Gameplay for GM Gustavef's SFS1-05 First Mandate.
Dot and Delete for now. More details will be ready early Feb

![]() |

The First Seeker’s meeting room is a lavish space, with several lush couches and armchairs surrounding a wide, low table. First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo appears uncharacteristically extravagant, having exchanged her typical stationwear for a sleek, fashionable suit in a shade of copper that matches the Starfinder Society logo emblazoned on the table. Behind her stands the towering vesk leader of the Acquisitives faction, wearing a suit of ceremonial armor.
You are able to meet your fellow Starfinders while Luwazi and the vesk finish their conversation.

![]() |

A green-haired halfling wearing heavy armor enters the room and chooses one of the couches. He removes a large shield from his left hand with his prosthetic right and leans it against the back of the couch. He then takes a seat, beckoning to anyone else who enters that he doesn't mind being joined on the seat.
"Call me Kneepuncher," he says casually to anyone who accepts his invitation. "I'm here to... well, you probably figured that out already."
He then appears to be distracted for a moment, and whispers to no one in particular, "Yeah, I want to too, but talky parts first."

![]() |

A shifty looking Halfling in a dark armor hide enters with a sniper rifle slung over his shoulder and dual pistols at his hip. He looks around the room scoping it out before taking a seat in one of the corners.
He nods his head toward the other Halfling and when he introduces his name he simply and quietly responds with "I'm Gammer".

![]() |

A Tall Vesk enters the space.
Greetings Starfinders. I am candidate Grimace. I have been granted the honor of becoming a Starfinder for the glory of Vesk all across our great alliance. This will be my very first mission. I know it is of great importance!

![]() |
Following closely behind is a Damaya Lashunta woman with a friendly smile, and matching blue hair and azure tattoos of circuitry running down her left arm.
"Nice you meet you all; I'm Doctor Soryn Suloro, but call me Soryn. I'm looking forward to working with you today; what're your specialties?"

![]() |

A Shirren follows Kneepuncher into the room and sits next to him on the couch. Xic is my name, healings my game.
Xic is an average Shirren but has red chitinous exoskeleton, large black compound eyes, and black Second Skin armor. He is carrying his battle staff and sets it next to him.
Welcome Grimace, glad to break in a new adventurer. Xic's antennae are twitching.

Luwazi smiles and gestures to the seats. “A pleasure to see you all. I trust you’ve heard about tonight’s gala? I have a rather important announcement to make, so we’ve decided to use the opportunity to entertain and impress representatives of the various interests who have helped the Starfinder Society through our setbacks with the Scoured Stars Incident.
“That’s where you come in. As some of the shining stars of the newest Starfinder Society agents, I’d like to have you mingle with the guests so they can see for themselves what we’ve been able to accomplish. It’s nothing too fancy; I’d just like you all to be polite and talk about some of your experiences with the Society so far. We’re expecting some government dignitaries, investors, corporate interests, and the like, so be sure to stay on your best behavior. Also, don’t be afraid to brag a bit—it’s our goal to impress them.”
“But don’t be stupid,” the armored vesk breaks in.
Luwazi Elsebo glances over her shoulder and grins. “Have you all met Radaszam? He’s certainly someone else you should be trying to impress.”
Radaszam scowls. “Events like this never go as planned. Luwazi’s contracted one of my merc outfits, the Obsidian Spiders, to provide security for the night. I want to make sure that if anything goes down, you’re working with my agents, rather than us all tripping over one another. So stay alert, but if anything happens, make sure you’re talking to me about it rather than jumping in blindly.”
The First Seeker nods and picks up the datapad. “I’ve singled out five guests who I would really like to make a good impression with. These folks should be your priority tonight, so I’ve compiled basic information about each of them here. Things will start up in about an hour in the Skyreach Room. Any questions before we go?”

![]() |

Kneepuncher mutters under his breath, "No, I don't think we are supposed to hit any of them."
Then louder and to Luwazi and Radaszam, he adds, "Huh, not often you use me for that skill set. I would have dressed nicer if I knew that going in." He taps his data pad, which now shows the profiles of the guests Luwazi chose. "Make these folks happy and make them think we aren't just flying around breaking things and putting them back together. Got it."
Now to see how often I can substitute Profession: Courtesan for the skills the scenario asks for...
Kneepuncher asks Radaszam to add the security channel to his persona comm unit so that, if things go pear-shaped, he will be able to coordinate with the Obsidian Spiders.

![]() |
Soryn scans the guest list, grimacing when she reaches a certain name on it. "Zo!, huh? I'm familiar with him."
Moving on, she frowns a bit in confusion, "I see a couple of Starfinders on the list; what's the angle you want us to push there? Aren't they all in behind the Society?"

![]() |

Grimace will respond enthusiastically to Radaszam.
Sir, if anything unplanned occurs this evening, we will fully cooperate with your Security staff. Can we coordinate with them now. before we engage in the event so as to ensure we are ready beforehand?
Grimace reviews the guest list, trying to look like he knows who these people are, making little notes to himself. Then he mutters to himself Ah Zo, that guy is awesome..

![]() |

Everyone can also make a Culture check to see if you know anything else on any of the guests
Radaszam nods at the suggestion and gives you access to the security channel used for the gala. "I don't know of anything specific about to go on, but as always, be prepared. You have as much a briefing as them. I will be around to coordinate any security response between all parties."
Luwazi lets out a small sigh. "Naiaj is a well established Venture Captain of the society, although she never had eyes on the First Seeker position, she was not fully supportive of my candidacy. She doesn't oppose my actions, but I would rather have her actual support"
"You don't need to worry about dressing up for this. Many of the guests will want to see the Starfinders in their action outfits"

Kneepuncher reviews the list once more.

It is one culture check for all.
However, you currently get this additional information.
Royo: The ysoki Royo has something of a rivalry with Historia-7 and the Dataphiles faction, and he tends to snub individuals who he perceives to rely overmuch on technological “crutches.” He’s also an elected member of the Forum, the Starfinder Society’s governing council.
Ykris: The alien symbiote Ykris represents CeriCore Labs. Business-wise, the corporation has very little to gain from the Starfinder Society’s endeavors, but it nevertheless made a substantial donation; rumors suggest the contribution was someone’s pet project.

![]() |

"Greetings all. Xic hopefully we do not need to utilize any of your healings. Doctor Soryn Suloro, I specialize in most things as I'm very versatile such as not being seen."
"That is quite a list you have comprised, First Seeker Luwazi! I have heard of some of them if not knowing them personally."
Culture: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30

I hope there are a few other Shirren.
I hope so too Gammer but I am up to the task.
First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo, we will help with your plan but I am not good in large social extravaganza. I will do my best. Xic's antennae are twitching erratically.

More Info
Iteration-177: Iteration-177 is a relative newcomer to the Aspis Consortium. In addition to making waves by urging Consortium support of the Starfinders, they have an interest in religious artifacts and connections.
Naiaj: Naiaj is a bleachling gnome with a fierce protectiveness of the Starfinders who encourages—some say demands— competence and teamwork from Society agents. She’s a venture-captain who served long before the Scoured Stars incident.
Zo!: Zo! is an undead media mogul well known throughout the Pact Worlds, always looking for an idea for a new show, strategies to improve his ratings, or other lucrative entertainment deals. His organization funded the recent Society expedition to Salvation’s End, and he is keenly interested in further exploration of the false moon.
With the information in hand you make your way to the Gala
The lift doors open into the Skyreach Room, a classy space made breathtaking by large windows set into the vaulted ceiling, providing a shining view of the Armada orbiting Absalom Station and the galaxy beyond. A low stage with black skirting and a sleek podium overlooks the room from the far end of the hall. A dozen or so guests, representing a surprising array of races, mingle in twos and threes, while servers in sharp vests bring around a variety of bizarre snacks and drinks. A curly-haired AV technician arranges the wiring along one side of the stage, and Luwazi stands at the other side speaking with a damaya lashunta man.

Social interaction
Each round, each player can try to influence one of the five main guests. There will be two sets of 4 rounds each. You will need multiple successes to convince each guest.
To influence a guest you will need to impress them with specific skill rolls or tasks. You can also spend your round doing “small talk” with one of the guests and make a Sense Motive check to determine what would impress them.

Grimace has a tremendous amount of respect for Zo!'s amazing Videos, and he dreams one day to be an announcer for his glorious gladiatorial like engagements
Grimace will look for an opportunity approach Zo!, introduce himself and engage in some social talk. Grimace has a theme (Gladiator) with a Profession of Extreme Sports Announcer. He has Diplomacy +8, Sense Motive +8 and Intimidate +13.
In an announcer voiceZo! So drift to meet you, I have been following your amazing exploits for ever, I am a huge fan! When I was being sent here by the Starfinders, I was so looking forward to meeting you! Your most recent broadcasts of the Live Action Extreme are existential!

Soryn drifts over to speak to Ykris, and their host. She was not the most socially adept, so Zo! was off the table, but the "Labs" part of "CeriCore Labs" meant her technical knowledge (and all of those long hours studying) could come in handy. Easy enough, she told herself; just show some interest in their research, ask a few probing questions that show you know your way around the subject, and you're golden; just like when she was a graduate student. Easy enough, right?
But what kind of laboratory was CeriCore Labs? Biotech? Material Science? Genetics? Culture (if necessary): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Kneepuncher will start by trying to suss out Royo. Maybe the fact that he uses his fists for most of his activities will counteract the fact that one of those fists is not quite natural.

Gammer stealthily & discreetly heads over to make small-talk with Naiaj.
Stealth: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30
As he approaches from out of her view, he says quietly, "Venture-Captain Naiaj. It is a pleasure and a surprise to meet someone of your standing at one of these events. How do you find the time? My name is Gammer by the way. May I join you?"
He awaits her response.

Xic walks over to Iteration-177 and asks Hello Iteration-177, my name is Xic and a Starfinder. I believe your new to the Aspis Consortium. Have you all found any new religious artifacts? I am always on the look out to add to the Starfinder’s knowledge of the verse.

Grimace smoozes up on to Zo! and they start talking shop. "You have the voice, and gift. Would you like to guest host on Pact World Warriors? I also have a new show in the works that would be stellar to get some Starfinders on!" You get the sense that Zo! is really interested in the marketing the Starfinders and is looking see what they can bring to the vid screen.
Soryn recalls the following: CeriCore Labs, a biotech firm that specializes in direct neural connections. Ykris’s work on Absalom Station typically involves lobbying and connecting with agents from other cybernetic and biotech firms. Chatting a bit with they are impressed with your knowledge and probes a bit about the Starfinder society and how they two can work together. Soryn holds his own very well with the scientist.
Kneecapper cautious listens in to Ryoko and the small group around the ysoki. The biggest take away is that he is not a fan of those that rely heavily on technology for knowledge. And has a passion for non-digital media and history.
Gammer sneaks on in to the circle with Naiaj. She is very pragamatic and offers very few reactions to gain social queues. It does take a while for her to notice you but does not show any signs of impressed or disapproval. "Starfinders are all about being well informed and ready for anything. Not being seen and keeping out of harms way is good, but that does not always help bring your team home. What would you be able to do while not being noticed?"
Xic talks with the android about some of the fascinating artifacts that Iteration-177 is interested in. They are very impressed with Xic's understanding of the nuances. And get in to interesting discussion about the responsibility of dealing with heretics. Though he is also curious about adventures you have been on.

ROUND 2

Non-digital media, like painting and paper books? Kneepuncher's non-Society work is definitely not digital, but "media" doesn't really describe it either.
Also, it looks like we may need multiples of us to work on Naiaj at the same time.
But I will come back to them later, as I see an opportunity to debase myself for fun and profit.
Kneepuncher mentally shifts gears from showing how competent he is to the work where he becomes everyone's special friend.
"Love your shows! They are so drift. And nobody does action like you - that market is sewn up. But have you ever considered diversifying? Eox might not be a hotbed for romance, but think of all the other sensory apparati you could reach with a show about relationships. Picture this: a series where one eligible bachelor goes on dates with a bunch of unattached people of their preferred race and gender, and eliminating the one he likes each week until..."

Responding to Naiaj, "There are many things that one can do while unseen. I can keep a look out for potential enemies and take them out or warn my team of their location. Hacking into systems to turn out the lights for my team to surprise the enemy. Preparing floor plans for maximum extraction or safe extrication if the mission goes awry. It is good to be well-rounded especially when you do not know what you may encounter on a mission, correct? How about I get a few of my colleagues to show you of what our team is capable?" He heads over to the rest of his team.
Seems like Naiaj will take a team effort. Maybe performing as a team doing something with Aid Another? Anyone else have Computers to help hack the lights? Acrobatics or Athletics? What skills do we all have that overlap? Gammer has most of the skills. Maybe a multi-Diplomacy check?
Gammer can probably influence Iteration-177 with stories, Ykris with Culture +12 & Zo! with talent in Acrobatics +14. Probably can't influence any of the others. We should plan on the best course and perhaps work together on a few of these with Aid Another.

I am pretty new to the Starfinder society. My only recent exploits was traveling to Akiton, to find Talbot who stole the a magic artifact. It turned out to be relic of transmutation. Our mission was to return it to the vaults of the Archive's Cortex. That was a fascinating relic but Talbot was able to transmute regular items into some rare ore. It would have been nice to have time to examine it more but it had to be returned.
One day I hope to study with Historia-7 or at least get to met them. I would like to explore the Scoured Stars and solve the mystery of the disappearance of most Starfinders and First Seeker Jadnura.
I cannot wait learn more about the Scoured Stars.

Soryn makes since limited small talk, and then says her good-byes, meeting up with the rest of the group to share her findings. Learning that Ryoko is publicly skeptical of the Dataphiles, she made a mental note to put in a good word for her chosen faction. First things first, Naiaj needed impressing.
"I haven't done lights and sound work since university; I took a theater class. But, I think I can," Soryn says, pausing for effect as she looks at Naiaj, "help you out here."

Grimace can still take a round 2 action.
Kneepuncher schmoozes up Zo! and does his pitch. Zo! is most amused and gets excited. "Yes! I see it now Starfinder Starfinder, Find me a Love!. My legal team will be in contact later with you"
Xic continues to engage with Iteration-177 and the go on about some theories about the Scoured Stars and about it being the home of many, but lost to a darkness.
Although not working by herself, Doctor Soryn sets up one her fellow starfinders to show of their skills for Naiaj.

You know Venture Captain, The Starfinders not only provide great problem solvers for situations, but the training involved and the level of competency required is no small thing. Starfinders across the sector not only have fantastic skills, but also the teamwork involved that is necessary to complete the harrowing missions is fabulous. Just think how much more effective we could be with a heightened focus on this aspect. Leadership can become a core competency that our allies can rely on no matter where we travel, in the Pact Worlds or the Drfit

Gammer goes with Soryn to Ykris extending his hand, "Pleasure to meet someone such as yourself. I hope I'm not being offensive but am I talking to the symbiote or the host? Or do you both go by Ykris? This reminds me of a situation I encountered in the Ring on Absalom where some Doctors decided to utilize an Ooze to fabricate biotech components which would flawlessly graft to the recipient. Unfortunately the graft kept growing and drained the life force from the recipients thus turning their bodies into mindless zombies.
