Seeing her riffle ineffective, Isuma just stays behind.

Hyrsek moves forward and goes for the red alien.

With the ambush concluded, you do a bit of a search but find this to be just a corridor in the caves the mi-go used to get over surprised visitors. Fortunately, your careful approach gave you a knack on this.

She's so good at jinxing the foes that her friends barely got her...all thanks to her. No applause needed. I know I'm good.

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

The search produces no extra results and the party advances deeper into the tunnels. The air remains thick with swirling green spores, clinging to the slick walls like a living thing. The damp stone is choked with sickly yellow and black fungi, pulsing faintly in the dim light.

The path ahead splits into two corridors, one veering north, the other south, each shrouded in shadows and thickening mold. The silence is oppressive, broken only by the occasional wet plop of fungal growths releasing more spores into the stagnant air.

Isuma wrinkles her nose "Even with the protective magic, I feel like I will be coughing up mushrooms for a week"

Hyrsek runs a gloved hand over a patch of mold, rubbing the residue between his fingers "This is not just natural decay. Something, or someone, has been cultivating it. I wonder if the aliens that brought Therrace attention..."

Rhoreen looks at Isuma glad for her mask (and the magical protective air bubble) and shrugs.

"Could be coughing up worse things, like blood, I guess," she responds and keeps looking ahead.

Rhoreen looks to go south at the intersection and waits for others to lead the way.

Rūha inspects the fungal pods before turning toward the south "I imagine the mi-go find this kind of environment comforting and homey. If we find some that are peaceful, we could even try to find out." She slightly shakes her head, expecting that to be unlikely. She takes the lead to the south and keeper her autograpnel at the ready in case more foes appear.

The stone corridor opens into a long, dank cavern, the ceiling rising twenty feet overhead. The sound of dripping moisture echoes off mold-covered walls.

Sunlight filters through the ceiling at a spot in the western side of the cave where grotesque strands of dangling, slimy fungus covers the cave.

Rūha looks up "Glad we have a little bit of a vent hole. Though I suppose with the air bubbles we don't necessarily need it." She looks to the east end of the current cavern and shines a flashlight that way "Odd that they left this portion unused. Or maybe they chose not to use it because it has too much fresh air?" She shakes her head. Stowing her autograpnel for a moment, she takes out a javelin and probes the ground ahead of her as she advances in case the muck is hiding hazards on the ground.

Assuming nothing too exciting happens to Khalia, Rūha will head eastward and check the next tunnel

Meanwhile, with great agility Khalia climbs to the rocks and roots and moves away the vegetation to check the chamber above and sees:

H7. Howls in the Dark
The narrow tunnel opens up into a foul-smelling muck-filled chamber, the ceiling ten feet overhead decorated by a tangle of mucus-like dangling filaments that form an unnerving canopy. Some mass of plant matter floats in the ooze at the cave’s northern corner.

Foul, almost liquid fungus grows in this cave, slowly draining to the area below. The slurry is only one foot deep, and moving through it is akin to traversing a shallow bog.

Four brightly colored, long-necked amphibians look at Khalia as she shows up her head. The creatures have six legs, a fanged snout, and numerous finlets running down their spines.

As Khalia's voice echoes through the chamber in the eerie tones of Aklo, the vooniths pause, their long necks craning unnaturally to take her in. Their bulbous eyes gleam with an unsettling intelligence, but rather than reply, the four creatures share a low, rumbling croon that vibrates through the air like the prelude to something far worse.

Then, with a sudden lurch, one of them tilts back its head and lets loose a piercing, warbling howl, an alien sound that seems to claw at the nerves and freeze the blood. The echoes slither along the tunnels, announcing the intruders to whatever lurks deeper in the cave.

Everyone within 30 feet (all but Yambul it seems) must make four DC 17 Will save or be dazed for 1 round and shaken 1d6 ⇒ 1.

Even as the howl fades, one of them, the largest, tilts its head at Khalia, its sharp-toothed snout splitting into something akin to a grin.

"Hurt us? Or will we be the ones laughing?" it croaks in Aklo, amusement lacing its voice. The other three let out hissing chuckles, the sound thick with anticipation.

The largest one, the first to howl, tilts its head, then croaks a response "The Dominion? Pah! We serve them as long as it suits us. They give us meat, we give them warning. It is an easy trade"

The creatures do not descend to the lower cave, but as soon as the big one says this, they all four shriek once more.
Indeed, it is sonic, mind-affecting fear effect, and there are 4 more saves, but you do not have to roll for those individuals you have passed.

When they finish, the voonith continues "But you... You bring metal and fire, bows and blades. You are not here to trade. You are here to take. Is that not right?"

One of the vooniths, smaller but no less menacing, leans down, eyes gleaming with amusement "Perhaps we let you pass... if you make us laugh first. A joke, a tale, something worthy of the swamp. Else we fill it with your bones"

Rhoreen laughs despite herself at Khalia's humor. She hopes the attempt is good enough, after all, it worked on her.

I think she's made all her saves, so no rolls for Rhor.

The vooniths pause, their elongated heads swiveling toward Khalia. A beat of silence stretches between them. Then, the largest one lets out a gurgling croak, something between a chuckle and a growl.

The smaller voonith, the one who had issued the challenge, twitches its snout and then cackles, a sharp, hissing sound "Hah! That one is good. But... is she fast enough to carry a torch?"

Another joins in the laughter, their sharp-toothed grins splitting wider. The largest one inclines its head "You amuse us, fire-bringer. The swamp does not demand your bones this day"

The vooniths' laughter fades into the echoing cave below. With a last flick of their tails, they retreat into the shadows above, their bodies blending with the damp rock and gloom.

Yambul comes to his senses a moment later, surprised there aren't foes gnawing on his skull.

"Where'd they go?" he inquires, revving his chainsaw.

Ruha cranes her neck to try to see more of the other chamber without much success "I suppose that means we can walk through their room without getting attacked, but we can't count on much from them. They admitted to trading favors with the Dominion after all. Do we try to go through their cave while they're honoring this retreat, or go over to the east instead?"

While Ruha's inclined to head northwest while the party can, she'd like to prioritize checking the likely dead end to the east first.
