Witch's Winter Holiday

Kramac pummels the cultist mercilessly, but his backhanded strike misses - which only creates an opening for Beak to crunch down hard on the man's torso. His blood dripping from the bird's mouth, the cultist slumps to the ground.

From the rear, Flyndyngylyn threads missiles through minuscule openings left by Kiboko's and Mvumbu's jostling. The last remaining cultist takes four arrows to the chest, but remains defiantly on his feet with a snarl.

My mistake - Kramac wouldn't have had his swift action last round after using his immediate action to attempt the Mounted Combat check against the cultist's attack, which means he wouldn't have been able to activate Bane. So it's not active going forward (I'm not going to recalculate damage done already) until Kramac has a swift action (which he doesn't have again this round due to Mounted Combat again.

The cultist on the ground opens his eyes and snarls as the other's chain draws blood - but he wastes no time in grabbing his chain and sending the tip flying at the bird above him!

If Fendel is able to point out the snake's location then Kiboko intends to use his wand of faerie fire - if Fendel can't (or doesn't have the action economy to do so this round) then Kiboko and Mvumbu will be attacking the bekyar scumbags again. I'll post again after Fendel.

These actions assume that 1, Fendel successfully points out the 'snake's' location; 2, Kiboko can aim his wand at that location through the holes in the wall; 3, that Kiboko and Mvumbu can move into their new locations. Kiboko will probably provoke an AoO for movement, from Blue.

"Kiboko will reveal the serpent." The cunning half orc pushes around the ruins, drawing a wand as he goes. Standing over the prone Bekyar, with Mvumbu poised to strike against the standing foe, Kiboko releases a burst of magic from the wand before dropping it to the floor and grabbing his sword with both hands again. A burst of violet light illuminates the snake. Kiboko snarls at the Bekyar, his hated foes.

Actions: switch Bull Focus to Snake (+4 AC vs AoO, +4 to hit with AoOs), move (drawing the wand is free), activate wand, drop wand, grip sword, enter rage (+ ferocious beast).

I don't think a 5' step is possible when squeezing so I'm assuming Mvumbu needs a move action to get into position.

For the second attack, if Blue is still up she attacks Blue, otherwise she attacks Yellow. Against Yellow she loses menacing pack flanking outflank (-6 to hit) but is attacking a prone target (+4)

Fendel points straight ahead between the legs of the large statue and tells Kiboko to aim just past the pillars on either side of the path. As Kiboko moves to a better position, the cultist tries to wrap his chain around the half-orc's ankle...

Blue Trip vs Kiboko Squeezing Snake CMD 28: 1d20 + 19 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 19 + 4 = 26

...but doesn't get a tight-enough grip to bring the fearsome warrior down. The last thing he sees is Mvumbu's large jaws surrounding his head.

Mvumbu's second attack goes to Yellow, but doesn't take him out.

The revealed naga whispers again under her breath before gliding away towards the other side of the path.

Spellcraft DC 16 + 1 per 10 ft distance:
She just cast mage armor.

Witch's Winter Holiday

Zaarah's blade sinks deep into the naga's flesh, but not as deep as the magus would have liked. An arrow flies overhead, clattering against the stones. Beak bites down on the prone cultist, dropping their limp body to the ground as Kramac closes some of the bird's wounds. As the two fly over the stone walls, the half-orc feels his head scraping against an invisible barrier. (With Beak's size, you two can only be 10 ft above the ground.)

Zaarah and Kramac have their attention diverted from the serpent as the building's titanic occupant stirs into action with a ferocious, simian scream. Stone cracks to reveal an enourmous carnivorous ape with foul breath, a jaw full of teeth as long and as sharp as swords, and brightly glowing, deep red eyes. Around its neck is a thick leather collar from which five broken lengths of chain dangle and clink.

The bekyar lie dead or dying at his feet. Kiboko snorts derisively at them and looks around for more - but finding none, he allows his rage to subside for the moment and leaves the bekyar's chamber. The sounds of the ape draw him, and he approaches.

"Anghazan..."

Kiboko calls Mvumbu, and prepares to rejoin battle by activating the spell stored in an ioun stone orbiting his head.

Cast Shield from cracked vibrant purple prism; use a swift action to switch Snake Focus for Mouse (evasion).

Kiboko is fatigued until the start of his next turn.

The Pathfinders descend on the massive ape, but it somehow thwarts their efforts to divide its attention between them. Mvumbu bites down hard through the beast's thick skin and Kiboko follows with a furious swing of his blade. Flyndyngylyn's arrows fly precisely to the same spot on its arm, making a small opening so the final arrow can sink in deep. Kramac and Beak join the fray, though Kramac can't take advantage of the ape's distraction as it roars in pain from Beak's bite. From within its massive hand, Zaarah tries to hex the ape...

...but it only roars back before dropping her to the ground. In its blood-soak rage, the ape turns its attention to the last creature to hurt it.

Mvumbu roars her disapproval and bites the ape's leg, but that doesn't stop it from lunging at the heron with teeth as large as swords that snap shut inches away from Kramac's face. The half-orc pulls his companion away from one clawed hand, but the other catches the bird beneath him and yanks Beak away as the ape steps back. Kramac tumbles to the ground...

...and lands on his back on the other side of the broken wall. This was the best solution I could think of to "what happens when your flying mount is grappled". The ape releases the bird, rearing up on its hind legs in preparation of more carnage.

As the voice speaks again in the Pathfinders' minds, a wash of magic floods the battlefield!

She's a medusa, a creature best known for her petrifying stare and less known for her poisonous bite. As far as you know though, most medusas are not spellcasters...

Fendel is distracted, however, by the smell of dust and musk suddenly nearby. Before he can react, he feels a tug at the wand in his hand...

GM, i don’t think that Zaarah is prone as the ape grappled her and let her go. She was not flying at that time so she’s be standing, right?

GM, sorry but I forgot the 20% concealment roll when I hit the snake with my smoked goggles. Had it in all perception rolls. :-( I’m rolling to see if I missed earlier <20% concealment miss : 1d100 ⇒ 34, ok was a hit after all so no retcon necessary.

Zaarah is wearing her smoked goggles and is unaffected by the lady with the strange aura.

@Everyone - the medusa's gaze only happens at the start of your turn (unless she uses a standard action to force the gaze upon someone). I'll be sure to call out who needs saving throws each round.

Meanwhile, Fendel senses the naga circling around him before a clatter draws his attention to the wand - now visible - on the ground on the other side of the fallen cultists. A few whispered words fill the air with sorrow before transforming into a rush of lightning!

A creature with the scent ability can follow tracks by smell, attempting a Wisdom or Survival check to find or follow a track. The typical DC for a fresh trail is 10 (no matter what kind of surface holds the scent). This DC increases or decreases depending on how strong the quarry’s odor is, the number of creatures, and the age of the trail. For each hour that the trail is cold, the DC increases by 2. Creatures tracking by scent ignore the effects of surface conditions and poor visibility. The ability otherwise follows the rules for the Survival skill.

Mvumbu remains on 'Down' command for now.

Kiboko:
The medusa's scent hangs in the air like a shroud, but it doesn't seem to be stronger in one place than another. Perhaps she has moved through this area numerous times, though the buildup of smell in the air would suggest that that's been happening for a long time.

She was also flying, which would mean no passage on a surface to track.

The Pathfinders steel themselves for the medusa's return, but the Maze remains quiet - for the moment.
