Aatish e Khorshid |
Aatish moves forward and strikes the undead with her scimitar!
red. Cold Iron Scimitar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 161d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Tavon Kroft |
Tavon enters the room and shoots with his water blast the Blue one.
water blast - B. and magic - Precise Shot: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
damage: 1d6 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 5 = 7
Grelthe, the singing Paladin |
Grelthe will step up between the baddies and attempt to make herself a target by swinging at the skeleton (red) with her Morningstar.
Morningstar attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 *whiff*
Morningstar damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
GM Mauve |
Tavon seems determined to blast the bluish zombie. Direct hit! But it seems the flesh absorbs some of the blow (possibly some sort of DR)
Aatish comes dancing in with her scimitar. She believes that it would hit normally, but the bones of the skeleton are too hard to break through!
And poor Grelthe. Can't seem to do anything to the skeleton either. The bones must be reinforced!

Round 2
Andros
Roomba
Zombie (blue) (-3 HP)
Skeleton (red)
Tavon
Aatish
Grelthe
Rachel
Andros and Roomba are up!
Roomba |
Roomba steps in flanking position and tries to attack red.
alchemical silver light hammer, flank: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 2 = 9
silver bludgeoning dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 2
GM Mauve |
Roomba repositions herself, ready to stab the skeleton. She pokes at it with her hammer, but her strikes just hit the air between the ribs.
Similarly, Andros just can't seem to do anything to the zombie. Must be the tough skin!
?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
?: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
?: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
?: 1d6 ⇒ 1
?: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (1) - 3 = -2
?: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The zombie looks up at 1d2 ⇒ 2 the heavily armored Grelthe. With a look of surprise, it holds up his hand and slams it down on the paladin. She hears a *snap* as bones break in its hand but she feels absolutely nothing on her end!
The skeleton attempts to parry Roomba with its scimitar! But the weapon is old and Roomba can quickly dodge out of the way of its attack. But surprise! The skeleton swipes with its left hand. Roomba sees it and dodges it too!
Then Rachel moves in and nocks another arrow. She pulls back her string and lets the arrow fly. Direct hit! Chucks of zombie flesh fly off, but doesn't seem to be as effective (possible DR)

Round 2
Andros
Roomba
Zombie (blue) (-9 HP)
Skeleton (red)
Tavon
Aatish
Grelthe
Rachel
Tavon, Aatish, and Grelthe are up!
Grelthe, the singing Paladin |
Grelthe grunts, sees the fleshy zombie is looking a bit worse for the wear, but knows her bashing weapon is more likely to do damage to a skeleton than a zombie, so she will reposition her grip with both hands and try again.
Morningstar 2-h attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 *whiff*
She curses in Skald.
Aatish e Khorshid |
Aatish strikes the undead with her scimitar!
red. Cold Iron Scimitar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 111d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
“What are these things? What’s that green light?!?“
Tavon Kroft |
Tavon shoot the red.
water blast - B. and magic - Precise Shot: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
damage: 1d6 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 5 = 9
Roomba |
Roomba tries to attack red.
alchemical silver light hammer, flank: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6
silver bludgeoning dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 1
GM Mauve |
?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

?: 1d6 ⇒ 1
?: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (2) - 3 = -1
?: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
For some reason, the Pathfinders just can't hit the undead! That is, until Andros comes up. He swings and hits the zombie hard! But the soft zombie flesh absorbs the blow (DR of some kind possibly?).
Then the zombie turns to Andros and slams down his broken hand. It stuns the cleric, hurting him quite a lot! 8 points of damage.
The skeleton on the other hand is hilarious in its attempt to fight Roomba. Rachel giggles a bit as she watches. The skeleton is so incompetent!
=============
Round 3
Andros (4/12 HP)
Roomba
Zombie (blue) (-9 HP)
Skeleton (red)
Tavon
Aatish
Grelthe
Rachel
Andros and Roomba are up!
Aatish e Khorshid |
Again, Aatish strikes the undead with her scimitar!
red. Cold Iron Scimitar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 211d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Grelthe, the singing Paladin |
Grelthe is getting frustrated trying to swing at the skeleton, but so far it hasn't hurt anyone, so she will switch to the zombie and switch to her...
weapon: 1d2 ⇒ 1
...longsword to aim at the zombie. (She doesn't know what type of damage will get through his DR, but knows it's probably not bludgeoning.)
Longsword 2-h attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Longsword 2-h damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
GM Mauve |
Grelthe realizes that bludgeoning weapons and piercing weapons aren't very effective versus the zombie, seeing both Andros and Rachel's weapons do very little. So she switches to a different type: a slashing weapon. She swoops in and swings her sword! Very effective! The zombie goes down.
What's happening to the other undead? Aatish keeps swinging her scimitar and knocks some bones off, but probably not as effective as it could be.
=============
Round 3
Andros (4/12 HP)
Roomba
Zombie (blue)
Skeleton (red) (-1 HP)
Tavon
Aatish
Grelthe
Rachel
Tavon is up followed by Andros and Roomba
Grelthe, the singing Paladin |
Grelthe roars in triumph at FINALLY hitting something!
Roomba |
Roomba attacks red.
alchemical silver light hammer, flank: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6
silver bludgeoning dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Tavon Kroft |
Tavon shoots water in red.
water blast - B. and magic - Precise Shot: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 5 = 7
crit: 1d6 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 5 = 10
GM Mauve |
And Tavon blasts the skeleton! Bones shatter all over, covering Aatish in bone dust.
Combat is over!
The Pathfinders search the bodies, but don't really find anything informative. Whatever the glowing green light was, it has faded. But it did feel alchemical in nature.
There is also a wooden door to the south.
There is a hidden arrow trap in the wall to the west of the door. If someone were to open the door from the other side (the unexplored room), it seems like it would fire at whoever opened it.
Andros Therinor |
Andros activates his wand on himself.
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Good work...those eerie green lights must have been some sort of alchemical enchantment of some sort...similar to what an alchemist uses for their mixes...
perc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Grelthe, the singing Paladin |
Grelthe has no experience with this "alchemical" stuff and it makes her wary.
perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18 Hey it coulda been a 20, lol
GM Mauve |
?: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21
?: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Tavon moves towards the door. He hears a *twang* then a *thwap* as an arrow jams itself into his behind. Tavon takes 4 points of damage. Turning around, Tavon sees a small hole where the arrow came out of - likely a trap that triggered right when he opened the door. Inspecting this 'trap' reveals that one has to manually insert the arrow to reset it. So as long as no one re-inserts the arrow, the trap wont trigger again.
Opening the door further, Tavon sees... something blocking it. Seems like a tapestry or thick draperies. Moving it aside, Tavon finds an undisturbed thick layer of dust that carpets the floor. A stone door to the west is one solid featureless piece except for a strangely shaped depression in the middle.
Another set of stone double doors are in the southeast corner of the room.
Grelthe, the singing Paladin |
Grelthe moves into the tapestried room, and inspects the depression in the west door. Can I tell what type of shape it is at all?
perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10 perfectly average
Tavon Kroft |
Tavon looks closer.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
"In another room is a non-magical rune that was shaped in the exact pattern of the depression. "
Roomba |
Roomba scouts out the north passage in the meantime, saying "I shall stand guard for thee while you inspect this rune and discuss the way forward."
She then steps around the corner, walk a few steps, and stops before the next turn, peering north.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Roomba |
To be clear, we should keep the party together. Roomba's placement is just for the present situation. She will rejoin the group if they backtrack to the northwest. I both played and GMed this before, so I am staying nice and quiet! :)
Grelthe, the singing Paladin |
Grelthe is a fan of staying together as well, even if it means backtracking.
GM Mauve |
The Pathfinders decide to backtrack to pick up the rune that may fit into the hole.
They pass through the secret door past the skeleton bones lying on the ground. Heading north, they see the pile of corpses where they fought the crawling hands. Further north, the silent and ominous pillar stands tall with the corpses of the two festrogs starting to reek. Then they head west. Past the bottomless pit. Taking a left before the intricate stone door in the most northwestern part of the temple. Then they arrive back at the room where they fought the rune guardians. 1d5 ⇒ 5 Tavon picks up the small rune and puts it in his pouch.
There are other unexplored rooms up here. Do you want to explore them or head back to where you were?
Roomba |
Head back where we were please.
GM Mauve |
Roomba suggests heading right back to where they were. Once back, she takes a brief glance to the northern hallway. She pokes her head around the corner, spying a small corridor to the east and a room directly ahead. Then she quickly rejoins the others.
Tavon inserts the rune into the depression between the two doors. Suddenly, the stone changes to a rippling mass of flesh. Moments later, a bloody wound opens in the middle of the fleshy mass as the doors pull themselves apart to allow egress into the neighboring room. It automatically opens up for anyone waiting in front of it.
Peering in, a large statue stands in the corner of the L-shaped room, depicting a tall feather emblazoned with a large open eye. Though apparently carved from stone, the statue gleams with a golden-green iridescence.
