About the divine casters, I think it is a lot up to you how you want to spend those resources. Just do as you see they complement the best your characters play.
If anything, I would just suggest the spontaneous caster focuses on spells that are useful everyday like healing, bless or shield of faith, while the prepared one mixes with some more circumstantial ones like endure elements here, mind-affecting like cause fear/command if we know to fight humanoids or animals (hint goblins), or stuff like hide from undead if we are to fight undeads, sun metal if we are to fight trolls, etc... Some circumstantial stuff that you really need when it is needed, like magic weapon or comprehend languages, can be easily covered with a scroll.
Clerics are probably my favorite class, I even have a self-made guide to help cleric spell selection (a hard task at high level) with my personal opinions. Feel free to use it if you see value on it.

Just waiting on Teruko. If she doesn't put a post up by tomorrow, I'll move us forwards.
Aganhei GM |
Actually, yes. I believe that nonlethal damage is healed alongside lethal? So healing the nonlethal damage does actually end the fatigued condition.
Hirabashi Yuto |
Thanks for the help Seishin :D
Perhaps the best option is to wait until we are under shadows, or at least until some damage has piled up to optimize the channel uses, because it seems inevitable some of us will keep falling into the heatstroke.
Aganhei GM |
As an aside, Torra can attempt a DC 17 check to give everyone (except Teruko, who's wearing hot weather clothing that doesn't stack with this, and Seishin, who doesn't need it) a +2 bonus against the heat... so long as everyone's willing to move at half speed across the marsh.
Mind you, moving across the Marsh is a "local" movement rather than "overland," so you will need to take the Fortitude saves much less frequently, if at all.
Aganhei GM |
I will give another few hours before you enter into the Marsh. Then the fun begins!
Hirabashi Yuto |
I can work with that way you are proposing, but just to raise awareness, you can handle scaling results on skill checks with nested spoilers (it only allows a single nested level though):
You see this...
DC 15
You also see this
DC 20
You too see this.
K. arcana DC 20
You identify the creature as a large fire elemental.
Aganhei GM |
If I knew how to nest spoilers, I might do just that!
Hirabashi Yuto |
The trick is to not place a name in the nested ones, you can use ooc for that! :D
This will fail:
Basic information.
Nested information.

Where this will work:
Basic information.
[ooc]DC 15[/ooc]
Nested information.

Aganhei GM |
I see.... hm. I don't like that as much, but I'll take it under consideration.
Aganhei GM |
Oh, right, if anyone Seishin wants to heal the nonlethal damage, everyone else could stop being fatigued... On the other hand, you may want to wait until there's actual combat. It's up to you.
Hirabashi Yuto |
Up to Seishin, but I would suggest holding up for now to optimize our few low level resources.
A -1 to attack and AC seems something bearable to me, more so taking into account we are 5 and we are blessed with 25-pt builds.
Plus, roleplaying the fatigue is a fun way to picture how weak we are and how different from end of game we will be :D

I am quite surprised no one has already jumped over the body to loot it :D
I have a loot sheet with many automatizations that helps a lot tracking party wealth and splitting treasure. I have created a copy and shared it as a Treasure spreadsheet link in Yuto's status bar.
If the group finds it useful too, we can keep it up to date.
I use the column "Claimers" (K) to assign an item to a character. If the character registers it as his/hers, then the name is moved to "Currently in" (L) as a confirmation that the character is aware and no one wants the item too. I do this because often people ask if anyone else is interested in X item, then the thread goes on and the topic is forgotten, the item laying in the dust. This way we know when people has really incorporated an item to their character and not just claimed interest.
Every character has its own tab in the spreadsheet. There will automatically appear all the items that have his/her name on either "Claimers" (K) or "Currently in" (L).
You have a column to input the equipment you buy, so tracking your equipment and remaining money is just easier than editing text in the character profile.
In between both the party items the character has claimed and the bought items, there is a column that will be automatically updated with party shares.
Those shares are easy to track, we just mark the "Status" (J) column with "Sold 1", "Sold 2", etc. when we sell the corresponding item. That way we quickly get the amount of gold the group has after selling stuff at the markets (the sum appears at the "Statistics" tab), and we can easily track when an item was sold.
Everyone has edit permissions.

Oh, hey, that's great! Now I don't have to fuss about with mine. I'll link it in my profile, too.

Aren't you guys so glad to be getting these awful rolls out before you go meet your first enemy, [REDACTED]?
Hirabashi Yuto |
Oh, well... as long as our GM does not get the 20s in combat... ^_^
Aganhei GM |
I make no promises. I am pretty sure I won't toss you against a CR 2 thing that could potentially one-shot someone to dead rather than just dying, though. At least, not when you're depleted on resources...
Once was enough.
Anyways... :P
Hana Tenko |
I certainly hope that's the case!

Alright, it just occurred to me that the number of times Seishin can channel energy is the exact number of phases the moon has and that was too gorram thematic not to remark on. :)
Torra Voliokerdam |
Torra: commenting on people's tics, wow, rude.
Also Torra: are you aware that you are very clumsy.
Aganhei GM |
I have a post almost ready, I just want to give Hana a chance to do stuff with Walthus before we get too far in.
Aganhei GM |
Boom.
EDIT: Note that none of you had the appropriate knowledge skill to identify the goblin snake's weaknesses and abilities, so I didn't put up the spoiler. Normally I will, if you can make it.
Hirabashi Yuto |
Well, what can I say... that was a good way to start Yuto's career xD
More than the critical itself, I think the whole scene itself made for a great development moment for this character.
Besides, I think we got very lucky with the dice, that and being a single enemy helped a lot, thankfully.
It's lunch time for me now, more to come later! Let's hope Yuto manages to articulate some words and help in the conversation that follows!
Aganhei GM |
You literally took it from full hp to disabled in one attack. To think I was considering giving him another level of sorcerer, but decided not to because I didn't want his hp to be too high. Admittedly, that was when he still had mage armor rather than expeditious retreat...
Ah, well, it was my first time adding class levels to a monster, so I'm on the whole pleased that he did any damage at all.

It's not a big deal here, Hana, but remember Knowledge skills used untrained can only get you a result of 10 at the max. Anything higher doesn't get you any more information (i.e. don't look at the spoilers >10 if you have no ranks in a knowledge skill).
Hana Tenko |
Understood. I'll edit the post.
Aganhei GM |
I want to give Seishin a chance to catch up, but I'll move us on either tonight or tomorrow.
Aganhei GM |
Treat Deadly Wounds require a Healer's Kit, does anyone have one?
Hm... I think I'd allow it with a -4 penalty without a healer's kit, because I don't see anything saying it requires a healer's kit, only that you take a cumulative -2 penalty for each of the two uses of a healer's kit you lack. So you can... well, I don't actually think you guys can, now that I say that. Torra has a very slim chance of beating DC 20 with the -4 penalty, but she's already rolled. Seishin can only do it on a natural 20. Treating deadly wounds normally is pretty tough!
Teruko Kaijitsu |
So Yuto voted to have Walthus come with and Teruko voted for him to stay put. Anyone else have an opinion on the matter?
Hana Tenko |
With him already having made a map to Licktoad Village it seems unnecessary to bring him along.
Aganhei GM |
One thing to keep in mind is that Walthus will tell you there's no bridges from his side of the Soggy River to the Licktoad Village's side. The easiest option is to go around on the Lost Coast Road to the Old Fish Trail, but that's probably longer and also hotter (though by the time you leave, that may be less of a problem).
The other option is to swim through the river - which is not easy. Some of the smaller streams are more easily waded through, but that's also pretty far out of your way.
Aganhei GM |

You know, only Yuto could feasibly take 10 and beat a DC 10 Swim check, I think. Seishin might be able to if he takes off his armor.
... wow, I had no idea I'd chosen a bunch of people who used strength as their dump stat. xD
Torra Voliokerdam |
Torra has pretty good saves, except for Will, so I'm fine with someone else taking the cloak and wearing it as a half-cape. :)
I wonder if basic geokinesis can be used to aid another with swimming, like making little bumps in the terrain underwater to help with footing. We also have rope, so we can have someone cross with it, then tie it off or hold it to help the others cross.
Aganhei GM |
I don't think Torra gets basic geokinesis until level 2, when she gets access to her first wild talent. Other than that, I'd happily say that's a great idea!
The rope idea is a good one, too.

Basic geokinesis is available at level one as a bonus wild talent as part of elemental focus.
Aganhei GM |
Oh, right you are! Then it might help, yes. Although, the Soggy River's bigger branches are, uh, pretty deep.
Teruko Kaijitsu |
My vote would be for Yuto to get the cloak half-cape of resistance. He's tied with Hana for the worst will save and could easily cause a world of hurt if hit with, say, a Murderous Command.
Hirabashi Yuto |
Yuto has really pretty bad Will. He probably will have to take Iron Will at one point or another. Meanwhile, any little boost will certainly help.
I am fine with Yuto crossing and set the rope for the rest. Without the shield he has a +3 Swim, and without the armor he has a +8.
Aganhei GM |
Even without taking off his armor, with taking 10, he can cross the river easily.
Hana Tenko |
Despite the weak Will and Fort saves I'm content with Yuto getting the cloak.
I'm also down with Yuto crossing the river and just the handing the rest of his unathletic wimps a rope.

"Well, none of my shards met the end of their lives by drowning, so how was I supposed to know taking swimming lessons would be prudent?"
Aganhei GM |
I'll get a post up about progress (presumably with the rope and all) tomorrow.
Hirabashi Yuto |
Hana, I am fine with you taking the cloak. Yuto has better Fort and he has the resolve points to fight failed saves :)
I am sure there will be more opportunities for Yuto to get his own cloak!
Hana Tenko |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Well if Yuto is willing to give the cloak up - and there no other objections or claimants - than Hana will whole heartedly take it up. She's pretty small anyway, so it will probably look best on her lol.
Aganhei GM |
Whoever takes it, please update your profile at the top of your posts, it's what I usually use for saves during combat.
