The two goblins around Basil quickly stab at him with their short swords while another fires an arrow at Lysithia. Two goblins fire at Jade and the final one targets Kelda.

Lysithia smashes her foe thoroughly, ending its life. The two hobgoblins move toward Kelda, hoping to neutralize the tougher threat.

H1 vs Kelda (charge): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 2 = 13
H2 vs Kelda: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

However, the dwarf's protections prove to be difficult to overcome.

Grunting in pain as both goblins manage to hit her, Jade fires back at one of her assailants.

Sapphira takes a deep breath and reloads her crossbow, before firing at the hobgoblin directly in front of Kelda.

Please let me hit this: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

We're all gonna die.

Sapphira curses loudly as her shot goes wide, completely missing her target.

Female Dwarf WarPriestess/3 HP 18/27; Init: +1; AC: 18, T: 12, FF: 16; Fort: +5, Ref: +2, Will: +6 (+2 vs poison, spells and spell-like abilities); Perception: +6 (+8 vs unusual stonework)

Kelda swings her hammer at the enemy in front of her.

Smack You!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Pretty much, unless these dice stop sucking.

In pain from her multiple wounds, Kelda's swing misses her opponent completely. Taking a deep breath, she tries to keep the colorful language to a minimum as she becomes frustrated at their situation.

Jade's arrow comes within a hair's breadth of her target but whizzes along harmlessly. Sapphira and Kelda are equally luckless in their attempts.

Round 3: Basil, Goblins, Lysithia, Hobgoblins, Jade, Sapphira, Kelda

Basil smashes the goblins face in and it crumples to the floor. The goblin next to him stabs at the brawler again. The remaining three fire at Jade and Lysithia.

G3 vs Basil: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

It's just so frustrating cuz the dice are being so crappy. I'm starting to feel like we're cursed or something. The dice have just not been in our favor this entire time it seems. With only one or two of us actually hitting the little beasties, we won't be able to thin them out fast enough. At this point, it's gonna take a miracle to pull us out of this.

Seeing the hobgoblin she'd originally focused on land a vicious hit on Kelda, and realizing they were only moments away from advancing to take down her sister, Jade resolutely puts an arrow into the back of her target's neck.

Hurting badly from the last Attack, Kelda knows she can't afford to be reckless. Slapping her fist to her chest, she screams defiantly in the face of the remaining hobgoblin, before healing herself a little bit.

Fervor: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Having only managed the slightest bit of healing, Kelda concentrates on swinging her hammer against the enemy, but the pain from her many wounds cause her to miss horribly. It would be almost comical, if the situation wasn't so dire.

Jade and Sapphira wear down the hobgoblins, forcing the goblins to change focus. One heads to support the remaining hobgoblin, two fire upon Jade and the last continues its fight with Basil.

Seeing Kelda attacked so viscously, undoes something in Sapphira. Maybe it was the memories it brought back of the attack on their own village, maybe it was seeing someone just have the snot kicked out of them....but whatever it is, makes her shot go wide as she shakes with rage. Sapphira curses loudly as she watches the blood pour forth from Kelda's many wounds.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Kelda places her hand on her chest again as she uses some more of her energy to repair some of the damage caused by her assailants. They were barely making it through this fight by the skin of their teeth, but she wasn't about to just give up.

Fervor: 1d6 ⇒ 5

She then brings her hammer around for another swing at the remaining hobgoblin, and yells in frustration as her hammer misses yet again.

Male Human Brawler 3; HP: 30/30; AC 14 T 13 FF 11; Fort +5 Ref +5 Will +0; Init +2; Perception +4

Basil shifts his body weight and throws a left hook at the goblin in front of him.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 10

The goblins continue to fire at Jade, the most significant threat, while the third continues to swipe its blade against Basil.

Noticing the others had dealt with the rest of the threat, Basil mutters a prayer under his breath as he swings at the goblin.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 12

Seeing only a single goblin left, Lysithia turns her attention to Kelda's condition. "Take moment to breathe love!" she says, moving over to where she stands over the goblin she just put down.

Kelda's chest heaves up and down with the e exertion of her heavy breathing, after a difficult battle. Still feeling frustrated and in pain from the many wounds she received, Kelda shakes her head, "I don't understand why I was having such a hard time dealing with these bastards. The General and his wolf weren't this difficult. I turned them to paste in no time. I knew it was risky since there were a few more of them than us, but I couldn't risk them going to Cooperton and causing more destruction....I just couldn't. Not after everything that's already happened. Are you hurt badly?" She asks, her tone softening as she looks over her love for signs of injury, forgetting for the moment her many wounds.

Kelda looks down at herself, "Yeah, I suppose so. They sure were some tough little bastards. I didn't want them getting through me to Sapphira though, so I had to present as the bigger threat. I know it was close a couple of time, but we all made it through, and that's what's most important." She says, before giving her love a hug and a kiss.

F Human Sorceress 3; HP: 14/18; AC: 12, FF: 10, T: 12; Init: +2; Fort: +1, Ref: +3, Will: +4 Perception +4

Giving Jade one of her trademark smirks, she shrugs, "Eh, I'm fine. You know me, I stay out of the way. Besides, Ms. Kelda put herself between them and me, and she took most of their attacks. Looked real close there for a minute, but she was tough and stayed up. I do have a healing potion on me if someone needs it. How are you doing there Mr. Basil? Do you need some healing?"

Male Human Brawler 3; HP: 30/30; AC 14 T 13 FF 11; Fort +5 Ref +5 Will +0; Init +2; Perception +4

She shakes her head while taking a potion of cure light wounds out of her backpack and hands it to Basil, "The day just started, we can't take time to rest again. It was a difficult fight for all of us, so we'll just have to be careful and not rush into anymore major fights. I agree they had to be dealt with though, there was no way we were gonna let them just walk by us and into Cooperton to create more trouble. I'm with Jade, we need to search their bodies and make sure they don't have anything useful, or like plans that they might have had on them. I'm sorry the potion isn't stronger, it's all I had time to grab before leaving home, hopefully it helps a little though." She says while holding out the bottle of potion to him.

The hobgoblins only have their equipment (studded leather armor, light steel shield, longsword, longbow with some arrows) and a couple days of rations. The group finds that the goblins' equipment is unusable and what they have to eat would turn even the sternest of stomachs.

Probably toss them. There's probably a whole industry of people who go around collecting discarded potion bottles like soda cans, and selling them back to potion makers
