Orst swipes at the blood with a short prayer. laying of hands as a swift action lay of hands: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3) = 7
He then moves into the room to help subdue the female pirate lady.
Takes long way to avoid AOO

GM Nowruz |

Orst heals himself!
The lady pirate is surprised when so many suddenly appear in front of her.
"Aha not bad, but with you all here this is almost a fair fight. Slave: attack." she says to the half-orc but somehow she does not look good and the half-orc is not sure how to act.
Sorry, she has the sickened condition and I did not reflect that on the last post. 4 less damage for Orst!
Jirandiel tries to parry the first attack on her and is successful in pushing Walla's weapon away to riposte and pierce Walla's shoulder!
Parry Rapier, AoO spent, 5/6 panache remaining, sickened: 1d20 + 22 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 22 - 2 = 28
Riposte, Rapier, immediate action, sickened: 1d20 + 22 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 22 - 2 = 271d6 + 6 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 12 - 2 = 22
*
Robun's heals the wounds of Walla and Ryker again and then casts a burst of radiance that hurts both the elf and half-orc but they can close their eyes in time to not be blinded!
Burst of Radiance DC 16, reflex Jirandiel, sickened: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 13 - 2 = 171d4 ⇒ 4
Burst of Radiance DC 16, reflex Phlegos, sickened: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 13 - 2 = 181d4 ⇒ 3
*
Frost smites the pirate lady and although she tries to parry the blade, Frost is able to cut into her flank!
Parry Rapier, AoO spent, 4/6 panache remaining, sickened, dazzled: 1d20 + 22 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 22 - 2 - 1 = 27
*
After having been hit so hard by Frost, Jirandiel concentrates on her! She thrusts three times and although the Paladin's defenses are up, she can pierce Frost's chest twice leaving blood everywhere!
Rapier, primary, sickened, dazzled: 1d20 + 22 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 22 - 2 - 1 = 311d6 + 6 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 12 - 2 = 21

Rapier, iterative 2, sickened, dazzled: 1d20 + 22 - 10 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 22 - 10 - 2 - 1 = 291d6 + 6 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 12 - 2 = 20

The elf turns to the half-orc and shouts "Kill them Phlegos or you have to manicure my feet with your skin flayed!"
She then steps back!

Sorry for the hot dice. :-(

GM - I stated in my previous post that I wanted to end my Life Link with Walla and Ryker. That is a free action, so I shouldn't have absorbed their damage on my turn.
Robun moves around into the larger room outside the corridor, then waits until his foxy friend comes out as well to channel energy to heal himself and his allies.
Move, then prepare an action to channel once Fox comes into the larger room and can be affected by the emanation of my channel. Excluding both enemies thanks to Selective Channel.
Prepared Channel: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1) = 10

GM Nowruz |

Sorry Robun. Life link ended! I assume Fox will come in so I will resolve now.

GM Nowruz |

Orst, I assume you attack the half orc and move forward? Crit did confirm without the cover penalty. 23 damage.
Ryker is up!
Orst moves in and attacks the former venture captain!
In his captivity, Phlegos has lost a great deal of weight, leaving him with sagging skin.
Though deprived of his equipment, his skin is unbelievably tough. Nonetheless, the first blade strike slashes his neck and blood flows! But the second strike cannot penetrate his skin!
The half-orc shouts out!
"Please! Spare me!" he pleas at the threat of Orst's attack.
Phlegos is half-orc & as written, he wants to join the Pathfinders in the battle. Asking him to join you effectively ends the combat.

![]() |

Orst looks a little confused. The elf pirate is dead and his sword bites into Phlegos instead. He reassesses the situation and the half-orc's plea.
sense motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
I had attempted to post earlier but it did not go then I posted without knowing or reading Frost's or GM Nowruz's results. My apologies.

Orst evaluates the situation, "I think you are not so much with us as you are with us right now. I think at the first chance all bets are off."
Orst points his sword at Phlegos, "On your belly, hands behind your back. Tie his hands, someone." Orst stays ready to strike. "We will protect you and keep you safe, but you are our prisoner and you are coming back with us."
Orst shares his suspicions with the group.

Sense Motive 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
"Understandable that you'd want to save your own skin - I have given all your companions the chance to surrender peacefully, you are just the first one in your outfit with enough brains to accept the offer"
"What is going to happen now is that you will be taken prisoner like my friend here has just stated, you will be bound and your weapons stripped. You will cooperate fully and be forthright and honest in your dealings with us - and should you engage in treachery the response will be swift and decisive - suggest you do not invoke the ire of a Paladin of Ragathiel as our righteous vengeance is rather sharp"
OK he's going to spill the beans or face some smiting judgment

GM Nowruz |

Phlegos grins and nods.
“Very good! Listen!! I’m sure they told you Phlegos Dulm is a traitor to the Pathfinders. But I’m not!! Society agents obtained false evidence that disgraced me! I’m a venture-captain!! Why would I sabotage the monetary and political power of Venture-Captain Yuul ?!? Why!?“
He shakes his head.
“I was devastated when they claimed that I poisoned my enemies, including Pathfinders and their allies, and profited heavily from a fabricated direct involvement in illegal slave trade! Ridiculous!!“
He stands up.
“I was framed! I mean imagine!! Who in their right mind would try to poison agents at Venture-Captain Roderus’s retirement party?!?“

![]() |

"Then you'll have no problem with being returned to face down your accusers" Frost states flatly "Now, tell us about missing Pathfinder agents, the now defeated Pirate Captain, and exactly what is going on here. Also the location of any stolen goods and the like. The more you cooperate in a full and frank way the better it will reflect on you"

Tiny fox |

Sense motive animal instinct/nature's senses? :)
I was wondering if not through words, since i obviously botched getting a hunch, i would smell anxiety or something in close proximity.
It wouldn't particularly help in determining his thoughts, but i've been in animal shape thus far.

"Phlegos I won't repeat my question, I suggest you just focus on ignoring it because what is about to happen is we will have to go through this place the boring old hard way without your assistance, however should I find anything that refutes the claim and you turn out to have been something more then I will consider that an abandonment of the terms of your surrender - us sparing you and doing the right thing is based on you in turn doing the right thing"
"I would also remind you that full and frank disclosure now may save you revealing it under less pleasant terms should the Society employ someone far less civilised than us to pry the information from you"
"Final chance to speak"
Frost is neither offering diplomacy - she doesn't care if he likes her, nor intimidating - she's just making the truth plain and he can make his own choices, and she isn't bluffing - he's likely to face a noose if he keeps being an idiot

GM Nowruz |

Phlegos thinks for a moment.
"Ehh ... well ... I think I was mind controlled!! There were Pathfinders ... six of them and this witch that you killed forced me to enslave them!! Can you imagine that!?"
You all look at him and really believe that he is not hiding anything.

B5 - I had not described the room in which you are.
The chaos of construction reigns in this room. Remains of a bedroom and smoking parlor linger amidst piles of debris, construction materials, and misplaced tools.
~
Suddenly, you see that a man carefully looks around the corner. Three further men follow him!
They clearly look like slaves and currently are chained around a support beam in the far wall and obviously were hiding during your combat.
"Please," gasps one, "Free us."
The slaves are all exhausted from overwork and suffering from hunger and dehydration.
When they see Phlegos you see a mix of hatred, anger and fear in their faces.

![]() |

"I gave you fair warning and you still haven't answered my questions - WHERE are the Pathfinder agents, tell me about the defeated Pirate Captain, and exactly what is going on here, and the location of any stolen goods and the like"
"I'm going to ask these poor slaves here for their testimony and then you shall be judged"

GM Nowruz |

"Pathfinders? Do you know who this half-orc is!!?” one of the slaves asks with anger, "I am Kaborghia, the leader of the Pathfinder expedition sent here to investigate the island. We had discovered some tablets tied to the Katheer’s Venicaan College."
He goes quite.
"I will speak no more on the matter. Except to Ambrose Valsin."
Phlegos is cowering now.
“Look what this elven monster did to us all!! It was her!! I am a loyal pathfinder!!“

![]() |

"I have heard all I need to hear, you are a common pirate and a slaver that has refused to cooperate with us and give full and frank answers to the questions I put to you"
"You mistake me Phlegos, you wont be seeing Valsin, your journey ends here" Frost draws her sword "Orst, put the prisoner on his knees, the victims of this mans crimes will have their righteous vengeance. Phlegos has done nothing to show repentance by cooperating so the judgment shall be swift and final"

Tiny fox |

You mistake me Phlegos, you wont be seeing Valsin, your journey ends here
I believe Kaborghia is saying he will only talk to Ambrose.
While the fox is generally neutral in matters not regarding his mistress, he understand the briefing.
As Frost steps up to the task of Judge Dredd executioner, the fox yelps to draw attention.
It hastily scratches into the table, a set of depictions.
A very crude version of the venture captain's face, with a piece of paper, and below...
The ugly face of Phlegos, arrow, barred prison window, question mark.
Boss lady letter.

It stares at Frost with the most cute

"Frost, I understand your frustration with this individual, but I think we are supposed to bring him back. He should answer for his deeds with answers to questions to those he has wronged and maybe then he gets the sword or rope. But our mission is to bring him back. So let's tie him up good and bring him back."
As for the pathfinders, Orst turns to them and says, "Can you help explain what is going on here? We are here to get you folks and take you home too."
"Besides having the people he owes money to get their hands on him might be better justice than a quick death by your sword, Frost."
Orst will pull out his rope and force Phlegos down on his knees. He will tie his hands and continue by coiling the rope around the half orc securing his arms to his body. Finally he will gag the Ex-captain with cloth secured by rope.
"That ought to hold him for a while, at least until we can get him in a proper jail."

![]() |

"Yes, while it would be easier to let him rot here. We should take him back and have the ten pass judgement."
Walla then starts to search the elf then the other bodies looking for keys to unlock the slaves.

![]() |

"He has already revealed he has nothing to tell and nothing of value, so there is no need to take him to Ambrus Valsin or to the Ten, he's indicated to us he is little more than a common pirate, kidnapper, and general menace. He has no coin with which to repay those he stole from, I just asked him for the location of this and he hasn't answered, nor can he even tell us the simplest tale of what is going on here, so he has no information worth dragging him back for. He hasn't told us anything at all, which suggests he has nothing to tell"
"I move to the evidence though. He has been caught by us aiding and abetting a known pirate and slaver, we have her body right there and saw it with our own eyes. We have him for kidnap and slavery, for here are his victims and we have heard their testimony. He has offered nothing in his defence other than try to claim that he was a victim here with nothing to corroborate his story, and has expressed no remorse or contrition for his deeds"
Frost tries recalling the local regional punishment for the crimes as listed - Profession (Barrister) +5, assume take 10? Should know common punishments and requirements for evidence.

Tiny fox |

The fox scratches two stick figures in a thought cloud. One with tusks losing his head to a sword, arrow pointing at one of an angry frown woman with a letter.
Boss lady angry if Phlegos is killed now, i think.
It then looks over to Ryker and Friar Obun.

![]() |

Frost continues thumbing through her handy guide to local laws, "Has not he a tongue to speak the truth and offer some contrition? It seems that his only line of defence is to rely on the clemency of others. I wonder what mercy his victims believe he should be shown"
"Our remit was clear. Karisa wished to question Phlegos about missing Pathfinders, and yet here we have them, so she has no need for Phlegos. She indicated the Decemvirate wanted him for questioning and urged us to bring him in alive, if possible"
Frost is quite happy to debate it, but as long as Phlegos understands his complete lack of being helpful is signing his own death warrant
"Very well Phlegos, we shall pull this place apart and leave no stone unturned. When we are done there will be a reckoning for you, and if you aren't in a gibbet or doing the hempen jig from a gallows on the docks of Sedeq by sunset I'd be surprised"

Looking at the Pathfinders, "Karisa Starsight sent us to find you." Diplomacy Aid: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Giving the others the chance to make their points, but Frost is sticking to her guns for now that Phlegos is nothing more than a common pirate that is being obtuse and willfully unhelpful and probably due a swift judgment

![]() |

Paralyzed by fear of Frost's wrath, Friar Robun finds his tongue stuck to the roof of his mouth. When he finally croaks out his feelings on the matter, his normally jovial demeanor has disappeared. "C-come now, Frost. I certainly understand that Phlegos is a scoundrel, but we have orders to bring the man in for further questioning if possible. He poses no threat to anyone now. Perhaps a less hasty interrogation will pry more truth from him than your...er...rather severe methods have produced."
He turns then to the enslaved Pathfinders. "My friends, we are glad to find you living. Please, I understand your wish to report your findings to the venture captain, but can you tell us anything of what you have experienced here?"
Aid Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Kaborghia looks at the other three slaves and then looks at Robun and shakes his head.
"No, I will only talk to Valsin!"
He spits in the direction of the former half-orc VC.
"You enslaved us! You sent us here! I hope you burn in hell Phlegos!" Kaborghia shouts.
He then sees the Tengu's and elf'S lifeless bodies and you see some satisfaction in his eyes.
"This Tengu is Flak’ak! He doubled as Jirandiel’s first mate and ship surgeon. He enjoyed spending his shore-leave tormenting us slaves. We are building a new wing for the estate."
He looks at the elf.
"I think Jirandiel herself has the keys to our chains, as Flak'ak has lost them on more then one occasion and is no longer allowed his own set. Can you search her please!"
