Hello, everyone. Come on into the discussion thread and introduce yourselves and your character.
I am a grognard. Been playing since the late 70's on and off. Living and working in the eastern US time zone, near Boston.
We've got three, but I'm hoping for more. We'll give them a chance to trickle in while I prep for the game.
I'm looking to start some time next week.
Oh. And dot into the game thread if you like.
Staar |
Hello there, bringing my little power house to the table - quite good at melee DPS, but very frail (still saving up for that big armor).
Shokil |
Hi there.
Shokil here is my attempt at a ranged soldier. Not that he has ever got a chance to use his sniper rifle yet.
My TZ is a little odd (I'm down in New Zealand) but I normally post a couple of times a day.
I do need to level up.

Staar! Whatever happens, don't panic! I won't be around to save you.
That was a good table. Great group.

Indeed! This character's shortcomings were mostly solved by a massive reroll, but now she's even more of a necrograft addict.
Just finished 3-00, quite underwhelming in comparison - it never felt like a TPK was right around the corner at all.
therealthom |
Welcome, FluffSeeker. I will just point out that there's no starship combat in this scenario, but make what you want. My first Starfinder PC was an ace pilot operative. I love the ace pilot theme, and operative is a great class.
Someday she'll make level 3.
SuperS!!! Of course you're welcome. Always happy to game with you. Maybe this PC can avoid Rar'gul's luck.
I circled back to the boards. Ietsuna hasn't posted there again, and cmlobue has expressed interest.

Who's playing what -- and at what level? I hope we all fit in one tier.

What was the party? Two biohackers, two technomancers built to buff, solarian and mystic?
Full disclosure: Implications in previous posts aside, Ears did not at any time in that scenario save Staar. She handled the majority of combat, took many more than one for the team, and generally kept us all safe. And it did seem like we were all going to die more than once.
Kneepuncher |
I loved 3-00 until the moment I
I'll be playing Kneepuncher, a 2nd-level halfling vanguard that has a love-hate relationship with his prosthetic arm (attempting final task on Possessed Augmentation boon), so save me a CR 4 to punch in the knees. Needless to say, melee focused. Cleans up real nice.
therealthom |
Kneepuncher, I see you're relatively new to the Paizo boards. Welcome. This has been a very good place for a fairly long time. I hope you enjoy it here.
Two things to know, of many. There's a one hour limit on editing posts. "Dot in" is a colloquialism here that generally means:
- Make a post in the gameplay thread
- Confirm the boards accepted the post
- Delete the post
Hmmm. List is not functioning as desired. Sometimes things break.
Even though you've deleted the post, the boards will remember you made one and will keep the campaign on your campaign page.
And another thing, keep it smurfy.

Female Korasha Lashunta (with both alternate racial traits) Death-touched Solar weapon Solarian level 2.
I wouldn't mind playing this in 3-4, considering Oda and Shokil's levels.

This time we had 3 operatives (mine included), 1 envoy, 1 technomancer and 1 mystic - pretty much a group to destroy any skill challenges. But even without a tank or any decent melee damage, combat was hardly a challenge.
Well, she's much more optimized now (except for all the credits wasted on useless augments) - I believe luck was on my side during that special.
Bele Cuervo |
FluffSeeker here...
The fluff is pretty much set and I've been tinkering with the crunch and will finalise it tomorrow (my time) - and I'll be ready to go within 24 hours (subject to any errors and omissions that I'd gladly amend) :)
Shokil |
I'm happy to play at either tier. I'm only 3, not 4, so should not overshadow at low level play (and lets face it, a halfling solider won't overshadow much).
I've avoided buying higher level gear, but if we play at higher tier may revise that decision.
Oda Umox |
Oda reporting in.
An FYI. Oda is mute. She does sign in Common and also communicates through her datapad, stomps and gestures.
Kneepuncher |
I'm interested in seeing how Kneepuncher goes - it will be nice to see what an effective vanguard looks like.
This may be overly optimistic, especially since his prosthetic is still giving him a penalty, but I will do my best.
CrimsonDM |
This is the link to the google Slides file that we'll be using for maps, etc.
Please try to connect and fill out a line on slide 2. Let me know if you can't get in. I think I have the permissions write, but then I always think that I have the permissions right.
Kneepuncher |
I am not, especially since that's a B in my name, not a G. ;)

And I'm sure you'll do fine. :)
My poor unfortunate vanguard that Thom was referring to would make anyone else look like a combat master! About the only useful thing he's done is take the majority of the damage to keep everyone else relatively healthy.
Saeron Kasari |
Looking at the levels across the party, it seems we might be going more for the higher tier, so I'll throw Saeron's hat in the ring for this one.
Just need to finalise some post-adventure shopping.
therealthom |
Sorry, guys. Got a bunch of work dropped in my lap. I was just looking at the party PC's levels. They are 1,2,2,3,4,4 ; totals 16. Average 2.6. We're evenly distributed between upper and lower tier PCs.
The Ragi's said he doesn't mind playing up, but this might be pushing it, especially for Bele. I think there's a big increase in challenge level between the two tiers. Bele could very easily die, or end up feeling useless.
Fluffseeker, how do you feel about that specifically?
We could split the tables. I'd go back to recruiting and see if we can get a few more.
Let me know how you all feel.
Shokil |
I'm happy going either way. If we play up, I'll buy some new equipment, but just as happy playing down and keeping my mostly L1 equipment.
Kneepuncher |
I'm good with either tier. KP is hard to kill and is more likely to find someone to satisfy his arm in high tier.
Staar |
It might be the opposite even, a couple level 4 characters will just trounce tier 1-2 monsters, making combat kinda pointless.
therealthom |
OK then. TR's right about tier 3-4 PCs trouncing tier 1-2 combats. I love a party that wants a challenge.
Shokil's got the right idea. Gear up, cause the party is a little weak level-wise. Healing serums are a great option.
On my side, I couldn't get anything done over the weekend. Work, and a stupidly short schedule to do prep for my new driveway, left me no time or energy for prepping this game. (I wish contractor's could plan better. I would have been OK with a firm week's notice instead of "oh 2-6 weeks" which changed to "I'll be there in 4 days"
Staar |
I love a party that wants a challenge.
It's all fun and games until the CR 4 technomancer shows up...
therealthom |
...with his pet solarian.
Easy questions first: the driveway is in. I had to take a half-day 'off' work to clean up some grading before they paved. My work project deadline is demanding big hours so I had to make those hours up.
The driveway runs right along the property line, and the paver did not bend the end of the driveway away from that line as we'd agreed. So the driveway might be encroaching on my neighbor's property, and I might be dumping my driveway runoff into his yard and foundation. I'm going to need to do some creative landscaping to create a berm to prevent runoff and throw some top soil over part of the asphalt to clean those issues up.
Harder questions: this game. I've pushed material up to my DM's copy of the shared game presentation, so I think I'm ready to roll. I will do my best to give you at least a post a day for the next two weeks except for next weekend when we visit friends in Maine. After two weeks posting will accelerate.
The first game post will be up shortly . In the near future can you all please provide me with the usual information -- player and character name, and organized play number. We can slot boons after your mission briefing. Also, if you want the chronicle more completely filled out, please provide your starting cash, fame, and reputation, along with how much you are spending on gear.
therealthom |
Oh, a note: This adventure takes place after the Starfinder rescue raid in the Scoured Stars. The unavoidable spoiler is that there are a lot of traumatized Starfinders trying to rebuild their lives. Actual knowledge of the Scoured Stars raid is not necessary to play this scenario. It does stand on its own, aside from the rationale for The Respite.

Apologies, everyone for the delay - been a little pressed at work.
I hope to get to a proper introductory Gameplay post in the next few hours.

Thanks Thom.
Seems pretty straight forward. He's probably just hit the town for a big night out and in the morning couldn't remember where he left his comms unit.
We'll probably find out he's crashing at his buddy's place and go pick him up and bring him home. That's how these things usually turn out, right?
Staar |
Seems like a regular whodunnit - it matches very well with Bele Cuervo's narration.
