please, and just to be creative, gold is equal to 75% of max or a roll which comes out higher than that. Thanks for asking.

Look forward to seeing them: Intrigued by Thassilon is awesome by the way.

Grand Lodge

Hi all. Looking forward to playing with you all.

So folks are thinking of a ranger and an investigator so far.

GM, 1 question. If an archetype from a second book has something from a book other than core is that ok?

I'm thinking of a situation where a domain or similar feature has a spell from some other book.

Absolutely: as long as you cite it, and I can look it up, it is okay.

A couple notes: I do NOT believe in "DIPS"
You cannot DIP into being a doctor
You cannot DIP into being a lawyer
You cannot DIP into TCP/IP routing

In this campaign, you cannot dip to get somthing, like a kid at a candy store, and think that it's career appropriate. I hope that's okay.

Grand Lodge

How many players are we looking at for this crew? Also ha be a druid controller that works with these build rules I would like to play. Unless some has an objection. I'm always interested in making adjustment for the group.

Grand Lodge

One last question can you clarify which books. Is it core + 1 other rulebook? If so how does that work for traits and drawbacks which are not core?

5? I think we have space for 2 more.

Not really wanting 3rd party, but anything Paizo will be fine.
I am a HUGE fan of traits, so yes to drawbacks.
I want everyone to have a campaign trait, but let's make that free.

and whenever you are ready, I would love to take a look.

oh oh, I really think we just want 4 players.
I don't want to spend a ton of time trying to scale everything.
We could live with 3 tho, I can create a 4th who is an APC (All Player Character)

Let's see what you guys come up with.

Grand Lodge

Perfect. I will try to have a character up tonight or tomorrow. Even when given the option of third party I still just build paizo only. So no worries from me.

It isn't for lack of love; I am in a campaign which is actually 3rd party ONLY. I am using DSP psionics rules which I have always loved ... all good.

I just feel that particularly for Paizo APs, the Paizo material works best. LOL that said, if we have a submission from Intrigue, I may raise my eyebrows a little; this is not that kind of AP. But otherwise, we can keep it pretty open.

Are you looking for another player? I'd love to be in. Don't have a character concept yet, but I'm happy to fill in the blanks. (Invited by Qstor)

Yes please :)

In that case, start with the Player's Guide for the AP, and look at the Character Traits. We already have Time Lost, and Intrigued by Thassilon, so maybe work forward from there. Let me know what looks fun for you, I am happy to help. I have loved Varisia from the very beginning, so I can point you in a few directions.

Thanks!

I think I'm going with scion of legend for my campaign trait. It works with the character concept I'm putting together.

I happen to LOVE that one!

Please let me know if there are ways that you want to tie back to Rise of the Runelords or Shattered Star, happy to plan those with you.

My PC will have served under Grognar (battle oracle dual cursed), my PC who completed Rise of the Runlord and his son is Erond Niroden (evangelist cleric of Erastil), help reform Sihedron and must live with that.

The first draft of a quick character sketch.

I'm going to flip around some of the obvious assumptions of the trait because that is more fun. In this case, the scion is the father rather than the more obvious son. He was a former low-ranking military officer who enlisted more because of a family tradition than any more noble reason. This took him away from his family for long stretches of time. In his mind, this resulted in his son becoming bookish and obsessed with Thassilonian archology. Though he gets along with his son, his son's immense magical power, responsibilities in the Pathfinder society, and fame make him the one who is now rarely around. Cats in the cradle and the silver spoon. Hector, nearly sixty, has spent the last ten years in Varisia learning Thassilonian and reading about the Runelords trying to understand his son better. After retiring from his post, he bought a small cabin just outside of Roderic’s Cove though he is in the city nearly every day for this thing or that. Or more likely to chat with people. Hector seems to live off the land and odd jobs primarily and lives a simple existence...

Hector Niroden (Nature Fang Druid) with his Ron the firepelt cougar (Ron is short for Erond).

I'm working on finalizing a charter sheet.

Starting GP: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10

I'm tempted by Accidental Clone to be honest. I've played Shattered Star, but not Rise. Sounds like we have an Investigator, Ranger, and Druid. I can either do a melee type (depending on the ranger build) or something arcane. Current thought is a runesage wizard clone, but I'm not welded to that.

Also, forgot to ask, is this for society credit or just for fun?

Grand Lodge

Ranger looks ranged. My druid is a front liner with an animal companion. I don't know about the investigator. If melee that could help free up the role for the last slot. If that were the cast a wizard would be ideal. Hopefully someone has some face skills.

and I am happy to make that character to round things out too, the CHA character

LOVE runesage wizard neo-Sorshen, that's a great idea

Did you specify starting gold?

Grand Lodge

Roll or 75% of max whichever is higher.

...and his cat Ron.

Here we are. The Gruff nature-loving retired soldier.

The boards are wild and posting out of order.

money!: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6

Well, that was nice and average. So 60 gp, or 90 gp. 90 it is. :)

Dark Archive

Meet Mirenia Zaitu, formerly dead runesage wizard (stats aren't set in stone).

A lot of people have been locked out of their accounts and have had to clear cache and cookies. I say this incase anyone has that issue.

I feel like I had this issue twice, for over a day and a half.

Dark Archive

Is this still on? I haven't seen anything lately.

Absolutely.
Tech issues seem to have abated for now.

Just wante to see what everyone has put together.

Liberty's Edge

I'm still here. How many players do we have?

Grandlounge / Hector
Merenia
Qstor / Harsk

That's the team, correct?

Grand Lodge

ZD had an investigator. Qstor have you heard from him? I'm good to go anytime. Especially if this has a bit of an RP start.

Then let's make next steps 1-on-1 messages so that I can understand your Campaign Traits better.

Hector
Harsk
Mirenia

All looking really good to me.
Message me when you have a minute.

Thanks!

So, another thing. I am just about at my tolerance for what I can take of the Paizo boards overall, and certainly for PbP. Not a bad spot for receuitment, but a pretty crappy place to play. Discord is a lot more robust.

Is there wild opposition to running on Discord?

I've never done a PbD, but I'm up for it.

Meranthi wrote:

I promise it works EXACTLY the same ... except for the part where it totally works better.

YES - there is a slightly different markup syntax: happy to teach it.
YES - there is a slightly different die roller: you all are smart cookies

BUT

I can also make as many threads (called channels) as we want. We can always edit our own content. We can have a #General chat, a #Discussion chat, AND our #Gameplay chat. I usually have people roll dice in a #DICE channel so it isn't cluttering up #Gameplay

and we could do Voice stuff if you wanted, and all kinds of other stuff.

!!!
I found it!
I knew I could show it somehow (even here)

I'm ok with discord. Knowing me I will be a little inconsistent in posting until I get it worked into my routine. That is just how my brain works but I'm a pretty consistent poster so I won't slow things down.

Let me be super super honest: when I first started using Discord, I uninstalled it because I was getting SO many notifications (from a team in a mobile game) it drove me crazy.

Now though, I know how to control which games I get notifcations from and when, it's a LOT more fun.

Liberty's Edge

I'll ping ZD

I'd prefer to keep most stuff here particularly rolls. I'm on a couple of servers and struggle to keep up. ? I understand that it tends to go faster? It's up to the GM

Dark Archive

Are we looking for more players?

Mirenia Zaitu wrote:

Not yet: let's let Q reach out to ZD and then see what we've got.

Q: it's more a matter of customizing the look and feel.
The die roller I use is great, I separate rolls into a DICE chanell; pretty normal stuff really other than a different syntax

But I like being able to edit
I like being able to delete
I like having as many chanells as I want
I like NOT having to post 1000s of links to other documents because the boards dont allow for other media types.

Pace is something we can agree on though.
Yes, I am running my Dead Suns AP fast, and I love it and those players love it.
But if this needs to be a weekend thing, that's cool too.

But what I most dom't want, like about 2am last night, is to consistently find myself unable to connect. Paizo Syndrome. It's infuriating.

I am still here. Life kind of got hectic for a minute.

As far as discord, I am up for trying something new, but I barely can keep up with "fast" games as it is on PBP. If discord is faster, I will definitely fall behind and badly.

I completely understand, and we can set the pace that makes sense for this group. Fast is NOT the goal. Quality is what matters, not quantity.

Here is my character.

Here it goes

At a young age, Bahram was brought to Varisia from the deserts of Casmeron. He father, a well known Kelish merchant came to Varisia seeking new business opportunities. Eventually the family settled down in Magnimar.

While his father, Kobad Al-Asham, would like Barham to take over the family business, he would have other plans. With a knack for getting into trouble, Bahram was always heading out, attempting to find adventure. Whenever questioned, he would just say, he was trying to find valuables to sell.

During his later academic years, he would sign on to archeology teams to sate his thirst for adventure and knowledge of caves.

This is where he became intrigued by Thassilon. The rich story of the Age of Legend and Earthfall became an obsession. Now knowing that some Runelords may still be present, has refreshed his mind.

Grand Lodge

Alright we have 4 players. Mixed preferences on where we play. Paizo for all its problems is where most of my games are but I can make other things work. So I think some one needs to make a call on what works best best for the group as a whole.
