Navarre "Two-Fingers" |
'Or we could keep searching the building to see if there is a key.' Sighing, Navarre resist the urge to speak his mind, Lazar had been understanding enough to stop searching the other room, Navarre could respect his desire to open this door. Lifting a finger, he answered, "Give me a minute." Sheathing the shortsword, he tuck the blade into his belt, while drawing from his pace they crowbar they had found on the dead body. "But If I can't get it after a couple of tries, we look for the key, right?"
Jamming the crowbar in between the door and the door jamb, he holds onto the crowbar with both hands. Putting a boot on the face of the door, he grunts pulling the crowbar with his hands and pushing the door with his foot. Feeling something 'give' on the door, "I think that will do it."

Talia looks at the pointy ball thing and then shrugs before she replies, "It is hard to say what it is but I would guess at best it is a Sa’angreal as I expect whatever magic it contained was expended or it would pose a continuous problem which it appears it does not. It seems that once triggered it must be recharaged and a Ter’angreal would be a much more permanent form of magical effect."

RIZZENMAGNUS |

Jak shrugs, a subtle exasperated growl rumbling his throat. Youre the expert. He squats down onto his heels, and looks up at Talia. Do we leave it alone? or can i grab it?

WIth a heavy heave, the door silently swings open on well oiled hinges. But it's the weight of the door itself that surprises navarre.
two feet thick, with a greater thickness upon the door frame to support the large security door.

Ceirn |

"That is fine craftsmenship. I do not think I have seen such a door in the Wetlands." Ceirn says as he looks in wonder at the thick door that is hung so well.

Lazar Tehran |

"It being a vault door explains a lot, not a lot of craftsmen of my caliber have ever had the pleasure of well getting a crack at it" He says admitting the craftsmanship before he peers into the Vualt area

The ball of light held in Garl's hand pushes back the darkness of the room, revealing a vault holding strange objects, large and small resting upon shelves on the walls, and two narrow tables tucked into the narrow side of the room.
immediate, in front of the door, a desk stands with two oil lamps resting its two forward corners. Carved into the sides are creatures of unknown origin, appearing to leap from the imagination of the woodworker and onto the hardened canvas. Claws and fangs, hook bills and large paws, all manner of unknown creature are sculpted into the wood. Rubbed into the grains is a varnish, yellowed over age and use.
However, it is the odd red tinge that is set upon the desktop surface that draws your eye. atop the desk, in the front, in the center where one visitor would sit to discus whomever sits behind and in command of the desk, a large red stain coats most of the front third, stretching from left to right.
Yet, there are other objects that conceal the red stain, neatly stacked papers, a couple of books (one with a quill feather marking the place two thirds down in one such book), an ink station with ink jar, blotter, sand, and metal tipped quills within easy reach of any one who would sit within the short, plush chair that is turned to the right of the desk, awaiting someone to return. In the center, where all the reading and writing would be conducted, a single sheet of paper lays, large and small dots upon it. Words, smaller and larger, are written in a hurried hand, and from your position, unable to be easily read. Yet one word, written in clear writing, reads Waygates.
a spear, brightly polished, gleaming in the orbs light, shaft snapped off six inches above the spearhead. Upon the note card, a simple note reads Taken from spear maiden of Jenn Aiel.
everyone! make perception checks!

Navarre "Two-Fingers" |
Moving cautiously into the 'vault' Navarre heads to the far side of the desk. Looking at the red stain, then the contents in general, he shifts his head, attempting to read the words, smaller and larger, written in a hurried hand.

Ceirn looks at the notes and says, "It looks like a guide for the Ways. But why would they want to get to this stedding with ter'angreal?"
He then walks over to another shelf and reaches to pick up a broken spear which he examines.

Ceirn |

Ceirn tucks the spear tip into his bag and then moves to check on the blood.
Heal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 I am going to say its just some thick dried wine.

Ceirn |

"This substance could have been a clue as to what happened here. And the spear should not be. This place is an oddity. But we should move to clear the building as quickly as we can." Ceirn says in reply to Garl.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

so, where to next? just a reminder, the slides are found at the top of the page here, and you can move your tokens.
Not getting an answer from Talia, Jak shrugs and stands up.
Very true. Let us not dally with the small stuff. Let us see if we can find this missing man. he walks off, near silent upon the hard wood floors, his stride and stance reminding everyone as that of a predator hunting prey.
Jak steps up to another door in the hall, and tries the knob. unlocked he mutters to no one, and gently pushes the door open.

Navarre "Two-Fingers" |
Looking from Talia to Jak, as the man headed down the hallway, Navarre reiterated. "Did you find anything interesting? We saw the little ball, that's what I assumed was part of a trap and poisoned that thief." He looked back over his shoulder and asked quietly, "Did the Aes Sedai say anything else?"
As Jak opened the next door, Navarre, with borrowed shortsword in hand, follows him in the room and glances about.

not seeing anyone else reply...
With the light brought into the room, you find yourself standing in a large dining room, with a table pushed against the wall. To your immediate right, you see more books upon three bookshelves set into the wall. To your left, you see a partially opened door leading into darkness.
Jak looks around, and grunts. Huh. Not much to see in here. Obviously the dining room, where the man ate. Or men.... We dont know how many live here... his voice trails off, and his hand lowers to the dagger on his belt.
Let's check out the open door. Jak says, stepping quickly to the open door pulling it open into the dining room.

Do we think we have more building to search? I am a bit lossed on if we have missed areas.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

i have posted at the top of this page the map of the building your in. The covered areas are places you havent looked at yet. The revealed ares are the areas you have been to. Each player can move their token on the page to where they want to go. Just have to say " hey, i moved on the board to here". You are responsible for for moving your character token.

Hot seeing much of interest in the dinning room, Kunala moves to the door in the corner of the room. Assuming it's the kitchen or a servants entrance, he quickly opens the door.

Kunala?

Ceirn |

Just to confirm, the SW area on our floor does not seem to have a door right?
"There is another floor to search. We should at least make a cursory trip through it before we leave." Ceirn says and then continues, "There is much that is odd here. I think it would be prudent to learn more."

Talia Ze'atsev |

OCC:Apologies for my silence busy life drains daily energy was too pooped to pop.
Talia was focussed on visually scanning the vault wondering if anything within would be recognizable as to something she had seen or heard about and missed hearing Jak's question. She then moves over to the desk with the others checking to see if there were a way to light the lamps. Then when asked, checks the red substance to see if it were blood or something else. Also does it appear dry or wet.
If she cannot get the lamps lit she will as usual follow the light source.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

@ceirn: correct. there is no door.

Navarre "Two-Fingers" |
Recognizing that he'd found the kitchen, Navarre cuts through the kitchen coming out into the hallway. See some of the others he points back towards the kitchen with the aquired shortsword. "Kitchen and back door are that way." Nodding towards the open area ? across from the stairwell, "I'll take a quick look in here."

Any info for the lower left room where Navarre is?

Ceirn |

"I will move to the next floor and see if there is anyone there." Ceirn says as he heads that way.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

jak notices that Talia isnt with the rest of the group.
I am going to backtrack to Talia. Keep an eye on her. Just do a quick visual of the area. I am pretty sure whatever we need to look for will be found in that safe room... He shuffles off down the hall.
Garl stands at the bottom of the steps, his glowing object lighting everything around him.
before you, resting on a narrow pallet on the ground, is a short stack of books. A heavy leather protects the cover, with the image of a simple man leaning upon a pole with his back to the reader. Beyond him, in landscape, shows different locations. A desert, a tropical island, a mountain range, a city. In gold figures upon the top, it says "The adventures of Jain Farstrider". Elsewhere in the room, the glint of metal shines off of shadowy, concealed objects large and small. the tinge of oil tickles your nose, along with the acrid taint of glues, paints.

Ceirn crouches near the top and listens for anyone who might be up here.
Did I see any windows on this level that might be opened to let in more light?
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 Poo..

Garl Bowyer |

The young man stands there, shaking his head as he watches the group scatter, knowing how little light is available, but also knowing he can't go with everyone at the same time. No reason to trust the Aiel enough to be alone with him, though, so he steps toward Navarre and Lazar.

Ceirn |

I hope the break work was completed and that it is working for you now. That does not sound fun.
Ceirn remains on the stairs listening and waiting for the others to finish searching the lower floor.

Talia Ze'atsev |

Having established light within the vault Talia works at more closely investigating everything within. She is specifically looking for the book they came here for but she is also looking for anything significant or that might explain what has occurred here or considering the owner anything that might help her help the world.
OCC:I have not gotten a response to whether the red is blood or not blood and if it is wet or dry -- if wet I would have assumed it soaked into that piece of paper describe lying atop of it but if not I would be intrigued as to why the paper did not asborb the liquid seeming blood.
