whoa, passover. i havent celebrated that in over 30 years. used to celebrate it when i was in catholic school, and then they stopped doing it. dont know why. Hadnt thought about it again until today. huh.

im giving you guys the opportunity to introduce yourselves properly to each other, as the last 8 times you met up were kind of a hodge podge of interactions and everyone was just annoyed. whereas now, you have the feeling that well, i guess ill just accept this and have fun with it. kind of feeling.
also, feel free to better flesh out what happened these last two weeks. what your character is doing in Solanthus, what your next step was in your travel plans (if you had travel plans), etc.

while the glue is drying on my leather sheath, i thought id take a moment to explain things, namely combat, posting rate, and so on.
posting rate: monday through friday is the expected posting days. at least one post a day. I know that everyone has a life outside of pbp rpgs, so if you miss one or two days without a post, its not the end of the world. But this is the goal that i like to set for the group and try to hold to myself. Saturdays and sundays i dont expect anyone to post. I myself may post something, i may not. it depends on what is happening with me and my schedule. if there is something super critical that i see that i need to respond to, yes, ill make every effort to make a posting. But for you, the player, please dont feel pressured that you have to make a posting on the weekend.
***if you are going on vacation, or in some way unable to make a posting for an extended period of time, just say so here in the discussion board. even a simple hey, im going to be gone from tuesday til the following thursday works. I, or another player (usually i ask another player to run the character, or at the very least, roll the dice), will run your PC and make an attempt to not allow that PC to die.
RPG intensity rating: Think of this game like a movie, and think of the movie ratings system. PG, PG13, R. I use this as a guideline to help me write the story, to showcase what your comfortable with playiing in. For the most part, the average rpg game is at like a PG13. However, if you guys want rated R, games of thrones styling, im ok with that as well. But this has to be agreed to as a whole.
Combat posting: in the recruitment thread, i specifically pointed out to everyone not to take any feats or traits that alter initiative. the reason for this is due to the way i run combat on a pbp platform. We all know how initiative works, roll a die, and we go in order of the total initiative dice value. But on pbp, this makes combat take a long time as people who have normal lives have limited time to post.
here's how combat works for my games:
The combat round starts at 1200 Central standard time. that is the time zone i live in. that is also the time i have lunch monday through fridays (funny how that works :) the combat round lasts until 1159 CST the next day. that means that you have just about 24 hours to post your combat action. Initiative is just handled by whenver you post for that day. There is no set order, aside from when i post for NPC actions.
for example: Zak, Aeleni, and Fuma are taking on an Ogre. i will have made a prompt stating something like this is the start of combat. Zak, being that super eager minotaur, charges forward and attacks the Ogre with his morningstar. Fuma, hoping on in the middle of the day during a work break, sees Zaks action, and has her paladin charge forward as well, swinging with her scimitar. Aeleni, coming on later at night, sees what Zak and Fuma have done, and
not wanting to engage the Ogre in combat, draws her bow and fires it at the large monster. 1200CST occurs the following day, and I hop online. I see what has happened, i write up a short summary, and i have my ogre respond in kind, swinging its massive longsword at Fuma. i will then say this is the start of round 2 or something like that, and the 2nd round starts. This time however, Aeleni is online first, and posts saying shes firing another shot at the ogre. Fuma is online next and posts her action, and Zak is a bit behind the 8ball for the day, and can only hop online at night. He submits his actions for combat. 1200CST the next day, i hop online, make the summary, ogre acts, and then a new round starts. repeat until threat is neutralized
majority of the time, i will go last. The only time that i will nominally go first is if the NPC is initiating the attack.
Special note from the DM: there is a decent chance that your Characters will die. I am not saying this as a muwhahahaha im gonna kill your characters! but it is a fair warning that i dont hold back monsters. when a monster attacks, it attacks. I dont fudge dice rolls to keep players alive. If the dice roll that way, then so be it.
Skill checks: an auto roll of a 1 is a skill failure. It represents you just having a brain fart, you forget how to do something, or you hesitated a bit too long recalling that critical info to perform the skill correctly. It's rare, but we have all had those moments where we are doing something and then suddenly say to ourselves what do i do next? and we have to think about it.
***also: a few months ago, paizo had an issue with their servers that prevented users from logging in for a few days. and they did a bad job advertising what the fix was. I wanted to ask everyone now if they wanted me to start up a discord server for the game so that way, if the website crashes again, we'd have an alternate means of continuing the game. the discord server wouldnt be a change of venue for playing the game, but instead just a way for all of us to stay in contact if paizo.com did crash again.
i wanted to add this special note, in addition to the above.
I suffer from combat PTSD, and go through swings of depression like an MFer. it sucks horribly. i dont want to do anything, i cant think straight, i black out, i am angry.
When i get this way, i dont go online. i dont post. nothing.
So this is my head ups to all of you that if i suddenly dont post anything for a couple of days, dont worry. i havent dropped off the face of the planet. I am having one of those moments where i dont want to do anything. the game is still going on.
I vote rated R. That's just me.
(And, being bipolar, I get the whole depression suckage. All good.)

On a sidenote i'm in Europe GMT+1, according to the internet 1200CST is 1900 for me.
I vote yes for discord. Already have a server and could provide a dedicated private channel there.

I applied for the game because Rizzen is a really fun DM to play with. I've had characters die in his games before so that's fair warning from him ;-)
That combat rule is fine with me. I'll try to post everyday but if I miss a day here or there feel free to Bot me Rizzen, between work, my side law firm, and my daughter, there are days where I just can't get on and with that whole cookies disaster I don't post from my phone any longer as clearing cookies on my phone will f' up too much stuff on there that I don't want to have to deal with.

I would be fine with a discord server, through I'm not too concerned about the Paizo servers imploding again.

I just TPKed a group on level 1 in PF2, but they also did not listen to the many hints...
I'm fine with characters dying in fair fights, hopefully we got a chance to get them back though or replacement characters!
Regarding the rating, this is still a public board and Paizo has certain stances, so i guess that applies.

@Storyteller: I have problems with my phone sometimes as well and will be dependent on it should i have to commute again.
Did you try using a different browser? I mean you can have more than 1 installed. Chrome or Firefox should work fine for this website.
There were also some tricks that help with posting, i can take a look where i bookmarked that and send it to you.
Also you can have discord as an app on your laptop and phone. It's totaly not like facebook or something social media. More like an enhanced ICQ.
I was using Discord to run table top last year and I just could not stand it.

For convenience I suggest we move the logistics discussion ooc.
If we wanted to get a heavy wagon and a couple of light horse to pull it, it will set us back 250gp. That's for a wagon big enough to hold us all. We could get a smaller one and one horse for 125, but half of us would have to walk. I think would be kind of hilarious, though we need someone with handle animal to drive.
In regards to the wand of CLW, that is just good adventure planning. Though I guess maybe a touch metagamy considering the nature of the contract. Still a partially charged one would be much cheaper than getting potions, even with Rizzen's 10% markup, a wand with 10 chargers would be only 165gp, which is like 3 potions.
Though, I guess this is all moot if you're all broke.
I have Handle Animal if need be.
And a couple's of Healer's Kit.
and some steel pieces if needed to donate.

I am not sure the GM's plan but I think Steel =Gold.
Steel = gold in dragonalance.

Sheska does have UMD at +8, so she has a chance on using said wand on healer if healer is not conscious.
I mean Torin can finance the whole thing. I only spent like half the starting coin kitting him out. It's more of an in game thing to chip in. So if people need to take out a loan, he's willing to cover them and his interest rates are reasonable.
On the other hand, part of me thinks it would be funny to have Torin charge people to use the wand. A literal mercenary healthcare provider.
We just received the 150 so I could certainly donate 100 Steel to the cause. Maybe 50 for the wagon and 50 for the Wand.
