Brig considers the suggestion on fire, then looks at the narrow alleys and pressed in buildings of their city "Might get out of hand." her furrowed frown of worry speaking a lot about what could happen if it did.

"Stealth" the big woman votes. Then thinks about the blood veil.

Before Zahur creeps off to investigate, Kayleigh temporarily removes the heavy kerchief that covers her nose and mouth, then quietly informs the others of a potential handicap if undead have found and/or overtaken the body dump.

"As part of my calling as a healer, I took a holy oath. Part of the trade-off for my enhanced healing capabilities is that I can't use my positive energy channels to harm undead...so let's hope there aren't any lurking about!" That said, she replaces the kerchief and prepares for trouble.

D1 Racker’s Alley
The high walls of the surrounding buildings throw this awkwardly bent alley into constant shadow. Although littered with garbage and filth, the refuse isn’t the most stomach turning trait of this rundown side way.

Heaped against a bent wooden wall rises a pile of more than three dozen plague victims, their faces blistered and flushed, eyes open and staring.

The scent of death is overpowered by the reek of rot, suggesting that some of these corpses have been here for days, but even a casual glance reveals that certain bodies seem strangely pale compared to most of the victims who succumb to the sickness.

During the day, Racker’s Alley is thick with fat flies and rats gorging themselves on the corpses.

Zahur slips quietly into the alley, getting no reaction from the gorged rats.

Perception DC16:

With a successful DC 16 Perception check, a PC confirms that not only are many of the bodies drained of blood, but that nearly half of them bear no signs of blood veil at all—merely twin puncture wounds on their necks, wrists, or inner thighs.

As Zahur gets closer to the pile of bodies he can see a hole in the eastern wall, leading into area D2.

What are you doing now?

Zahur sneaks back towards the others. "You have some pretty good eyes, being able to see it without getting close to them." He says to Vedika. "But not all the bodies are like that, just about half... perhaps who did it was trying to hide the fact by throwing the bodies with the others."

He then points back to the pile of corpses. "There is also a hole in the wall."

Are you sure you want to do that?

I'll be nice here as you seem to be hesitating. The Vampire spawn are all asleep. It is midday so they are very weak. Anyone with any stealth has a good chance of getting beside one of the spawn and staking them as they are at -10 to perception while snoozing.

So give me your roles when you act!

She sneaks up...

Coup de grace, assuming that my Stealth roll wasn't bad enough to wake them all up.

Brig has issues with someone going into that hole alone, so even though there is danger of her waking the creatures up, she follows Vedika into the den. Being REALLY careful, more careful than her bulk should be, she moves to another of the spawn, waiting until Vedika starts to slam the handle of her favorite pick into one of their heart, and does the same with her second favorite.

Anything over 23 can't be detected so Brigita is fine. Vedika & Brigita go in and stake two Vampire spawn. They can't be Coup de graced (Is that a word?). But a stake through the heart is instant death anyway. You just have to remember to take the head off before removing the stake.

Anyone else going to give it a try. Two down already.

@Zahur. You can keep your first roll. So three Vampire spawn dead.

Ariadne sadly steps on a brittle piece of garage as she tries to slip into the room. The last surviving Spawn springs to his feet and tries to attack, but has to flinch back as Kayleigh's brandished Holy symbol blazes holy light in his face!

We'll end it there. One left and he can't get close so you pepper him till he's down and then stake him.

You steel yourselves take their heads as evidence and to prevent their rising again.

If they get sick, the blood veil probably kills them, so they're not around to complain. The salesperson moves on to another market with a pocket full of gold."

"We can't just buy all the samples, that tells the seller that there's a bigger pot of gold out there and they'll just come up with a more elaborate scam. People need an alternative outlet, something that peels them off from the market with a better promise of a cure, and something that discredits the seller."

"If I were evil, I would say something like, infect the seller—or credibly appear to infect them—with blood veil, then publicly challenge them to use their product to 'cure' it. Obviously they will be desperate for a real cure, which could damage their credibility."

Given the tone of things in the city already, Ariadne joins the expedition to the Lavender boutique, much expecting massive crowds and the possibility of a riot, and fully prepared to end up having to pacify the crowd.

Looking at Vedika in surprise, her assessment of her companion's strategy is impressed by the soundness of the idea, notwithstanding the moral issues of willingly infecting someone with a potentially fatal disease.

"It's likely skipping a head would cause a problem, what with our 'not quite official' standing with the guard." she points out. "People are likely to just see us as taking advantage of being better armed than everyone else, to jump the line."

Brig frowns at the people, sick and otherwise. She agrees with the others, but then walks all the way back the store front shouting "COVER YOUR NOSE AND MOUTH! WHETHER YOU FEEL SICK OR NOT! IT HELPS!" the intimidating looking woman with arms as thick as most legs and a massive silver hammer in her hand giving medical advice through volume is at least doing so through a covering of her own on her face.

intimidation: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19 which might dampen her attempted OBEY ME medical practicing :)

She shouts this over and over until she gets to the front and then pokes her head in the shop to ask (or to a guard/clerk at the door), "We need spare cloth, any spare cloth, otherwise you'll have more sick in here than not. I will pay for them. Then return in line for... " she waves her hand at the shop.

Not attempting to break line for the cure, just hoping they have cheap spare cloth she can hand out that people can wrap around their faces.
diplomacy?: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29

While the girls stay in the line, Zahur moves around to take a better look at the building, entering the nearby alleys.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 If needed

Are you sure you want to do that?

Use the Rackers alley map. It has been updated to show the shop. C1 on the map is the shop.

Those that showed the early signs of Blood veil are already being kept at a distance, Brigita's words get some attention with several people passing scarves or cloth back to the ailing to get them to cover up.

Most however firmly hold their place in the queue and look around with hostility to make sure no one gets in front of them.

Zahur can that behind the store are two doors, one seems to be being used, there is a path from the back of the store to it. Likely an apartment.

The other is bordered up and shows no signs of use.

What now?
