Dire's PbP "Table Rules" -

0 - RL > Game. No other rules trump rule 0! :D

1 - I'd like it if everyone posted once a day Mon-Fri. Friday night through Sunday night is eh-whatever (I am in US Eastern Time, for reference). I'll try to post when I can over weekends, but I know people have lives and won't always be online, so no worries.

2 - If you don't post in the middle of an "action" scene for a day, you get skipped once (or botted if your action would be super obvious or you leave a note to me or another player "proxying" your character). If you don't post a second time, you get "botted" by me to do something simple (usually just attack or aid another). If we get into the 3-5 range, I'll probably drop you a line off-list to see what's up. If it goes on too long...well, I hate dropping people from games, but it unfortunately happens :(

3 - When you've got a saving throw to make, please roll that first before posting any other actions/rolls (unless it can occur before the save).

4 - Feel free to roll perception and sense motive whenever you want, and if you have a reroll, feel free to use that anytime as well.

5 - Have fun! Rule 5 trumps all other rules! :P

Heya all. Looks like we'll be playing 3 + a pregen (graciously being portrayed by Ivis).

I probably should have looked more carefully at the calendar when making my first post here. Rosh Hashonah starts at sundown tonight (Sept 6), so I'll post an introductory prompt in a few minutes, but other than that, expect game to begin in the evening of Tuesday, September 7th.

Thanks very much, and talk to you all soon!

Seleneth's profile is a work in progress.
I am missing a chronicle to be 5th level, but all the other paperwork says that he is. I am working to clarify.

If you need any help, just let me know. "VC powers activate" is something I can easily do to lend a hand! :)

Y'all my apologies for my tardiness. Been dealing with some health issues among other things that pulled my attention away. Trying to jump back in and do better now. :-(

I am doing 14 hour days for the next while. I will check the board every day, but my posts will be short & I may not be able to affect the maps.

I like the art for the trees, those are really cool :). I also like the options for strategy. I can make use of flat footed enemies so think I will opt for the Brown. I am flexible as far as placement so as not to trap any one else in the same area. I think I can sit higher up in the tree and shoot arrows down. Question for GM: what cover situation would that create? Are there other concerns? I need to be within thirty feet of allies to make use of liberating step, if folks prefer that option.

Given that Gen Con is about to start, my ability to post regularly is also about to be curtailed, so this is a great time for you all to hash this out.

Basically, you each get 1 tree and can choose what type/color to make it. If you "recover" (heal) your tree back to feather form then re-plant it, you can change its type/color at that time. You can each choose any of the four types/colors (i.e. you could do 4 of the same one, 1 of each, or any other combination).

Because the trees are 5-feet in diameter and 60-feet tall, they do provide cover. Sitting on top of one would let you have an amazing vantage point. I'm going to say, based on the art, that the foliage atop the tree is effective a 5-foot emanation, so nearby trees might affect your cover, but that's about it if you want to be sniping. Obvious at that height, liberating step won't be viable.

At the moment, I've colored the borders of each tree to match the border of your minis, so you can track which tree is yours on the map. I'll put a colored dot or something on the map once you declare the tree's actual type/color, too.

Hope all that helps!

Okay - one way or another we move on today. I'll have time to bot and make "the big war post" later on.

Once we get into the combats, things will move swiftly and regularly. Sorry for how slow things have started!

Okay, so...I know the errata for this only went up recently, so I'm not going to ding you for this if my assumption is correct...but I can only assume you chose Mesa as a divine ally animal? If so, that's not a viable option in PFS, unfortunately, but as I said, not gonna make you change your character mid-combat. Instead, I'm going to use what you've got here.

Young animal companions have ancestry HP plus 6+Con per level. You're level 5, birds have Con +1, and 4 ancestry HP, so (7x5)+4 = 39hp. Mesa also uses your level for calculating AC based on proficiency (trained), so AC = 10+Lvl(5)+T(2)+Dex(3) = 20.

No worries, I half expected table variation on it. I have used Mesa probably once before in combat. Sadly, the description of Ketephys lends more to a hawk than a horse. One of his heralds is a hawk and it is also a sacred animal (at least in PF1). On the plus side, if I had used divine ally on my bow, these archers would be immobile more often :)

How new is the errata/clarification and where can I find it?

Someone told me that it was "announced" a bit ago, but I only heard about this within the last few week and it didn't occur to connect the dots until that post. The easiest place I can link is here:

That is not your fault. I was more worried, I had been playing an illegal character. But I have not played Seleneth since before PaizoCon :)

I am not sure what option I will choose, but will figure it out before their next game.

Actually, in 2nd edition, it still helps you! :)

Prone wrote:

You're lying on the ground. You are flat-footed and take a –2 circumstance penalty to attack rolls. The only move actions you can use while you're prone are Crawl and Stand. Standing up ends the prone condition. You can Take Cover while prone to hunker down and gain greater cover against ranged attacks, even if you don't have an object to get behind, gaining a +4 circumstance bonus to AC against ranged attacks (but you remain flat-footed).

If you would be knocked prone while you're Climbing or Flying, you fall (see Falling for the rules on falling). You can't be knocked prone when Swimming.

Only if the prone character uses the "take cover" action on its turn, it gets a +4 to AC vs ranged attacks, but is still flat-footed (-2 to AC) for a net gain of +2. This was always an annoyance in PF1 that I'm very happy with how they handled it in PF2E! So even as an archer, trip away! :P

Seleneth, basically you can refocus during the same 20 minutes that it takes to help the local leaders ("double-dipping"), or when you take 10 minutes away by yourself to meditate using the refocus activity.
...

I got the double dip thank you. I just didn't know if 20 minutes of aid, counted as two 10 minute recoveries. My max focus point is 1 so unless I cast again mid-aid it is irrelevant. If I can cast mid-aid then I would have two other LoH meaning Seleneth can be at full health after the hour, Mesa at 36/39. Both are Wounded 1.

Seleneth's use of Glimpse of Redemption negates the need for the saves. It's harder to adjudicate in PbP, but it's probably my favorite of the three Champion reactions! :)
