Our mischievous ysoki hero then goes to inspect the staircase, perking up his ear to see if he can catch anything carried by the air currents...

Torra moves over to Scratch to tend to his puncture wounds from the basilisk's bite, shaking her head at Bangy's mischief.

Utek nods at Bangy. "I'm not as sneaky as you, ysoki-man. Take the lead and I will follow... after everyone is healed up of course."

Torra intends to stay at the back of the line.

Urdda raises an eyebrow as Bangy tries to sneak off, but doesn't say anything as he frees his hard-won boggard captive.

I don't think there's any cover for Bangy to Hide with - at least not from Urdda. XD

Scratch lets Torra fix him up, he knows full well by now she's a far better doctor than he'll ever be. "Don't tie that too tight, gotta have space fer these muscles ta flex ya know.." He makes a show of things but feels rejuvenated.

Loaded crossbow in hand, Scratch skulks after the rat, not caring about the released prisoner.

Bangy releases the boggard who ends up fleeing for a safe space to hide in. near the stairs Urdda notices something out of place and stops Bangy in his tracks. You notice a few small darts stuck into the stairs. They appear to be poisonous darts fired from a nearby trap.

Did we also find out about the effect of basilisk blood?

"Thanks Urdda"

Bangy pulls out his picks and tries to disable the firing mechanism.

"Stand back!"

Oooh, yes, can't we use the blood to reanimate that first statue we found that was completely intact? And didn't one boggard become stone, so that one, too?

Oh yes, apologies. You would certainly know about that. A creature petrified in this manner that is coated (not just splashed) with fresh basilisk blood (taken from a basilisk that has been dead no longer than 1 hour) is instantly restored to flesh. A single basilisk contains enough blood to coat 1d3 ⇒ 2 Medium creatures in this manner.

Bangy finds a control panel build into the side of the wall and masterfully disables the nearby poisonous dart gallery that surely would have riddled anyone climbing the stairs.

Utek nods at Bangy. "Thanks ysoki-man. You saved us! I know I would have surely fallen for that trap." Utek bows at Bangy.

"See anything else up ahead?"

Torra will make sure to use one of the basilisks to restore the boggard and the statue we found in the first room.

From what was said about the statues found in the room with the basilisks, are any able to be safely restored without missing essential pieces, since we have two basilisk bodies, so up to 4 total?

"You can bath the stoned in these lizard's blood n they'll wake up fine n dandy?" He ponders the looks on the faces of the 'Leaf' druids when they all wake up clear headed for once.

"Alright, lets get to it then Torra." He helps search up any stoned forms. "Let's not use up all the blood too quick though, dunno what we might find in the rest of this place.. no offense to that bullfrog there n all.."

Certainly don't want to be too hasty in using them all up, but yes, we are on a time limit.

You could probably wake the boggard that was recently petrified, but otherwise it looks like the rest of the statues have some pieces missing throughout where they have been chewed on.

At the top you find the upper landing. This oddly shaped landing has stairs descending to the south, a narrow door with a small window in it to the north, and a grand double door to the east. The double door bears a carving of a sunburst with rays pushing away storm clouds. An irregular alcove near the doors has a small stone table bearing an open chest.

The basilisk's blood is only good for one hour, though. Wasn't the statue of a woman at the entrance complete? That's probably the only one we can revive. It is only a couple of rooms away, just around the corner.

Yes she was mostly intact, back at the entrance.

Bangy Piper looks down the stairwell, then back at Torra "Should we revive the statue before proceeding?"

Renthiel nods smartly, "It would give us a better sense of a time frame on how long they've been here.

"Yeah. Let's do it. If we wait longer, then we may not be able to do it." Utek nods.

You quickly gather as much blood as you can and head back down to the entrance. Using your hands you generously smear it across the statue's surface.

After a few minutes the stone begins to soften to a clay as it peels away from the body of the woman. She collapses to the ground in a heap, her muscles having not worked for some time. She looks up at you with a tear-filled face as she seems scared. "Who are you?"

"Bangy Piper!" the ysoki proudly introduces himself "That's Utek Shul'm, Renthiel Simnan, Torra Shest, Scratch Steeltoe, and Grama Urdda" going around the room.

"What's your name?"

"C..Clara." She looks around with a bit of confusion. "What happened? Am I still in the Archive of the Sun?"

"You were Stoned"

"We covered you in Basilisk's blood"

"You are still in the Archive of the Sun, yes"

"Are you hungry?" grabbing some bits of cheese and other snack, he hands Clara some, then gives her a moment to regain her bearing on her new situation. Freerat jumps out of his other pocket, runs up to her and sniffs her, then runs back into his pocket. Bangy decides to have a couple of nibbles himself here too.

On a hunch "Are you a Pillar-Watcher?"

Renthiel stays back, looking curiously at the woman.

Scratch gives the woman a head nod as he wipes the last of the blood off on the wall "We're here ta break a curse... what brings you here?" He tries to get a bead on her, wondering if she looks like she's from these times or a long time ago.

"I..I don't remember. I was passing by here, it had to be a few months ago." She seems a bit muddled by the process. "I locked eyes with something through the door and next thing I remember is waking up to you."

"Clara," Renthiel says gently, "Why were you here?"

She begins to cry a bit. "I don't remember. I wasn't coming here. I was just passing by on the way home." She sniffles a bit, wiping her nose.

Utek approaches her with his arms wide open. "Here, here. Things are better now. You can go home now.". He'll give her a hug (if she wants one).

Bangy Piper watches Scratch Steeltoe think.

He is unsure if she is just ignoring his question out of wanting to hide something, or simply befuddled after having been petrified for months, or both.

He paces as his party finishes asking their questions, and will insist they get back to the stairwell if he doesn't suspect anything about her "on my way home" story...

Bangy seems to believe this woman is telling the truth and also seems a bit befuddled. She doesn't seem to know much about what has been happening over the last few months. Utek's comforts seem to calm her down a bit.

Where to at the top of the stairwell?

Scratch nods at the woman, wondering if she know just how lucky she is they happened by to free her. "Here, take this fresh lizard meat home and cook up a feast. I'm sure you're family will be excited to see you!" With that he gives her a half bow and heads back towards the stairs.

Crossbow in hand he sneaks up into a nearby doorway to survey the eastern room, and listen to the doorway at his back. Don't go tryin' ta be no Leeroy up in here. Urrda will only give you guff fer bein' a nummah!

With the stairwell un-trapped, Bangy points his bow down the hall while he walks forward...

"Wait! Before you go...." Utek chants a quick spell in orcish.

Cast Guidance on Bangy, just in case anything happens within the next 6 seconds.

Then Utek consults with Mita. "Let's see if anything magical pops out at us."

After encouraging the un-petrified woman to report back to the council after recovering at home, Torra follows the rest up the staircase, wary about any more suprises.

Clara profusely thanks you as she definitely realizes how fortunate she is. Not wanting anymore surprises you make your way up the stairs and check out the room to the north. The door to this room has a small opening at eye level to a human, similar to the entry guard room. It was also used as a guard room, but contains nothing other than a stone bench.

"Gimma a boost" Bangy beckons Scratch, hoping to use the dwarf to elevate his eyes to "human" level...

Utek groans, walks up to the door, and gets down on all fours so that Bangy can jump up and get a view.

The door with the small opening at eye level was on the one you just opened to the north.

This wide, arcing room has a double door leading west and two double doors leading east; all of the doors bear a large sunburst symbol. The southern double doors on the east wall have been knocked off their hinges and lie askew on the floor. Against the north wall, an elaborate wooden chair balances atop a wooden chest, which itself balances atop a stone shelf that’s been knocked over to serve as a base. The chair is festooned with large leaves and reeds to give it a more ostentatious and dramatic appearance.

This is the “throne room” of Croakchief Globblit, although he’s had to manufacture his throne from things found in the Archive of the Sun or stolen from nearby residences. Globblit is remarkably fat and has a discolored splotch the rough shape of a dragonfly atop his round head—a sign, he insists, of Gogunta’s favor and his divine mandate to lead.

Croakchirf looks over as four boggards grovel at his feet. He croaks. "Smash them, Croakchief show you how!" He grabs a large spiked greatclub in both hands as the boggards leap to their feet.

All four boggards leap up and quickly scatter about the room to give Croakchief some room. Croakchief leaps at the door and thrists the end of his club into Bangy's chest.

Urdda sighs and marches past the boggarts to block the doorway with Bangy. ”Might want to cut that out,” she rumbles, plucking the chieftain’s tongue like a lute string as she settles into her defensive position. Spinning around quickly, she punches twice at the boggart behind her.

Renthiel, hearing the action, rushes up the stairs, into the room and stabs at the nearest boggard (green).

Torra sends a slight tingling pulse through the boggards ranks.

Croakchief's breastplate makes him quite susceptible to this jolt as he croaks in pain, his joints all locking up at once. Renethiel rushes up the stairs and stabs the closest boggard in the side with his rapier.

Urdda teaches the Boggard chief a real quick life lesson as she grabs ahold of that tongue and begins to pull it in all directions, stretching it to its limit. Bangy has one heck or a retort but unfortunately his incisors bounce off of the much thicker breastplate as it gets in his way.

Scratch wakes up and dusts off some fish scales from his leggings "More over ripe tadpoles, I'm on it!" He levels his crossbow at point blank range into the green boggard's stomach and pulls the trigger before quickly reloading.

one of the Boggards begins to croak which causes the rest to begin croaking in alarm. Their vocal reverberations begin to rise in volume as it bounces off of the walls. Gripping their clubs the boggards get to work on smashing to make their Croakchief proud.

The dwarf then rolls her shoulders and pushes against the boggart like a boulder rolling downhill.

Casting ki strike (which includes a Flurry of Blows) [A], then using Boulder Roll to push the chieftain straight back 5 ft (and moving with him) [AA]. He can resist with an Athletics check against DC 22 (23 if not frightened), but he’ll take 9 damage if he does so unless he critically succeeds at the check.
