The pathfinders take the right fork. This relatively dry cavern is abuzz with activity. A group of lizardfolk is busy packing artifacts into crates and barrels, toiling under the watchful eyes and amid the stern orders of a trio of humans, who bark out their demands and rebukes in Draconic.

Shardra opts to delay until violence breaks out. Then, on this occasion, she feels her assistance is required.

At that point, she moves up then levels a malign stare at the lead human. She chuckles a quiet sinister laugh at his resulting discomfort...

"Aspis. You're done here. Begone!

Misfortune As a standard action, Shardra can force an enemy within 30 feet to roll twice on all ability checks, attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks and take the lower roll for 1 round (Will DC 18 negates). She can’t use misfortune on the same target again for 24 hours

Valeros has the joy of feeling his sword bite perfectly into his opponent.

Piercing plus Sneak Attack: 1d6 + 3 + 3d6 ⇒ (4) + 3 + (4, 6, 6) = 23

The lizardfolk who speaks your language visibly relaxes. And, more slowly, so do the others. They get no closer to the pathfinders but they also do not look like they're going to try to run at any moment.

Essviss looks at the crates with their priceless contents and blinks once, slowly before returning his gaze to you. "They mean nothing to us. The Aspis forced us to bring them here, what they did not bring themselves, from other places. You may do with them as you will."

"We are grateful for your offer of help. I will help you in your helping," he continues and squats down.

He draws a simple but not crude map in the wet dirt of the floor, his long, sharp talon making an effective stylus.

"Here is where the other smooth scales sleep. Most of them are out stealing so no one will be there, now," he says, indicating a chamber that they were able to glance into on the way here.

"Beyond is where our people rest. Most of the tribe is there, now. They are not armed," he says, looking at you all with some suspicion.

"Past that is where once our eggs rested. They have been moved and now two smooth skins with identical markings guard the area. They are very skilled with bows."

Great idea, Diazepane...this is why you're in charge...

So, archers... Do we have 15 minutes free so that Mylvwara can prepare Wind Wall in an empty slot?

In two more levels, with Magaambyan Arcanist, she'll be able to fill empty slots with a minute of prep!

You have plenty of time to make whatever preparations you would like.

"Simply tell them the truth as you have told us the truth," Essviss answers Diazepane.

Moving into the next chamber, this roughly semi-circular chamber contains a number of bedrolls clinging to the shore, as far away from the water as possible, though a number of them are still muddy and moist. These bedrolls are obviously of human make, rather than the typical mud and reed nests of lizardfolk.

As Essviss told you, it is currently deserted.

This is the room just beyond where the fight happened with the two stones surrounded by water and the bedrolls on the side.

Kal'Ryon hears an odd crinkle as he pokes around one of the bedrolls. It is the unmistakable sound of paper.

With distaste he reached in and roots it out, finding a note.

In case anyone doesn't remember, or it didn't become clear in that adventure, Aglorn Desimire was the summoner you guys fought in the cavern under the pyramid in Storming the Diamond Gate.

Moving on to the next chamber, the relatively dry land of this cavern is cluttered with the artifacts of lizardfolk daily life. Small cooking fires, mats, turtle shell bowls, wood utensils, stone knives, and game pieces crafted from rock and shell litter this area. A large group of lizardfolk go about their daily routine, though in a skittish and tense manner.

Upon noticing you, the lizardfolk buzz with hushed activity. Hissing whispers fly back and forth.

Draconic:
"Are they more of the Aspis smooth-skins?"

"They must be for what other smooth-skins would come into our home?"

"They seem different."

"Then they are just different smooth-skin enemies."

A single lizardfolk, her scales dull from age rises from beside a fire and approaches you and speaks.

Draconic:
"Who are you and why have you come? If you are Aspis your master is beyond here, tell her that we are obeying so there is no reason to harm our eggs."

"If you are not Aspis why have you come into our home?"

Mylvwara shakes her head and speaks in their tongue.

”We are not Aspis. We have killed the Aspis at the pyramid and those who hold you in bondage here. We have harmed none of your kin.”

She narrows her eyes, ”The Aspis who hold your eggs hostage: they too shall be defeated.”

"We are not your enemy," Diazepane emphasizes (in Draconic). "There is a trail of live lizardfolk and dead smooth skins that can attest to that. Will you allow us to pass through your camp?"

Lacking the requisite language skills to communicate with the tribal elder, Shardra adopts a charactistically taciturn strategy - mime.

She points out each of the Pathfinders in turn; then at the Iruxi; then gives a big double thumbs-up.

She mimes a whip-cracking brute; then slowly, deliberately, draws her finger across her throat, her tongue lolling from the side of her mouth.

She points again at the party, then draws an egg-shaped object in mid-air. She mimes giving the egg to the elder.

Finally, she hefts her weapon, and looks quizzically for the route out of the cave. She points and looks to the elder for confirmation with an inquiring expression.
