Just for fun, a run through the SFS Season 1 story arc.

Splinter group from SFS Season 1 recruitment that wants to play just for fun.

Let's see how the party shapes up over here.

Z-4 is here for your viewing enjoyment--at least the current attempt at his incarnation.

For an abbreviated backstory, I see him as a pilot from Alluvion who will fly anything, anywhere, for the joy of traversing the drift. Once we have our starting scenario, I can tailor the backstory a bit better.

Here for the fun!

I could do this.

I have a single SFS character (Operative/Spy/Icon (actor) - no piloting or Engineering)) who has played a couple of the Season 1 mods.

I would be willing to work with the group to define the character instead of having people jockey for specific roles.

If we're going to do this "just for fun", we could even break the 6 man table thing and not have to have people swap seats in ship combat?

Checking in...here for the fun of it all!

I'll maintain the two character concepts I proposed previously:
1) Dwarf Bounty Hunter Mechanic (with a combat drone)
-- or --
2) Half-Elf Scholar Technomancer

If others show up and really want to occupy either of those roles, I'm willing to shift and play something different, though. I'm more of a "round out the party with the best fit" kind of guy anyway.

Checking in for the fun only part!

I’ll use the same concept over here, Shirren Solarian.

Should I post here and in the SFS cred one, just because I'm kinda desperate for more Starfinder?

Let's see who's here:

Brother_Guiness ... Z-4 Soldier

hustonj ........... Operative/Spy/Icon (actor)

Therenger ........ Never Steelheart, vanguard

Neil Spicer ...... Dwarf Bounty Hunter Mechanic (with a combat drone)
-- or -- Half-Elf Scholar Technomancer

JackHaus ........ shirren solarian

APZ, you definitely get at least one seat. Let's see how many are over there in the other thread. If there's room and you can keep things separate, I guess you could play both, but if there are more than 7 over there, I will ask you to choose..

Guys, I was thinking for this game that we could start directly with The First Mandate at level 2. Standard SFS ability scores. I won't be able to start the game proper until Monday at the earliest.

Desparate to get some sleep. I'll talk to you in the morning.

I'm 1000% for this. Will level up and finish Never this week.

Oh! Oh! Do you have room for one more???

I've got this SUPER exciting Operative that I love to play:

Allison is a spunky firecracker that's never really comfortable unless she's got some hot metal either under her stick or in her hand. Her caustic wit is omnipresent, largely due to her constant desire to make whatever she's doing somehow seem MORE EXCITING!!1!
Hence, she gets bored easily, and while she's as comfortable talking her way out of a situation as blasting through it, she may need convincing to do it the boring way. =)

She's good at Computers, Engineering, and Piloting. (And stealthing...and, for some reason, physical science.)

I could change the focus if there's already a bunch of Computer guys, but, my philosophy about SF is that you always need at least TWO guys good at Computers because it comes up so much.

Any specific character rules for starting at level 2? What is our starting cash?

Also, I have built Z-4 as a more ranged combatant, at least at first, but if we are in need of melee support instead, I can go that route (or just balance it a bit more between the two).

2000 credits is standard for level 2 starting character. We would benefit from one character that can use a sniper rifle. My Vanguard plans on being in the mix up front, side by side with the solarian, I expect. With the extra cash I am totally getting a Wyrmling dragon gland.

2000 sounds good.

Atlas, come on in. I can make seven work here.

If we go with this collection of heroes, we seem to be severely lacking in the applied healing/support role. So, I could probably turn my half-elf technomancer into a mystic with a multiclass dip into envoy to round things out.

There is tech and magic for that too, Neil. You know my advice is always play what you want. Although the tech and magic isn't as good as a PC.

+sniper rifle {Shobhad horizon striker, tactical} it is then!

Oooo! I get to break out this song.

Oh wow, level 2 right on!

So my Shirren, I’m thinking its theme is Priest. Specifically Ibran because that seems to line up nicely with Solarian but does anyone have any advice on the Priest aspect of it?

Should I just straight up rip off duelism?

I said that was my existing SFS character (the operative/spy/icon) but I'm willing to build whatever the group needs for this series.

New alias for Zephyr...Hopefully we will start soon!

Operative
Solarion
Soldier
Technomancer (to Mystic instead?)
Vanguard

And me. So, I think I'm missing one?

But, yeah, based on what I see, I should build either an Envoy or a Mystic.

What about ship roles? The Operative is clearly gunning for pilot. Sensors? Engineering? Captain? Soldiers are usually the best gunners.

It is really easy to build an Envoy that does well in the captain role, but I don't need the seat . . ..

Contributor, RPG Superstar 2009, RPG Superstar Judgernaut

I've been looking back thru the rules for Envoys and Mystics and I think I may go for a multiclass that hits both roles for us. So, I'd forego the Technomancer (and Mechanic) options. You could tackle either of those, and I'll take the captain's chair, if you like? Or, if you're sold on doing an Envoy or Mystic, I could just do multiclass Technomancer/Mechanic, instead. Let me know which you prefer and I'll go the other direction.

Run whichever you think will be more fun. I'll find a way to enjoy filling the void. Seriously.

Zephyr is built as a pilot, with a +13 modifier as currently constructed. He also has decent gunnery skills if it comes to that, but I am not sure how to get much more than BAB + Dex on gunnery.

IIRC, you can replace BAB with Piloting ranks for gunnery to-hits.

But a pilot who wins init often is more important than the gunner bonuses. The Soldier and Solarion and Vanguard should all be able to cover Gunnery needs very well, I think.

Contributor, RPG Superstar 2009, RPG Superstar Judgernaut

Alright, I'm putting together a multiclass Half-Elf Envoy/Mystic with a Xenoarchaeologist theme and the Healer connection. Basically, the ultimate support character and jack-of-all-trades.

Okay, so that's:

Envoy/Mystic
Operative
Solarion
Soldier
Vanguard
and me . . ..

I THOUGHT I saw that we were supposed to be 7, though, which means I'm still missing one.

Who (other than the Piloting Operative) has good Computer and/or Engineering?

Best Ship crew optimization will have 1 lead character for each of those 3. Add the Captain, and that's 4 slots. Gunners are based more on the ship . . .. 1 running a turret and the other doing normal arc weapons would take us to 6.

If we are 7, it would be really cool if 2 of the 3 not hard-slotted into a bridge role could back up the Computer or Engineering spot. Each could do 1 of the two, I mean. Maximizes versatility. There are times you may want an Engineer increasing shield power and a second engineer redistributing shield points, for example.

Yes, I'm rambling beyond the core question of who do we have (or not have) to fill the ship combat non-gunnery roles. Basically, just thinking out loud.

Maybe I'll build a Mechanic?

Is there still a space to be had?
I'm looking to play some Starfinder for quite some time now^^

I would have
-Operative
-Envoy
-Mystic
-Soldier/Technomancer
to bring to the table.

Psssssh. Imma not beating that Piloting, so I'll just change my theme to Cyberborn and be done with it.

(Oh, um, here's Atlas' Operative. Still got a couple tweaks left.)

Hayato Ken, these games are not for SFS credit, just for fun. If you're still interested see the next hurdle.

Archpaladin Zousha was going to choose between this or the other thread if they got crowded, but he's gone dark. I think Ken forces a decision if he is still interested. I will PM him and ask for his choice. Ken, you'd be welcome at either table, but APZ has right of first refusal if you will.

I will PM him to see which table he wants to play. Credit or not?

My yet un named Solarian could pick up either Computers or Engineering if need be. A wandering weirdo would likely need all sorts of skills anyways right?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I'm fine without credit and happy with a chance to play some Starfinder.

Should it be too crowded, that's fine!
You can always hit me up late if you want, no need to force anything from my side.

Zephyr is built to start out at range, but have staying power if attacked in melee. At fifth level or soon thereafter, he will get some powered armor and be more effective at close range combat if needed.

I TOTALLY missed that Zephyr is a Soldier and not the Operative.

Cool. Not used to seeing Soldier Pilots. I like it!

If I do a Mechanic as suggested above, then the Operative and Mechanic will probably be the primaries for Sensors and Engineering (whichever order).

Lets the Vanguard, Solarion, and 7th just touch on playing back-up/support in one role or the other, in case.

Should work nicely!

I'll build my character over the weekend.

Thanks!

I decided that Zephyr would think of anything he can fit in and pilot as an extension of his android body, from the largest starship to the most stripped-down powered armor. Mechanically, he is a high-dex build who will hopefully get powered armor (and use its powered armor strength stat) at or around level 5...

Bought The First Mandate. I'll need a couple days to go through it before running. Looking good for a start Monday or Tuesday next week, but I'll give you a more definite schedule in a day or so.

Polish up those characters. Looks like the team is coming together.

BTW, thinking about an augmented dwarf mechanic with an exocortex. I figure his first augmentation will be a datajack.

Liberty's Edge

Y'know, I never actually looked at any of the races other than human.

I think Imma go outside my comfort zone and do Android. (Well, Gynoid, as it seems.)

Another Android! Awesome! Welcome to the Collective. Resistance is Futile.

Gameplay thread is available for dotting.

Hayato Ken, I heard back from APZ. He's going with the credit thread. You're in here! Congratulations. I'm very happy to have you aboard.

That's going to close recruitment.

We'll continue character development in the discussion thread.

Oh wow cool!
What character should i bring in?
Anything really missing?

Need a new player for a run through the Star Finder Society season 1 story arc. The idea is to maintain story continuity with a single party of PCs throughout the arc.

The four current characters have just completed the second mission. They will be starting the third mission at 5th level with 12500 credits. To keep things easy for me, standard SFS character creation rules apply.

This is just for fun; it is not for SFS credit.

What day of the week and time? I would want to play a ysoki exocortex mechanic. I have all the books but would use what limited to if need be if the time slot is something can pull off.

I forgot to say it's play by post

I never done it play by post but with kids and work it maybe easier that way. I never get to play starfinder only run it so I'm still down for it if can help enlighten me on how exactly game works and expectations. I can have my character made ton. Just need know limitations of what can use I think.

Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I have a character 99% made up. If able to join game I can send pictures of what I have.

Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

So if approved to join game I would have Sparky, an ysoki exocortex mechanic xenoarcheaolgist that focuses on his skills over combat. Preferring to set traps and explosives than getting into firefight. But able to step up if the situation arises. Has a load of gear aimed at always being prepared for any situation. Able to sneak around and infiltrate when needed, using his honed skills to break into places and hack whatever is needed to complete his mission. Has unlocked some magical abilities just recently to make him more versatile as well as able to use supercharge weapon to balance out his weak combat abilities.

I have the character fully completed and able to start asap if willing to have me.
