Fate in the Future ||| xxx2 ||| xxx3

Noke tries to change's the faded devil's luck, but no dice. Morgoth wards against attacks in his area. Anastasia tries to examine the creature closer but can only determine it is neither alive nor dead, perhaps just a potent manifestation of the haunt that Vina has declared.

Stan wastes no time assaulting the fiend with a single arrow and even more channeled energy while Vina tries to follow suit, but cannot quite make contact with the strange beast. still holding that charge though...

Gilgrim darts past the monster to position for a future attack. The fiend seems not to care about his acrobatic movements.

Zarta's eyes harden and she bellows out, challenging its claim from moments ago. "I know not of whom you speak, dread Gorthoklek, but I shall face you now through the gathered strength of my ancestors and you will fall again." Her body begins to vibrate and she inspires courage to all (+3 to hit and damage).

The great devil laughs at the mere thought of repeated defeat and his claw smashes into the vanaran druid. Instead of pain or injury the attack fills Vina with images of her worst fears, and she fights off the specter of death. Need a will save and fortitude save from Vina vs Phantasmal Killer

The best thing I can think of would be to hit him with an blunt arrow for non-lethal damage and then just run around the pool to stay away from him, since he only moves 20 ft, and I can double move for 60 once I hit him. I assume the pool would be difficult terrain if he tried to move directly across it. Any better ideas?

"This is a ritual scene reenacting Abrogail I’s sale of her soul to Asmodeus in Winter Grove, complete with a copy of the contract’s two page preamble in a glass display case..."

"These portraits depict Thrune agents whose souls Leventi acquired..." She adds. "one is missing..."

"We were attacked by illusory figures fighting on a Corentyn battlement during Davian’s last surge during the Battle of One Hundred Kings in 4639 ar. And here, the prow from the Sargavan frigate Dauntless that sank in that same battle. The devil you vanquished was named Gorthoklek. He haunts the Davian line to this day..."

She pauses to look upon the doomed illusory Davian warriors assailing the walls of Corentyn thoughtfully and her voice softens. "There’s nothing that I can do for the dead — including the forces that opposed House Thrune decades ago — but I wonder what the living might do to stop further injustices."

Returning from her nostalgic turn, Zarta nods to the last scroll-portal. "Alas, we do have business to attend to still and my thoughts must remain for another time. Come let us face Leventi as one."

Noke starts to one by one fortune hex all her companions including all animals and familiars!!

Fortune (Su)
Effect: The witch can grant a creature within 30 feet a bit of good luck for 1 round. The target can call upon this good luck once per round, allowing him to reroll any ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check, taking the better result. He must decide to use this ability before the first roll is made. At 8th level and 16th level, the duration of this hex is extended by 1 round. Once a creature has benefited from the fortune hex, it cannot benefit from it again for 24 hours.

She cackles all the time while doing this!

Free Action to ride. Happu Double moves for Noke. Noke uses move action to cackle on to continue the fortune hex on all players as long as they are within 30 ft.
@ALL PLAYERs: Currently all are under the fortune effect. Noke will try to CACKLE all the time but if she stops or you move more than 30 ft away from Noke then the effect is active for another two rounds.

Then they can all move through the final scroll.

Morgoth spends couple charges from the Wand of Infernal Healing to heal himself and Bess. He makes some notes during Zarta speaks but quickly put away his quill and scroll to proceed.

@Vina, Protection fron Fire was used earlier and I believe still here. But it's fine to renew it.
Morgoth's buffs: Magic Circle Against Evil, Communal Resist Energy (Fire), Hunter's Blessing, Effortless Armor, Air Bubble, False Vision.
And some recieved from his teammates :)

Noke, you know, it's a bit creepy. But I aprecciate and understand Pathfinder psychological deformation. I am ready.

... Morgoth shares his doubts, that the team got no plan: are we going to talk with Leventi or escalate to violence immideately? As an advocate Morgoth suggests not to initiate combat. But as a Pathfinder and an aasimar he thinks its better to unleash saint anger immidiately.

"My guess would be Gellius Thrune's... be ready for anything." Zarta replies to Stan, just before stepping into the final scroll-portal and disappearing with a lengthened thrum. The rest of the group follows suit.

-----------------------------

The lurid glow of flames within an iron-grated pit illuminates this well-appointed chamber. Ancient scrolls smoldering with Infernal script move with an unseen breeze, and glass cases display statues carved to resemble hellish armor along the
southern wall.

Leventi - the contract devil - waits between them, looking quite charming and poised. He waits until all have arrived and smiles broadly. “Welcome, my esteemed guests! Please, let us not resort to our baser instincts when we can instead discuss this matter to our mutual benefit. I am a simple broker, and if I have something you desire…” He holds up a glass jar swirling with inky mist and an older Chelish man’s disembodied head peering out. “…I would gladly negotiate its sale.”

Anyway, Morgoth is planning to use this moment as a diversion and at least activates Sihedron Brand for some extra survival ability.

Now, dear Leventi. You are corrupted and not trustworthy devil who abuse power. We are not here to negotiate. But to hear your confession which probably will lead you to hierarchy falling instead of dismantling. , - Morgoth obvioulsy ready to make notes.

The devil accepts the scroll from Bess without acknowledging the imp with any grace.

"No need to be coy, young gnome." Leventi intones as he raises the head for emphasis. "I'm sure that Gellius Thrune here would be in better hands with you than me. This is not a negotiation, Master Mobray. Just a simple trade. We both know the facts of the matter. But have you considered the consequences of removing me?"

The contract devil takes a step forward.

"I'm sure some of you are are eager to weaken Hell..." Leventi observes - turning to address those other than Morgoth "...and as far as Hell is concerned, your investigation has clearly shown that I reflect too much initiative and recklessness, which the archdevils would consider a crack in Hell’s armor. By this reasoning, capturing me would reinforce Hell’s authority, whereas letting me survive and prosper would allow you to undermine Hell’s authority. Wouldn't you feel better with me remaining in power than say... Vetrivides and his thugs? What say you, master paladin? Kill the more dangerous devils... more to your liking I would think?"

You forget, Leventi that there are two aspects to all things, Law versus Chaos and Good versus Evil. While I do not agree with the Evil aspects of this place, we are aligned in terms of respect for Law. You obviously have no respect for the Law, and have committed many acts that are both Evil and Unlawful. I am sure the government here can come up with a suitable set of punishments for your actions. Besides, I have heard enough of your "contracts" to know that I cannot believe a word you say.

"No belief necessary, my good man. We will seal the deal with a contract, of course. I've come up with a succinct one while I've been stuck here waiting for you these past few days. It will be quite simple, no reneging. Your esteemed advocate will certainly be able to verify the wording."

Still quite calm, Leventi dangles the bottled head one more time to clarify.

"One simple exchange: You destroy Vetrivides and his two brutes out there and I give you the soul of Gellius Thrune. Do I need to offer more? If so, tell me what you really want... I can work wonders."

"It's bigger than you at this point. Multiple factions have aligned themselves against you, Leventi. You have upset the balance of power here. You can surrender to us now and come out willingly to submit to Hell's authorities. They suspect you won't do so willingly, which is why they have sent us expendable mortals to fetch you. Prove them wrong, and live yet untold millennia to plan your revenge. Make the smart move and just submit, if you are the genius you think you are. A servant of Asmodeus is present right here to bear witness to your ability to see the greater picture, so take advantage of this audience. Morgoth made some notes while listening Leventi. After giving his teammates opoortunity to dialog and panick a bit, he continues in a stronger voice. He makes it as if reading shcedule.

Subjectas Leventi you've been heared. As a Master and a part of the Law which is greater than mortal or immortal people I am a witness of you, suggesting us to destroy another devil and companion of yours. , - the brrister quickly writes something down.

Speaking about other possible accusations... I have a few witnesses and documents of your deeds. For example you bought a free person and used force to let him come to Dis and than ambush law abiding Diabolsit and faithful Asmodean advocate - me. I am speaking about Narsino Gabet. - Morgoth makes a pause to look around before continue reading.
Another example of your crimes, subjectas Leventi. You contracted Staebius Kalmp agent's souls - Hellknights, which is obvious abusing power and even an Asmodeus-damned imp knows it. The last paragaph makes this case personal for me. In comparison with such Law trampling - I do not give any s*@* about any soul, even Thrune. "You have done an admirable job documenting my failures, Master Mobray. I would be destroyed for such actions, dear Vina. Surrender is not palatable to me."

He takes a step back to his original position.

"You claim to be simple mortals, but I see more. We all started as incarnations of our present selves. Only through careful planning and persistence have you grown to be the valiant souls that now stand before a devil in the pits of Hell, his future... in their hands. Do you not wish to grow further? Wish for Power - You can spend 16 Prestige Points once to gain a +1 inherent bonus to one ability score of your choice.

Wish for Wealth - You earn an extra 1,100 gp for completing this scenario.
