You head through a crowded market square in the Puddles district. A few dozen merchants and shoppers mill about, going about their daily business. Merchants hawk their wares from colorful stalls as a few dozen shoppers mill about a cramped market square, selecting goods, haggling, and making trades. The eclectic vendors here sell everything from clothing, food, and spices to alchemical items and weapons.
The dockhand’s directions indicate you should take the relatively empty street directly north of the market, which leads toward an obviously run-down neighborhood in the distance. When you begin to head down the street, you a strange rush of air followed by sudden shouts of alarm and an incessant buzzing.
Several people at the edge of the market manage to flee immediately, but numerous patrons remain in the area, trying in vain to hide under and behind the market stalls.
You have a choice of either ignoring what's going on and proceeding to the tavern, or you can stay and resolve the current situation. If you stay, you can spend 2 actions to make a Diplomacy, Perform or Initimidate check to get the terrified civilians to move.

Miladistra recalls that the creatures are Enraged Shrouded Bloodseekers, meaner versions of Bloodseekers from the plane of Shadow. They attach themselves to victims and drain their blood. Because these are from the plane of shadow, they are concealed in bright light as if they are in dim light.

After taking a moment too long to figure out where all the buzzing was coming from, Torrent spots one of flying dark balls attached to Tarkii. Running towards him she shouts, "Don't move Tarkii!! Unless you want to be stabbed or burned!" She then channels all her strength into her gillhook, Bugs don't like fire, right? let's do fire... and then begins fusing intense heat to her weapon. Torrent then thrusts the flaming hook towards the shadowy creature.

I'm so glad there is no benefit of a Bloodseeker critically hitting! They did 6 damage to me right, not 8? I'm already missing 5, so I'm at a total of -11 (plus drained 1, but that's temporary).
Arlen looks at the bloodseeker with disgust as it begins to drain his life. Fortunately, the creature is right where Arlen wanted it to be.
Arlen channels raw magical power into his tattoos focusing all the energy where the bloodseeker is currently sucking as he throws two quick punches into the creature. The tattoo flashes with bright blue light, blasting the bloodseeker with electrical energy that arcs to another.

One hit but the other caught only air. He then sends an electric spark jumping between Circle and Octagon. Octagon sizzles but Circle manages to completely elude the spark.
