Howdy GM! I decided to try and signal boost your game over at the Flaxseed Lodge to see if we can get you a couple more players. There might also be a few folks looking for new games now that the tables with 0-1 players signed up have been culled from the event listing.
*sidles back out*

GM Zin |

I saw that; thanks!

Hey GM! I saw LL’s signal boost and decided to hop in. I didn’t want to hog too many slots this Gameday, but wanted to be sure your game took off!

She would like to wait until the briefing to determine if something seems more necessary to purchase with 2PP, but if that isn't a viable option then she will get an oil of remove blindness for 2PP and an Oil of Align Weapon (Good) for 300g.

Hey, my only core is 10th, but if you do not get enough players, can a core Pregen (7) work? I don't want to take a real PC spot though. :)

GM Zin |

Yes, a pregen would definitely work.

I've added a slide deck link above; feel free to add your tokens to page 1 and 2, and add your info to the quick-roll spoilers on page 2. Thanks!

I need help with token posting since I’m a phone poster, but I’ll make sure to get my info filled out.

I'm a phone-only user as well, but can usually edit the slides. It's not giving me access to edit.

I also missed that part of the question.
Current Prestige 16

I just double-checked things, and everything is set up with editing enabled via that link. Can you please try again? It should work.

Trying to decide which Pregen to play. I am going to apply this to a new core character, so no Current Prestige.
Party Makeup?
Monk-6
Wizard-5
Cleric-6
Sorceress-5
Someone up front? Warrior-type?

I think that would make sense.

There should be quite a few melee-ish pc's to pick from, even from core.
Pally, fighter, barbarian, druid, monk, rogue.
We obviously have a monk, so that is probably not a great choice.
We do need the rogue skills, but in theory we could just break down doors and stuff. Kaya could prepare a 'knock' spell or buy a couple scrolls of it as well so rogue probably isn't a 'need'.
Druid companion has a melee pet plus all the fun druid spells. And you can prepare your own stuff instead of what comes with the pregen iirc. Pally is same way, but a lot fewer spells.
Fighter/Barbarian are always good choices.
Or take something else, it's all good! I am personally just happy to have a full or mostly full group.

Sally the Pally!
Or any of the melee types.

If it comes to it Gwen has a roommate in the Grand Lodge who is a fightier character for this fightier game. ;)
Basically they just have to swap Gameday X adventures.

Kaya, Pau is old and grumpy and has had some exasperating, to him, adventures with some of the wee folk. So he’s worried you are going to make him crazy, lol. Please don’t take him initial disdain too seriously.

As an underground fighting competition, that sounds more fighter or barbarian than paladin. So probably Valeros the fighter. Poor Harsk…I’d take him if his build wasn’t such a train wreck.

I don't know underground fighting competitions seem to be mostly martial arts, so maybe monks are better after all, and Pau seems old enough to be a Grand Master of Flour or whatever they're called.

Lol, there’s only one of those in the world right?! I bet the Grandmaster of Flour makes great biscuits!

![]() |

I am sure the Grand Master will be right at home in this adventure.
I am happy to change to another pregen. Also, since this is a 7th, I didn't want it to be overshadowing the real PC's. I just did not think bringing a 4th level would be viable, but let me know.
Are there any 5th or 6th level pre-gens available to core? I was not aware of any.

![]() |

I am pretty sure they go 1, 4, 7, and because the way tiers work you have to be in-tier (or 7 in this case) to play. Though if you are concerned about overshadowing you could always play as a short 7th level 'train wreck'. ;)
Hey Apollyanna! So which one of us is playing in this adventure anyway?

Hi everyone! I'm back from my trip and ready to go. This opening section isn't too pressing; we just need to get you to the Devil's Dregs before Sept 9, and that shouldn't be too hard, but I wanted to take a moment to point out that much of this scenario will be pressing. The other tables will be actively working towards successes in the same (or similar) situations as we are, and the quicker we collectively accumulate successes, the better for all. With that said, I want to offer a couple of suggestions:
1) When in doubt, act! Be pro-active whenever possible, even if things seem daunting. Indecision kills (or rather, fails) in this kind of event.
2) When in doubt, consider posting both actions! What I mean by that is that if you're asking me a question for clarification on a situation, or if your action might be different depending on the results of a die roll or another PC's action, post both alternatives. This is one of the most effective tools in the PbP arsenal for keeping the pace up in this environment. For example:
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
If Leia seemed excited by Han's casual brush-off "I know," then I, Luke, toss my blond locks in a huff and walk away with a broken heart, because there's no way she could be my sister, and I love her.
If Leia seemed annoyed by Han's casual brush-off "I know," then I, Luke, avert my gaze and smile to myself, then throw an arm over her shoulder to comfort her as I make my move, because there's no way she's my sister and this is going to be awesome!
An additional piece of advice for this table in particular table: we are CORE, and that means that most of you have probably already played this scenario; maybe, maybe not, but it's often true at CORE tables. If that's the case, don't go out of your way to meta-game, but don't stress the whole "no spoilers" thing too much. We don't want our table to get bogged down because half of the players won't contribute to a decision because of fore-knowledge. Go ahead and offer your opinion, or take your action, and help us keep moving towards our goal. I've been at a CORE table where nobody would offer an opinion on what to do next and we discovered later it was because EVERYONE had played it before and was trying too hard not to metagame. Let's not be that table!
Thanks everyone! I'm excited to run this table of this special, now let's go out there and have some fun!

GM Zin |

There are 5. There are actually only 4 signups on the spreadsheet, so it looks like we have a stowaway! And that stowaway appears to be you, Viridian! :)
Can you go ahead and fill out your info on the Gameday spreadsheet so we've got all the i's dotted and t's crossed? Thanks!

Quick question: Are the Red Mantis thugs being threatened by any of the other patrons?
Since it does seem like a "free for all" the other patrons could be ignoring them or also threatening them with flying bottles, swinging fists, grabby hands, etc...

GM Zin |

No, not in a mechanical sense. The room is chaos, but the crowd does not provide a flanking foil. You can also move into any square with a crowd icon in it; they're just there for flavor. You can move the icon into your empty space yourself to reflect the crowd moving around as you move, or I'll do it when I process your actions.

![]() |

Okay cool. Thank you!

![]() |

Since this is a multi-table interactive, shouldn't we try to get through these combats/sections quicker? We get awarded with bonuses for the next act if we complete them before the other tables, right?

Yes, keeping the pace up is always helpful. We have a little more than a day to wrap this encounter up; it would be a very good idea to think about exiting the inn at this point!
We started out slow, mostly due to my absence this past weekend. I noticed one night too that I could have advanced the action had I made an evening post (most of my activity is normally in the mornings). As a result, I'm now committed to making sure to check things in the evenings as well to make sure I'm keeping the pace up on my end.
I'm not a huge fan of botting, though, especially before 24 hours without a player announcement, so there's some give and take. I'll definitely do everything I can to keep the pace moving, so let's get those player posts in!
FYI, success tracking doesn't really start in earnest until later in the scenario, but even without that, the curtain between scenes falls down hard even if we're not done with an encounter--it's a much better experience to finish encounters cleanly as opposed to being railroaded forward.

![]() |

Cool. I'm able to post a few times/day. Even more on weekends, usually.

![]() |

Don't attack the Gorumite Clerics!
I'll cast calm emotions on them so we can slip out the door.

![]() |

It was quite munchkin-y. I'll get my retcon in later today.

![]() |

I would like to point out that Freedom of Movement would bypass a mob's ability to impede movement. If one can swim underwater with no impediment, then one can "swim" through a crowd. I will bring this up & discuss this with the overseer GM.
