Xin-Shalast - Roll20 Map - Tracking Sheet

Seamus checks the doors and tries to open them with a breeze, but all his hot air isn’t enough to budge them. Kast opens the doors with a touch though to reveal an exquisitely decorated chamber containing thick carpeting on the floor, a flickering fireplace along the northern wall, and several large nests of fine furs and cushions. You also find fine soft fur left behind by the residents here and there - though no one is in the chamber at the moment.

Knowledge Nature DC 21:
You face Lamia’s of some kind. Big ones. Not now of course, but likely nearby.

Retired to Taldor?

Moving into the room, Seamus avoids messing with any of the beds. He hated it when folks would go into the attic and mess with his stuff. The least he could do was not mess with someone else's stuff. Instead he moved to the left hand door, asking as he went, "What do you think, start left and go clockwise?" As he asks, he begins to check the door for locks and traps, waiting for someone to join him.

Kast's eyes crinkle, trying to decide if Izo is mocking his twisted left leg, but then realizes, no, no that's not it. Not it at all. They wouldn't do that. He was being sincere.

"Yeah, thanks, Izo. I'm doing my best. Even when it's hard."

"Lamias. You may recall the scent from the belltower of Magnimar, or maybe in the ranger's fort? I think. They are a known minion of Karzoug. Let's be careful."

Not trusting the magics of Lamias, he casts True Seeing, just in case. 16 minutes.

"Left sounds fine, 'Mus," Kast says, moving up to support the local town minstrel.

This foul-smelling abattoir of a room is empty of furniture - it would appear that whatever lives here prefers to use the half-gnawed bodies of previous meals as bedding.

Before you can investigate further however, the southeast door opens! Lamia! You see four Lamia Priestesses.

Knowledge Nature DC 26:
Yeap, Lamia Priestesses. But you knew that. CE Large monstrous humanoid. One question for each five you beat the DC.

Looking beyond the lamia opening the door, you see a decorous room - quite comfortable - thick carpeting covers the floor, while delicate chandeliers hang from the ceiling. Several large nests of furs and cushions lie about the room as with the first room. It looks like they were having tea.

I’m doing a surprise round for both sides as neither of you were aware of the other before the door was opened and are both a little surprised.

Death is a weird thing, the cleric replies.

I've died twice so far. Nobody's fault. It's just always smart to kill the cleric, first. That's just basic combat.

Pausing as the door behind him opens, Seamus sees the Lamia relaxing having a cup of tea. Realizing they are as surprised as he is, he draws his blades as he turns around, wondering if anyone is going to say something, or if the Lamia would invite them to tea.

'Nope, not doing any talking.' Realizing his normally chatty friends had decided to go straight to the stabby-stabby. He paused as Izomandakus and Kast cast spells. Chuckling to himself, it was more casty-casty, cally-cally, now. Realizing he'd let his mind wander as Val rushed to the door before him, Seamus joined her. Knowing he couldn't do as much damage at this angle as the others he at least wanted to provide some sort of distraction. Asking as he went, "Should we step to the sides of the doors and see if they'll come through?" Stabbing at the first enemy as he arrived.

Two iron doors face each other across the room. These barren chambers are nothing more than a guard room that allows observance of two prison cells.

They are currently empty.

Val pours herself a refill on her wine. ”Do you think there were actually no prisoners here or that Karzie let some out to deal with us?”

"The Occlusion Field would have ended whatever prisoner held here. This is probably a reminiscence of a past life for the structure" Izomandakus pushes with his claws the double doors to the north.

Pausing inspecting the ancient jail, Seamus listened as Val and Izomandakus discussed the prison. Realizing Izomandakus was opening the far doors, Seamus hustled that way drawing his blades excited to see what they stumbled upon next.

You head to the north. The thickly carpeted floor of this grand chamber is further strewn with expensive looking throw rugs and exotic furs. A nest of the same lies heaped in the center of the room, under a rotunda like construction atop which a canopy of silks and gauzy veils adds to the chamber’s mystique.

There are a few smaller rooms adjoining the main. North is a shrine dedicated to the esoterica and philosophies of greed - the northern most wall decorated with an enormous gold Sihedron before which sits a rune carved altar. The remaining two rooms are also well appointed bedrooms but are empty of their tenants.

Kast walks through each room with his fancy eyes (true seeing) while he still has time, and with Detect Magic as well.

If there is nothing of interest, he will circle back to what appears to be the only way forward.

"An altar of greed" Izomandrakus also scans the area with his eyes able to peer the invisible and into the ethereal plane "I wonder where Karzoug's followers have hidden themselves..."

Retired to Taldor?

Not upset that they hadn't found more of 'Karzoug's followers' Seamus begins to search the room using more conventional methods. Calling back to Izomandakus as he looked under one of the piles of furs. "Maybe they were all at the tea-party."
