Whilst the worm is hopefully following Kramac and Beak, Kiboko and Mvumbu enter the fray....
"COW?? NAKED COW??!!"
"Njoo mvumbu, hebu tuwaonyeshe hawa wapumbavu nguvu na uzuri wa kiboko! Tunashambulia!"
Both 'Mvumbu' and 'Kiboko' mean 'Hippopotamus' in different languages :)
Kiboko's connection to Mvumbu transmits his anger and his animal strength. He steps up to the worm and holds his sword ready, as Mvumbu crashes in...
Actions: maintain rage with Ferocious Beast rage power - free; swap Mvumbu's Animal Focus to Bull and Tiger - swift; move towards worm - move; ready a vital strike - standard; handle Mvumbu - flank trick - free
Threat!
confirm? furious greatsword vs worm, menacing pack-flanking outflank, amplified rage, bull focus, expertise: 1d20 + 18 + 6 + 4 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (20) + 18 + 6 + 4 + 2 - 3 = 47crit damage: 2d6 + 16 + 3 ⇒ (4, 4) + 16 + 3 = 27
If confirms, provokes AoO vs Worm from everyone with Outflank threatening - Mvumbu, Beak, Kramac - but not sure Kramac can take one on total defence?
| Mvumbu |
"MOOOOAAARRRRRRR!!!! HAARRR!! HARRR!!!"
Mvumbu crashes into the lodge, trampling over splintered furniture to reach Kiboko's side. Her deep connection to her friend fills her with strength and anger...
Tangling Snapping Flank Chomp! vs worm, menacing pack flanking outflank, amplified ferocious beast, bull focus: 1d20 + 13 + 6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 13 + 6 + 4 + 2 = 35damage: 3d8 + 19 ⇒ (6, 3, 1) + 19 = 29
On a hit, the worm is Entangled for 1 round.
Vital Strike Chomp! vs worm, menacing pack flanking outflank, amplified ferocious beast, bull focus: 1d20 + 13 + 6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 6 + 4 + 2 = 27damage: 6d8 + 19 ⇒ (5, 2, 8, 1, 5, 3) + 19 = 43
Outflank AoO:

Mvumbu tears into the giant worm's flesh with her mighty tusks!
It looks like the Tangling Strike is a hit, so Kiboko will Power Attack on his Vital Strike.
Vengeance Strike Chomp! vs worm, menacing pack flanking outflank, amplified ferocious beast, bull focus: 1d20 + 13 + 6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 6 + 4 + 2 = 27damage: 3d8 + 19 ⇒ (2, 4, 1) + 19 = 26
| GM Hawthwile |
@Kramac - since Kramac is using Total Defense, he does not threaten any squares and thus does not provide flanking to Beak.
As Kramac moves, the worm takes the bait...
Purple Bite, PA vs Kramac AC 39: 1d20 + 24 - 5 ⇒ (11) + 24 - 5 = 30
Bite damage, PA: 4d8 + 10 + 10 ⇒ (8, 7, 5, 5) + 10 + 10 = 45
...but the half-orc hops out of the way and the teeth as large as his arm crash into the floor instead. Beak swoops in to take advantage of the distraction, but without Kramac's assistance his own bite cannot penetrate the worm's thick scales.
With a roar, Kiboko and Mvumbu enter the fray! The hippopotamus bites once, twice, taking away mouthfuls of flesh and scale each time! The half-orc swings his sword, and Mvumbu bellows once more as she bites deeply into the massive torso! With a dull thud, the worm hits the ground and does not move.
@Beak - Since Kiboko and Beak are not currently flanking the worm, Kiboko's confirmed Crit does not allow Beak to use Outflank to take an AoO. @Kramac also cannot take one due to both not flanking with Kiboko and not being able to take AoO's due to Total Defense. Thankfully, that's not really an issue.
The remaining golem turns its attention from the bleeding Fendel on the floor in front of it to the newcomers standing over the corpse of the worm. Raising its hands, it bludgeons Mvumbu twice!
Black Slam vs Mvumbu AC 34: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (7) + 22 = 29
Bludgeoning damage: 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (10, 3) + 9 = 22
Black Slam vs Mvumbu AC 34: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (13) + 22 = 35
Bludgeoning damage: 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (3, 4) + 9 = 16
The first arm skids off the hippopotamus's thick hide, but the second leaves a large bruise in its wake.
A few more crimson droplets on the ground are the only sign of Zaarah's continued presence. The pool of blood surrounding Fendel continues to grow... and then suddenly stops.
Breath of Life talisman (CL 9): 5d8 + 9 ⇒ (6, 8, 7, 7, 8) + 9 = 45
A talisman on a cord around the archer's neck suddenly glows brightly before bursting into pieces. Fendel gasps for air, abruptly conscious of the mayhem around him and his precarious position within it.

"Fendel?! How?" Zaarah thinks when she sees that something healed Fendel's wounds and thus she is more concerned about Master Flynn.
She moves to him with her boots of speed granting more movement and during the move, she draws her wand of infernal healing.
When she stands next to her Elven friend, she touches him with the wand.
Fast healing 1 for 10 rounds and some very bad feelings and nightmares washing over the unconscious lawful good archer.
Boots of Speed 2/10.
"Please get well Master Flynn!" she prays.

The detective quickly surmises the magus' plan, so holds off using his gloves for the moment. I can't really do anything with this behemoth next to me. It will batter me to a bloody pulp if I try to move or use a wand! At least Flynn is stable for the moment.

To clarify, Zaarah is currently invisible and Fendel's see invisibility expired during the roast boar. Also, @Fendel, don't forget that you currently have 1 negative level (which applies a -1 penalty on all ability checks, attack rolls, combat maneuver checks, Combat Maneuver Defense, saving throws, and skill checks and reduces your caster level for all spellcasting classes by 1.
"Oi! You see that flash?" One of the archers on the balcony points at Fendel's prone form.
"Yeah, but 'e ain't movin'," another shouts back. "Focus on the big one - the one that looks like he came out of that naked cow's backside!"

The statue stands resolute as Kramac cuts off one arm with his sabre, then the other, and finally lops off its head with a final swipe of his arm! Beak has to settle for biting one of the archers on the wall, but at least this one probably won't dent his beak like the golem would have.
Mvumbu continues to bite at the dead worm, roaring in fury over the death of her companion!

Aw Pickles! I went to COPY/PASTE the BoL and ended up posting in the DISCUSSION tab.
He's just bleeding out. I've done the math. There is simply no way I can get to him in time. The detective feels a moment of disorientation before realizing he is now next to the fallen warrior. Wasting no time, he slams his right hand to Kiboko's chest and invokes the magic within, compelling the hunter's soul to return to its mortal cage for a while longer.

Aw Pickles! I went to COPY/PASTE the BoL and ended up posting in the DISCUSSION tab.
Ah, I was wondering. XD
I assume GM wil be happy to take this roll ^ for the Breath of Life, since this was the first roll for the healing? (pretty please?)
Of course! And I've calculated the healing on the basis of Kiboko using the Buffering Cap against the first critical hit for 19 nonlethal damage.
Zaarah acts quickly, bringing Fendel across the ruined room in the blink of an eye. Ever the professional, the scholar doesn't hesitate to slap Kiboko back to life. The half-orc stirs, and his eyes open.
Exactly the right amount of healing to get Kiboko conscious at 0 hp. Don't forget the negative level from breath of life. It also looks like Kiboko was raging for 3 rounds, so that means 3 rounds of fatigue (one of which passed already).
"Ouch!" one of the archers screams as Beak bites him. "Screw this - I'm outta here!" Several other archers on the southern railing turn tail and flee, some of them jumping down into the courtyard in their haste to escape.
@Beak, Blue and Yellow provoke AoO's from you due to leaving a threatened square. They do not provoke from Kramac due to using Withdraw.

Orange Acrobatics vs DC 15: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

A cry of pain can be heard from the courtyard as one archer lands on a bush and falls flat on his back, but the other two seem to handle the fall with desperate skill. The remaining archers step back and raise their bows. "Who wants turkey for dinner tonight?" one asks cockily, though the slight quiver in his voice betrays his nervousness.

Kiboko stirs on the floor.
"Ugh..."
He sees Fendel lying next to him. "Kiboko thanks you, friend. How goes the fight?"
He hears Kramac and Beak dealing with the archers, and with a clear head he calls upon his magic.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 cast on self :)
"Where is Zaarah? Does Kramac need assistance?"
"Mvumbu!..." With no more than a feeling - a feeling of hostility and desperate vengeance - Kiboko urges his companion to destroy the remaining archers. As she races up the stairs Kiboko reaches into deep reserves of secret magic, and in an instant he, Fendel and the invisible magus are hidden under an opaque brown dome. Yet they can see out of the dome without difficulty.
"Kiboko has reached into the Baglands. We are hidden from those outside. You may come and go as you wish." And Kiboko rolls over and stands up.
Per my post on Discord, the Into the Baglands boon doesn't require an action to activate. I can photograph the chronicle sheet if you'd like to see the boon GM.

"Haaarrrr!!! Haaarrrr!!!"
Mvumbu is filled with joy at Kiboko's recovery, but almost immediately her joy is replaced by a fierce hatred for those who injured her companion. At Kiboko's urging she mounts the stairs and chomps at the nearest archer.

He sees Fendel lying next to him. "Kiboko thanks you, friend. How goes the fight?"
Fendel rolls on to his back. "No need to thank me." He coughs weakly, "As for the fight? We've had better showings. I swear, this was The Convocation all over again." His head lolls to the side and notes the tide turning, "If they're departing, then our total extermination was not the goal. The intent to murder was clear, but I feel there may be a second purpose. Were I a thief, I would say this conflict would serve as an excellent distraction. Some one needs to check on the blade as soon as possible."
With that, he slowly stands and taps himself with a wand.
Infernal Healing. Cannot fail the roll, even on a '1'.
He looks down at his gloves, "Need to find another pair." He then wipes the dust from his neck and chest, "And a new talisman."
| GM Hawthwile |
As Kramac attacks the archers, he notices they don't seem to be bothered by the nearby presence of Beak. Fortunately, the warrior's blows are too fast for them to evade anyway.
With 4d6 sneak attack damage comes Improved Uncanny Dodge. They'll take all the help they can get - especially when that means no AoO madness from Outflank.
Denied his usual advantage from fighting with his trusted companion, Kramac is forced to hit the scallywag twice before the blighter falls to the ground. The half-orc backhands the other archer for good measure before Beak takes a bite, not quite sated from nibbling on one of the fleeing men. Mvumbu's own bite is much larger, but doesn't quite finish off the person she feels responsible for her companion's pain.
@Fendel - remember that infernal healing has a 1-round casting time. Would you prefer to stand and begin casting this round or cast this round (ending at the start of round 7) and remaining prone?
Kiboko's pack swirls before bursting into a strange hemisphere of slowly-shifting brown swirls. Inside, the two Seekers commiserate over their recent-death experiences and slowly begin to treat their wounds. Zaarah invisibly races past them towards the sound of screaming, pushing the body of the fallen worm just far enough to pull the door behind it open.
The scallywags continue to flee - those in the courtyard scurrying through a hole in the shrubbery while those on the balcony jump like lemmings in a children's bedtime story.

The sound of rubble shifting from the south catches Fendel's attention. A few pieces of wood fall to the ground, revealing a transparent dome on the other side with Eliza and six servants within. The strain is evident on the Venture-Captain's face as she slowly opens a rift in the protective bubble and holds it fast while the servants drag a seventh out from underneath broken stonemasonry. "Seekers!" Eliza yells, the polish and grace in her voice from before dinner gone. "Adril! Osprey! Help get the wounded to safety!" As her gaze shifts from Kiboko's sanctuary to the fallen Flyndyngylyn, the color drains from her face. "No...".

"Kiboko will see if it is possible to help Osprey." After casting his healing spell, Kiboko steps over to the worm that ate Osprey, and draws his long lance.
Flyndyngylyn

Flyn slowly lifts his head and swears loudly. "ERASTIL'S ANTLERS! Did I die again? Sure feels like it..."
Getting his bearings and seeing Kramac stand over him with a scroll in hand, he nods gratefully. "Thank you, old friend...how long was I out? How goes the fight? Did we get the Red Raven?"
He'll retrieve his bow (via Quick Draw) with his left hand and then rise, drawing his wand of Mage Armor with his right as he does so. Once back up on his feet, he'll tap himself with his wand...

I was a bit unsure on whether Flyn could draw the wand while rising from the prone position (as part of the move action)...if he can't, he'll stay prone and cast...
Fendel, CSI: Absalom

Quite content to lay down for a round in the shelter (prone and concealed) and activate the wand to get the fast healing going. IN a similar vein, what is your view on Infernal Healing? Some GM's let multiple castings stack, but I have had a few who say it grants Fast Healing 1, and does not stack with itself. Just asking now to clarify. I am just assuming this will not be the last time I suffer an injury over the course of Eyes.
Fendel nods to Kiboko while he still catches his breath. Once he feels the dark magic knitting his wounds closed, he stands and observes the area.
"It seems as if The Society, or at the very least Adril, have come to the attention of the Red Raven. He was dubbed as such due to his iconic cape. There are darker tales of ravens who feasted on his earliest victims, but such stories are difficult to discern from the growing mythology surrounding him. Some view him as nothing more than a rebel, while to many he is an egalitarian folk hero." He looks toward Eliza, "Know you what Adril may have done to draw the attention of such an adversary? Maybe even indirectly? Regardless, the vigilante is renowned throughout Galt for his high-profile heists. The Pale Maiden would clearly be considered as such. The archers are most likely attempting to draw forces away from the facility, allowing easier access for a determined thief."
| GM Hawthwile |
Don't forget to put what you do in a spoiler now that you're not with the rest of the party (unless you immediately rejoin them).
The horde of archers scattered and fleeing, Kramac turns his attention to his fallen friend Flyndyngylyn. Channelling the power stored in a mystical scroll, he closes the archer's wounds enough to bring the elf back to consciousness.
@Flyndyngylyn - picking up a dropped weapon would fall under "Manipulate an Item" rather than "Draw or Sheathe a Weapon" and thus would not be affected by Quick Draw (which states "You can draw a weapon as a free action instead of as a move action"). Also, standing from prone is not a "regular move" (which is a specific use of a Move action). So you could stand from prone and pick up the bow, stand and retrieve the wand, retrieve the wand and cast mage armor, or pick up the bow and retrieve the wand. It sounds like you'd pick option C (wand and cast), but I'd like you to confirm that.
With no easy access for Mvumbu to the courtyard, Kiboko calls her back into his sanctuary before leaving it himself to check on Osprey. As the half-orc speaks, Eliza's face freezes for a second before relaxing as she recognizes his voice. "Kiboko, you're alive!" she says softly. "Are the others in there as well? What even is that... No, now's not the time."
@Fendel - I can't find anything saying whether or not fast healing can stack, so I would default to "you can't stack the same thing from the same source" general rule for the time being to say "No, multiple castings of infernal healing would not provide fast healing greater than 1".
"I'm assuming that's you, Fendel," Eliza continues as the investigator gives his report. "Are any of you in any condition to help here? There are people trapped under the debris and maintaining this barrier requires all my attention if I don't wish to be buried alive - again." The venture-captain tries to be humorous, but the strain in her voice puts that to lie.
As Kiboko approaches the worm, its massive form suddenly begins to twitch. The half-orc raises his lance, then lowers it as a blade of pure fire pierces the thick crimson hide and slices open a large gash. Osprey stumbles through the opening, his clothes scorched as if bathed in acid and his left leg twisted unnaturally. "Who," he snarls, "had the BRILLIANT idea to leave that thing alive!?"

Kramac spots the scallywags fleeing across the meticulously manicured lawn, about halfway to a large hedge wall. The half-orc's keen eyes spot an entrance to whatever lies beyond the hedge - and the flash of a crimson cloak passing through that entrance.
Fendel doesn't find a lot of stones to work with, but with his outstanding engineering expertise he makes the most out of the few he finds amidst the broken plaster and wood. Mvumbu pushes back the larger beams, allowing the two servants to pull themselves free and hobble through the bagland and out the front door.
"Kiboko, we can talk more about your interest in my staff - and your boorish behavior towards them in the stables - after this." Eliza's voice is tense as she carefully steps out of her protective bubble. As soon as she is outside, the abjuration collapses in a pile of rubble and dust. "Where is Adril?"
Meanwhile in the courtyard, Zaarah peers through a crack in the door to see a tall elf with long white hair wearing a fashionable powder-blue silk shirt standing in the middle of the Armory. He wears a rapier at his side and holds the Pale Maiden in his left hand, a wide smile creasing his handsome face from ear to ear. Four human men dressed in red leather armor are spread around the room - one in the corner, one on the other side of the door the invisible magus is peering through, and two menacing a trio of wounded servants of the Woodsedge Lodge clustered near the double doors on the eastern side of the room. Two gnomes in similarly-outlandish attire cavort atop the long tables in the center of the room, cackling as their hands overflow with plundered knick-knacks looted from the room's many magical treasures. As Zaarah yells her warning to Kramac, the elf turns to the doorway. "Was that..." He mutters a few arcane-sounding words and taps two fingers against his forehead, then locks eyes with Zaarah. "...boys, we've got visitors."
The southern doors to the Armory are cracked open only and will require a move action to open before creatures can pass through.

Invoking boon from The Dragon's Demand (3) Friend of the Green First use, two remain.
☐☐☐ Friend of the Green (The Dragon's Demand (3)): Although he was initially skeptical that you could slay Aeteperax, the druid Azmur Kell has professed his gratitude to you for savinh him and his family. He owes you several favors, and you may call in a favor when performing one of the skills below to use Azmur's skill modifier instead of your own as he assists you. Alternatively, Azmur can cast a spell as though he shared your space, though any attacks of opportunity he provokes for spellcasting damage you (they still force him to make a concentration check). Using any of the skill-based or spellcasting favors requires your spending the time or actions to perform the task yourself. You may use the favors listed below in any combination, checking off one box each time you ask for help. When you check the last box, Azmur's debt has been repaid; cross this boon off your Chronicle sheet.

One voice carries over the muffled chorus of swearing and yelling coming from inside the armory - the same one Zaarah heard moments before.
"How convenient! The foolish enemies of the People have provided us the means to dispose of the traitors of the Revolution. Throw them in."
Seconds later, one of the screaming servants suddenly falls silent.

Fendel, CSI: Absalom
|
They had hostages with them?!?! This was more than a heist. They are making a political statement.
Fendel once again calls upon the debt owed to him, and the wounds all but close, leaving cuts and abrasions. He steps to the double doors and throws them open.
Cure Serious: 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (4, 8, 6) + 8 = 26
Second use of Friend of the Green. One remains.
Zaarah Katsu
|
Zaarah hears the command to hurt innocents and is not sure what to do.
Chaldira demands to protect those in need suddenly pushes into her head.
Zaarah 5 ft steps forward to the door. She opens the door.
GM, what does Zaarah see? Standard action depending on result.
Kramac
|
Seeing nothing unexpected in the sky, Kramac returns to the courtyard to plan their assault on the armory. Double move for beak back to where we were. Use the wand again, then move action to put it away.

Kiboko
|
Kiboko begins re-establishing defences on himself and Mvumbu, starting with a Barkskin spell.
Casting Extended Barkskin (via rod) using Improved Spell Sharing to split the duration between Kiboko and Mvumbu: CL9 with negative level accounted for.
"Soon, Mvumbu, soon."
Also take free action to Handle Mvumbu - Defend (Kiboko), bringing her adjacent (could just as readily use Come I suppose, but I consider Defend the default).
| GM Hawthwile |
As her companions continue to gather, Zaarah steps back to the door and pulls it open. The tentacles underneath don't touch the magus herself, but they push and block the door until Zaarah pulls it wide open with all her strength. Inside, the tendrils continue to wrap around the elf and humans - including one masked servant who is barely visible on the ground, motionless save for the forced movements as black tentacles squeeze her unconscious body.

Zaarah is now grappled by the black tentacles and tries to cast an intensified shocking grasp spell.
concentration dc 17 as level 1 spell due to traits: 1d20 + 11 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 11 + 6 = 36
She then delivers the spell on the thug in front of her with her scimitar by spellstriking!

In case one of opponents tries to attack her, she’ll try to parry and riposte.

| GM Hawthwile |
To clarify: the DC for casting a spell while grappled is the grappler's CMB + 10 + spell level. Definitely not a problem for Zaarah this round, but could be in the future.
Speaking of which, let's see how the tentacles do this round...
Black Tentacles CMB to Grapple: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23+5 vs already-grappled opponents
Bludgeoning damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
So Zaarah's not actually grappled this round - though the area is still difficult terrain, even for flying creatures.
The scallywag doesn't know what hit him as he convulses, hair flying and muscles spasming before he slumps to the ground. It's difficult to tell if he's continuing to twitch from lingering electricity or from the writhing mass of tendrils.
Blue Concentration vs DC 30: 1d20 + 14 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 14 + 4 = 35
You're not sure what spell he just cast, but you recognized it as magic.
With a snap of his fingers, the tentacles holding onto the elf slide off him like sauce off penne lisce. As he walks back towards the other side of the room - ignoring the writing black mass beneath his boots - he turns and points at the invisible Zaarah in the doorway. "Whenever you're ready," he drawls, though the intensity with which he glares at Zaarah betrays his ire.
"Righty-o, Big Boss Cale Man!" one of the gnomes cheers as he points a candy-striped rod at the doorway.
Wondrous Effect: 1d100 ⇒ 68
The gnome laughs hysterically, his voice getting higher and higher until Zaarah can't help but notice that he's shrinking at an alarming rate until only the tip of his minuscule hat can be seen above the black tentacles.
Red is now Diminutive - 1 foot tall. XD
The other gnome also laughs hysterically, though his laughter seems focused on the plight of his companion. "Dwale, yer as small as the wee babe you truly are!" he wheezes as he windmills his arms rapidly, releasing a pair of black beads that fly towards the doorway...
Yellow Bead vs Zaarah AC 24: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Miss Chance, 1 = Miss: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Force damage: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 3, 1) = 11
The bead hits the doorframe instead of the invisible Seeker, but as it explodes it knocks Zaarah to the side.
Yellow Bead vs Zaarah AC 24: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Miss Chance, 1 = Miss: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Force damage: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5, 6, 1) = 18
The second explosion catches the magus by surprise, slamming her head into the doorframe so hard she sees stars for a moment.
"Cut it out Rhis, it's not funny!" squeaks Dwale in an equally-minuscule voice.
Two of the still-living scoundrels continue to try to slip free of the tentacle's grasp...
Dashed Red Escape Artist vs DC 26: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Dashed Yellow Escape Artist vs DC 26: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33
...but only one succeeds. The third grins as he grabs another helpless servant and pushes her into the tentacles. She screams, then falls silent like her companion beside her. The last servant continues to shriek and tries to pull back from the ruffian standing over her.

Kiboko continues bolstering himself and Mvumbu.
Same routine to share an extended spell - this time Greater Magic Fang on our bites (+2 enhancement, duration 9 hours each).
"Are you two just going to stand there gawking?" Kiboko's comments are addressed at the senior pathfinders in the Great Hall. "There's a battle at the armoury."
Petulengro cares nothing for her servants. This whole country makes Kiboko sick!
With a flick of the wrist Kiboko puts a wand in his hand, preparing for further healing.
Will send Mvumbu in next round.
