Special Abilities:
Arcane Tattoos. Kornel can cast electric arc as an innate arcane spell at will.
(Armor Proficiency. Kornel is trained in light armor.)
Blood Magic. Whenever Kornel casts false life, harm or undeath's blessing, either Kornel gains temporary Hit Points equal to the spell’s level for 1 round, or one target of the triggering spell takes 1 negative damage per spell level (if the spell already deals initial negative damage, combine this with the spell’s initial damage before determining weaknesses and resistances).
Entreat with Undead. Kornel gains a +1 circumstance bonus to Diplomacy, Deception, and Intimidation checks when interacting with undead creatures, and a +1 circumstance bonus to Perception and saving throws against undead creatures.
Signature Spells Kornel's signature spells are: 1st - heal, 2nd - animate dead. Kornel doesn't need to learn heightened versions of signature spells separately; instead, he can heighten these spells freely. If he's learned a signature spell at a higher level than its minimum, he can also cast all its lower-level versions without learning those separately.
Student of the Canon. If you roll a critical failure at a Religion check to Decipher Writing of a religious nature or to Recall Knowledge about the tenets of faiths, you get a failure instead. When attempting to Recall Knowledge about the tenets of your own faith, if you roll a failure, you get a success instead, and if you roll a success, you get a critical success instead. (Player's note: At GM's discretion, "Of your own faith" could refer to the Whispering Way. Kornel worships no deity.)
Toughness. The DC of recovery checks is equal to 9 + dying condition value.

Botting:
Once out of spell slots, or when faced with multiple weak enemies, Kornel frequently resorts to his electric arc cantrip.

Kornel casts animate dead when faced with a powerful foe. While his undead minion is summoned, he spends one action to Sustain a Spell to control it, and the remaining two actions to cast electric arc, or to Stride and shield himself.

Kornel doesn't shy away from using his spell slots to heal his allies.

Bio and Backstory:
Pathfinder novice Kornel Pastovic is a middle-aged, dark-haired (but balding) Ustalavic man of Varisian ethnicity. His outfit is rather unkempt — his undershirt is missing a button or two, his jacket has spots of patchwork and dust. One might be forgiven to mistake this scruffy man for a homeless person.

His face bears a near-permanent smile, or grin, and his posture and mannerisms are quite relaxed and phlegmatic. At a surface level, he seems approachable and amicable enough, if one can ignore his scruffy physical appearance. Yet, many who spend extended periods of time with Kornel Pastovic find his presence to feel unnerving — like there's something off about him. His smile feels too forced, his laughter sounds hollow, his calm eyes never seem to blink.

Because he frequently resorts to spells of necromancy and has expertise in identifying undead monsters, it has been rumored that the unnerving Kornel has some ties to the evil necromantic death cult known as the Whispering Way. Nonetheless, his dedication to the Pathfinder Society is evident, and he has done nothing to sully his reputation, aside maybe from his offputting fascination with the undead. It has also been rumored that Kornel's middle-aged appearance does not reflect his true biological age: indeed, he appears, at times, to be more vigorous and youthful; other times, older and even corpselike.

Maintaining his amicable attitude, Kornel has answered these suspicions with his characteristic smile and forced laugh: "Ah hah. A man is allowed to have some secrets, eh? Do not worry, my friend; it is a topic for later conversation. Good to have a little mystery in one's life, eh?"
