Kornel makes his way to the local priest, Lumley.

(I intend to find out if the priest knows who among his flock are the true loyal Razmir fanatics, and who are not quite so.)

Looks like Kornel will be joining Shagrat, so Jayma will go looking for Benyan Horgat, the reputedly wealthiest man in town.

After watching and listening to Sylvina, and looking over her wares, Jayma concludes that, "she seems to be a simple herbalist with minor magical abilities; perhaps a hedgewitch. Seems friendly though." She puts her in the 'maybe' column when it comes to recruiting her as a Pathfinder.

Having satisfied her curiosity concerning Sylvina, Jayma goes up to the counter and with a big smile, addresses the woman. "You have an absolutely delightful little shop here. I will make it a point to return soon, but right now I am in a little bit of a hurry. I am trying to find Benyan Horgat before nightfall. Would you know where I might find him? I've been told that he's a farmer."

Assuming that Sylvina provides directions...

"Thank you very much. Most kind." Then, turning to Meadow and Zabu, she says, "Well. I'll be off now to chat with Mr Horgat," and heads towards the exit, intending to track down the wealthy farmer.

Zabu to Sylvina

"A charm can do nothing if the potential isn't already there. They enhance what the wielder already has, not form what is not there."
She says this all with a sweet smile as she gestures back over to Zabu himself. I will admit though, it is best if you pass them by. In your hands, the effect may be far too potent."

She turns her attention to the healing potions without hesitation and confirms, "oh yes. Everything you find here is something I have crafted myself. It would be a delight to see your lodge patronize my little shop. I'm growing too old to do as much traveling as I once did in my youth and it is wonderful to see my little shop thrive as much as it has. I look forward to helping you as well!"

Kornel and Lumley at the Temple of Razmir

Lumley glares down at the new entrant and takes head of the conversation rather than cede it his guards. "It should be known that services are when the sun rises, not when it sets."

Kornel stumbles into the scene with the goblin pathfinder and the temple guards. "Ah, Shagrat, my friend, I had not realized you were here. Everything is all right, yes?"

He casually strolls around the temple, respectfully but relaxed, eventually acknowledging priest Lumley. "Razmir be blessed, my friend, even in the evening," he offers a customary greeting. "Ah, I did not interrupt anything, did I? I did not have any service in mind, just a few, ah, questions."

"Once our lodge is built, many Pathfinders may find it desirable to convert to the faith of Razmir. It occurred to me that we share a common interest: making these, ah, conversions as smooth as possible. So before we begin our work tomorrow, I thought wise to ask the shepherd of the flock: just how pious is this town, eh?"

Deception, Lie: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

"For example, does anyone stand out as a Razmiri exemplar? Or, any, ah, dissidents, rotten apples, we should watch out for?"

Jayma to Silvina at Knicks and Knacks

Sylvina pauses a moment before offering Jayma the directions providing well wishes as she leaves. "I do wish you the best of luck. I should warn you, he can be harder to deal with this time of the day."

Moving to the farmhouse finds it to be a small affair, although still of greater living area within the hamlet aside from possibly the Inn.

A woman's voice carries through the air, seemingly speaking to herself but loud enough in order to be heard across the village square. "Oh is that one of the nasty children that poured into town? Oh no, even worse, Razmir, thrice blessed be His name, it is a gnome!" She is a large, healthy woman at the edge of a kitchen window is a glass in her hand. She holds one arm on the sill as she screeches inward to her home, even directed away it fills the air like nails across a chalkboard, "MATTHILD! LOCK THE SILVERWARE AWAY! AND BRING ME ANTOHER GLASS OF TEA! AND FIX IT BETTER THIS TIME! THIS LAST ONE WAS HORRID! DO IT NOW!"

As a small voice within the house, far less audible replies a polite and courteous, "Yes, Mistress Gerlind; right away." A female halfling with long brown hair in a single braid can be seen passing by several of the windows as she runs about the house carrying a number of cleaning rags with her.

Gerlind doesn't end her tirade there, she calls out to the fields loudly, but this without the same reverberation of utter contempt as before, "Dear! There is a strange person walking about eyeing our home!"

A short and stocky man garbed in worker's clothing, a well tailored hat covering his bald head, pulls himself from the field and responds, "Aye, I know dear. This is one of the thieves we were told about." He gives a cold glare at Jayma from a distance and demands, "what are you doing coming upon my land?"

Prank War Map

Kornel to Priest Lumley at the Temple of Razmir

"It is wise of you to admit your ignorance. While Mask Narsen holds rank over myself and all others here, this is my village and I have tended to it very well. The piety of my congregation is unmatched. Any dissidents," he proclaims, half gesturing toward Kornel and Shagrat, "have been culled from the flock. People who opposed the government and faith have been removed from my village. Much like how Bladerocks' father and brother had their disloyalty to the government revealed. They have have since been since to a camp to put proper use of their skills to the country. Thus far Bladerock has shown himself to be wiser than his kin. Value to the town does not outweigh heresy." He strongly directs that downward at the pair of Pathfinders.

He gestures outward to the town, filling the temple with his raspy voice. "All the people and families of my village, the Mayars, the Horgats, the Henguses; they all are faithful. If however you find anything improper, I take private confession after morning service."

Kornel:
While it is clear he believes there are no dissidents in the down, he hesitated bringing up the Henguses alongside the faithful other families and their addition was an addition as he spoke rather than a truly loyal family.

Jayma pauses a second, and says, "Ah, I see. Thank you for the warning," before turning to leave.

Despite a sudden urge to send some lightning through the kitchen window, Jayma pretends that she didn't hear any of the screeching coming from the house and continues walking in the man's direction. As she approaches, she puts on a pleasant face and replies, "Aha. You must be Benyan Horgat. It appears that Sylvina's information about you was indeed correct," with no hint of irony.

Once she gets within a safe social distance of the man, she stops and introduces herself. "My name is Jayma. I'm one of the recently arrived Pathfinders that Mask Narsen has undoubtedly told you about. No doubt he also suggested, quite forcefully I suspect, that you make yourselves available to help us in restoring the old fort and converting it into one of our lodges... for a reasonable remuneration, of course."

Jayma now smiles more broadly and continues, "I just wanted to drop by to say hello and to let you know that we start work tomorrow and that your presence will be required bright and early at the fort for a full day's work. That also goes for your wife, um... Gerlind I believe, and your servant, Matthild."

She lets that sink in for a second, before finishing with, "Mask Narsen is most eager for this project to succeed and I do hope that my reports to him will state unequivocally that we received the full cooperation of all the residents of Prophet’s Rest in this endeavor."

With a nod to Horgat and a "Good evening to you," she turns her back and returns to the inn.

Jayma mentally puts both Horgats in the 'not a chance' column when it comes to recruiting them as Pathfinders. The halfling Matthild she puts in the 'maybe' column with Sylvina.

Shagrat is accustomed to prejudiced attitudes, so it doesn't bother him much that the clerics of Razmir give him a hard time.

"Razmir sound like good god. Shagrat think lots of Pathfinders join up later. Maybe Shagrat, too. Shagrat like to take lots of steps. he says.

Maybe Shagrat get to 100 steps. Probably since he a Runelord.

With the clergy calming down a bit, the goblin says "We looking for people to hire to help build Pathfinder base. You know anybody who like to help? If they do, they get paid and then have money to give to Razmir," he offers.

But he has to grin. "Bright and early. There are a lot of rocks to move and garbage to clean up," he calls out to them.

Meadow to Sylvina

Sylvina watches the interaction play out between Meadow and Silence, she only makes a minor move to comfort some of the rodents within her garb as sh keeps a smile. She gives a bit of a chuckle hearing Meadow's dilemma. "I apologize, it is uncommon for someone to make a request for something I can't stock or make." She says this with the minor hope of drawing attention to her purchasable wares. "Years ago one of the children here, before family had to leave that is, asked me the same although that time to help claim a pet rat of their own."

"I have trained many a creature over the years, but typically my own pets, and not anything would would call 'giant.' Still I think I might be able help you with your goal as my time, at least for the near future, is yours for the bargained wage. If you wish to aid with their training, I will offer no complaint."

Meadow claps her hands and excitedly jumps up and down.

"Hooray! Thank you, thank you thank you."

She stops and gets a pensive look on her face.

"We have them hobbled and muzzled for the moment but they need a good place to stay while we train them. They can climb like nobody's business. They're in the keep for now. Do you think that's a safe place for them? Is there somewhere better that we can put them?"

Shagrat to Priest Lumley and Guards at Temple

Priest Lumley radiates distain as he mutters, "not even worthy of approaching, must less one step."

Stepping down from the pulpit he states, "I assure we are available. We have our orders, and unlike others, we respect the hierarchy of the faith. I don't need to like you, but following the demands of Mask Narsen, I shall see your building rise and provide my aid. The coin would be better used as tribute to the Master himself, but I will take it as a meager token payment. You will have your chance to display why Mask Narsen saw fit to trust you."

Aasif fumes but gives a nod agreeing with Narsen's sentiments. Making a silent gesture making it clear that he will be watching the party and threatening to take them out of they step out of line.

Petres shows respect for the Prest and defers to him as he has his say, but declares, "we have our role to perform. While I'm loathe to distract myself from the defense of the temple and our priest, the orders are clear. I will take on your employment as long as required. Let you think your currency can sway me further, know that coin is not what moves me, but the wishes of the church."

The others say their piece, and Rakka moves to settling the logistics that the others are less willing to tackle. "Services will end shortly after sunrise. Should we hold the town here for you to assign tasks or bring them all to the fort after the services conclude? If you already know who you wish to work tomorrow, I can coordinate those groups to save some time. When would you want to handle that?"

Jayma and Zabu to Horgats at the Farmhouse

Gerlind seethes as Jayma addresses him. Gerlind refuses to be quiet the entire affair, constantly ranting how this foriegn commoner is treating her so poorly.

As Jayma and Zabu head off, Gerlind makes certain to make his position clear as he yells out, "don't worry! You will see our full cooperation, but make you bring our full pay as well! My time is worth four-fold anyone else here in town and I will not let me you pay me as some untrained fool!"

He then moves to calm his wife down who is in hysterics demanding her Benyan find a way to resolve the issue and Matthild to provide her drinks to alleviate her suffering.

Meadow and Sylvina at Knicks and Knacks

Sylvina seems amused by Meadows youthful energy and gives a chuckle as it switches back toward worry.

"Please dear, you should calm yourself, else you will burn yourself out quick as you run yourself ragged."

"I assure you the problem is well in hand. I've helped train owlbears with less. A cage may be prudent. There is a excess of lumber we might use to hold them while they rest. Otherwise have Martin, the blacksmith, forge something we could use to help."

She goes over some of the details, helping work out the logistics of what would be necessary to care for the geckos in upcoming days. Offering to sell tea if that would help relax Meadow's temperament while assuring her that the problem isn't anything unfamiliar.

Kornel remains unmoved by the priest's harsh tone, perhaps a bit unnaturally so. Observers like Shagrat or Lumley might get the impression that Kornel either has good composure, or that there's something off about him.

He addresses the practicalities with Rakka the temple guard. "Ah, I am sure we have come up with a project plan by the morning. One of us Pathfinders will inform your people immediately after services, at sunrise. That way we can coordinate a bit better, eh?"

Despite the good-natured facade that she presented to Benyan Horgat, Jayma was seething inside. With Sylvina's warning, she had braced herself for a boorish reception, but nevertheless, the extent of their vileness was astonishing.

What almost pushed her over the edge into violence was how Gerlind had treated Matthild, and the subservience that the halfing had exhibited in response. This had made her flash back to her life in Brastlewark and the many halfling 'servants' in the castle that had catered to their every whim. The mixture of shame and rage that this recollection had welled up in her mind had threatened to overcome her better judgement; she had barely managed to keep her temper in check while speaking to Benyan Horgat.

Zabu "Daggertooth" Creed wrote:

With her teeth clenched, Jayma responds with a barely supressed fury. "That would be going too easy on them, Mr Creed. I intend to make the next couple of weeks the most miserable ones they'll ever experience in their lives."

Jayma returns to the inn having calmed down a little on the walk back from the Horgat farm. There, she finds out that none of the Pathfinders had gone to visit the Hengus's yet. Turning to Bessama (or one of the Mayars if she's not around), she asks, "Excuse me, but it seems that we've missed talking to the Hengus's to let them know that we start work tomorrow. Do you know where I might find them?"

Assuming that they tell her...

Jayma hops off her stool and says, "Well, no time like the present I suppose. I'm off to check in with the Hengus's. Anyone who wishes to join me is more than welcome to do so." She pauses just long enough to throw Zabu a glance, and then heads out of the inn.

Zabu catches Jayma's glance. He holds up one finger in her direction and lifts his freshly poured mug to his lips with the other. He remains in basically that posture as he tilts the mug up and up and up, his adam's apple working rhythmically as he gulps down the contents.

He slaps the mug back onto the bar as he smacks his lips. He flashes the bartender a wink as he hops off the stool.

Jayma and Zabu to Hengus Smithy

Jayma is given direction to the remaining building with life in it, the local smithy. Inside you see a pair of men attention to a forge. One takes notice of the party and after a few more moments sets aside his work and approaches the party taking a moment to wipe of someone of the grime from the work.

The blacksmith is a tall, powerfully built man with dark skin and a well cropped beard he holds out a hand in greeting down to guests and announces himself, "welcome to my forge guests. I'm Martin Hengus, blacksmith for the town. This is my husband Edgar." He gestures to the man he was working with, a slightly shorter tanned man with a well worked laborer's body and wiry black hair. "You must be the Pathfinders. We were just finishing up another project putting together more game traps for Plisken. We weren't sure when you would need us and setting aside work for days doesn't feel right for me."

"Already expecting a lot of work past this catching up with local work, but that is already set aside, we are ready to start working when you need."

Edgar voices up as well, "not sure our talents will be too useful up there. We didn't end up leading any of the renovations on the town either. I don't think a stone keep will be any better than wooden buildings. Hopefully something like that will work into the project, but if not that makes sense."

I'm guessing Indifferent for these guys :)

Can we use Martin and Hengus for those tasks that require Crafting (Trained)?

Jayma happily reaches up and grasps Martin Hengus's hand, hoping that she'll get it back in one piece. "I am very pleased to meet you Martin Hengus, Edgar; very pleased." Reclaiming her slightly dirtier hand from the big man, she says, "My name is Jayma, and this..." indicating Zabu, "...is Zabu; we are indeed two of the Pathfinders you've heard about."

She gives both men a big smile and says, "After the reception I got from the Horgats earlier, I didn't know what kind of greeting to expect from you. Are the Hogarts always that, um... difficult, or did I catch them at a bad time do you think?" She pauses in case they decide to answer.

"We just wanted to drop by and say hello and to let you know that we plan on starting work at the old fort nice and early tomorrow morning. I believe the plan is for everyone to meet up at the fort and review the work assignments, form teams, and get started on the work. I'm guessing that the first couple of days will be mainly clean-up duty before we get down to the nitty gritty of rebuilding."

Then, indicating the game traps, she adds, "Mr Brown will also be helping us with rebuilding the fort, so I suspect that he won't be needing these nice new traps you're making for him just yet."

Jayma gives out a little laugh. "Surely you jest, Edgar. Two strong fellows like you who are good with their hands? Why, that's exactly the kind of people we want working with us to repair the fort. Why on Golarion wouldn't they hire you to help with the town renovations? I'd have thought Priest Lumley would have a better eye for skilled workers than that. How very odd." She pauses again to see how they react to her comments.

Once the conversation is over...

"Well, gentlemen, we'll leave you to your devices and see you again tomorrow morning. Good evening."

Jayma adds the Hengus' to her mental 'maybe' column.

With Avan, it appears that we have a max of 18 villagers that we can use each day. As the schedule currently stands, we'll only need 15 of them on each of the first two days. Which three should we leave behind? We don't need any skilled workers until day 3. Jayma though is going to insist that the Hogarts work every day, hopefully on the nastiest tasks available.

Martin gives a glare across the way and waves the pair in as he explains in private, "Probably no good time for them. Benyan makes good coin selling his stock of produce to the church. More than everyone else combined I'm thinking. While we are the only smiths in the area, the vegetables travel farther than we do. I think Sylvina does better than us, but if she is making as much as the farm, she isn't posting it on her signboard."

"Benyen thinks making more makes him worth more than the rest of us. I'm not going to be the one to argue with him. You keep your head on your shoulders better if you keep it low."

He gives a nod to the nature of the work noting, "Mask Narsen said as much to us." However, in regards to Plisken's traps, Martin laughs, "but if he needs to be hold up in town for a few weeks helping repairs, I know he will be itching to head out of town. I want to make when the work is don't I'm not going to need to spend too long getting him out of my hair. Don't worry though, I'll be leaving the rest of the order until after your fort is put together."

...

Martin glances away at the mention of Priest Lumley while Edgar explains, "it wasn't that we didn't do work, just that it was more like what you are saying for us. The unskilled labor helping put things together. Expanding, painting, and decorating the buildings was a good deal of work, but not ... not a big need for metal for expanding buildings."

After talking with Sylvina Meadow pulls out her writing set and makes a list:

Gecko needs
1.Cages/wooden door or barracade
2.Gecko food
3.Water trough/barrel

"Thanks for speaking with me Ms Sylvina. I'm sure to see you around. Hopefully we can start training very soon. I think I'm going to need to do a few other tasks first. There's a lot to clean up at the fort. I'll spend my nights up there with the geckos so that they can get used to people. That should make them easier to train right? Anyway I gotta go. I have a bunch to do before dark. See you in the morning."

Meadow then proceeds to secure the items on her list. She will visit the blacksmith to inquire about cages. Since that will likely take a few days she will then acquire some lumber to fence the geckos in the lower level of the keep for a few days.

Her next stop is the Hunters Lodge and Plisken where she will hopefully purchase some meat for the geckos to eat. Since there are already some corpses of midges she needn't get much right now.

Lastly she will visit the cooper for a trough or a half barrel to fill with water for the geckos.

She will take her supplies back to the fort and set the geckos up in the lower levels of the keep. She will keep them hobbled and muzzled and she will block all entrances as best as she can. She will spend the night on just the other side of the barricade in order to acclimate the geckos to human contact, occasionally entering and soothing them to the best of her ability.

In the morning she will meet up with the Manaro family and attend sunrise services.

Meadow to Sylvina in Knicks and Knacks

Sylvina happily directs Meadow's attention to a wood engraving of a owl against the full moon. She takes the chance to mention the issues of the area, "it has been happening over many years, longer than I have been here myself. The taxes here are more than many families can bear, especially those with young children. Over time there have been only a few been able to find their place here."

She wishes luck to Meadow and the other provide unquestioning aid as she runs through her list of tasks. Thankfully the path to the keep is safe and Meadow is able to arrive their before dark.

The geckos are more restrained after the battle, but still are wary of Meadow as she begins to build a bond with the creatures in preparation for the days to come. They are safely sealed away, although the night is not necessarily a comfortable one.

Start of Neth 8th (Day 1 of Rebuild)

The air is brisk as the sun begins to rise into the sky. Everyone in the village enters the church as services begin. Priest Lumley gives an aggressive sermon on the nature and importance of hierarchy in society, specifically to that of the church. While he does mention the need of everyone to serve those like Mask Narsen, the Visions, and the Razmir himself, a significant portion is focused on how the villagers should respect Priest Lumley himself.

Afterwards their are a few minutes spent Lumley takes private confessions from a few of the congregation before finally releasing them to your attention and you are given the opportunity to begin to execute your first day of work.

You will need to post what actions you are taking for this day (likely Cleaning the Fort on this day) and you need to choose the three NPCs you will hire to hep you. Brekovi awakes early, eager to get to work on the new Pathfinder Lodge. When the workers are assembled, he picks his three people to help him clean the road on the approach to the fort.

Clean the Fort (Approach Road): Edgar Hengus, Martin Hengus, Plisken the Brown

Once at the site, he quickly briefs the people working with him on the task. Then he explains that he is going to use his magic to help the group haul the debris. After explaining some of the limitations -- including a warning to not overload the conveyance -- he summons what is perhaps best thought of as a magical bowl that follows him around.

"Not quite the same as a wheelbarrow, we can't dump things from it, but it should help!"

He then proceeds to start loading it with debris from the road and hauling it out of the way.

"I didn't think you were interested in my eruc...oh sorry, I thought you said something else," Zabu says to Jayma on the way to the smiths.

"Got my hopes up there for a second," he says, grinning at his own what can only be called single entendre.

He shakes hands with Edgar and Martin, matching their grips squeeze for squeeze, though, like Jayma his hand disappears inside theirs.

"I don't know, guys. We're going to need nails, hinges, locks, stone working tools. The gate will probably be made mostly of wood but I sure would feel more comfortable if it had some good iron reinforcing it. Once we get the cleanup done, I'm betting you guys will be busy down here," he continues, examining the trap. It looks like he is tempted to try the mechanism but at the last moment he turns away instead of jamming his hand against the pressure plate.

The next day, he does not awaken early. In fact, depending on the rules, he may not be allowed into services because he arrives a quarter of an hour late.

When the groups are mustering, he picks out his crew carefully, rubbing his hands together in glee at his up coming plan.

"You, you and Bessama, come with me," he says the "you" and "you" being Benyan and Gerlind Horgat.

Zabu: Clean the Fort (Great Hall):Benyan Horgat, Gerlind Horgat and Bessama Lingler.

Once they get to the great hall, he chats up Bessama. "So, how'd you sleep last night?" he says, starting a conversation.

"What are you two standing around for? Those rat and gecko droppings aren't going to pick themselves up," he says to the Horgats, turning his attention to them for a moment before resuming his conversation with the half-elf.

And that's how it goes all day. He sets them the worst tasks, lets them take breaks later and get back to work sooner and chides them for any mistakes or accidents.

Meadow will Clean the Fort (Approach Road) with Petres, Rakka and Sylvina.

Prank War Map

Team Brekovi

Edgar is a bit unsure of the magic spell, but Martin settles it as he says, "alright, rare day that we have any magic helping us. Not going to turn down the extra hand it saves!"

Plisken starts out with a great interest, but it wanes as he hears the issue of capacity. "I was thinking it was a strong magic! I can carry more than that!" He flexes and slaps his arms and belly a few times.

After a bit more testing of the spell Edgar seems more comfortable after understanding the limits of the magic, "even if it couldn't replace one of us, it seems like the right tool for the job. Should save us a few hours."

Plisken waves off the debate without a worry and sets to work. He seems comfortable working with the foliage on the road, having a good sense of how to easily trim down the trees and plants on the road. His eyes do wander from time to time though which does slow him slightly.

Martin and Edgar work well as a team the entire time, although using a bit more brute strength to take down the trees. They keep a good pace the entire day clearing the road and digging out the roots as they throw the waste into the magical disk.

Prank War Map

Team Zabu

Bessama seems pleased to working for Zabu, but her coy smile is ecstatic compared to the reactions of the Horgats.

The half-elf happily speaks with Zabu, "not as much as I would have hoped, but I could say that for many a day." She laughs it off with a light chuckle the matches the warm sunny day. "The mistress and her sons had me finish the work I had left and had me get up earlier to settle most of my work before we set out this morning. I hope you were able to rest well though!"

Gerlind spends the most of the day complaining and demanding people do her work whenever she catches anyone taking any sort of break. Not to any particular success. She is quieter the latter half of the day as she is exhausted from even the moderate level of work she is being asked to do and needing to rectify much of her half completed work. This doesn't stop her complaints, but does reduce them to mutterings.

Her husband Benyan takes moments to console his wife, noting that it will all be over soon. Working with the scat doesn't bother him, but he seems more indignant that he is being commanded about. "You could have had someone else do this work. It is mindless and I could be on my farm working to earn real coin." Despite his is demeanor his errors are few and far between and is able to make significant progress. Even by the end of the day shows little sign of wearing down despite the work he put in.

Unlike the other two Bessama doesn't offer a complaint about the work as she obediently completes any task before her, but she gladly takes any chance for a break with Zabu. She coyly whispers in one of these moments, "it is rare to see the day they do more work than I do. Speaking from Matthild it sounds as though they can be as difficult as the mistress's family."

Sorry, but my magic isn’t the strongest. I still have much to learn. Still, I find it has uses if you understand the limits.

"Well, I slept more than I would have liked," Zabu answers with a grin. "It's probably going to be early mornings and late nights for everyone for a while. But I'll make sure you get on the rotation for a break."

He leans in to whisper "But that can be our little secret. We'll tell your bosses your on special assignment somewhere so they don't make you work back at the inn."

Linger though he might from time to time, when he works, he works hard and with strength that belies his size. He isn't afraid of getting dirty, and, with the junk and debris, he's not particularly careful, going more for speed than accuracy when it comes to moving things.

"Come on Gerlind. I thought farmer's wives were supposed to be stout, sturdy girls who would work as hard or harder than their husbands. Don't destroy my misconceptions. Or haven't you ever worked a day?"

"Look around Benyan. Everyone's working today and will be for a while. Get used to being up here because it's not ending any time soon. Shagrat takes great interest in cleaning the fort. He finds a few of the townspeople to help in in the task.

"Now, make sure not throw anything away! Always good use for something later. We put all stuff we find in one place so we use it later. Trust Shagrat--everyone thank us later."

Team Runelord Said Cleaning the Fort, but I will assume it was specifically Cleaning the Fort (Great Hall).

A sigh bellows from the innkeeper. "Alright, I'll see what I can do. Place is a right mess." Lotte gets to work trying to follow Shagrat's instructions, although she clearly is putting more of her opinion on the affair on what to present to Shagrat as she focuses more or getting everything into the pile.

Her son Mikkel doesn't address the task with anything but an anxious nod and a quiet murmur. He takes more attention on the growing refuse pile, sorting into different types of material: plant, broken stone, rotted wood, and the traces that animals have left behind. During the day Mikkel approaches Shagrat holding some fragments of polished agate in his hands as he asks the goblin in a quiet voice, "did... did you want this?"

The Matthild leaps upon the task with some enthusiasm. The halfling happily pipes up to declare, "of course sir, I will do my best to get the area cleared and all collected together." She doesn't debate Shagrat's plan and does her best focusing on collecting debris into the pile. After seeing how Mikkel is sorting the piles she joins in that effort following his lead. Taking the task upon herself she works to clean off some of the mold that has been growing on portions of the floor and walls without instruction.

Meadow visits the Manaro family early in the morning and attends sunrise services with them.

"How are you settling in so far?"

Later she will round up Sylvina, Petres and Rakka in order to clean the road leading to the fort.

"Sylvina, I was in such a rush yesterday that I forgot to ask how much that owl figurine costs. I need to be a little careful with my funds at the moment because getting off the boat cost a bit more than I intended to spend, but I'd like to buy it if I can afford it."

Throughout the day she will make small talk with her charges and try to make this tedious work more pleasant. She will ask about their families and where are they from and what sort of things do they like to do in their spare time. She is particularly curious about Sylvina's comment about training owlbears. She will ask Petres and Rakka about their jobs as guards and if they enjoy it. She will do her best to keep spirits high at all times often telling funny stories about her childhood growing up with fairies and encouraging the others to tell stories as well.

At some point she would like to show Sylvina the geckos and try to get a few pointers on how to acclimate them to people. She invites Petres and Rakka come see as well.

She will keep a close eye on Silence and make sure that he leaves Sylvina's pets alone.

I'm keeping her conversation vague since they'll be at this for hours and she will chatter on all day if they'll let her. Meadow does make a point to try to draw them out and talk about themselves as much as she can though.

Prank War Map

Team Kornel

Bladerock and Avan laugh and give a nod toward the task. Bladerock voices his agreement saying, "Absolutely! I'll make sure sure it is taken down like it was nothing."

Brumn calms a bit as it is clear Priest Lumley is left behind in the village. He still gives nervous glances around area every time he pauses to rest and even then keeps those breaks to a minimum.

New to the town Avan does his best to build a relationship with the other two. Asking them about their interests and other bits of small talk. Bladerock is careful and is wary as he provides information, constantly giving a worried response of, "why would you want to know what?" Wilfred's response is the same, but is far more terse and he provides little actual information.

Wilfred is the slowest acting of the three. He focuses on the easiest to handle tasks, clearing areas after the other have already completed the heavy lifting moving rubble and the roots of the plant-life. Faced with a heavier bit of rubble Bladerock does request some help from Wilfred immediately and Wilfred responds snidely, "I could do that myself, don't bother me with something so easy, else I'll let Priest Lumley know that you are shirking your tasks and maybe you can join the rest of your family."

At the threat Bladerock blanches and he quickly does his best to deal with the task on his own until Avan moves in and offers his own help.

@GM BlazeJ
You have Avan Manaro listed as a crafter but in the character description Erali is the one with the crafter's callouses. Are they both cobblers?

Prank War Map

Meadow: Both are experienced cobblers, although one does wish to stay with the children during the repairs.

Meadow and the Manaro Family

The family is a bit wary after the aggressive sermon and Erali answers, "the village is quiet, but compared to the lands we have traveled I admit that it almost welcome. While Avan is with you, I plan to speak to the Priest to see if there is something we can use rather than bundling together the inn."

Avan adds as he watches the children run about the square as others ready for work. "Most of the village is nice although few places for the children. Hopefully we can find our own way."

Prank War Map

Team Meadow

Sylvina smiles and declares, "Oh no worries. I know you are to stay in the town quite a while and I wish not to force anyone into a rash purchase. That craft hopefully isn't too weighty on your coins. I worked a bit to craft it, but mostly to help have stock to sell those who can't afford the other wares from week to week. It would be a silver for the carving dear."

The others take to the work well, although Sylvina is much slower in her movements as she cleans with little complaint despite her aged body. Rakka provides aid from time to time and Sylvina kindly thanks her each time, "I'll make sure to make something special for you dear as thanks for your help." She adds with a small cackle, "I'll make sure to give you wonderful discount!"

Rakka and Petres perform the duties diligently as they help clear they area.

With the casual tone each of them offer a bit of their own history over the work day.

On her history Rakka says, "Petres and I joined the guard as we grew of age out of the orphanage. Some were able to join the priesthood, but the words never resonated with us and we found other work for us. We were assigned to serve this village and Priest Lumley. I never new much of my own parents I must admit. My earliest memories are of the orphanage."

Stern and stoic Petres offers fragmengs of his own history over the hours, "I have only old memories of my parents and of them giving me up to the orphanage. For the best, as the church has guided me to be far stronger than I would have been in their hands. I was spared their frailties and know the church as my family."

Sylvina laughs as the owlbears are mentioned, "oh, just some skills I picked up in my youth. I traveled for years before settling here years ago and I needed to find various ways to make coin. Forced me to learn a great many things over my days and practice a great many skill. I don't travel much, even common bandit gangs and beasts are too much for me these days, but I feel I put the bits of those memories and studies into everything I make at my shop. All available at reasonable prices I might say."

Edit:

The guards have no interest in trying to deal with the geckos and are in a the mood to keep a far distance from the creatures. They continue to be aggressive to Sylvina and she begins to give advice on how to combat that natural instincts and be accepted by the creatures.

Prank War Map

Team Zabu

Bessama gives a coy and restrained laugh as she notes, "well I am happy to keep your secret. You are truly my hero."

The housewife is offended by Zabu's declarations stating outright, "if I wanted to work then I would have already done it! My love treats me as a princess and I have Matthild to serve my needs for me! You take her away and have her working over there," she gestures across the hall in a way that catches the halfling off guard. "Now working for that goblin while you treat me like a pauper! This is an embarrassment!" She complains yet more and Matthild seems worried on what to do, but continues forward on her own tasks after being told by Lotte, "you work for the Society here, not for her. Don't let her distract her from your tasks."

The farmer lets his wife fight well enough for a time and just glares at Zabu as he holds his tongue from releasing more barbed comments. After a while he encourages his wife to calm, "I'll make sure to get you something to make up for all this mess."

Prank War Map

I will still need Jayma's action for Day 1 and I'll be ready to resolve it when it is posted tomorrow, but I'll be moving on to day 2 for the party.

Once again securing the geckos there is a lot of pride among the more content workers. A great portion of the keep is now clear of debris and waste. Portions or are collected into piles for easy sorting and removal

The great keep and road upwards are ready for repairs. Only a bit more work is left on the courtyard and will likely finish with another days work.

If Meadow repeats her stay at the Fort with Geckos

Meadow's Nightmarish Visions:
In the evening you are awoken by a nasty crunching noise. Looking around you find no one about, but some of the rubble has shifted opening access to the geckos space. They are the source of the nasty and horrid sound as you find the the creatures devouring a dead humanoid corpse and mangled beyond recognition. As one of the geckos turns toward you, you awaken from the nightmare and find all normal, the geckos still safely contained with nothing you had not left them.

Start of Neth 9th (Day 2 of Rebuild)

The process appeals again, and this morning sermon is more one of educational process running through the roll of the government and the importantance of one's subservience to it for the good of the elite and, therefore, the prosperity of the kingdom.

The workers are all available for another day of work.

At this point, due to work done the prior day, repairs are not available on the fort exterior and within the great hall. Some of the tasks will require the specialist, the main gate specifically would require the stonemason and one of the two carpenters. Hired NPCs can be moved around if someone does end up hiring someone that is necessary for antoher task.

If Brekovi (or anyone else) does a task requiring a skill check, make that skill check in your post.

Day 1: Jayma will Talk to Locals, selecting Rakka, Bessama, and Matthild as her targets.

In an effort to speed things up for future Talk to Locals tasks, I have put together the following list of break-the-ice discussion areas, a variation of which Jayma will use in her initial talks with each resident NPC.

Step 1: Introducing herself.

Jayma walks up to <NPC>. If she hadn't already introduced herself previously, she smiles and says, "Hello, you must be <NPC>. My name is Jayma. I'm so pleased to meet you."

Jayma helps <NPC> with their task and tries to engage them in conversation.

Step 2: Asking after their well-being.

"How are you doing today? I do hope we're not working you too hard. If you're having any trouble, please let one of us know; any trouble at all."

Step 3: Introducing the Pathfinder Society.

"As you've probably heard, we're Pathfinders. I'm not sure if you know what that means though. It means that we're members of an organization whose task it is to explore the world and report back anything of interest that we find."

"This fort we're rebuilding will be our lodge here in Razmiran; our local headquarters if you will. Once it is up and running, you will probably see a lot more people like us coming and going through Prophet’s Rest."

"The world is a very exciting place full of wonders to explore and dangers to overcome. I've dreamed of this life since I was a small child. Have you lived in Prophet’s Rest your whole life? Have you ever dreamed of leaving Prophet’s Rest and seeing more of the world? If only for a little while?"

Step 4: Determining the strength of their attachment to the Church of Razmir.

"I say, Priest Lumley seemed to be in particularly good form at services this morning, no? He seems very devoted to the cause."

She bends towards them and lowers her voice slightly so that it doesn't carry, and adds, "Still, as a newcomer I'm not so sure that the Church of Razmir is really for me. It seems a little too strict and stuffy. I tend to prefer something a little more relaxed. Do you know what I mean?" Straightening up, she adds, "Maybe I just don't understand the Church of Razmir all that well. How would you describe its impact on your life?"

Step 5: Seeing if they'll gossip about the others in the village.

Looking out at those working around them, Jayma says, "You residents of Prophet’s Rest seem to be a rather interesting mixture of personalities, don't you agree? I admit that I find the Horgats rather annoying, and that guard Aasif is definitely a piece of work, but everyone else seems nice. Do you have any interesting stories you're willing to share about Prophet’s Rest and it's other residents? I promise I won't tell anyone if you do." She puts on a big smile and winks at them to show that their secrets are safe with her.

After knocking off work that night, Zabu explores the village. He knows the population, since he's seen them all working at the fort. He largely knows the family groups for the same reason.

He also knows that the main street is, by far, nicer than anything else but he doesn't know how big the "anything else" is so he goes to check.

He's specifically looking to see if there are abandoned/empty houses.

The next morning he is no earlier to services and spends the entire time cleaning and sharpening his nails, which often includes using his teeth.

He gathers up the same crew as he did the previous day.

Zabu: Excavate the Stairs:Benyan Horgat, Gerlind Horgat and Bessama Lingler.

Standing with arms akimbo at the top of the stairs he looks to where they're having to move everything. "Bucket brigade. Come stand next to me 'princess,'" he sneers.

"Then your prince can be next to you and Bessama at the end. Your job's real simple. I'm going to hand you something and all you have to do is hand it off to your husband just like you do all your other burdens. He'll hand it to Bessama and she'll toss it. Keep up."

"Oh...it helps if you do this." He spits in both hands and rubs them together.

"Got it?" the he claps her on the back in a friendly manner.

Start of Day 2

Brekovi asks for Junissa, Braderock and Petres to work on repairing the main gate.

On the walk out to the lodge, he talks with them. “Well, today we get to start the real work, starting with fixing the main gate! I’ve already talked with Junissa and Braderock about it, Braderock helped me avoid a few mistakes in the planning.

Looking to Petres, he says “I don’t know what experience you may have with this sort of work, but with your strength I’m sure you can help haul things and hold them steady when needed.

If there is more you can do to help on this project, please let me know so we don’t waste your talents. I fear that I really didn’t have a chance to talk with you before this, was rather absorbed in planning what needed to be done.

He then turns the conversation to exactly what tasks they will try to get done this day and how best to split up the work. He is happy to take suggestions and encourages Braderock to point out any problems he may see, knowing the man has a tendency to avoid saying anything that might be considered bad news.

By the time they get to the gate, each of them knows where to start and what to do.

They work throughout the day, taking rests periodically so as to not overwork anyone. Brekovi does his best to keep everything on track and cooperative. He focuses his own talents on tasks that require a fine hand or getting into places that one of the larger folk would have trouble fitting.

He is quite pleased with the progress they are able to make and promptly pays each of them their wage at the end of the day. “Excellent work! Thank you each for your efforts,

He then goes to inspect what was found by those clearing the rubble from the stairs down in the great hall.

Shagrat is pleased with the progress from the previous day, knowing goblins in future generations will be happy with the scrap yard. He is also excited to show the shiny agate that his crew had found, and shows his fellow Pathfinders.

He takes the excavation progress on with gusto. Digging around and looking for more shiny stuff is right up his alley.

Since a few of the helpers he had the previous day were still available, he tries to recruit their help again. But because Matthild hadn't been as helpful, he tries to get someone else involved.

"Now, might sound boring digging stuff up, but maybe we find lots of neat things under stairs! Be on lookout and show Shagrat anything shiny! Or eat-able!"

I'll try to recruit:
