The party awakens in a strange manor, plucked from their homeworld and imprisoned within. To escape, the heroes must negotiate a path through the insane Amber family home, overcoming the clan's machinations, dangerous servants, cunning traps, and bizarre phenomena. Only by finding a way to break the curse of Stephen Amber will the party be able to return home. Failure means a lifetime of imprisonment in Castle Amber, a place where lifetimes can be very short indeed...

Aletta gets the sense that this entire castle is one big trap. She does not wait around for the wall safe to be triggered, because what good is treasure if you're dead. She extricates herself from the room and proceeds to the next door down the hall.

Karhu obliges by liberally casting Frostbite on the lock and into the holes of the safe until it is as brittle and cold as he can make it. “Okay, that’s the best I can do. I am not sure if it is enough, but if we are going to try and break into it, now is the time,” he says, standing back and assessing the safe.

Unable to offer any better advice or skill than Brian in regards to the trapped safe, Savas follows Aletta out into the hall.

Brin works for a moment and there is a sharp click as the lock gives. Opening the safe, you find a cache of 5,000 gp.

Down the hall, Aletta moves to the next door and opens it. This room is a large kitchen with space and supplies capable of cooking large feasts. A dozen monstrous figures, man-sized with broad noses, cat-like eyes, and pointed ears, bustle about the room. Each is dressed in pale amber-colored livery and is in the process of preparing a lavish meal. Both the servants
and the food they are preparing are transparent.
