Hey GM, would you provide a ruling? Officially a "fist" is not a simple weapon. It doesn't really have a category like that except "unarmed." Ruffian Rogues get crit specialization with simple weapons. But do they get it with unarmed? Or do they have to wait to 5th level as per normal?
I really wish they would just say "fist" is a simple weapon. Or even if they said martial artists/monks treat a fist as a simple weapon.

There's a nice bottleneck that we could force them into if we wanted to reposition ourselves during their demands.

Haitian Creole according to google translate. I suspect it started off as a pidgin of . . . . I'm guessing root French and a native Haitian language and then as it began to be spoken natively instead of a trade language it became a creole (a creole is a language that is derived from a pidgin-a mashing together of two languages as a trade language- that has become a fully-fledged language in its own right spoken natively by at least some population.)

Ah, I was half right, it's french and an AFRICAN language, brought over by African slaves, from the Fongbe and Igbo tribes. It uses predominantly French vocab but Fongbe/Igbo grammer. Pretty common for a creole.

Got it in one! Yup I picked a random language that used a similar/the same alphabet as English. And a creole would fit goblins pretty well I feel. I mean their Common for many goblins approaches something similar to one some of the time.

I'm not sure I understand the challenge here.
It looks like we just need to get as many scroll tubes out of the chamber as possible before the room drowns us, which doesn't seem to require much decision making on our part with the available information? What am I missing.

Sorry for the confusion, given this is a repeatable and people have probably played it before, I've moved the order of things around here a little. Traditionally you're supposed to try deciphering things in the room (which has a picture that fits literally none of the options) and then a fight happens, but it makes more sense to take them out and dechiper later. I could just push you into the fight now (and was ready to yesterday, but wanted to make sure the hit point problems were resolved first.)
Today I was trying to preserve player agency, but I can just boot you into the fight instead, if you prefer, or we could try the skill checks in the room as the scenario sets up (which realistically is defenintely not where you want to be exposing old documents. )

OK. I see, I think. The scenario assumes you do all the researching of ancient scrolls in a damp, drippy room that could implode at any moment, which I agree makes no sense. So I was trying to figure out what the puzzle was, but the puzzle is in the scrolls that I wouldn't have thought to open in a damp, drippy room.

btw, how'd I take 6 damage? The 26 isn't a crit. Was it from failing the fort save?

The fort save was for 4 damage. Plus the 2 damage from the non-crit strike.
