GM Mauve |

Anyone can still do the Religion check mentioned above.
Dragh takes coins 1 through 6 and seperates them into two piles: coins 1, 2, and 3; and coins 4, 5, and 6. He places the first pile into the right hand then the second pile in the left hand. Neither hands raise. Dragh surmises this means the fake coin must be one of: coins 7, 8 , or 9.
So he places coin 7 in the right hand and coin 8 in the left hand. The right hand raises up.
The voice booms out, "Which coin is fake?"

Ursk Wildingot |

Religion: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
"Abadar eh? I guess anyone could have guessed that, he does love his coins. Seems like Dragh figured out it was that eighth coin that's fake."

Dragh Goldenoak |

"Eighth coin was raised so it has greater value. The seventh coin is fake!" says Dragh quickly hoping that they will not be smited by Abadar.
It raised a hand for the coin with greater value ;)

Dragh Goldenoak |

Damn, those puzzles. yeah, eight is the fake one, I misread it. My school teacher always was telling me: reading with understanding is the most powerful skill that you may possess.

GM Mauve |

As Ursk calls out the eighth coin is fake, Abadar calls out. "Congratulations. You have won my blessing.". With that, all the coins fall to the floor. Each coin falls to the ground. The real coins are all worth 1 gp each while the fake coin turns to lead and is worthless.
Also, the dwarves hear a *pop* as the door to the northeast swings open, revealing a small chamber. Peering into the room, the group sees an old wooden chest emblazoned with the symbol of a key. Behind the chest is a massive contraption of gears and pulleys that looks like the inner workings of some unseen device.
You can go in to this room. Or ignore it and continue going north.

GM Mauve |

Though the room is dark when the group first enters, they can see tiny shafts of light coming from the wall on the north side. Tiny holes in the wall allow you to peek into the room to the north.
Then Horst walks up to the chest and it pops open. Inside is a pile of coins, a rolled-up piece of parchment, and a small glass box containing a single emerald. The coins consist of 214 cp, 22 sp, and 3 gp. The parchment is a scroll of magic missile. The emerald can be sold for 20 gp.

Dragh Goldenoak |

Dragh looks at the items and grabs the scroll. "I can use this..."
Then he looks at the lever...
Crafting: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
He touches it and looks at the ground then again at the chest
"How much gold is there?" says the wizard clearly losing interest in the lever.

Horst Broadrim |

Crafting: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Horst also looks at the lever for a moment, but can make nothing of it and moves to look through the holes in the wall and see if he can overhear anything else.

Horst Broadrim |

Horst is tempted.
"Let's do it. Get ready to storm the kobolds in the big room, pull the lever and go. I'll bet it does something in there and they know nothing about or they already would have looted this room."

GM Mauve |

Durnik flips the switch, completely unsure what it does. Nothing seems to happen when he does.
Ursk leads, opening the door to the large room first. The door opens with a loud *creak*, revealing a massive chamber that looks like an audience hall. On the far side, a broad set of stairs leads up to where a throne might once have been. Pillars support the high ceiling, and the ruined tatters of once decorative banners still hang from them. A decorative pattern centered in the middle of the room shows through the grim coating the floor.
And there are three kobolds in the room! Two look exactly like the ones you fought earlier, but with different scales. However, one is slightly larger and carries three large snares on her side.
Durnik, perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

The two kobolds, who were standing in the middle of the room call out, "Intruders!". But instead of coming up to fight, they retreat to the set of stairs in the back, holding their spears aloft.

Durnik: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Horst: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 = 23
Both Durnik and Horst spot something amiss with the room... a trap! Anyone stepping in the middle section (the yellow dashed line) sets off the trap. Spears shoot out of the western wall and hits the westernmost creature in the area.
Horst, you would've seen the trap before you moved across. Do you want to change your action?
"Peaceful? Pah!" The purple kobold spits. "You surface dwellers are the ones who encroach on our territory, kill us for no reason. We have to do what we do to survive!"
The purple kobold takes one of her snares off of her side, opens it up, and tosses it next to her. (purple circle)

"Surface dwellers? How dare he!" says clearly annoyed Dragh who smacks the spell in the pillar in front of him

Ursk Wildingot |

Ursk moves forward shaking his head at the surface dweller comment as well. He pulls up his shield and gets ready to fight.
2 Strides and Raise Shield.

GM Mauve |

Dragh aims at the kobolds, but his aim is off. Instead, he coats the pillar in front of him with a fine layer of frost.
Ursk moves in, raising his shield.
The two kobolds see their chance. Both move in and both attack the dwarves.

GM Mauve |

Both Durnik and Horst obliterate the two kobolds standing before them. Horst climbs up the ledge and stands menacingly in front of the purple kobold.
The kobold snarls then lays down another snare in front of her.

Dragh moves slightly closer as he shoots a beam of ice cold energy towards the kobold. Direct hit! She shivers as she's hit.
Ursk also moves closer, attempting to hit the kobold before she can lay down her last trap. But no luck, his attack goes wide.
The kobold hisses at Ursk. "Begone fools. You don't know what you've gotten yourselves into.". She takes the last snare off her belt and tosses it behind her.

Horst circles around the purple kobold to line up a better attack. He lines it up and... the sword bounces off of her purplish scales.

Alright. Guess it's my turn to try.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

He's off balance on the far side though and only slashes threatening, without coming close.

GM Mauve |

Horst easily jumps over the kobold and lands on the other side of her. He attempts to stab, but is off-balanced by the stairs.
Seeing no other option, the kobold stabs Horst, hoping to make a clearer getaway.

GM Mauve |

And the kobold is dead! Combat is over.
Searching the bodies of the kobolds, you find each has some dried fish, leather armor, and three spears. But the tougher purple kobold also has a shortsword, three spike traps (which she set out), and a strange eggshell necklace.
The necklace is a simple copper chain with a cracked piece of a large eggshell. The shell is ivory in color but has strange green veins running through it. It's only about 3 inches across, but the egg it came from must have been at least 2 feet wide.
Now you have to decide what to do. Do you continue down the stairs right away? Head back and update Tamily Tanderveil? Go into Otari and sell everything you found and buy new things?
