[Jehova's Arena, Test] Fight the Thirtieth, Arak vs. Yarün

Play-by-Post

Arak enters to an almost empty arena, audience-wise, but there are three creatures waiting for him on far other side of the sands. He takes his place just outside of his gate.

Arak A10, Yarün L10, Keyen L09, Veyen L11. Initiative/pre-game time.

Male Hobgoblin

Arak enters bloodied and bruised after his last fight, his ego is wounded while he stands read for combat. A sour look upon his face as he syes the small horde of enemies across the arena.

I will not fail again your blood will dress me before days end!!

Arbiter:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Inti: 9

Yarün the Frugal

Yarün stands a good 6'8" tall. With stringy, matted, black hair, a tremendous underbite showing off some serious teeth, and rather bulging musculature, he is the epitome of orc. He wears no armor, and only a disgusting looking loincloth for clothing. He carries nothing but a large broken-off tree branch and what appears to be a sack of coins, with a smaller branch tucked (probably quite uncomfortably) into his loincloth area. He is flanked on each side by a feral looking velociraptor. Though the two dinosaurs are dwarfed by their master, they appear more than capable of some flesh-tearing. Neither wears any armor or manufactured item of any kind.

As Yarün takes his place on the sand he raises the bulging coin-purse to his mouth and savagely rips it open, spilling the gold onto the sand and hurling the empty sack after it. He lets loose a guttural roar.

Initiatives:
Yarün 1d20 ⇒ 16
Keyen 1d20 ⇒ 10
Veyen 1d20 ⇒ 17

Yarün 14, Keyen 13, Veyen 20.

Male Hobgoblin

..Come and get me your pets will find nothing but steel and death!

Yarün the Frugal

URGHRUUUUK!

Yarün, making no sign that he has understood Arak's words, snarls angrily in the direction of his opponent, gesturing with his stick. The animals to his sides snarl in response, and attack, each rushing across the sand incredibly fast to claw at their enemy.

Keyen and Veyen charge to K9 and K11, respectively.

Attacks:

Keyen Charge Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Veyen Charge Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Keyen Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Veyen Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Keyen 21 to hit, 7 damage. Veyen 11 to hit, 6 damage.

Yarün himself stays where he is, snarls, and sways back and forth, pressing one hand against the ground and holding his branch aloft with the other.

Spellcraft DC 16:
Shillelagh.

The branch seems to solidify as he does so, its peeling bark re-wrapping itself around the core, and its splintered tip hardening into a cap of solid wood.

Male Hobgoblin

Keyen's talons rip through the heavy layers of leather and lighter steel on Arak's thigh leaving visous wounds, soon to be trophies of a battle hard wone. Arak lashes out at Keyen with his great blade slashing viciously as his eyes start to blaze with a blood lust. Move to L9.

arbiter:
Rage free action. Attack 1.1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 Damage 1.1d10 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

Feel my steel!

Attack 1. 25
Damage 1. 17

End Round 1.

Yarün the Frugal

Keyen collapses onto the sand beneath the vicious blow, and Veyen angrily screeches.

The still-concious velociraptor moves toward her foe and lashes out with both claws and teeth. A moment later, Yarün stampedes across the sand, bringing his branch to bear on the hobgoblin.

Attacks:

Veyen Full Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 11d20 ⇒ 81d20 ⇒ 8
Yarün Charge: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Yarün Confirm: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Yarün Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2) = 6

Veyen, blinded by fury, misses with both claws and her bite, but Yarün connects solidly with his piece of tree.

16 damage from Yarün's charge.

Veyen now in K10, Yarün in K09 (it is legal to occupy the same square as another creature so long as it is helpless).

Keyen Stablization:

1d20 ⇒ 6
Keyen is stable at -2hp.

Male Hobgoblin

The charging beast brings a mighty blow down upon Arak with what is little more then a stick.. an insult to be hit by such a twig, one that will not go unpunished. This creatures pets will die in front of him!

arbiter:
Attack 1.1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Attack 1. Arak's massive blade slams down just short of the Raptors snout.

Yarün the Frugal

Yarün lets out something approximating a chuckle at the failed blow, and Veyen strikes back at the nasty creature that felled her friend.

It would be smarter here for Veyen to delay until after Yarün moves for the flanking bonus, but as she's not technically intelligent I don't think that's a fair move. This is how I'll be treating non-intelligent combatants in the arena. <-- Disregard, Uncanny Dodge.

After Veyen attacks, Yarün takes a step to the side and brings his club around for another blow, before thrusting his head forward and attempting to bite into the hobgoblin's face.

Attacks:

Veyen Full Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 61d20 ⇒ 201d20 ⇒ 12
Yarün Full Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 151d20 ⇒ 11
Veyen Confirm: 1d20 ⇒ 20 <-- woah
Veyen Damage: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 = 9
Yarün Damage: 3d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 6, 2) + 10 = 21

Veyen misses with her first claw, but the second tears a nasty gash into Arak. Her bite scrapes off of his armor. Yarün's branch comes smashing down with serious heft, dropping his foe beneath its weight.

Veyen deals 9 damage with a claw, Yarün does 21 more with his branch.

Male Hobgoblin

Arak crumples into something resembling a corpse crossed with a stump as small tree seems to be sticking out of his shoulder cavity.....

Arak.. well he is sooo dead

Yarün the Frugal

Yarün roars his victory to the sky, and dislodges his stick from the broken remains of Arak. He then presses his hand against Keyen, who awakens and nuzzles up against the orc. The trio walk contentedly back through their gate, ignoring the blood and gold that coat the ground. They seem happy with just one another and some sticks.
