Relevant rules text for inhalation poisons:
A creature can attempt to hold its breath while inside the area to avoid inhaling the toxin. A creature holding its breath receives a 50% chance of not having to make a Fortitude save each round. See the rules for holding your breath and suffocation. If a creature is holding its breath and fails the constitution check to continue doing so, rather than suffocating it begins to breathe normally again (and is subject to the effects of the inhaled poison if still in the area).

So that mirror image did a lot more than keeping Ejtehah conscious - it changed the rest of the dice rolls so a SECOND person didn't drop unconscious this turn as well (Robella's 18 was going to be the first hit on Salmok instead)! :D I was very worried for you for a moment.

GM Khouri |

Also I've been missing a fairly big rule about mounts - according to the rules for the Ride skill, I am pretty sure @Ejtehah should have been making a DC5 Ride check to not fall off whenever he takes damage this whole time. I guess because it's such a low check, most of the time you don't need to roll if you're trained, but Ejtehah isn't.
The military saddle counts for that too though.
(-1 DEX, -8 AC penalty, +2 saddle = total -7) Check my math please
So as long as you roll higher than a 12, you're fine.
Stay in Saddle: You can react instantly to try to avoid falling when your mount rears or bolts unexpectedly or when you take damage. This usage does not take an action.
Since we haven't been playing this way, I'll give you a free dismount if you would rather do that instead?

GM Khouri |

Sorry @Ejtehah I just noticed that we forgot about the dog's damage from the swarm earlier. So he would actually be down *7* damage right now.

![]() |

Yes exactly!

![]() |

Question: is this a level 1 adventure? I find it very challenging to be honest... not only the investigation part is brutal for a bunch of level 1 characters with next to no resources, but this final dungeon is not only filled with rogues, but a swarm and now an ALCHEMIST! this is brutal...

![]() |

We’re gonna survive!! :-)
But yeah... it’s tough!

![]() |

I love the challenge!! :-D In normal PFS adventures you rarely feel the danger of the death!

GM Khouri |

Surprisingly, it *IS* a level 1 adventure.
You guys have been lucky so far in that none of the Rogues you've fought previous were able to flank to get their sneak attacks off. Also it is very uncommon to pull (basically) the whole dungeon at once - Also Robella is a completely optional encounter - you only fight her if someone gets away to warn her.
But yeah, this last combat is brutal! I agree. And what a complex mix of abilites/rules as well - definitely challenging. Also you guys triggered some stuff neither of my other playthroughs had to deal with so you got the FULL experience, LOL

![]() |

Here I thought I could just Bluff my way in retrieving the evidence... now I'm wearing the full-on Borvius foam suit!

GM Khouri |

I realize this is a belated question, but is anyone in this group red/green color-blind?

![]() |

Ejtehah does not know what else to do and directs his riding dog to attack!
No idea what I have to do to make it attack. In the riding dog description it says:
Description
Larger dogs (known to Small races like halflings and gnomes as riding dogs) include hardier breeds such as huskies, mastiffs, and wolfhounds. A riding dog can fight while carrying a rider, but the rider cannot also attack unless he or she succeeds on a DC 10 Ride check.
The riding dog bites the woman that hurt him!
Riding Dog Bite : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 231d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Crit confirm : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Trip as successful bite : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

GM Khouri |

I accidentally posted here too, I think that's what he was responding to, sorry for the confusion

![]() |

Ejtehah: can you delay your action after my sleep spell goes off? (i.e. stay outside the pink square on the map!! I don't want you to be caught in the sleep spell!!)

GM Khouri |

He was already in that square last turn, so he have to 5 foot step out this turn

GM Khouri |

HAHAHA I slept for 5 hours (but at least it was a SOLID 5 hours) LET'S GO
@Molvil I don't think you updated your position on the map last round - by my math, I think you would have enough movement to get to the bottom of the rope ladder? (10' into room, 10' x2 for climbing fast = 30')

GM Khouri |

FYI: If anyone's plan is to tie up the unconscious/stunned/asleep people, you will need more rope as I believe you already used what @Nilah cut down - I think @Salmok bought some as well though?
Cutting rope at the top of the catwalk (like Nilah did) gives you 20', though you can also pull rope through the pulleys from the ground.

@Molvil I don't think you updated your position on the map last round - by my math, I think you would have enough movement to get to the bottom of the rope ladder? (10' into room, 10' x2 for climbing fast = 30')
Molvil didn't have enough movement to do any more than enter that room, because she walked out of the offices into the warehouse, saw the swarm covering the trapdoor, and walked back into the offices. I did move her token to right next to the door she was trying.
Anyhoo, onward!
(And here's hoping that you can get a good, solid 8 hours of restful sleep ASAP!)

GM Khouri |

Ah, that makes sense - I missed that, thank you for clarifying. And thank you ME TOO

GM Khouri |

@Ejtehah re:Handle Animal untrained

GM Khouri |

Unfortunately, the paizo forum search function is not currently working properly for me so I can't look it up to verify. Those are the only 2 CLW potions (from Borvius) I can find that you would have picked up from the adventure though. I believe @Magdelina pocketed one, and @Molvil handed one of them to @Ejtehah?
I don't remember what each PC brought with them at the start, but Molvil's profile lists her CLW potions as personal equipment not session equipment, and she bought at least one in-game here.
Also I think @Salmok bought something in town, but maybe I was thinking of him carrying Molvil's rope?

![]() |

You're correct on all the info about Molvil. She currently has two potions of CLW purchased with her own funds, and will hand one to Salmok if he still needs it on her turn.
She's been closing doors behind her after she peeks through them. She hates not knowing things, which is why she's obsessively checking all the doors.

GM Khouri |

A-HA! I found it!
Treasure: If convinced the party is on the right track, Feldane offers the party a wand of cure light wounds (10 charges) if they’re going up against thethieves’ guild.
You DO have a wand of CLW!
I'm sorry I think I actually missed that the first time through and forgot to tell you about it - OOPS

GM Khouri |

USED POTIONS (I can find anyway)
- potion 1 - (Manor fight) personal Molvil stash used on self (before searching Borvius' pockets)
- potion 2 - (Manor fight) personal Molvil stash used to revive Ejtehah (before searching Borvius' pockets)
...THEN 2 potions retrieved from Borvius - given to Magdelina (passed back to Molvil)
(and Ejtehah? never confirmed taking it)
and Molvil bought herself another potion and silk rope.
So the party has access to a total of 3 potions/(2 scenario & 1 personal) and 1 wand with 10 charges.
If the party is good with repaying Molvil's generosity with her personal stash with 1/some of the scenario potions, I'm fine with it too - but up to you all. (Magdelina gave hers to Molvil)

Hello, I just wanted to let everyone know I will be away from access to computers and unable to post this Saturday, 2/27 (all day). I will be back and able to catch up early in the afternoon (US/Pacific time) the next day. Bot me as needed.

GM Khouri |

Thanks for the heads up

GM Khouri |

The skulks have been busy in the background the last few turns - the female one (Onamae what a pretty name) actually came downstairs once before you guys noticed and back up the rope ladder in the spare room (near Molvil at the time), but rolled 3 Natural 20s IN A ROW! Plus the timing worked out well with the doors and stuff too.
Very very sneaky she is.

![]() |

Boy, this would be a lot easier if we were all murder hobos. Oh well. Chaos can be very entertaining.

GM Khouri |

#truth
It's weird the front half encourages nonlethality so much when the back half is so murdery. But I suppose it makes sense who your fighting - random racist villagers or a cadre of hardened thieves & murderers.

GM Khouri |

The game is functionally over, we just have to:
- finish investigating the rest of the thieves guild underground hideout
- roleplay the outro with the Sheriff (& any circus folk you want?)
- and also still make day job (/or faction goals etc) rolls!!
Clockwork Spy:
You recovered a broken clockwork creation, but without extensive repairs it will never function again. You may spend 50 gp to attempt to repair the construct. If you then succeed at a DC 30 Craft (clockwork) or Disable Device check, you may spend an additional 325 gp to restore the clockwork spy to full working condition (see page 58 of Pathfinder RPG Bestiary 3), after which it follows your simple commands. You may take 10 on this check but may not take 20, as the 50 gp is consumed whether or not you succeed at your skill check. You may substitute spending 2 PP for either of these skill checks but must still pay the requisite gold for the repair. The clockwork spy cannot be repaired if it uses its self-destruct ability anytime thereafter. You must bring a copy of Pathfinder RPG Bestiary 3 to any game in which you plan to use the clockwork spy, as if it were available as an additional resource.
I think I may have read somewhere that the Gearwright brothers can help with that check? Can't find it in the module or chronicle sheet now that I'm looking for it - maybe that's represented by the PP cost?
Found it.
Repairing [the clockwork spy] is like constructing it from scratch (and requires the same skills and requirements), but costs half as much. If rescued, the brothers might provide the labor and skill if the PCs can pay for the expensive components. There’s not much time, though; the dwarves want to get back home as soon as they can.

Day Job roll: N/A
Thanks for running this game GM Khouri! this game has been very interesting and detailed! completely different than the first run I had at this many many years ago!

![]() |

Yeah! This was quite fun! Thank you for running this. Will do some roleplay in the morning.
Day Job: N/a

![]() |

No day job.
Thanks for everything!!!

Profession: Professor Talks-a-lot: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
This seems like a scenario that could turn out very differently depending on how different groups approach it. Based on the slides, clearly we didn't go to all the places or meet all the people. Curiosity is nagging me! Thanks for running this one, GM Khouri!

GM Khouri |

Ah, I forgot to uncover the large art for the female skulk and the dwarf brothers is all - you met all the NPCs, only didn't go to Robella's shop.
This group definitely approached things differently than my first 2 parties! You actually triggered a lot more of the things than before.
One big difference I will do in prepping for this next time I run is fleshing out the rest of the villagers a bit more - the only ones mentioned by name are the big bad couple and murder victims. I was completely caught off-guard when you guys wanted to look at Walden's accounting book at the first murder scene - that should have been able to give a clue but since those are the only villagers that exist in the module, there was no way to give a hint without giving away the whole thing.
Also I don't understand the economics of business, so I don't know how accounting books work or what kind of businesses Pawn Shops would have connections with (if that wasn't obvious) lol. More research needed!
It is weird the module mentions the accounting book specifically, but with zero info on what it contains.

GM Khouri |

Chronicle sheets will be posted very soon - please let me know if there is anything (purchases, faction goals, whatever) you would like me to notate.
I have made a note that @Molvil bought a healing potion and silk rope.
Also since this is my first time GMing Society please feel free to give any feedback - here in discussion or private message. If you really want it to be anonymous you can add text to one of the slides too. Please mention any standout good or bad/irritating things you noticed, thanks!
I am going to try to use the Online Support Program, does anyone know if I need to also log the game through Paizo's website?

![]() |

No you just log it on the OSP website. The OSP folks take care of reporting to Paizo and emailing the boons. You'll need everyone's email for the boons. I've PM'ed you mine.
Cheers!

Feedback: You do a great job with the social situations, giving life to the NPCs so that they don't just seem like cardboard cutouts with preassigned lines. I love that in a GM, and it made this scenario truly fun to play.
Combat was messy and long, but in fairness, it's not easy for any GM to track combat neatly when the PCs have scattered to three different locations. I can't blame you for our lack of coordination. :)
Since we were trying to keep track of a bunch of information throughout a long play time, it would've been nice to have a slide dedicated to listing what we'd discovered so far. For a faster-running game with less information, that wouldn't necessarily be useful. It doesn't even have to be filled out by you, but if you provide the template and tell the players to fill it out as they go that should help immensely. Going back and reading all those pages of posts just to find info was prohibitive when I was short on time.
Hope this helps. Overall, I enjoyed the way you ran this scenario and would be happy to play with you again.

GM Khouri |

That is very helpful feedback, thank you!

GM Khouri |

GM Khouri |

I'll give you til the end of the week to give me your emails, then I will put it through the OSP website.
Thanks all, it's been grand! Good luck to you & your characters in future adventures! <3
