The slime residue burns so much. She takes the fluid and quickly drinks it down, bringing some much needed relief. The aftertaste is horrible.
Still, no time like the present. She keeps her guard up and swings twice more. "I will need a bath after we finish this. And we need to clean our armors."

Roark's electric arc jolts both oozes violently, sparks fly and smoke curls up from the mish-mash of bits making up the creatures. A few gull feathers burst into flames as the orange pile falls apart under the focused attacks.
The red one though lumbers ahead towards the black gull, flailing ineffectively. Roark notices these oozes lack the vigor of the first one.

The wet smell of mold and mildew is now enhanced by a smokey bbq aroma. In no time at all the sticky slime slowing you down dries up and falls off. The wounds however still remain.

There are numerous closed doors all around, as well as an open double door ahead of you, leading into what from here looks like a dining area. What do you do next?

Bella lowers her leg, stows her shortbow and goes to retrieve her dagger. "Well done, everyone."
At least the slime is off of her, the stench still remains.
Once the team is ready she moves towards the double door, listens for trouble, and then tries to open it.

Nicole picks up her dagger that she dropped somewhere, and sheathed it on her side. She will be using the shortbow for now. She follows Bella taking the lead.

Bella leads the team in through the open double doors from whence the pair of oozes came. You can easily see their trail heading towards a closed door to your right.
Besides the trail of sewage, a massive table and eight chairs fill the center of this room. Empty shelves line the walls, and soggy carpets cover much of the floor.
When you near the right hand door you can hear the faint sounds of whimpers and gurgling from the other side.

"U-um, I'll hold on to these for now, until we have the place secured a little better," Fran murmurs as she pockets the two unidentified elixirs and follows after Bella and the others. As the group heads into what looks like a dining room, the young woman blinks in alarm at the sound of whimpering coming from behind one of the nearby doors.
"Is there someone else here!? That shouldn't be possible, the oozes would've eaten them or chased them away by now, right?" she whispers.

"Maybe it is the ooze mephit Zarzan mentioned to us to eliminate." Nicole answers Fran, though she is not sure, she just remembered what they were being told to do back then.

Bella swings the door open as quietly as she can revealing overgrown trees and bushes standing in this roofless, muddy courtyard. Mud and slime cake the walls and drip from the leaves onto the soaked ground. In one such mud puddle sits a small winged creature, the source of the whimpers.
Hearing you enter it wipes its face and pulls itself together quickly "I am Nazraz, Prime Assistant to the Egregiously Generous Zarzan. Who are you and why are you coming here?" It asks, a nervous and concerned look on its face.

Bella looks at the subject. "Prime Assistant Nazraz, a pleasure." She curtsies on reaction. "The ever Generous Zarzan says your services are no longer needed. Unless there are other oozes in the vicinity?"

"Nnnnno longer needed?" He stammers in shock. "But what about all of the filthy, nasty, mean oozes? Who else has the smarts and patience to starve them into death over years like I do?" He counters, like he's trying to renegotiate.

"You could destroy them instead. We have already felled three of them." Bella sheathes her dagger and takes a step forward. "So, unless there are more, your contract is complete." This is how business works, yes?

"You killed the oozes already? Really? Crap. Ok, I'm out." It takes to the air, flies past you and out the way you came.
Exploring the rest of the complex confirms there are no more oozes to be found. The place is in remarkably good condition considering how old it is, but its going to need a very deep clean to rid the carpets of ooze trails.

You make your way back to the shore and flag down Snickers. He's not far off and his mood not the best. "Just an all around poor day of fishin'" He laments, sucking down another cig in one long draw before flicking it overboard and reaching for another.

Back at the Rusted Anchor you quickly find Zarzan "Do you have good things to tell me?"

Bella sighs. This negotiation stuff was tough.
She sits back on the boat and inspects her wounds. The smell was repugnant. She was quite thankful Snickers will endure her presentation.
Back at the Rusted Anchor, all she says is "Please draw a bath." and begins looking for the nearest bath room. Wait, she has to draw one herself?

Fran can't help but give a surprised and hearty laugh at Roark's drawing. "Draw a bath...that's really great, heheheh," she giggles. To Zarzan, she nods and then gestures at the four of them, covered in dried ooze slime and sewage. "U-um yes, yes we do. Do you want our report right now or would you rather wait until we've cleaned up a little? I, um, don't really care too much either way but we might drive away other customers if we hang around like this for very long!"

"I stink!" Nicole complains. "Your mephit flies away after he knows we finished the job he is supposed to do." she explains to Zarzan.

"Flew off you say? Sounds about right. Its too bad, sunk cost I guess." Hearing your reports and smelling your smell he nods in agreement and hands over 4 gold pieces each. "Baths would be good. Enjoy your stay." He bows awkwardly and heads off.

Bella inspects the drawing. "Seems quite small. Where do the assistants wait? Where are the the oils and salt?"
She turns to Zarzan. "Your deal seems to have been too open-ended. Narzan planned to wait for the oozes to starve. At least the furniture is mostly intact. You'll need a cleaner association. If we were in Galt, I'd recommend one to you."

Bella figures out how to drop the towel before stepping into the tub. She poured all the water herself! She feels a small sense of pride well up from within. That wasn't so difficult.
Then she realizes she forgot to get the soap, and no one is available to help. So she stands up, walks dripping wet, grabs the soap, and then returns to the tub. Hmm, I need to train more...
Soaking in the tub, she reaches over the edge to grab her prize- a brooch she found, relatively clean. It's not a real jewel, just painted glass- but from ancient Thassilon. She rereads the engraving: "To the Great wizard Meave the Enchantress, cherish this always". Clearly this wizard did not care much about such a bauble. But it will make a good physical reminder of a good story. She rises from the tub and reaches for the towel-
<Sis, you missed a spot!>
Bella almost loses her balance and catches the rim of the tub to balance herself. Water splashes everywhere, soaking the towel she was reaching for.
"Sister, we agreed not to interrupt our baths."
<I know, I know. But there's some slime over there and you're going to regret it later if you don't clean it now.>
Bella checks her arm and sees the grime. With a sigh, she lowers back into the tub and continues scrubbing. "Much more difficult than I thought."

Downtime? What's downtime? Seeing as you're all new recruits you've been very eager to prove yourself and earn some extra coin in the process. Instead of spending a week or two relaxing or maybe studying (ya right) you've put your skills to use in and around Absalom. After spending the day battling sewer oozes on an island off the coast you've all taken a well deserved bath at the less than 5 star Rusty Anchor Inn. The next morning brings new and, as always, urgent opportunity to those that like to 'hustle' for extra coin.

The tired barkeep slides a freshly printed announcement across the table to you as you make your way down for some breakfast.
"Oloria runs Gallentine Deliveries, a.. well, THE courier service in town. Word has it she's been out straight lately and could use some extra help. Place is two buildings down off the second street to the west of here." He dumps some coffee in his eyes to help wake up.
