In a rare moment of honest emotion Plisken grows a shade paler and is clearly at ill ease when presented the very real oncoming threat. After some time spent thinking thuogh he manages to get out, "I've got some and few traps. But use them on game, not on the undead. I don't don't know how they will work out."
Looking about the gear in his shack he adds, "Don't think I've a longbow. Never any sense in it for my hunting. I'll bring what I've got though."

Jayma makes a special point to go to the Horgat farmhouse to alert everyone there. She particularly wants to make sure that the Horgats don't leave Matthild behind.
If the Horgats refuse to leave or drag their feet trying to take everything of value with them, Jayma will make sure that Matthild at least gets to the fort in plenty of time. If it means Coercing the Horgats with threats of sorcery, then so be it.

(Two tasks to Prepare for the Undead, one task to rest.)
Kornel goes around the fort, hurriedly going over all sorts of things. Whenever someone is setting up a trap, Kornel is there instructing how it might be optimized against a horde of walking corpses. Whenever someone is practicing basic fighting maneuvers, Kornel points out the vulnerabilities specific to skeletons and zombies.
The townsfolk may give him puzzled glances, but Kornel simply laughs it off, in his usual relaxed manner. It is not unusual for a Pathfinder from Ustalav to have faced many living dead, he explains.
Undead Lore: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
However, there is only so much the knowledge of necrology can do in these situations, and after several hours Kornel is beginning to sound less sure of himself, perhaps doubting his methods.
Undead Lore: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
By the end of it all, he may have done more harm than good. After all, the behavior of a zombie is not set in stone, and skeletons might move in unpredictable ways.

This is assuming I can use Plisken to craft snares.
Meadow and Plisken set up snares along the road leading up to the keep.
craft snares: 1d20 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 1 + 1 + 2 = 24
Later Meadow will spen time training the villagers in the various ranged weapons that they have available.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
I'm sorely tempted to spend another 8 hours training and just take the -1 to AC and saves

Dunno how many snares we managed to get but Meadow and Plisken have set snares in the yellow oval. As far as tactics to fill them with arrows while they bash themselves against the wall. Perhaps occasionally pushing someone down that gets too close to the top while climbing.

Craft ammunition, Rest, last task depends on what still needs to be done. It will most likely be Craft Pit or Trap.
Once Brekovi has checked that everyone is in the fort, he starts preparing for the attack.
He asks Matthild if she would check with the villagers for what weapons and armor people have. “Slings are going to be important, since from what Kornel told me they will be one of the best ranged weapons against skeletons. We intend to try our best to keep the villagers from having to melee with any of the undead, but if they do then staves and clubs work well against skeletons. Would want a dagger or sickle to attack a zombie.”
Realizing that they are going to need sling bullets, he finds Martin and Edgar. “We will want sling bullets and perhaps other ammunition. Any sort of slashing blade would also be useful. Could we use your forge, and would one or both of you want to help with this task?”
He will take charge of creating the ammunition needed for defense of the fort.
Crafting Ammunition: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 8 + 2 = 16 Assuming one or the other does help
Once they get back from the forge, he does his best to distribute the ammunition along the walls where it will be needed. He also makes ammunition caches for himself and Jayma including both blunt and sharp objects for use with Telekinetic Projectile.
Then he tries to get some sleep, relying on others to keep watch overnight.
Next section assumes no one else has asked them yet. Delete if we would already know.
After daily preparations in the morning, he will try to get Mask Narsen and Mask Lumley together for a very short chat. Aware that this is likely a somewhat sensitive topic, he tries to do it someplace that the villagers wouldn’t overhear. “I fear that I know so little of your faith that I am not sure what powers either of you may bring forth in Razmir’s name. Is there anything we should be aware of?” He is somewhat embarrassed to admit he doesn’t know what to expect from them.
He then quickly checks with the other Pathfinders to determine what else he should do.
I expect it will be Crafting for Pits or Traps. He is not proficient with either simple weapons or armor, so he can’t train villagers to fight.

Jayma
Everyone in the village does not question the commands issued out and are all coming to the fort. Jayma doesn't find anything different with the Horgats and Matthild.
Kornel
Unfortunately for Kornel, even with basic training, the villagers aren't retaining his teachings well or recalling them in a timely matter for when it might matter in the heat of battle. It isn't enough to have done harm to their work, but it hasn't given any major benefits.
Meadow
Meadow and Plisken set up over a dozen of snares on a wide length of approach road near the tree line. Thankfully nature seems to provide aid in this as the pair find little that slows their progress in the hour of work.
Meadow has a much harder time though compressing her years of combat training with the villagers, especially with their hodgepodge variety of weapons.
Critical Success Crafting Snares
Brekovi
Matthild returns with what she finds, she offers that there is a smattering of padded and leather armor among the town to arm everyone. Aside from the guards weapons among the town are limited to simple knives, clubs, and sickles. Ranged weapons are largely in short supply in the town, but she notes that making a sling is a simple process that shouldn't take much time at all.
In responds to the request for the forge Martin answers, "of course. We are short on weapons, but have crafted a few knives we can help arm people with. We will be happy to put our skills to hold together this town."
While it is a bit arduous of a task, Brekovi is able to work with the Martin in order to create decent bit of ammunition that will hopefully last through the battle.
Success Crafting Ammunition
Will handle chat with Priests in the next post.

Summary of Preparation so Far
The Pathfinders are quick to set up to arranging the defenses of Fort Azure. Brekovi working alongside Martin to provide a supply of projectile ammunition and Meadow before the fort with Plisken setting up a many snare to slow the undead attackers. Kornel, and Meadow later on, spend time training the villagers but the efforts are slow as the hours of the day wear thin.
As of now the fort feels secure against the attack. The work done on the walls and gates has given a great basis for the Pathfinder's immediate work to secure the road and offer the villagers a major advantage in the fight.

Priest Lumley nearly snaps and there is almost a feeling of the spittle being restrained by his mask, but Mask Narsen silences him with a motion from his hand. "The powers Razmir grant me are strongest over the power of those that still live. I can channel holy fire, but not enough to combat but a few of the undead at a time. Lumley's talent channeling the powers of Razmir have proven far less," Lumley casts his eyes downward to hide his rage, "his skill is limited to minor cantrips to create light, prestidigitate, and inflict fear, none of which offer much of a use against the unliving."
Lumley offers a nod to acknowledge that is accurate but says no more on the matter.

“I am sorry, I meant no disrespect. That is why I limited my question as I did and waited to ask until it was unlikely any would overhear.”
“If they attack in the darkness, an additional source of light can be quite valuable.”
He then thanks them for their time and takes his leave.

Jayma realizes that when it comes to the more physical aspects of warfare, she's not of much use. She'll leave it to the others to train the villagers to defend themselves and hopes that they won't have to put it to the ultimate test of melee combat against the undead horde.
But that doesn't stop her from doing her bit to bolster the fort's defenses. She tracks down Junissa and together they go out and prepare some pit traps.
Action 1: Create Pit Traps - in the green oval area
Crafting (untrained) +Level +NPC_Bonus: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 23
With time left, Jayma and Junissa make additional pit traps.
Action 2: Create Pit Traps - in the blue oval area
Crafting (untrained) +Level +NPC_Bonus: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 10
Jayma is exhausted from all the digging and decides to catch a few hours of sleep before the undead arrive so that she'll be fresh and ready to meet them.
Action 3: Rest

![]() |

Brekovi encourages Meadow to rest. A lookout will alert everyone if the undead approach.
He makes sure that at least some of the townsfolk are on the walls watching for the approach of the undead.
If one of the trap makers is available he would work on creating snares in the same area as Jayma set up her pits. Make it so avoiding the pits channels them into the snares.
If no trapsmith is available, he will add another pit trap. One again, if a skilled NPC is available he would ask their help.
Crafting either snares or pits: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 Likely +2, but do not want to interfere with any Train Villagers actions others might do.

As everyone gets into the fort and starts frantically working, Zabu lounges up on the wall, leaning against one of the crenellations and looking out to the west.
"Hey! Watch out! You almost got me!" rings out behind him and he looks down to see Wilfred swinging around a makeshift club wildly.
"Gods. We're all going to die here," the gnome grumbles.
He jogs down stairs and snatches the club away. "Give me that. Ok, you and you and you," he keeps pointing until he's got a decent group of villagers not doing anything important together.
He looks at them and their arms and armament thoughtfully. Then nods. "It doesn't look exactly the same, but this is like a caveman fight. I can work with that."
"This is a stick. But when you hold it like this and swing it like this, it is a club. People have been using these since the beginning of time to crack skulls. I'm going to teach you how to do it properly."
And so, training begins. "That's it, Wilfred, like a hammer but think of all the directions you've had to drive nails from...Matthild, you're bitty, use your size to your advantage, knock a knee, break an ankle...Gerlind, put your hips into it, you've got plenty..."
Train the Villagers (Gladiatorial Lore): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
When he's done all he can with the first batch (and it's not much), he gathers up the second.
"Braderock, didn't I already tell you it's like a hammer? No, must have been Wilfred. IT'S LIKE A HAMMER BRADEROCK!...That goes for you too, Junissa, you use a hammer, I know...Benyan, maybe you should stay in back, or rush to the front. A distraction can be useful."
Train the Villagers (Gladiatorial Lore): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Once he's done all he can with the second group (apparently learning some things from his earlier mistakes), Zabu will find a place to crash, dreaming happy dreams of breaking bones and slicing up rotting flesh.

That is a good suggestion, I'll be fine moving into the next section and letting him make those actions later as we start the battle.

Jayma: Crafting Pit Traps
Junissa dives into the work silently and sets to digging the traps with Jayma. Without anyone to manage the stonemason just sets to using her strength to open up a few pits on the path.
While the first set of traps go smoothly, the second set run into issues hitting stone a few feet into the pit. Junissa takes a pick and expands the pit a bit more, but at the end of the shift it is not much more than a ditch.

Brekovi: Creating Snares
Matthild leaps at the chance to be able to help out with setting up more snares. "It has been a while for me either setting up traps or weapons, but I think I remember both well enough after that quick bit of practice. It feels good to put my skills to use again, although I wish it wasn't because of undead."
The pair operate very well and fill out the area more with snares. At the end the area is difficult to traverse even for the pair with how many traps had been laid.
Critical success on crafting snares.
*****
Zabu: Training Villagers
The first training group doesn't make a whole lot of progress. Wilfred is swinging his club with a lot of force, but doesn't moderate his energy well as he tries delivering powerful swings and exhausts himself quickly. Matthild doesn't adapt well to trying to change her melee combat style. Finally Gerlind has the same issues as Wilfred from her lack of endurance along with a lack of honed strength.
After the getting the lay of the land with the first group Zabu finds much more success with the second. Through direction, and some yelling, Braderock is able to at least develop his combat instincts to avoid hesitation during a fight. Junissa comes into the training with a familiarity with basic weapons, but by the end she seems clearly more comfortable with some of the larger, bulker blades and clubs.
Maybe most surprisingly Benyan adapts reasonably enough to weapon use and Zabu's training. "You aren't hiding me away in any basement or using me as some sacrifice. I'm worth far more than to be wasted any which way. Now show me how to fight or stop blabbering!" Although through the training it isn't clear if Benyan's enthusiasm is out of spite for Zabu and show up the gnome, but there are meaningful results out of it.

Neth 28th
The clouds are dark today and carry a wealth of rain on Fort Azure. Still the sign of the undead approach is clear and impossible to miss. Watching from the watchtowers you see signs of their approach through the forest and heading straight toward your fort as certain in the heading as a wayfinder's needle.
It is another twenty minutes before they reach your gates. An army of armored and armed skeletons and zombies that move in rank and file. More than fifty in number, but difficult to gain a more accurate count than that. They halt for a moment in unison as they reach within range of your fort and hold for a few moments letting the rain run along their bone and dead flesh.
Then, in unison once more, they move forward along the road without any care or attention to one another and their focus on breaching your fort. However your defenses prove solid in hampering their attack and holding them at bay for the moment.
As it starts I want to hear how well your defenses, attacks, and training pay off.
Kornel: Was any of that knowledge you gave able to pay off for any of the villagers? How do you fight the undead?
Meadow: How well do your snares work and is anyone you trained able to capitalize on them?
Jayma: How many of the undead are caught by the set of pit traps. How are you able to capitalize on that as they crawl out?
Brekovi: Are the villagers able to land solid blows with their ammunition and are any of the undead outright broken apart as a limb is destroyed by a snare?
Zabu: How much of that training paid off for your pupils? Are you on the attack with a ranged weapon or instead looking for any sign of an undead breaching the walls?
For everyone: I also want to know where you want to be placed on the map as well as your exploration actions.

Somewhat refreshed from her fitful rest, Jayma climbs up the scaffolding she had helped erect and places herself on the battlements near the first set of pit traps she and Junissa had dug previously. She was interested in how well the pits would perform, but also wanted to be on hand to try and slow any of the undead that made it past them.
She watches as the advancing undead work their way through Meadow's snares, but there are too many and quite a few make it past to fall into her pits. Some of the undead shatter from the impact of the fall while others are crushed by their brethren as more and more of the undead fall in and land on top of those trying to scramble out.
Remembering what Kornel said about skeletons and zombies, Jayma casts a continuous stream of Electric Arc and Telekinetic Projectile spells using sharp slashing rocks against the zombies that manage to climb out of the pits. For the skeletons, she uses Telekinetic Projectile spells exclusively, but with nice rounded bludgeoning stones instead. She moves along the battlements as needed to keep the surviving undead within range of her spells.
Despite her best efforts, some of the undead manage to survive the pits and her barrage of spells to advance farther towards the fort.

When he first sees the undead approaching, Brekovi fires off a couple of shots with his crossbow at the zombies. He watches in anticipation as they approach Jayma’s pit trap.
Just before they get there, he calls out “Slingers! Concentrate fire on the skeletons! Keep those bullets flying, we’ve got plenty!” Let’s see if the necromancer who sent them anticipated this!
He watches as the first undead fall into the pit and the others behind them try to go around the pit. He shouts in joy as the first few hit the snares, causing them to slow down as their feet become entangled. Unfortunately the undead behind them keep pressing forward. The whole area with the snares becomes a jumble of undead packed tightly together and pushing against each other. Any that fall get trampled by the undead behind them as they continue to mindlessly press forward. Some get pushed over to the side and end up falling into the pit.
The whole advance is slowed just as they are coming into effective sling range.
“Keep firing!”
When he isn’t shouting encouragement to the slingers, he uses his Telekinetic Projectile to target Zombies with jagged bits of metal, especially any that are climbing out of the pit or were tripped by a snare. He throws in a few uses of Acid Splash where they are most densely packed.
“We will run out of Skeletons before we run out of ammunition! Keep concentrating your fire on the skeletons!”
According to Kornel, the skeletons were the ones with all the resistances. The more of those we get rid of, the better our spells should work on the rest.
Leaving it to Zabu to comment on how accurate the slingers are.

Meadow reluctantly takes Brekovi and Rakka's advice and after securing a spare sling and ammunition goes to rest in the barracks. Sleep does not come easily however and she rises several times to worriedly walk the battlements and deliver a few words of encouragement to the frightened villagers.
Once she wakes she secures her geckos in the barracks with instructions to everyone to release the them if the fort is in danger of falling. Though they are unlikely to do anything more than flee it is preferable to a certain death at the hands of the undead horde.
Meadow and a handful of villagers with missile weapons await the opportunity to fire upon the undead once they emerge from the forest. The various snares and occasional bear trap work better than she could have hoped. The two most ambitious traps positioned nearest the woods work wonderfully, capturing a skeleton and a zombie and catapulting them into the air. The zombie is unable to free itself and dangles helplessly while the skeleton eventually falls as a leg bone separates. Several skeletons and zombies become ensnared and tear off a leg in their relentless advance, causing their fellows behind them to trip and fall. The curve in the road becomes a choke point as undead fall to snares and pits. Meadow's skirmishers' missile fire is enthusiastic but not as effective as it could be. Only the fact that the targets are so ensnarled by the various traps enable any real accuracy by the majority of the villagers.
I'm assuming that Meadow can manage to scrounge up a sling and a half dozen bullets. If this is unreasonable please let me know.

Shagrat seems a good candidate to train some of the villagers, since he has skill with the blade and is quick.
Though he could have taken a more tactful approach in training the villagers, he decides to indoctrinate them in combat following goblin rules: chaos and ingenuity were good teachers, and you always had to watch out for a bugbear.
"Okay, everyone practice fighting everyone at same time! Hey! Listen to Shagrat! Go! Go! Go! Hey fattie, you want to get eaten by zombie! Stop doing that!" he shouts while throwing rocks at the combatants.

In an unnerving display of calmness, Kornel watches the unliving enemy's advance with a perfectly neutral expression and relaxed mien. The sight and sound of the marching army of corpses does nothing to him: while many others are visibly repulsed and stressed, Kornel leans back and offers a few words of encouragement.
There had been two things Kornel was worried about, he explains: unpredictability, and archers among the skeletons. Just because the enemy is mindless doesn't mean you can predict their movements. Luckily, it seems the fort's advantageous location mitigates most of that possibility, as the enemy is forced to move alongside the road. Had the enemy been less predictable and rained arrows on the defenders, Kornel points out, this siege may have been much bloodier already.
Every few seconds he shoots beaming rays of divine magic at the horde, and glances at the armed townsfolk around him. The Pathfinder agents are experienced enough to know what they're doing, but it's hard to see if the townsfolk are exploiting Kornel's advice or not. Maybe the townsfolk are slinging blunt objects at the skeletons, but that does no good if it misses and hits a fleshy zombie instead.
"What they lack in brains they make up for in tenacity," Kornel advices, "Good thing we have both, eh?"

Zabu is almost casual in his approach to the walls when he wakes up after his rest. He goes through his usual scratching routine, armors up and is chewing on some food by the time he mounts the parapets.
He even chats with those nearby calmly as the hours pass, though he does pull out a javelin and lean on it, after a while. His only acknowledgement of the terrible weather is to wipe water out of his eyes every now and then.
When the undead approach he straightens up and squints as they all stop at once. "Well, they're not just meandering aimlessly," he comments.
He grins as a collective gasp goes up from the villagers as the undead start their charge.
"Aw...don't wet yourselves. Look on the bright side, you were never going to be able to hit them from so far away.
"But now they're getting closer, so maybe you should start firing.
"Aim at the ones crawling out of the pits or stuck in the snares. They're easier to hit when they're moving slower."
The villagers have mixed results. Wilfred is trying to fling his stones so hard that they go winging off in all directions, including back into the fort. The couple times he hits do serious damage, but it's not much. Gerlind only slings out a few stones before complaining about her arm hurting.
"Don't worry, it'll never hurt again when a zombie chews it off," Zabu comments, which gets her working again, though in a surly, lethargic way.
Matthild has problems too until Zabu approaches her. "Just do it the halfling way!" he shouts. Her next 3 shots are hits, though it takes all three to down a skeleton.
Braderock isn't going to win any accuracy contests but keeps repeating the steps over and over making him a rhythmic machine. The amount of stones he's able to sling out means that some of them are effective. "Drop stone in pouch, begin spin, point other arm, take aim, breath deep, release! Drop stone in pouch..."
Junissa proves to be as powerful as Wilfred in her slinging but is a bit more careful and hits more often.
But Benyan proves to be the star, even more so when Zabu comes up and leans on the crenellation next to him to watch how he does. "Oh, so, completely forgotten form, have you? Just making it up as you go along? Probably why you missed that one. Or were you trying to hit that patch of mud?
"Miss. Miss. Oh, you got one, I guess a crippled pig does find a mushroom every now and then," Zabu comments.
The next shot not only catches a skeleton right between the eyes, it hits with enough force to crack the skull in half and cause the whole thing to fall in a clatter of bones.
Benyan grins. "What do you think of that, you half size ruffian?"
"I think if you're twice the farmer that you are a warrior, you may actually deserve half as much money as you get," the gnome replies.
The human scowls and thinks it through then curses and redoubles his efforts, taking down two more skeletons in quick succession.
Zabu makes sure his back is turned before he grins as he's walking away.

A number are common skeletons, but three has bits of flesh clinging from their frames and the rain draws a constant and unending stream of blood from their bones. Each of the undead have scimitar and shortbow on their backs they engage the fort's defenders.

Seeing all the menacing creatures stumbling towards the castle, Twyl was somewhat apprehensive at first, but his mistress was clearly not the least bit worried. After a short while, Twyl relaxed a little and continued to watch all the excitement from his usual place on her shoulders. He enjoyed it when his mistress was in a good mood, and she was currently in a very good mood indeed.
He heard the cry at the same time as his mistress. Her mood switched from glee to concern as she ran along the walls, and Twyl started to become anxious. When she finally stopped running, he could see that some of the nasty hollow people had climbed onto the wall.
His mistress's mood soured further as she watched her friends fighting the creatures, and he knew that things had taken a turn for the worse. As he always did in these situations, he dove into his mistress's backpack to wait things out.

Apologies for the omission, I had forgotten about an ability of the skeletons upon death.
As Meadow's arrow sent the skeleton off the edge of the keep, fragments of the bone shattered and exploded, skittering off the nearby stone and catching the one of the gore covered skeletons in the explosive blast of shards.

The undead place their full attention on the approaching Pathfinders as the other targets fall back. One draws a rusted blade and attempts to drive it into Zabu, but misses by just a breath. Another of the bloody undead runs and and tries to dig claws into Zabu, but it also fails to connect.
The last of the blood drenched undead, lacking any avenue to attack Zabu instead goes for the next target, charging around the tower and manage a significant wound on Shagrat.

Stride, Cast a Spell: Magic Weapon

GM Blazej |

The other skeletons follow the others in attacking the nearest living creatures. The one Zabu punched draws the scimitar and swings it at the gnome warrior. The first barely misses again, but the second leaves a minor wound.
The second skeleton takes the most direct route to engage with the pair and only manages a poor single swipe of the claw after moving through the melee.

Kornel hurries along the fort's battlement, towards the brutal melee. At the paraphet on top of the main gate, he spellcasts a glowing lance of antinecrotic energy, launching it at the skeleton invaders.

While the gore covered skeletons are agile, their lack of substance is made apparent as Kornel directs his magic toward one. It body is unable to throw off the spell and causes it to stagger as Kornel rips away at the core of necromantic energy holding it together.
It is still standing after the blast, but only by a small margin.
Red - Fortitude vs Disrupt Undead: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Red critically fails the saving throw, takes 10 damage and is enfeebled 1 for 1 round.

Jayma does not like the look of those blood drenched skeletons. They seem a lot more dangerous than the regular looking skeletons that Meadow so easily dispatched with her bow.
Picking her target, she snatches three times at the air around her and gathering her hands together to her chest, thrusts them forward at the creature while yelling, "seek sanguinary skeleton"
Three darts of pure energy fly from her now open hands directly towards the middle (pink) blood drenched skeleton. At the last instance, they swerve around Shagrat and plunge into the creature's chest.
Actions 1, 2, 3: Cast a Spell: Magic Missile (3-actions) targeting the pink blood drenched skeleton.

Jayma's barrage of missiles are just short of bringing down the undead. Blood obscures most of the damage, but broken bones are barely holding together.
13 damage to Pink
Meadow's magically guided shot just barely connects one shot with another of the undead. Silence is also able deliver a supportive attack to break the skeleton. Silence has a difficult time dealing more than minor damage to the skeleton.

What a difference being Berzerk made that round! 3 hits turned to 1 and the lowest damage being the only one that hit. Almost makes me regret doing this...
Now that he's up close and personal, Zabu lets out a snarl that shifts steadily to a more bestial roar, his jaw extending into a muzzle and his canines extending until they protrude below his chin. At the same time, his fingernails grow and strengthen into claws.
The reddish bloodied one it looking like it's on its last legs (again) so he goes after it.

If the bite takes down Red, the claw will go to Pink.
Actions - 1: Rage; 2: Strike (Jaws); 3: Strike (Claw). Current stats are those in Parenthesis in my tag line.

GM Blazej |

The blood soaked skeletons are just barely too slow to evade Zabu's attacks. Even the skeleton's resilient frame isn't enough to avoid being shattered by Zabu's jaws or claws.
4 damage to Red and 3 damage to Pink. Both destroyed.

Shagrat flinches as one of the skeletons strikes him with a significant wound, but retaliates nonetheless with his own blades.
His blows are accurate, though deal less damage than he would have hoped.

Clubs and staves cost 0 gp, and there is no reason you couldn't have grabbed one while we were arming all the citizens.

GM Blazej |

Shagrat: As Brekovi said. Even if you didn't before you certain are able to grab one after this fight.
As the algae covered skeleton pushes past Shagrat, the goblin scores a critical blow instantly piercing through the heart of the skeleton and sending bone fragments flying everywhere at center of the melee striking the other skeletons and the melee Pathfinders.
Crit on skeleton for 7+d8 damage. Destroys green causing it to explode into bone fragments.
Bone Shard Explosion - Slashing: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Pink Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Black Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Because it was killed mid-move during the AoO, Shagrat and Zabu need to make basic Reflex saves (DC 10) against the 6 slashing damage.
Starting his turn with only one foe left before him, Shagrat manages to connect with each of his weapons once. Like many other blows in the battle, they are only barely connecting and do far less damage than they would a living opponent.
3 damage and 0 damage on the hits
Even as their allies break and shatter, the other skeletons show no hesitation as they press their attack forward. The blood flows over the black clothed skeleton and in the wake of the rivulets, the skeleton's bones begin to knit back together. It draws it's blade and swings it down upon the goblin fighter. Only one of the blows connects, but for a heavy amount of damage that puts the goblin in a dire position.

Brekovi runs to the battlements over the gate. Seeing how badly Shagrat is hurt, he suggests "Quaff one of the healing potions that we got, Shagrat!"
Stride x3
In case people missed it: everyone has at least one minor healing potion, Shagrat and Zabu have two minor healing potions. Since no one else said they wanted extra, I assume the remainder are still with Brekovi.

![]() |

"Ah, lighten up, Brekovi my friend. Here, have a taste of MY POWER!"
Kornel raises his voice to a shout, perhaps for the first and last time in this mission. As he does, divine magic, glowing in shades of lime green, whirls around him in a vortex. Kornel charges up, and spellcasts a burst of healing energy.
Healing / positive damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
(Black gets a basic Fort save, DC 17.)
◆◆◆ Cast a Spell: Heal. (All allies sans Meadow are healed, and black enemy is damaged.)

GM Blazej |

The healing wave tears through several undead still below the wall as well as heal the party. However the remaining blood covered skeleton is able to barely hold itself from being purged by the positive energy.
Fortitude Black vs Heal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
2 damage to Black.

Refl: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Zabu just barely avoids getting a face full of exploding bone and then a wave of healing washes over him, getting him back up to full health.
"Shoulda run, runt!" he declares to the white garbed skeleton, which stands head, shoulders and ribcage above him.
He moves so that he's in a better position for what he's about to do then grabs the skeleton by the ribs and shoves.
Athletics vs. Fort DC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
