Harlan instantly sees that the computer system interface is shutdown. It doesn't take him long to discover a sequence of commands that begins to activate the computer station, but the system quickly shuts down again. He suspects that system activation requires identical input from all four consoles simultaneously.

Harlan's cleared the computer check. All you need now is for the four of you to try it in harmony from the different consoles. The three assistants need a perception check of 15 to succeed.

Janosian's been quiet for a while in our other game, as well. If it's okay, GM Thom, I'll take the liberty of botting Faelyn so Harlan can save the spell.

With a flap of his wings, Nym takes to the air and glides effortlessly over to the final console.

Thanks, SuperS. I hate to bot. I have confidence Janosian will be back, so we'll keep Faelyn around.

The party flies to the various platforms and coordinates starting the system. Clicks and mechanical hisses sound. Then the entire chamber fills with a hologram; tiny motes of white light form globular clusters and a huge spiral pinwheel ribboned with dark shadows. Tiny dark purple lights are scattered through the white.

Harlan gets a glimpse of another but doesn't quite have time to duck before a sonic pulse strikes him. 14 Sonic damage.

Zephyr's first bolt is well wide of the mark. His second although much closer the mark, is blocked by the computer console. The console will provides cover.

Nice description, SuperS. That's a wrap on this combat. The computer consoles lie open for your inspection. Since you'daleady passed the checks...

The party returns to their stations to investigate its function. From the holograms appearance you might have guessed it was a map or navigational aid, but it is considerably more than that. Through a black box combination of magic and technology, the hologram displays the realtime positions of the entire jinsul fleet.

I can't remember if there's more than that right now. If you want to move on, we can retcon any additional discoveries. Or you may want to try something else here.

This game's not for credit, so we can do what we want. The virus idea is great, but I can think of two in-gmae reasons not to do it. 1. You're on the clock. 2. If yhour mission is successful, this nav system will ever start again. But the choice is yours.

I'll go for just gleaning the data then. Presumably its tougher to take over the system / develop an advanced enough back door, rather than just doing some copying.

It's a galaxy worth of data, but the jinsul system is efficient. Harlan soon has the jinsul ship locations recorded.

That's one of your victory conditions. I'm going to assume you resume your railroad trip to the power core.

Historia and Radaszam continue their conversation while you trudge on. "Radaszam, I need a third hand. Hold this while I make this connection. -- Good."
.
"So how is it going with you, Historia?"
.
She pauses before answering. "Things are all right. Sometimes even good. I've been spending time with Zivigix. He quite supportive, even fun to be around. I'm even getting used to Strawberry Machine Cake."
Ziggy, (I may have mispelled his name.) is a shirren Venture Captain in charge of the ExoGuardians. Strawberry Machine Cake is his favorite band.
.
Radaszam hisses. "There's an open channel to the agents. You might think carefully about sharing information about personal relationships."
.
"They seem mature enough to hold what I say in confidence, besides, it's not as if I'll be describing biological impossibilities."

Don't have access to the scenario just now. The next 7 or 8 days will be difficult for posting.

No worries! We'll wait for the continuation.

Over comms to the leaders he grunts "Hope yer lookin' forward to a big pile 'a dirt on our new friends." He finds whatever Historia is going through to be simultaneously out of his zone of interest and probably not a good idea to pick at, so he keeps his mouth shut. Listening to some pop music to feel better seems like a worthless strategy, especially when there's some perfectly nice Jinsuls to destroy if you need to vent. He shrugs, then turns to join the others as the group continues deeper into the complex.

More walking puts you in an unusual position, between doors on either side of the corridor. To your right is a double door; to your left, a single.

The Venture-Captains continue their discussion.

Zephyr listens to both doors. Unless he hears something intriguing, he agrees with the door to the right.

From the double doors to the right, Zephyr hears nothing. From the single door to the left, it is also silence until he hears a single sludgy sploosh. Silence follows immediately.

Oh, I forgot -- if it changes your mind ... A placard in jinsul has been temporarily affixed with adhesive tape to the double doors.

I won't rewrite my lost post after all, given how far the action has moved on. If appropriate, though, Locket would have taken a 10 min rest while his more technologically inclined crewmates felt woth the data retrieval from the map.

"One's as good as the other," Locket says with a shrug.

He stares blankly at the placard, unable to read the label. His ears twitch as Zephyr relays his findings.

"It's wise to not leave a potential enemy behind us. And there's no need to rush in blindly. Let's try and get a peek at what's inside and make a plan."

Crossing carefully to the door, Locket attempts to quietly crack the door and look inside.

Locket can take 10 back in the chart room. 'Crossing carefully' leads me to think the single door to the south, but Locket's icon is still next to the double door. Which one do you want to peek into?
