It isn't exactly the greatest negotiation for peace and cooperation in the history of the Pathfinder Society, especially since there are so few of them that the lizardfolk understand but, between Mylvwara and Kal'Ryon's words, Ichio's non-violent posture and Shardra's impressive mime (which earns claw clicks from a couple of the observers,) the lizardfolk leader's body grows noticeably less tense, even friendly.

"I am Oosthic, leader of the Muckmouth tribe. Be careful in the room beyond, allies of the Muckmouth Tribe, the Aspis smooth-skins have removed our eggs from the hatchery and two bow carriers with identical markings guard the room now, shooting down any who try to enter," she tells them.

I get nastier when I've had a few...or so I've been told.. he says with a chuckle.

Ruby Phoenix Tournament Games I've Played (Session Tracker)

Oosthic looks on placidly as the group speaks words she doesn't understand. If they are translated she seems pleased by Ichio and Valeros' words and, perhaps strangely, even by Shardra's.

The party makes their way to the next chamber where a small waterfall drums over several protruding stones before crashing into a large pool. A strange, pulsating light emanating from a nearby cave mouth fill this pool with a vivid and intense rainbow of colors. Torn nets litter the water. Parts of the netting are still attached to the shore, but most have been torn off, and now circle the pool in the current created by the waterfall.

A pair of identical looking men lollygag at the other end of the chamber, one of them twirling his bow in an elaborate manner. "Oh yeah? Watch this," the other says, starting to do the same until they notice you.

A word does not pass between them but instantly two arrows are knocked and finding targets. But only one of them fires, the other one starting to...sing?

"And another one down and another gone and another one bites the dust..."

Barely registering the two shafts cannoning off her plate armour or the mild bruising that results, Shardra stamps noisily forward, ahead of the alchemist. As she does she guestures with one hand at the water of the cavern pool - in a moment it rises up, surrounding her in a coocoon of spinning water. Arriving within 30' of the archer, she points a forefinger at him, waggling it disapprovingly at him. "Wrong decision"

"You gotta do better than that," one of the archers says as he ducks around Diazepane's throw. It lands in the water and leaves a solid chunk of ice the size of a man's head, the spray from it coating the archer's leg in frost.

Speaking of spray, Mylvwara's wind wall kisses the top of the pool, send up a mist around it for a couple feet.

Valeros rushes one of the archers but can't swing.

Ichio rushes the other and makes an effective stab.

Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

That's enough bad luck for him, though and Shardra's additional bad luck does not affect him.

Wanting tactically to control the battlefield, slowing any potential reinforcement and blocking any potential escape route, Shardra advances up to almost within reach of the melee. She glances up the tunnel to the north-east, guestures, and calls downs a sickening entanglement in a 40' radius reaching up to the edge of the combat.

"No escape, Aspis. Throw down your sword." What can she see up the tunnel?

sickening entanglement, DC17:

This spell causes tall grass, weeds, and other plants to wrap around creatures in the area of effect or those that enter the area. Creatures that fail their save gain the entangled condition. Creatures that make their save can move as normal, but those that remain in the area must save again at the end of your turn. Creatures that move into the area must save immediately. Those that fail must end their movement and gain the entangled condition. Entangled creatures can attempt to break free as a move action, making a Strength or Escape Artist check. The DC for this check is equal to the DC of the spell. The entire area of effect is considered difficult terrain while the effect lasts.

If the plants in the area are covered in thorns, those in the area take 1 point of damage each time they fail a save against the entangle or fail a check made to break free. Other effects, depending on the local plants, might be possible at GM discretion.

Valeros manages one hit out of his flurry of swings.

Meanwhile, Shardra throws some magic down the hall they haven't explored seeing a glittering mosaic sprawls across the cave floor in a moat of incandescent light. These mottled patterns of radiance undulate in an endless cascade of glorious color. Some sort of door, almost completely lost in the blaze of light, sits recessed in the far wall. A pair of better metal snakes await them in the chamber.

Diazepane does do better than that, dropping 2 fresh bombs directly on the pink garbed twin. Covered in frost, he falls over backwards like a statue.

Both Kal'Ryon and Ichio miss the remaining archer.

The purple singer pauses for a moment as his brother is taken out of the fight but then he continues to sing. "Plenty of ways that you can hurt a man and bring him to the ground." There seems to be a bit extra meaning to his words.

The party takes one look at the two metal snakes and realize that they are adamantine cobras. Complex constructs made out of that metal, they are quite resistant to physical damage (DR10/-) and spells (SR16) and, as constructs they are immune to mind affecting effects. They also have a poison bite.

Diazepane does not have neutealize poison.

If we have two minutes, he will prepare two lesser restoration extracts. If not ... after the battle, then.

Mylvwara casts detect magic over the archers' gear to help Ichio.

Should we use invisibilty sphere and try to just avoid the snakes?

Ichio and Mylvwara find - +1 ghost touch undead bane arrow of ancient Taldor design on one of the archers. Otherwise they are equipped identically (so double each of the below items) - potion of cure serious wounds, +1 studded leather, dagger, longbow with 20 arrows, rapier, amulet of natural armor +1, cloak of resistance +1, ring of protection +1, 200 gp.

Bombs and spells won't be affected by DR, correct? Or do they do half damage? I confuse PF1 and PF2.

I'm all for avoiding combat if possible, no matter what the answer is. But if we have to fight, just try to pin them down and everyone with spells can just blast away.

Also Diazepane can make people embiggened. That gives an extra half die of damage.

Energy damage bypasses DR, so the bombs should still have 100% effectiveness. Kal does +22* on his damage rolls (with 3-4 attacks a round) while enlarged, so even DR 10 means he can do some reasonable damage. He also has at least one more shocking grasp for electrical damage. Avoiding combat is good by me, but its probably best that we are ready for if (when?) it goes wrong

Shardra examines the twin assailants look with interest, taking, if others are happy for her to do so, the amulet of natural armour. She is most interested however in the ancient Taldan arrow.

Turning it over in her hands she blows softly upon it. Moments later, a flurry of images form out of a blue mist streaming from the shaft:

- a tall heroic Taldan man bearing an impressive walrus-style mustache and a silver longbow over one shoulder;
- a scene of bloody carnage in a woodland ambush, the Taldan detatchment falling under a deluge of attackers;
- a sinewy muscular hobgoblin lurking in the shadows, stalking a figure through the night-time streets of a city;
- a shelf in a shuttered merchant's store, dust and neglect accumulating on every surface.

"This" exhales a flushed Shardra in an emotional voice you have not heard from her before, "is a storied item with tales to tell. An arrow which has left echoes through the years and across continents. These are the echoes I joined the Pathfinder Society to hear!"

She takes it, and protectively folds it into her pack. She has an avaricious demeanour more akin to a dwarven love of gold: most out of character for the terse and cold Dwarf you have been travelling with.

Shardra begins to (flavour) cast 'Legend Lore' on the ancient enchanted arrow, then curtails it to enjoy the history it will surrender later, when she is alone. This is her thing.

Shardra is too distracted to consider how to circumvert the snake constructs. She would be particularly ineffective against them; but would go along with whatever the others decide.

Alrighty, folks. What's the plan? You won't have a surprise round if you attack but Valeros and Ichio are up before the snakes.

I vote we try to sneak past, and if it doesn't work, then we'll start combat non-optimally. Diazepane will hand Kal'Ryon a Channel Vigor extract - it's only 8 rounds, so it'll be a little tricky to pre-buff.
