1. Please post at least once a day. If you are absent for 24 hours I'll send you a PM. If you're missing for 36 hours I'll mark you inactive and your Player Character will simply delay - that's not fun!
2. Under your name, please add a stat block, so I can quickly find your stats and keep the game moving. You can edit your character's Race, Class/Levels and Gender fields to include information such as:
- Hit Points
- AC
- Saving Throws
- Perception Bonus
3. What about Secret Rolls? Pathfinder 2nd ed has a lot of secret rolls the GM is supposed to make for the players, so the PCs can't react to a bad roll. Any skill with the Secret tag should be rolled privately. If I show the DC, feel free to make the roll openly. Otherwise, there are 2 ways to do this in my games:
- You can say which skill and which bonus you want to apply. (Example: "I use Occultism +5 to investigate the skull's mystic origin.")
- Or you spoiler your dice roll and everyone sticks to the honor system of not opening it.
Once you have your character selected, please post which character you want to apply credit to:
Player name: (OPTIONAL. you, the person on Earth)
Character name: (the PC you want to apply credit to)
Class/Level:
PFS number: (It should look something like 133608-2001.)
Faction:
XP:
Money: (usually written in GP)
Earn Income: (feel free to roll it. Also mention any feats that may impact your job roll.)
Perception Bonus:
Initiative Bonus:

This should be pretty entertaining. The last one was really good.
For the chronicle, is there a level range for the character that it can be applied to?
Tarthrin
Hello, excited for my first one-shot!

Character name: Giles Morningstar II (He is currently in a quest, if I have to apply the chronicle at the beginning of the one shot, It will be assigned to a different character not in a quest.)
Class/Level: Summoner 1
PFS number: 2401867-2001
Faction: Grand Archive
XP: 6
Money: 23.62

Perception Bonus: Giles +3, Ecthelion +3
Initiative Bonus: +3 (Giles and Ecthelion act on the same turn)

Thanks for signing in, everyone.
I don't know if there is a level range for chronicles. All I have is the name of the oneshot. Which is exciting but also frightening for a prep-heavy GM like me.
I should note, I am also running it. I am also really nervous about running it since it'll also be just the second pathfinder 2e game I've GM'd. (I've GM'd a lot more in other systems)
EbonFist
Last time, they put the scenario out at least a little early...early enough someone prepped it so that the pregens were available.
And what's the worst that can happen? The day comes and you're not prepared? Just drop the first gameplay post in and let us RP for a day or 3 while you get up to speed.

Definitely, the only reason I signed up as a GM. I can definitely read up and prep way faster than the speed of a PbP. It's definitely a nice bonus.

I thought for sure I was going to want to play Doc Featherton, but That gun Zindarel has is just too cool.
How about this line up?
Massee - Booker
Tarthrin - Zakzak
Mr Tea - Doc Featherton
EbonFist - Zindarel

Tyranius converted the character sheets to BB Code, so you can create characters on this forum. Click >HERE< to try them out.
I'm almost done with the slides. By the end of this weekend we should be able to start RPing before the game officially starts.
GM chadius
Google Slides are available >HERE<. I've put your icons in a random marching order on slide 2, so feel free to rearrange them (also this will prove that I got editing permissions correct.) The adventure begins on slide 3, in a tavern
Gameplay Thread is open >HERE<. You indeed, meet at a bar. We can RP until October 27, when the game starts in earnest.

Can Zakzak have his weapon drawn for this 1st round since he was playing with it? Fine either way, just so I use the right actions.

Looks like the pregens have been updated, Zakzak should now have a spoongun officially. There might be other changes, so I'd run through your characters.

Stealth is still incorrect, so worth checking the rest.
Massee's Pregen 2.0
Mine was pretty good other than it didn't list a melee attack with reinforced stock. Also had that attack as a d4 instead of a d6 since its a 2h weapon.

@Zindarel, I think you are right about critcal hits, but it looks like the additional die from fatal doesn't get doubled.
Critical Hits
Yyou normally just double the damage, but the rules do provide for GMs to allow you to roll the dice a second time instead. Definitely easier/quicker just to double the damage though.
Fatal
Doubling and Halving Damage "...Benefits you gain specifically from a critical hit, like the flaming weapon rune’s persistent fire damage or the extra damage die from the fatal weapon trait, aren’t doubled."
So it'd be:
1) Increase the die size from D6 to D10
2) Roll the D10 damage and Double the damage
3) Add another D10 from fatal
4) Enemy dies...
That's where I was thinking 3 dice. That would only be accurate if you rolled dice separate for the crit instead of just doubling it.
Not trying to be picky, just trying to understand it for myself, and talking through it with others helps.
Ebon Fist's Pre-Gen
Yeah, I definitely don't have all the rules down (and have an even harder time keeping three similar but slightly different rule sets in my head.)
I think it would be 18 damage, then -
◆ +1 mithral tree vs. Harven: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
piercing: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Fatal?: 2d10 + 1 ⇒ (5, 7) + 1 = 13
The d6 becomes d10 which rolled a 5. That doubled and becomes 10. Then the other d10 gets added so the total becomes 17. Then the +1 gets added which makes it 18.
All assuming it was actually a crit and the guy's AC isn't 21.

Ya its all a learning experience for me. I haven't crit with a fatal weapon yet.
On another note though, I'm really feeling sad for my crossbow ranger when I see the awesomeness that are guns and gunslingers. Giving you a benefit during the wasted reload action is a big deal.
Zakzak_Tarthrin
...

Don't you also double the "+1"?
From doubling damage:
"...When this happens, you roll the damage normally, adding all the normal modifiers, bonuses, and penalties. Then you double or halve the amount as appropriate (rounding down if you halved it).
Ebon Fist's Pre-Gen
Yup. You're right. So...it would have been 19.
I have to say, I prefer PbP but this sort of thing is one advantage of sitting around the table. It's a lot easier to share rules knowledge and clarifications when you can talk it out instead of message back and forth.

Definitely a lot more ret-conning in PbP, but I do enjoy the format a lot.
MrTea Pregen
I only came to PbP (and PF2e) in July (having been doing ttrpg stuff since '87), but I like the format. Mixing PbP and running Age of Ashes on a VTT has been great for learning the rules.
Kind of wish I'd started doing both sooner.

Other than one convention (which is actually for miniatures but has some games), perhaps one or two Saturdays at the FLGS and playing virtually but live with a group every 6 or 7 weeks, these forums are the entirety of my gaming, lately.

Hello everyone. We're about done with this one shot. Thanks for playing.
Please state which character you want to apply credit to. Remember you get double Achievement Points for playing this game.
I'm still figuring out if I have to make character sheets for you.

Crit success, so 2sp per downtime day
How many downtime days do we get for a one-shot?
This is my first pregen/oneshot, As far as I understand, since I don't have any level 3 characters, I can still assign it to one of my level 1s, but I just can't apply it until they hit level 3, right?

I believe you apply it to your 1st but you get gold equal to what you would get for participating in a 1st level scenario, not a 3rd level one.
That's the advantage of treasure bundles. They have a value based on your level, not the level of the scenario.
Zakzak_Tarthrin
I looked up the sanctioning document. I think you're right, it just gives xp and treasure based on your level. For Scragatha that's a nice 14gp plus the 16sp for her earned income roll.
"The Chronicle Sheet gives 4 Experience Point(s), 4 Reputation with one faction, and 10 Treasure Bundles appropriate to a character of their level. It also grants 8 days of Downtime.

It would be interesting to use the "New Sheriff in Town" with other players to play the same characters in another scenario.
