"Meleeka broke into our vaults, destroying many sacred artifacts in the process." Vixnax frowns, restraining his anger. "What would you say to the rightful owners of those artifacts? Besides, we found magical traps of the evocation school. Were those non-lethal too? We had no reason to trust Meleeka wouldn't kill us, we acted on self defense."
Vixnax was uncomfortable. It is true we didn't have to kill anyone, but would they have afforded the same luxury to us?
"I'm sorry about the fate of your brother. I can't go back in time to fix it, but I can offer you a safe place within the society. Even though you might hate us, we can train you, give you work. Who knows, maybe you'll see our point of view eventually."
Vixnax gets up and extends a hand to the woman. "Now, show me some of your moves, it might help you feel better."
The disciple looks down. "She didn't tell me that... but we acted in self defense too. Think about it. You come in to steal something. We were only hoping to stop you from taking it. And most places have security measures. I'm sure your society has similar means of protection.". The disciple slinks down. "If you were more upfront about what you wanted, no one would have died. We could have talked it out."
She's exhausted, but continues talking. "That's the way of the Unforgiving Fire. We were taught to be aggressive and unforgiving to intruders. But none of us, even Meleeka, would have killed you. We are a monastery that focuses on the offensive... not a death cult. What were we supposed to do? We had to stop you one way or another from taking something that belongs to us."
The woman slowly gets up and silently starts showing Vixnax some poses. Her moves are half-hearted and she's barely able to hold on without crying.
By this time, the Obsidian Owl reaches Niswan and the Pathfinders meet with Venture-Captain Melipdra. She sees the One-Who-Waits. "We can leverage your success to preserve the agreement between the monastery and the Pathfinder Society!". She hands each of you a bag of rough-cut garnets for a job well done.

No, you didn't have to stop us one way or another. But you did try, and the other happened. As Vixnax mentioned, we will soon introduce you to someone who claimed rights to these objects before Maleeka. I suggest you take this as a learning moment, because if you persist with your current thought pattern, and with your demonstrated judge of others' character, you will be used up and killed by the next con, in monks clothes or no.
