Grelthe, the singing Paladin
|
Grelthe agrees with Tavon (notated on the map). Then she suggests working our way down that hallway.
| GM Mauve |
Both Tavon and Grelthe suggest heading to an unexplored room nearby. Grelthe leads the way and opens the door. The smooth floor and ceiling of this circular room have been polished to a glossy shine, and the curving walls appear to be made of a faintly silver reflective material as smooth and flawless as glass.
The hair on your body stands on end.
[spoiler=If you approach within 1 inch of the walls]
You feel a tingling sensation in the limbs or body.
Does anyone go in? If so, how long do you stay in here?
Andros Therinor
|
Andros will move in and check out the walls.
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
I am not sure what this is...be careful... Andros says as he touches the wall.
There is a rhythm...odd...I cannot make sense of it...
Grelthe, the singing Paladin
|
Grelthe is kinda dumb so she will absolutely go in and move her hand towards the wall to poke it - but the strange vibrations gives her the heebie jeebies and she doesn't at the last moment. Once Andros touches it and appears to be fine though - she will try again to experience what he is talking about. She wouldn't stay very long though, (maybe less than a minute) if the room appears to be empty and she can't figure out the weirdness. (Unless it's a pleasant good-vibes tingling - I'm just assuming ominous tingling)
Roomba

Roomba follows her Pathfinder colleagues.

| GM Mauve |
Rachel joins in as well. Once all the Pathfinders are in, after about 30 seconds, the deep vibration in the walls rises in a crescendo until an audible hum fills the entire room. At the same time, the curving walls seem to move, rotating faster and faster around the circumference of the room. After 6 seconds, the hum dies down and the walls stop spinning, with no apparent aftereffect.
Everything seems... normal? But something does feel a bit off. Exiting the room, the Pathfinders realize that they aren't in the room they entered, but in the room right across from it they entered the north room but exited the south room.
You realize something has changed about yourself. Perhaps you were always right handed, but now you feel as though your left hand is dominant. A sword worn on your right hip is now on the left. You even feel your heart beat on the right side of your body instead of the left. Seems that your whole body has been mirrored!
Where do you go now?

perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6
Grelthe doesn't notice any difference, but she knows she isn't the most observant so will listen/believe to her companions, and follow Tavon to reverse it.
"Maybe there is some puzzle here that only works when everything is reversed? Otherwise what is the point? Why have the room at all? Very odd."
Grelthe, the singing Paladin

| GM Mauve |
Heading east, the Pathfinders find a chamber. The long chamber is decorated with large carvings of religious ceremonies and priests handing down judgments to the common people. Stone benches are lined up before a podium at the southern end of the room. A single door stands in the northeastern wall.
And in this chamber, everyone sees a flying head with wings repeatedly bash it's head against the door. The Pathfinders approach and it seemingly doesn't notice... until Tavon trips over Roomba and both yelp out. The flying head turns, sees the Pathfinders, and flies in to attack.
Upon closer look, the flapping head has tattered bat rings, hanging on like a thread. It can barely hold its rotting head aloft but its teeth look extra sharp. Picture here

Morningstar 1-h attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Morningstar 1-h damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
| GM Mauve |
Grelthe has heard of these creatures before. It looks like a vargouille, but zombified! It is a shadow of its former self though and probably doesn't have typical vargouille abilities. Instead, it seems to be unnaturally fast.
This 'flapping head' has an ability called quick strikes where it can slam more than once when taking a full round action.
Andros tosses a bolt of flame at this creature! Direct hit! Tavon joins in with a blast of water. Another hit. The superheated water seems to really affect this creature!
While it's still in a state of shock from the attack, Grelthe moves in and slams down her morningstar. It splashes under the weight of her weapon. Dead!
The door right next to Grelthe has a few dents in it from the flapping head ramming into it. The paladin tries the strong wooden door. Unlocked, but something seems to be barricading the other side.
The door can either be damaged or broken open.
Grelthe, the singing Paladin
|
Before busting the door down, Grelthe will try calling out to see if anyone is on the other side of the door. "Hello! The flying monster head is no longer a threat, we have killed it - it is safe for you to come out now." If after a moment, so one responds, then she will warn them "OK well we are going to finish breaking this door down - please stand back if you can."
STR check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 yeah that isn't gonna work
She tries breaking down the door with her morningstar instead.
Morningstar 2-h power attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Grelthe flushes dark green at missing the inanimate door TWICE and takes more time to line up her shot the 2nd/3rd time as she starts humming to herself full-round action to line up a shot = automatic hit with a melee weapon
Morningstar 2-h power attack damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 multiple times if necessary
| GM Mauve |
As soon as Andros smashes down the door, the room goes dark. Only Grelthe, Roomba, and Aatish see a creature run towards you. It tries to slide underneath Grelthe between her legs, but hits her massive, tree trunk-like legs. It looks up at Grelthe, gulps, then tries to slide by Andros. But between the two Pathfinders, they block the entrance and it cannot sneak by.
Andros, Rachel, and Tavon cannot see in this darkness that is seems magical.

| GM Mauve |
The creature, covered in black rags with only its white nose visible, doesn't seem to understand any of you. Seeing as it can't escape, it utters something in a language none of you understand then backs into a corner, holding its dagger high. It seems scared of you, but does not attack first.
Remember, Tavon, Andros, and Rachel cannot see in the dark. Light does not seem to work. If any of you three attack, it gains total concealment (50% miss chance. 51-100 hits). Aatish, Roomba, and Grelthe have darkvision and can see the creature normally

Grelthe will not injure it, and instructs her companions that it is frightened and not a threat, probably. She takes the turn to describe it to her blinded companions hoping that lets someone else identify it? while getting out a piece of ration, ripping it in half.

Will assume Aatish holds her turn.
The creature looks cautiously at Grelthe and Tavon but sees no way out. It holds up his dagger in self defense and slowly makes it way to the door on the other side of the room, putting its other hand on the door knob.

And it slides right underneath Andros's legs. It huffs and puffs as it runs down the hall, away from the room and the Pathfinders.
Grelthe, Andros, and Aatish all get AOOs if they want to take one.
Aatish's spell goes off. The creature stumbles for a second, before recovering and starts running down the hall further away.

So that's fine, Grelthe will just let it go because she doesn't have a weapon out anyway right now
