Tavon seems determined to blast the bluish zombie. Direct hit! But it seems the flesh absorbs some of the blow (possibly some sort of DR)

Aatish comes dancing in with her scimitar. She believes that it would hit normally, but the bones of the skeleton are too hard to break through!

And poor Grelthe. Can't seem to do anything to the skeleton either. The bones must be reinforced!

Roomba repositions herself, ready to stab the skeleton. She pokes at it with her hammer, but her strikes just hit the air between the ribs.

Similarly, Andros just can't seem to do anything to the zombie. Must be the tough skin!

The zombie looks up at 1d2 ⇒ 2 the heavily armored Grelthe. With a look of surprise, it holds up his hand and slams it down on the paladin. She hears a *snap* as bones break in its hand but she feels absolutely nothing on her end!

The skeleton attempts to parry Roomba with its scimitar! But the weapon is old and Roomba can quickly dodge out of the way of its attack. But surprise! The skeleton swipes with its left hand. Roomba sees it and dodges it too!

Then Rachel moves in and nocks another arrow. She pulls back her string and lets the arrow fly. Direct hit! Chucks of zombie flesh fly off, but doesn't seem to be as effective (possible DR)

Then the zombie turns to Andros and slams down his broken hand. It stuns the cleric, hurting him quite a lot! 8 points of damage.

Grelthe realizes that bludgeoning weapons and piercing weapons aren't very effective versus the zombie, seeing both Andros and Rachel's weapons do very little. So she switches to a different type: a slashing weapon. She swoops in and swings her sword! Very effective! The zombie goes down.

What's happening to the other undead? Aatish keeps swinging her scimitar and knocks some bones off, but probably not as effective as it could be.

Tavon moves towards the door. He hears a *twang* then a *thwap* as an arrow jams itself into his behind. Tavon takes 4 points of damage. Turning around, Tavon sees a small hole where the arrow came out of - likely a trap that triggered right when he opened the door. Inspecting this 'trap' reveals that one has to manually insert the arrow to reset it. So as long as no one re-inserts the arrow, the trap wont trigger again.

Opening the door further, Tavon sees... something blocking it. Seems like a tapestry or thick draperies. Moving it aside, Tavon finds an undisturbed thick layer of dust that carpets the floor. A stone door to the west is one solid featureless piece except for a strangely shaped depression in the middle.

Another set of stone double doors are in the southeast corner of the room.

The Pathfinders decide to backtrack to pick up the rune that may fit into the hole.

They pass through the secret door past the skeleton bones lying on the ground. Heading north, they see the pile of corpses where they fought the crawling hands. Further north, the silent and ominous pillar stands tall with the corpses of the two festrogs starting to reek. Then they head west. Past the bottomless pit. Taking a left before the intricate stone door in the most northwestern part of the temple. Then they arrive back at the room where they fought the rune guardians. 1d5 ⇒ 5 Tavon picks up the small rune and puts it in his pouch.

Roomba suggests heading right back to where they were. Once back, she takes a brief glance to the northern hallway. She pokes her head around the corner, spying a small corridor to the east and a room directly ahead. Then she quickly rejoins the others.

Tavon inserts the rune into the depression between the two doors. Suddenly, the stone changes to a rippling mass of flesh. Moments later, a bloody wound opens in the middle of the fleshy mass as the doors pull themselves apart to allow egress into the neighboring room. It automatically opens up for anyone waiting in front of it.

Peering in, a large statue stands in the corner of the L-shaped room, depicting a tall feather emblazoned with a large open eye. Though apparently carved from stone, the statue gleams with a golden-green iridescence.

DC 20 Knowledge (religion):
The room is a shrine to a mysterious and esoteric god of ancient Thassilon known as the Peacock Spirit, a god of mind, body, and soul, whose worship ended with the empire's fall.

If you move into the western part of the room:
Carved into the floor between the western door and the statue is the following inscription: "Though veiled behind the plumage of the soul, the Eye still sees, unblinking, through all the ages from the beginning to the end of time.
