Flaming sphere would roll around the wagon. Nothing states that it moves with the wagon, but it does say it can be used to set fire to ships, which means it must stay with ships.

Scaring two of the horses would impart a hefty penalty to the opposing Drive check, but they’re harnessed in quite securely so they wouldn’t be able to just run off.

Hey all. I'm offering a new home-brew game here. I'm not making it exclusive, but anybody from here will get strong consideration.

Silence takes a full round to cast, normally -- we didn't see him doing that and shoot him a lot? I mean, I can roll the ball of fire in silence either way, so no big deal for me, but I just wanted to confirm.

Shoot I didn’t see that about the casting time. He’s in the process of casting it then. Feel free to try to disrupt him.

It will take a concentration check to concentrate on the flaming sphere to move it. If you fail, it will just stay put, not go out or anything.

I think Richard failed the concentration check to cast on the moving wagon anyway though.

I'm assuming I can roll the ball onto the caster? If not, I'll go for the direct blast.

You can try but he gets a Reflex to avoid.

You can also go for the direct blast. It takes a move action to move the ball, not a standard so you can do both

It looks fun, but I think I'm full-up on games for now. If I try and manage too many, they all suffer.

Is the flaming sphere still pressing against the caster? If so, she'll leave it there to play with him.

She doesn’t really have any way to know that, unfortunately. Chances are pretty good that the guy has taken the opportunity to move away.

Ok, folks. I'm going to be heading out of town for the next two weeks to a place where I have no wifi and the towers are spotty -- all that to say, my access to the interwebs will be sketchy at best from tomorrow (Saturday the 31) until the Monday the 16th.

I imagine I'll pop in a bit at night when possible, but, don't count on me over the period. Feel free to bot as necessary -- Morgana's probably going to try to stick with her prepared spells at this point (snowballs and magic missiles for the win -- unless there's a way to web 'em, even better).

Understood. I’m going to be spotty next week (Tues-Thurs).

The bad guys are spreading out this time. They learned their lesson!

Okay, I'm back! Now we can--

Oh.

Came here to post that I’m going camping till Thursday and that my reception may be bad and I see Morgana did the same.

I love the contract idea.

If this were an IRL table-top game, this would be the point where the GM and 3/4 of the players are putting in the work to create the contract (or the rolls for the creation of the contract), and you'd have the one player (possibly playing a rogue!) who would get impatient and say that while the others were writing the contract, he'd tell the NPC what they wanted to know. When challenged, he'd say that it was "in character."

I have no desire to do that (nor would Ty), but it's just an anecdote based on similar experiences.

“In character” is used as an excuse for all sorts of crappy RP decisions that suck the fun out for the group in favour of one player.

I once played a Ranger tricked out to be a scout. I was quite excited to play a scouting character, even with the risks of being in front and alone. Oh, and my character had a beard.
Another player makes a feral “raised by wolves” druid who doesn’t speak any language (in a PbP game so already we’re in trouble), who has superstitious fears about demons with beards. First time my character sneaks ahead and returns to report, the feral character goes beserk and starts shillelaghing me, because his character “didn’t see my character disappear so assumed he must be a demon using magic because he has a beard”.

Needless to say, we all agreed that this feral character wasn’t going to work, so the player made another Druid from the same order who arrived to send feral druid home and take her place, except new druid wasn’t going to accompany the party until my Ranger had formally apologized for traumatizing feral druid. Strangely, that game imploded shortly thereafter.

I hate when there's a troublesome player who blows up a group. I will say, as the GM, I would have dropped a giant "Nope, strike two" on that bit of ridiculousness ("How dare you terrorize the person by existing?").

The contract is only to tell Kreel what we were doing in the Arch and how we avoided his divinations, in return for him not harming or hindering us when we decide it's time for us to leave Cheliax, correct?

I'm not saying don't answer his question, but I am pointing out that I don't think we have to.

And before Traeve roped us into going to this other city, our objective was to get the bloodstone we have back to Absalom, right?

Technically, your objective was to find them all. You didn’t know when you left Absalom that they had been split up.

Tolion told you to find the cloak. Genedair (and Valla) told you the cloak was prophetically connected to finding the bloodstones and Sir Rollynd told you the vision he got from Iomedae that your group was destined (or needed) to find the bloodstones and he needed to help.

Finding the three missing bloodstones is the main plot driver of this campaign while simultaneously dealing with the fallout of Masoumi’s impossible spread of power turning the world upside down.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. I agree that our overall objective is to find them all.

I’m going to need to throw together some maps for this. Somehow I never got around to it when I was writing this module.

The gist is that this is a naval base, so one complete side is ocean and docks. A wall extends twenty feet into the harbour on both sides, enclosing the fort yard. In the yard are two large warehouses of supplies, a two-storey barracks building for recruits, a smaller two-storey officers’ barracks, adjoining a one-storey office building with holding cells.

Does everybody here have discord? A game I play in has a discord channel, mostly as an alternate discussion thread, but we’ve been using it for one really cool thing: announcing when we’ve made a combat post and who is next. In effect, it means you get a notification when it’s your turn to post a combat action, so if you have a couple free minutes, you can pop on and post your next rolls, speeding up combat considerably.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

I do not. I've heard of it but I don't know anything about it. And personally, I'm not really into social media type things. When it comes to ANYTHING resembling social media, Paizo is it. And that's only because it's D&D. If this wasn't a site that hosted D&D games, I wouldn't even be here.

I don't do twitter, facebook, and pretty much everything else you could name. To be honest, I HATE social media. But that's just me. I'm pretty much a caveman in that regard. :P

But to be fair I don't really know if that's what Discord is, but that's what I would guess. *shrugs* And even if it's not, I'm not sure it's something I really feel like I'd care to sign up for and all that jazz. Way too much work for this bum. (Plus, I'm not EVEN CLOSE to be any type of computer genius. I'm the furthest from that. Actually, if you go as far as you can... go a little bit further and I'm the guy who's even BEYOND that). :P

Discord is basically private chat rooms. A lot of folks use it to actually play PBP games but it’s harder to incorporate dice rolling. The advantage of it is that one gets push notifications when there’s a new post.

However, it was just a thought. We certainly don’t need to.

I've used it before for a PbP, but I wasn't a fan of RPGing in that format. If it's just for quick notices and updates regarding turn order, I'd be willing to try it.

Hey, this feels kind of like a "gotcha" moment. Is it very reasonable for the PCs to believe that these two guys were dead, and so now they're undead? Or is the language above just meant for the players so that we're projecting our assumptions to the characters so that they are actually murdering these guys.

It also hasn't been stated that the sailors are aggressive. They're just standing up.

Just looking for clarification on any of that.

This is just me circumventing the Knowledge check that you guys can’t possibly fail to determine that they are some form of zombies, for the purpose of narrative momentum. The creatures are clearly aggressive. Not trying to trick you here, other than the misdirect with the corpses actually being undead.

Gonna be a crazy busy these next couple of days for me so I'll be out until Sunday afternoon/evening. Apologies.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

You know, I just got on here about 20 minutes ago - been a long day - and I'm going through 14 posts! As I'm reading I'm looking at the map and going: "How is anybody attacking anybody. The 4 guards are like 50' away. This makes no sense."

And then I finally get to the point to where they're all dead and those are a whole new set of guards. Man that was fast. :)

Boy when Ty gets that sneak attack damage, my gosh that is nasty. Especially when you roll so stinking awesome! Man those were some good rolls. Really got the bang for your buck on those 2d6 rolls for sure.

They can be few and far between, that's for sure. The dice are trending the other way for now. The Evisceration daggers Nazard put in the game are also pretty nice.

I'll be away on a family holiday starting tomorrow (the 27) and back the 5th -- but given the need to unpack with small child, probably not actually able to be online to catch up and post before the 8th.

In the meantime, Morgana'll try to keep up the bluff as long as she can, and she should still have the elemental with her (if it expires, she'll call a new one, though she might change the flavour - and burn spell slots to replenish her Arcane Reservoir).

Understood. Enjoy!

Can I stand in Ty's spot? I'm guessing he's conscious now with Richard's healing but he's prone. But he's conscious. I KNOW he's not about to get up and take an AoO from super bladed lady.

Can I attack around a corner? It REALLY doesn't look like it.

I really don't know what I'm capable of legally doing at this juncture.

You can move into his spot but he’s have to crawl out of it before he could stand. You could also attack through the bars, albeit at a -4 penalty.

Ty is for investigating and taking action against Lady Carus, but he's more concerned with delivering the halfling kid home, first.
