The attempt to incapacitate the gecko nearly causes the shot to miss, but the giant gecko's hide is little an it's agility falls just short of dodging the shot as she knocks one out and then connects with a second blow nearly knocking out a second one.

Jayma sees Meadow creep into the room and hears the rapid shuffling of padded feet that it provokes. "Looks like we've found our lizards," she says with an excited yelp and takes off after Brekovi. In her exuberance, she can't resist tapping Zabu on one shoulder and passing around him on the other side, saying "I believe they're this way, Mr Creed," with a short giggle.
Action 1: Stride (Speed: 25 feet)
She stops as soon as she spots the (red) gecko. "How disappointing; with all the 'giant' talk I was expecting something larger."
With a glance, Jayma selects a viciously jagged piece of debris from across the room. She's about to start casting her spell when a thought occurs to her; "Was Meadow serious about capturing these creatures?" In answer, she sighs to herself, and after a quick internal debate, thinks, "Fine, whatever! I'll try to go easy on them, but the kid gloves come off if they so much as look at me funny." She switches her debris selection to a more rounded rock before continuing with her spell.
Waving her arms to get the lizard's attention, she calls out, "Goodnight, gecko," and snaps her right hand in its direction with a flick of her wrist. As the lizard's head turns towards her, the rounded rock she'd selected across the room takes off like a bullet and bounces off the side of the creature's head.
Actions 2 & 3: Cast a Spell: Telekinetic Projectile vs red gecko
Telekinetic Projectile Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 2 = 25 nonlethal
Telekinetic Projectile Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 nonlethal bludgeoning damage vs red gecko
Double damage if a crit.
| GM Blazej |
Jayma's debris connects solidly with the giant gecko and it only steps a few more feet before collapsing to the ground leaving now two of the lizards unconscious on the ground.
The other, having been dealt a critical blow by Meadow, shifts to fleeing the well equipped party as it abandons the area to them. It runs forward and up and over the wall as it seeks to bypass the large blockade. This movement will move green past Zabu, Jayma, Shagrat, and Kornel. I think Shagrat is able to take to use Attack of Opportunity, but not sure about everyone else
With only one left not retreating, the last shows no such immediate fear and lunges for the ysoki at the head of the field. With a quick snap of it's jaws it deals a crushing blow to Brekovi, although it misses with a secondary attempt to finish off the wizard.
Jaws vs Brekovi: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Crit for 12 points of damage
Jaws #2 vs Brekovi: 1d20 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (10) + 6 - 5 = 11
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Miss

(Brekovi's AC is 18, so 26 shouldn't crit, right?)
Kornel ducks as the fleeing lizard scurries past him. "Live and let live, eh." Turning his attention to the other lizard instead, the ragged sorcerer raises his hand, and a crackling arc of electricity travels to the hostile reptile.
Electricity damage, basic Ref save: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
and 1 action to shield.
| GM Blazej |
(Brekovi's AC is 18, so 26 shouldn't crit, right?)
That is normally correct, but because this was a natural 20, it was treated as one success level higher than normal.
Reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
The gecko is able to avoid the worst of the electric arc, but still is slightly suffering a moderate wound from the spell.
Brekovi
|
After the cry of pain, Brekovi mutters "Stupid murderous lizard!"
Brekovi carefully steps to the side and then casts a protective spell. He then takes a wild swing at the lizard trying to eat him!
staff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 Yeah, that is every bit as pathetic as I expected...
Bludgeoning: 1d4 ⇒ 1

(Brekovi's AC is 18, so 26 shouldn't crit, right?)
The lucky lizard rolled a nat-20, so what would have been a regular success gets raised to a critical success.
Assuming someone else doesn't finish the lizard first...
Jayma cringes a little as the lizard's jaws close so effectively on Brekovi. "Ouch! that looks like it might smart a little. Maybe even leave a scar. Thank Shyka it wasn't me."
Wasting no time, she selects another rounded rock. With one more flick of the wrist and a "Squamata sleep soundly," the rock snaps towards the remaining gecko and smacks it in the nose.
Actions 1 & 2: Cast a Spell: Telekinetic Projectile vs black gecko
Telekinetic Projectile Attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 8 - 2 = 19 nonlethal
Telekinetic Projectile Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 nonlethal bludgeoning damage vs black gecko
In the unlikely case that the lizard survives the coming barrage, Jayma says, "shelter," and the space around her shimmers slightly.
Action 3: Cast a Spell: Shield - AC 16
Shagrat the Goblin Runelord

Shagrat has no qualms stabbing the giant gecko that passes by him, leaving an exposed side.
He then rushes up to its tail, stabbing it twice more.

Looking at the map, he had to have attacked Black. He is no where near green.
| GM Blazej |
Shagrat is able to deal with the retreating gecko while other is knocked out with the united power of the Pathfinder party.
Searching the area doesn't reveal much more unfortunately as the immediate passage beyond is blocked by a collapse of stone and dirt. Based on the design of the building is within reason that the not all the lower level has collapsed, but like most issues with the Fort, can only be fixed with days of labor.
Doubling back to the barracks above, the former quarters has been severely damaged by several roof leaks. While the furnishings are need to be replaced, the foundation and framing remain in good condition. Repairs will be able to restore it to the point where it can provide shelter to whomever stays at the fort.
You have a reasonable confidence that the fort is secure and clear of any threats.
An evaluation that the base structure of the ruins is serviceable, but a lot of work will be necessary to get the area into a Pathfinder Lodge. All the areas need to be cleared of debris, the broken watchtower will need to be safely collapsed, and various areas need repairs and restoration. If you has much support from the town that Narsen implied, you should be able to complete most, if not all the tasks, well within your time frame.
Jayma
|
Jayma looks around, but seeing that they'd taken care of all the lizards, relaxes a little. With a look of satisfaction, she says, "That's that then. Another vermin infestation exterminated."
She turns to Meadow. "My dear. It looks like Shagrat got a little stabby with the one that tried to get away, but these three here appear to still be breathing." She looks at the unconscious bodies of the geckos. "I'm not sure what you had in mind for them; they seem a little small to use as mounts, and anyway, they may be too stupid to domesticate."
Turning to Brekovi, she says, "That's a nasty looking wound you've got there, Brekovi. I wish I could do something about it for you, but healing of any kind is not one of my areas of expertise, and my ancestors are notoriously fickle with their time."
Kornel Pastovic
|
Kornel walks to Jayma and Brekovi, chuckling to himself and already taking out first aid supplies. "Ah hah, yes, yes. I understand. Ah, that does not seem that bad..."
Recovery: 2d8 ⇒ (1, 7) = 8
(I can continue healing for 1 hour to double the healing -- if time is not an issue but the lack of 4 hp is.)
——
Once the Pathfinders have sufficiently surveyed the area, Kornel thinks aloud, "Perhaps the reparations would be best to start by collapsing that tower. The rest should go smoothly, no?"
Brekovi
|
When Jayma’s rock knocks the lizard out, Brekovi looks relieved. “Thank you.”
He gladly accepts Kornel’s treatment.
“These aren’t fully grown yet.”
“I do fear they may be too old for training though, I am guessing you would want to raise them from the time they hatch in order to do it properly. As for using them as mounts, a fully grown one is probably big enough to carry someone like myself or Shagrat.”
Gesturing to his wound, he says “I do believe that we have established they are a threat. We will need to either kill them or try relocating them.”
Zabu "Daggertooth" Creed
|
As Jayma brushes past him at the start of the battle, Zabu surveys the lizards then snorts. "These things aren't worth my time," he says.
He stands with his arms crossed over his chest as the rest of the group makes short work of them.
"They might make decent guard animals. A good guard animal isn't entirely tame, anyway," he comments when discussion of what to do with the living geckos comes up.
He doesn't necessarily wait for the end of that debate though.
"At least Shagrat got us some food for a while," he says on his way out of the room. He grabs the dead gecko by the tail and starts hauling it back up to the surface. He almost falls after several feet as it breaks off.
"Forgot they could do that," he grumbles, tossing the tail to Shagrat before grabbing one of the lizard's legs to finish the job.
"I'm going to knock down that tower, if anyone cares to join me."
Brekovi
|
Brekovi will follow Zabu out to the tower.
“I don’t suppose you are going to wait until we have the proper tools to do this, are you? I’m curious, how do you intend to collapse it?”
Jayma
|
Addressing Meadow and whomever remains, Jayma says, "Well, I'll leave it in your capable hands to determine the fate of these creatures. If you need my help, I'll be outside watching Zabu try to take down that tower."
She then gives Twyl the all-clear through their mental link and hurries after Zabu. She suspected that no matter how the tower demolition went, there would be plenty of entertainment to be had. She climbs up to the roof of the keep and finds a comfortable spot to sit where she has a good view of Zabu and the partially dilapidated tower.
Jayma then calls out to the gnome, "Feel free to commence whenever you're ready, Mr Creed." She wishes she had a bag of those tasty popped corn thingies that were so popular at spectacles in Absalom.
| GM Blazej |
There is no doubt that Zabu will be able to bring down the tower with some effort, but there is no viable way he or anyone else can offer that would not deal significant damage to the fort walls, at minimum.
This would require someone Expert at Crafting or a Stoneworking Lore to start at accomplishing this safely.
Brekovi
|
“Zabu, I’m worried that if we don’t do it carefully the tower might damage other parts of the fortress. Might want to see if the village has someone good with stoneworking. They might know of a safe way to do it.”
"Meadow"
|
Meadow cries out as Shagrat slices open the fleeing lizard.
"Oh no Shagrat! You killed him! You killed the poor thing."
After the fight Meadow examines the lizards and uses her rope to muzzle and hobble the beasts.
"Can I borrow some more rope to take care of the others?"
She turns to Brekovi in shock.
"No! They're still little. We can train them."
She looks to the unconscious lizards.
"Can't we?"
I dunno, maybe a nature check to see if they can indeed be trained to be less aggressive and suitable for mounts or possibly for pulling wagons?

Jayma watches Brekovi try to reason with Zabu and sighs. As exciting as it would have been to watch Zabu knock down the tower, perhaps it wasn't the best approach to renovating the fort. Even with her basic training in architecture she could tell that Zabu wouldn't be able to demolish the tower without taking a fair bit of the fort down with it. She stands, dusts herself off, and skips down the stairs to join Brekovi and Zabu.
“Zabu, I’m worried that if we don’t do it carefully the tower might damage other parts of the fortress. Might want to see if the village has someone good with stoneworking. They might know of a safe way to do it.”
"He's right, Mr Creed. You are quite likely to kill yourself if you attempt to bring down the tower unaided. Even worse, you will almost certainly damage the fort further in the process, making an already difficult job even more difficult for those of us who survive you."
Jayma hopes that Zabu reconsiders. She'd started to get used to having him around and suspects that the rest of the mission would be much less interesting if he were to die today. A pity though; it would have been a magnificent way to start a journey to the Boneyard.
Zabu "Daggertooth" Creed
|
Zabu has spit in both his hands and rubbed them together and looks like his plan is to just pull rocks out until the whole thing comes tumbling down when Brekovi points out the likelihood of making a bigger mess than desired.
The gnome stops and studies the tower then the wall, then the tower again for several seconds before shrugging.
"I suppose you have a point."
He shields his eyes and looks at the sun, gauging the time.
"Probably don't have time to get back to town, round somebody up and get them back here before night sets in. Are we going to sleep in our new lodge tonight or head back to the inn?
"The inn's probably better. We're going to have to go to town early tomorrow, anyway. Might as well start there."
Jayma
|
Ninja Jayma FTW! A two second difference in posting, and the wonderful thing is that Zabu's post is perfect just the way it is.
"The inn's probably better. We're going to have to go to town early tomorrow, anyway. Might as well start there."
Jayma shudders at the thought of sleeping rough in the fort tonight. "I quite agree Mr Creed. If their beds are as good as their food, the inn will be an infinitely better option than staying here tonight."
She then turns to the wizard. "Brekovi dear. I fear that Meadow has bitten off a little more than she can chew with the lizards. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure she isn't going to be able to care for nor train these geckos to be of any use to us. Maybe you could convince her to um, part with them; if you know what I mean."
Nudge nudge, wink wink, Say no more.
Brekovi
|
Brekovi scratches at his ear as he thinks it over.
“I have found it is always best not to bet against my fellow Pathfinders. They tend to surprise me, usually in good ways.”
“How about I suggest we move the murderous lizards to someplace where they will not bother the fort. That would still allow her a chance to attempt training while not getting in the way of our task here.”
He then turns back to Zabu and says “If the village does have a stonemason, they will probably allow you to help with the active portion of the demolition.”

Jayma raises a skeptical eyebrow, but shrugs. "You may be right. Meadow may well prove me wrong. If nothing else, it'll be interesting to see how she fares." Then, pointing to Brekovi's not quite healed bite wound, she adds, "I just hope she doesn't get too many of those in the process." "Nor I, for that matter," she thinks to herself.

"In any case, now that the fort is safe and secure, the rest is all about hiring workers," Kornel summarizes. "We get to have a good night's rest at an inn and watch others do the work. Looks like we lucked out on an easy mission, eh?"
He ponders for a bit, and adds, "Ah, well, I suppose we cannot just hire just about anyone. Part of our job here is making sure we hire, how do you say, the right kinds of people. Heh, I am sure it will be fine: the people here seem hard-working and honest. We can get along. So long as no giant reptiles bother them, eh, Meadow?"

Shagrat looks surprised at Meadow's reaction. "It not good to eat stuff that not dead yet!" he exclaims. "It hurt the critter really bad!"
"When we stop to rest later, Shagrat cook it up. He even share with you," he says with a smile.
Brekovi

Brekovi wanders back down to where Meadows is with the lizards. He once again causes his staff to glow as he goes into the darkness.
“Meadows, how long does it take to train an animal, such as your owl Silence?”
He then brings up the idea of moving the lizards. It would give her time to figure out if they could be trained, without being a danger to the people in the area.
“Assuming we can find someplace to put them...”
| GM Blazej |
This is under the idea that while Meadow has the Nature skill, it would require something like the Train Animal skill feat to properly train a creature for a purpose.
Meadow does believe that someone practiced in training animals could still train the geckos, it would be easier if they were far younger, but she is likely familiar with some who have done similar. However training Silence was one matter, training the set of wild lizards would be outside Meadow's current experience.
As it stands she would be able to rein in their territorial nature in regards to humanoids over time and lay groundwork for someone else to train them.
...
Returning back to Prophet's Rest it isn't any more lively as only a few people move about. Inside the Inn you find the innkeeper still at the bar, on her feet this time as she seems to wait at the order of Mask Narsen who sits in the corner comfortably reviewing a document as you enter. He turns his attention away from it as he turns directs himself full you you. "Ah! Welcome back! I certainly hope that was an exciting effort, although," he pauses for a moment as he raises his hand to stop himself, "I also hoped for your safety. Still the more harrowing tales are more well known. Did you run into any issues as you cleared the fort? Did you get a chance to admire the view while you were there?"
On the floor above you can hear a bit of noise from the children and their parents settling in one of the rooms within the Inn.
The woman at the bar with the build of a well practiced laborer, gives a glance toward the party but immediately turns toward nursing her drink.
The half-elf servant is no longer cleaning the floors, but is now moved onward cleaning the tables, which show no signs of being used since you left. She takes a bit of a longer glance at the party before the innkeeper hisses at her under her breath, "Bessama, tend to your work and don't bother the guests!"
The half-elf loses her smile as she redoubles her cleaning efforts.

Oops I totally didn't think to check about training animals being a possible skill feat.
Brekovi wanders back down to where Meadow is with the lizards. He once again causes his staff to glow as he goes into the darkness.

He then brings up the idea of moving the lizards. It would give her time to figure out if they could be trained, without being a danger to the people in the area.
“Assuming we can find someplace to put them...”
Meadow snickers and elbows Silence, then leans in to whisper to him.
"He thinks you're trained."
Smiling, she turns to Brekovi.
"Silence is my best friend. I ask him to do something and he does it. He does stuff for me not because he's trained but because he's my friend just like I do stuff for him, like open doors and buy expensive tien barbeque. Anyway I probably won't be able to totally train the lizards myself. I can maybe get them to not be aggressive around people so that someone else can train them. Do you think we can find an animal trainer in town? Surely there's someone that works with draft animals at least."
Brekovi
|
Brekovi looks at Meadow, trying to decide if she is serious. Unsure, he says "Draft animals generally don't try to eat their trainer..."
Then he shrugs. "As long as the lizards don't bother any of the people working to repair the lodge or traveling between it and the town, I will be satisfied. It is time to go."
---
On the way back, Brekovi comes up along side Jayma. "Mind talking while we walk? I was sort of wondering why you stayed back when we were trying to help the family from Lastwall."
---
Back at the Inn
"The view was nice, I was less fond of the giant geckos." Brekovi gets out the notes he made while there. "I do hope you have a stonemason available, one tower looks like it is about to fall and take some of the rest of the structure with it."
"It will take a lot of hard work, but assuming the tower can be taken care of everything else seems practical."
| GM Blazej |
Narsen raises his hands and gives them a small wave as if to dismiss the concern from Brekovi, "have no worry, I have already accounted for that need and have drawn upon the skilled stonemason, Junissa Yovitch." He gesture to the woman a drink at the bar. She takes a look at the party, forces a minimal courteous nod to you all and the Mask before turning to her drink. Narsen continues, "her skills are of high regard within the capital of Thronestep and understanding your need I brought her here with myself for the installation of your Lodge!"
Brekovi
|
Looking towards the woman, Brekovi gives a nod and says “Pleased to meet you, Junissa.”
Looking back to Narsen, he says “The only other danger we found was a nest of bugs that we wiped out.”
“Would you prefer to start discussing the tasks we know are needed now or in the morning? We could certainly escort a group of workers there tomorrow if they are available.”
Zabu "Daggertooth" Creed
|
"Nothing worth mentioning," Zabu answers Narsen's question as they enter the bar.
"The view's much nicer here, anyway," he continues, climbing up onto a barstool near Lotte with a grin as he looks from her to Bessama and back.
"Now, now, don't give her such a hard time. You can't expect a woman to concentrate on something as tedious as work when someone as handsome as me comes into a room. But I'm sure you know that yourself," he says with a wink and a grin.
Jayma
|
On the way back, Brekovi comes up along side Jayma. "Mind talking while we walk? I was sort of wondering why you stayed back when we were trying to help the family from Lastwall."
Brekovi's question brings back the unpleasant memories of their earlier arrival at the dock. Jayma's face darkens slightly, "No, Brekovi dear, I don't mind in the least. It was an unfortunate situation which purely by good fortune was resolved to the best."
She pauses, gathering her thoughts, "But it could very well have taken a bad turn, especially if the priest hadn't proven to be so venal. If it had come to blows - and knowing Zabu, it would have - then our entire mission here, as well as our own personal security would have been in jeopardy... And to what end? The family would have been in even greater danger; our rather sensitive mission for the Society would have failed before it started; and we would now be considered criminals to be hunted down in an inhospitable land."
She looks directly at Brekovi, "After weighing all the possible outcomes, I decided that it was best if we, well I, did not involve myself with the plight of the family. Considering everything at the time, it seemed like the best of a bad set of choices."
Her eyes drop and she looks distractedly into the distance, "And anyway it's not as if the boy were being sold off to work in the northern mines of Cheliax." Jayma shudders inwardly at the recollections of her visits to the slave markets of Egorian with her parents. "No doubt the priests were a strict and capricious bunch, but at least they took care of their own. A smart lad like Aytun might well rise in their ranks to better things." Or so she told herself to lessen her discomfort.
Brekovi
|
"Come to blows?" is Brekovi's surprised response. Stealing a quick look at Zabu, he asks Jayma "Is he really that reckless?" I really hope she is exagerating about how volatile he is!
He thinks a little bit, then says "I do not know how you arrived at your conclusion, but I do hope you took into account how much better you are at convincing difficult people than others such as myself."
Jayma
|
"Come to blows?" is Brekovi's surprised response. Stealing a quick look at Zabu, he asks Jayma "Is he really that reckless?"
Jayma laughs a little at Brekovi's question. "The thing with Zabu is that he's got a short fuse. It sometimes takes a bit to light it, but once it's going, you better get out of his way. They don't call him 'Daggertooth' for nothing, after all." Jayma still vividly remembers Zabu tearing that blue smurf apart with his bare hands and teeth like he was just a piece of parchment. "Reckless is his middle name. The trick is to talk him down before the fuse is lit. It's not easy, but as you saw with the tower demolition, it is possible... sometimes."
He thinks a little bit, then says "I do not know how you arrived at your conclusion, but I do hope you took into account how much better you are at convincing difficult people than others such as myself."
Jayma was always happy to receive compliments. "That's very kind of you to say, my dear. I know we don't see eye-to-eye on what happened at the dock, but rest assured that if Meadow hadn't convinced the priest, and things had devolved to the point where Zabu felt that more direct physical intervention was required, I'm pretty sure that I would have stepped in. After all, there would have been nothing left to lose at that point, and Pathfinders always have the backs of their colleagues, no?"
Shagrat the Goblin Runelord
|
Once back in the town, Shagrat wonders if he should work on skinning the lizard immediately, or later in the evening.
But when the others enter the bar, he decides to wait.
When Brekovi mentions tasks to restore the keep, Shagrat says "Not much work needed--almost ready to move in now," he says.
"Maybe need to find good place for trash heap. Or lizard-skinning station."
| GM Blazej |
After a glance toward Narsen, Junissa reluctantly acknowledges Brekovi's greeting. "I'm ready to get this work done."
Mask Narsen continues to answer Brekovi. He gestures apologetically as he admits as he presses for your consideration, "I rather deal with those issues sooner. I will be needing to leave today for Xer to speak with my superiors and continue laying the groundwork for the continued cooperation between my government and the Pathfinder Society." He motions and tone call out to the woes and pride of the endless objectives of work. "I will be back within a few weeks, no more than a month, to help review anything you may be lacking."
Reviewing the tasks to repair Fort Agate the only other specialty the party might be requiring is that of a carpenter. To that Narsen notes and suggest the local Cooperage, "Braderock is a good loyal soul who will do all the woodwork you need for the new Lodge. I have already placed the lumber for your Lodge in his hands for you to purchase."
"As for other workers, the entire town is all available for this project, for reasonable compensation of course. Speak to any you wish and let them know when they start their work."
Brekovi
|
"Ah, sorry! I wasn't aware you needed to leave so soon." Brekovi apologizes. With a slight smile, he says "Yours is a task I would certainly find challenging. I wish you the best."
"Who can we use as a local contact? Someone who knows the local people here and their skills?"
---
Looking to the rest of the group, he asks "Is there anything you can think of that we may have missed?"
| GM Blazej |
"The view's much nicer here, anyway," he continues, climbing up onto a barstool near Lotte with a grin as he looks from her to Bessama and back.
"Now, now, don't give her such a hard time. You can't expect a woman to concentrate on something as tedious as work when someone as handsome as me comes into a room. But I'm sure you know that yourself," he says with a wink and a grin.
Lotte laughs at the complement, keeping a wary bit of attention for any request from Narsen. "I will admit that it is rarer these days for me to get a kind word like that sir." She laughs a bit more as she focuses on the kind words.
From Zabu catches sight of a small smile from Bessama as she continues silently working.
**
"This is a small homey village, I'm certain you can appraise yourself quickly of the persons throughout better for the skills you need than any other," Narsen declares to Brekovi as he extolls your own skills. "Everyone in the village knows one another, but you may consider Priest of the Third Step Lumley. I believe you already met him at the docks. A Temple resides at the heart of the villages soul and he would be able to list all who live here. I have already spoken to him and he is also ready to help aid with the reconstruction efforts as well!"
He waves his hand about as it ends up gesturing back toward the Innkeeper. "As I said though, anyone here could help you, even Lotte here can help you with those local here."
Lotte turns her full attention immediately to Narsen as she quickly acts to respond to his order. "Of course Mask Narsen. I'm Lotte Mayar and have been serving as innkeeper here for many a year and seen this little village through its growth and tended to the ups and-" She pauses a moment as she quickly cuts herself off with a nervous laughter, "look at me meandering around talking about myself. I'm pleased as can be to be able to help found a new addition to that little overlook. I can say the same for my sons Wilfred and Mikkel. Wilfred even spent a few years apprenticed at the cooperage I'll have you know!"
She gestures toward the half-elf without a glance as she introduces her, "this is Bessama ... Lingler." She pauses for a moment as she worked to recall the name. "She is a hard worker when needed and I'll make sure she does her fair share as well putting in work in your building there."

Brekovi tries to hide his distain for the other priest when Narsen mentions him. So the unfriendly one is Lumley. I will do my absolute best to avoid him! He does give a smile when Lotte is voluntold to help. Yup! Definitely going to ask Lotte first!
He thanks both Narsen and Lotte.
Turning to Junissa he says “Please be ready in the morning, after breakfast.” Gesturing towards Shagrat and then Zabu he says “Shagrat managed to climb the tilted tower, and I believe Zabu would like to help tear it down. You can ask any of us about what we noticed.”
It is unclear to me if Brekovi would know that Jayma and Kornel have architecture lore. No one else indicated they had any skills specific to the task.
I don’t have a good feeling for what time of day it is. If there is time after the discussion with Narsen, we should probably tell the carpenter what we know and find out if he will be able to start tomorrow. I’m not sure if some of the debris and such needs to be cleared before he can start or not.
Also, at some point Brekovi would like Kornel to fix the last of his injury before retiring for the night.

"Now, now, don't give her such a hard time. You can't expect a woman to concentrate on something as tedious as work when someone as handsome as me comes into a room. But I'm sure you know that yourself," he says with a wink and a grin.
Jayma catches Zabu's flirting, ("if you can even call it that"), and rolls her eyes. "Oh please. Not this again," she thinks to herself. "It's like we're back at the blacksmith's in Shimmerford. She pauses in thought for a second, "By the way, I wonder how that ended up..." She shakes her head trying to clear the thought from her mind, "... no, no, never mind, I don't want to know."
"have no worry, I have already accounted for that need and have drawn upon the skilled stonemason, Junissa Yovitch." He gesture to the woman a drink at the bar. She takes a look at the party, forces a minimal courteous nod to you all and the Mask before turning to her drink.
When Narsen introduces the stonemason, Jayma nods back at her. "Doesn't look to me like Junissa wants to be here. I suspect that she's going to be a tough one to soften up." Then glancing at Zabu, she thinks, "I'm surprised Zabu isn't more interested in the stonemason. She seems more his type if the blacksmith was anything to go by."
He waves his hand about as it ends up gesturing back toward the Innkeeper. "As I said though, anyone here could help you, even Lotte here can help you with those local here."
Noticing Lotte's reaction and nervous reply to Mask Narsen's comment, Jayma thinks, "Yes. I was right. Lotte and her family are not comfortable with Narsen. In fact, they are clearly terrified of the man. I don't think we can rely on their discretion." She then catches the servant girl's silent smile at Zabu. "Hmmm. Not sure about Bessama though. She may be trouble, but perhaps of the good kind. We'll have to see. Let's hope that Zabu doesn't mess things up with her."

I find it hard to believe that we spent "several days" on the boat, on top of all the "travel across various trade routes at the heart of Avistan going up north" that it took to reach the lake in the first place, without having spoken to each other along the way. I'm happy for us to proceed under the assumption that we know each other's stats and skill training.
For example, Jayma loves nothing more than chatting about architecture, as it is a passion of hers. She also regularly communes with her ancestors if something comes up that they can help with.
I don’t have a good feeling for what time of day it is.
We arrived in Prophet's Rest early in the morning. We had a hearty meal with Narsen at the inn, which I assume was breakfast. The trip to the fort took an hour, with presumably another hour to get back, not counting lizard wrangling time. Assuming we spent several hours at the fort looking it over and removing all the pests, then I'm guessing we're into mid-to-late afternoon. Probably still enough time to find the carpenter and get him to come up with us and the stonemason in the morning for an initial survey of the work required.
Jayma says, "I think there is still a little time left in the day. Shall we find the carpenter and ask him to join us for our after-breakfast visit to the fort tomorrow? The sooner we put together a list of what needs to be done, the sooner we'll get it done."
I would like to point out that Jayma has the Read Lips feat, which she does automatically and without requiring a roll (unless in encounter mode or due to some difficulty of the situation). Jayma is constantly using this feat to collect information from the unwary in conversation within her clear sight.
Phew!

"Sounds good to me. At the very least, they should be able to tell us how much of the debris they need the laborers to clear before they can start their work."
Looking to Kornel, he does ask "Would you have time to look and see if there is anything more you can do about my wound? I think it is just bruises now, but it would be good if I could be completely healed by morning."

Looking to the rest of the group, he asks "Is there anything you can think of that we may have missed?"
"Yes please, Brekovi. We need an animal trainer to train the giant geckos that we captured. I think it would be best if we found one right away."
Narsen... waves his hand about as it ends up gesturing back toward the Innkeeper. "As I said though, anyone here could help you, even Lotte here can help you with those local here."

Meadow turns towards the innkeeper and speaks as sweetly as possible.
"Ms Lotte. Could you please direct me to an animal trainer of some sort? We captured some giant geckos we would like to train as draft animals. I've never really trained any animals before and could use some guidance."

Meadow: For efforts since arriving at Prophet's Rest and the fights with the creatures inhabiting the fort, Meadow gets a Hero Point.
Jayma's estimations are generally accurate. It is late afternoon, enough to check in with the various villagers and perform a review with specialists on getting estimates and appraisals on the various bits of work.
Lotte leaps to answer Meadow, "I'm not sure, but Plisken might be able to help. I mean, Plisken the Brown is a local trapper. He should be at the Hunter's Lodge. Ask him and he might know a bit better. I'll admit I've never known Plisken for training geckos!" She laughs at the idea but quickly moves on to assist more. "Benyan Horgat runs the local farm, but I don't think he has had animals for the longest of times. He is the wealthiest man in town by far, he might know someone who could do it?" She clearly is uncertain about the aid Benyan might provide, but continues onward in response to the suggest of revisiting the Fort tonight between Jayma and Brekovi.
"Unless you mean my son Wilfred, you should be able to find Bladrock Brumn at the Cooperage over by the Smithy." She moves out to the door and gestures drawing your attention to the various buildings at the center of the village square.

"Um...Ms Lotte. I've never been to this town before. Do you think you could let Bessama show me where to find Hunter's Lodge and the local farm?"

Darn it. My edits to my last post don't make much sense. I'll try to fix it.
"I mean, um, not show me but can she go with me to introduce me?"
| GM Blazej |
Lotte is confused by the request briefly, but as she takes a look over at Bessama. After a few moments of thought she agrees, "yes, she can help show you around and make introductions." She regains a bit of force as she declares, "Bessama, head with the Pathfinders and introduce them around. Just make sure to get back soon, your work will not finish itself."
Bessama rises and and straightens herself calmly as she responds calmly a small smile on her lips, "of course ma'am. I'll not doddle as I show them about."
