Desmond Vilks |
"Yeah. He's our friend. He was coming to do some exploration, but we haven't heard from him in a while. So we're worried he got hurt. Maybe your husband knows where he went?"
Zhamie Zhapp |
"'Ave you seen ze leshy? Ven vas ze last time you saw 'im?"
Zhamie is still feeling a bit green around the gills but she's much better.
GM Frost |
”I know not much about the leshy. If you can't wait for my husband, after you eat and arrange your accommodations for the night, I suggest you ask the locals here, maybe they also know.” Agnis tells them, scratching her head again.
”As for the accommodations, the food is already included if you would like to stay here for the night. We can offer you what we call the Best Rooms we have for 5 gp each, in which we also upgrade your food, if you know what I mean,” she explains with a wink, ”or you can avail our Good Rooms as we call it for just 2.5 gp each. Or if you don't want to stay her for the night, well, it is okay, I think there is a hostel nearby that offers 1 gp each for the room.” she tells them as she shrugs.
So, will you be staying here for tonight? If yes, what your rooms and food would be? So that you could eat and go and ask people outside about your friend and come back here to rest.”
Khagra, Skewerspike |
Khagra looks to his allies then looks to our host "Let us consult."
Leaning in and gathering his allies "I think here keeps us nearby where the info is. Upgrade seems out of our price range though." Khagra looks to his allies to see what they think.
Zhamie Zhapp |
"Oui. Ve can stay here and use it as our base of operations."
Aleksandr Ostenoff |
"Those prices seem a bit exorbitant. Are you trying to shake us down for information on our colleague," Aleksandr accuses while trying to remain charming. "We never said we were planning to stay in town at all."
Shagrat the Goblin Runelord |
"If we had used the best boat we would have more for food--but that's okay," Shagrat muses, counting his coins. "We can always find food in streets or something--people throw out lots of good stuff!"
He takes a seat at one of the tables.
"Let's wait here until other guy come."
GM Frost |
Agnis intently stares at Aleksandr. "Okay, as you say. I am just offering you what I seem best for my customers and I don't think it is unfair to offer a righteous price for the best offer I can give. Anyway, I will take your order if you want to eat, and wait for my husband if you want, too." she says flatly to everyone. "So, may I take your orders?
She is hinting you to Gather Information from nearby locals. You are not also sure if it wise to get information from one person only.
Aleksandr Ostenoff |
While they wait, Aleksandr makes conversation with the locals.
Diplomacy (gather information): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Imelia will not be manifested at this time so as not to frighten any of the locals.
Shagrat the Goblin Runelord |
Once he's bored of sitting, Shagrat begins walking around the tavern. Whenever he seems something shiny or interesting, he stops to talk with a patron.
"You see a little leafy guy in here before?" he asks whoever will listen.
diplo (gather info): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Khagra, Skewerspike |
Having failed at asking questions back at the docks Khagra follows his allies, ready to be intimidating if necessary, but leaving the nice talking to the silvertongues.
GM Frost |
Agnis provides Desmond as soon as he orders them, a bread and cheese and a big mug of ale. ”Here you go, eat well,” she says.
Aleksandr stands up and goes to talk to anyone outside the tavern and inquire about Rain. He fortunately is able to talk to an old man in a red funny hat.
”Rain you say?” he says while scratching his temple under his hat, ”Ah, the leshy, isn't it? I found him enter that Three-Legged Frog inn. Poor guy, I was able to talk to him for a short while when I was basking under the sun with sea breeze. He said that his provisions and the pack mule that he’d stabled at the Three-Legged Frog inn were stolen. So unfortunate, tsk, tsk. I can't even help him, just a poor guy here. I haven't seen him again but he said that he will meet his guide, he hadn't mentioned guid to where.” he tells you with a sad face.
”Ah, I need to go, pale man. Have to buy some spinach. You know, you need some sun.” the old man tells Aleksandr with a grin of spaced-out teeth in his mouth, pointing to his skin and waves a goodbye.
On the other, Shagrat followed by Khagra, is able to talk to a patron reading a book. He looks to the them with inquiring look under his eyeglasses and a raised eyebrow. He doesn't like to be disturbed, but he gives them a quick answer.
”A leafy guy? Like a leshy? I am here every night in this tavern to sip some tea and read some books I purchased. One not so fine night, it was raining cats and dogs actually, I saw this leshy with a hat, drenched with water from the outside's tempest. I overheard their conversation with the innkeeper.” The patron looks around to check if somebody listens other than them. He signals them to get closer tp him and whispers, ”It seems the leshy showed up late due to bad weather and had to pay increased costs at the inn as a result.”
He looks at his watch and stands up. ”Ah! Time flies fast when you read. It is already late night, I have to go.” He gives you a nod and leaves you afterwards.
After more than an hour, some of you are able to gather information about the leshy. Soon after, Roland comes in for his late night shift. Agnis whispers something to him and points out to your location inside the inn. He approaches you and greets everyone, just in time for Aleksandr, Shagrat and Khagra to return.
Shagrat the Goblin Runelord |
Shagrat first reports to the rest of his companions.
"Seem like Rain have bad start to Confirmation. He have to pay extra for stay here because he come in late. Bad weather too. Maybe other bad things happen before he even start," Shagrat speculates.
Desmond Vilks |
"His supplies were stolen? How did he continue his Confirmation with no supplies? Maybe he never even made it out of the town. He could still be here or nearby." The medic looks out to the mud-packed streets with a worried expression.
When Roland arrives and approaches, Desmond asks, "Are you Roland? We're looking for our friend, Rain. Do you know where he is?"
Zhamie Zhapp |
"Oui. Ve vere told you vere ze last vone to see 'im. Did you know vere he vent?"
Zhamie is still feeling a little queasy but the tea makes her better. Most likely a good night's sleep will fix it.
GM Frost |
Ronald responds, ”Yes, Rain in Cloudy Day did arrive here, albeit late. A day after the leshy arrived, he set out into the Blackwood Swamp, and he hasn’t been seen for nearly two weeks.”
GM Frost |
”Ah, unfortunately, Rain did not give me much detail about his going. All he told is he is going to the Blckwood Swamp. I am sorry if I am of no help. It seems you waited for me, Agnis told me.” Ronald says as it starts to rain heavily outside. The angry sea's muted roar can also be heard from the inside of the inn.
”It seems tonight would be a long night of heavy rain. If you have no place to stay, you can do so here at a fair price.” he says as he listens to the torrential rain outside.
”But Agnis told me you do not intend to stay here to look for your friend, but you are probably stuck here tonight. Your call anyway,” Ronald adds.
GM Frost |
”As for the accommodations, the food you already ordered is already included if you would like to stay here for the night. We can offer you what we call the Best Rooms we have for 5 gp each, in which we also upgrade your breakfast for tomorrow, if you know what I mean,” Ronald explains with a wink, ”or you can avail our Good Rooms as we call it, with a basic room and quality breakfast for just 2.5 gp each. Or if you don't want to stay her for the night, well, it is okay, I think the hostel nearby offers 1 gp each for their room.” Ronald adds with shrug, in which you would notice were almost the same words Agnis told you, as if it is their spiel for every potential customer. Husband and wife, indeed.
Zhamie Zhapp |
"Oui. I agree. I think ve should take ze middle rooms. Ze good rooms. Ve don't 'ave ze gold for ze Best Rooms."
Shagrat the Goblin Runelord |
Shagrat does have one question remaining, which he asks Ronald.
"Why Rain have to pay more cuz he's late? If weather slow him down and he come late, you charge customer more?" the goblin asks with a raised eyebrow.
GM Frost |
Ronald seems furious but tries to talk calmly. "Who told you that?! Such a malicious accusation! We don't do that here." Ronald responds indignantly to Shagrat's question, thinking he is accused of taking advantage of people with their business. Now he can't contain much of his anger really at all. He almost lets go of the glass of water he is holding. He drinks all of its contents to keep himself calm.
"I'm sorry. Agnis will take over me for your accommodations," Ronald says and leaves the party. In a short while, Agnis comes to you table.
"What happened? Ronald looks red but he says you'll take your accommodations here. What room you will be reserving then?" she asks.
Shagrat the Goblin Runelord |
Shagrat raises an eyebrow at the innkeeper's reaction to the accusation of having to pay more. Not one to back down, he charges ahead with the line of questioning.
"Shagrat have witness that saw you charge more to leshy--he say that leshy show up late because bad weather, and have to pay more at inn as result. We just trying to figure it out--get mad or not--you pick."
diplo: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
GM Frost |
Shagrat's words fall into deaf ears as Ronald has already left. Agnis takes you to your Good Rooms. You all have a good night's sleep and a quality breakfast. The weather is now fine and sunny outside and you head out to the Blackwood Swamp to find Rain in Cloudy Day.
After departing Cassomir, you begin your investigation of the adjacent Blackwood Swamp by travelling north. The area outside Cassomir is boggy wetland filled with dangers at every turn, especially as you get further from the relative safety of the city.
These are your Exploration modes based on your inputs in the Macros. Tell if you want to make some changes.

"Now this my kind of place," Shagrat says as he scouts ahead.
"And this is the place where you'll get a wound infected and end up needing your leg amputated." He sighs as they begin trudging through the swamp. "Try to keep your feet dry too if you can."
Zhamie Zhapp |
Zhamie pursues a lead -- Active Investigation is now the Case of the Missing Leshy...
Aleksandr Ostenoff |
Aleksandr brings Imelia back from the Ethereal plane to accompany him on his journey. He does his best to protect her as they walk, while she keeps watch for danger.
Act Together allows a summoner and their eidolon to take separate exploration activities.
Aleksandr: Repeat a spell (protect companion)
Imelia: Search
We have 2 people scouting. It makes no sense to have more than one person scout as the bonus won't stack.
GM Frost |
I agree, actually three, Shagrat is also scouting. I suggest you do Search or Track, since you are looking for Rain. It will improve your chances in finding him. Tell if you want to make changes before we move.
GM Frost |
Your exploration activity? Yes, please.
Shagrat the Goblin Runelord |
Shagrat the Goblin Runelord wrote:"Now this my kind of place," Shagrat says as he scouts ahead."And this is the place where you'll get a wound infected and end up needing your leg amputated." He sighs as they begin trudging through the swamp. "Try to keep your feet dry too if you can."
"You never meet a goblin before?" Shagrat asks, not at all concerned with the warning.
I'll do search instead.
Khagra, Skewerspike |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Graeyson: Being level 1 Shagrat doesn't have any skills that are expert and is searching which doesn't involve skills checks (uses perception). I went ahead and put search for you on the sheet.

Random PC to step into the quicksand: 1d6 ⇒ 5
As you explore the Blackwood Swamp, Zhamie is able to follow and identify some tracks, and finds it matches a fungal leshy’s tread, along with tattered cloth bearing Pathfinder symbols. This is later confirmed by Graeyson and Khagra. However, your party eventually come across a dangerous patch of swampy quicksand, in which Graeyson doesn’t notice and accidentally steps into it when you find yourselves having progress in finding Rain in Cloudy Day. A 15-foot wide patch of water and sand attempts to submerge Graeyson. He sinks into the quicksand up to his waist!
