Ready to move on.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

I'm with Ty. Let's roll.

About your new items:

Edward’s gift is an inheritor’s gauntlet with the menacing property. Only the right gauntlet is magical: the other is just a matching one.

Morgana’s and Ty’s haversacks are your standard fare, save that the two are linked, and anything placed in one can be retrieved through either one, so Ty, keep your hands off Morgana’s unmentionables!!

Sir Richard, your item is like a cap of light, with a few tweaks. While worn, the light will automatically activate as soon as you are in dim light or darkness, and provide light as a standard lantern. There is a cover for the metal candle to suppress the light if necessary, but you will suffer a -2 morale penalty to Will saves while the light is suppressed. When the light is allowed to shine, your channel energy is enhanced: the radius of your burst is doubled and no undead are able to benefit from channel resistance against you. If the candle isn’t lit when you channel energy, it briefly comes on when you do.

Agreed, let's go.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Man those are some interesting items. Pretty cool.

And yeah, Ty, let's stay out of people's unmentionables ya unmentionables goer througher! :)

Is Almas a big city? Because I could've bought a Mithral chain shirt as well and still had 1000g left over. I wished I would've stinking thought about that earlier instead of just now. Ugh.

So if we can do that in Almas then that'll be cool. Don't want to be responsible for holding us up here any longer if we're ready to move out.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Per the Gauntlet: Okay seeing how it possesses the menacing property, does that replace the +1 enhancement bonus or the once/day evil-outsider bane for 1 minute ability? Or does it replace both?

Javell DeLeon wrote:

Oh, my, I completely forgot about that part. It replaces the +1, but the evil outsider bane has been replaced with undead bane.

There’s no huge rush in your timeline. You need to find and hire a ship, or if someone has connections...

Anyway, you can buy stuff in Almas or this afternoon if you like. This may be your last chance to do casual shopping in a major city for a very long time. Weapons and armour are important of course, but please don’t neglect mundane camping/adventuring gear. Also, feel free to spend some money on some of the stuff nobody ever buys because they’re all saving up for their next + sword.

Ooohhh okay. Replaces the +1. Got it. And Undead. THAT'S cool.

And good to know about the timeline. That'll work. And hadn't even thought about the mundane gear part. That's a good point.

I have some decent adventuring stuff -- rope, bedroll, rations, mess kit -- now that I've got a bag to put it in.

Wait a second -- GM -- do we know the range on the connection for the haversack? I ask because I have a chalkboard in there. And chalk.

Same plane of existence. You do have to remove items to use them, but I think I see where you’re going with this. Cool!

Good one, Nazard. Man this is going to be interesting. Going to have to put some serious thought into how to respond to that one. Will have to get to it tomorrow evening though. Just too late for me now.

Gonna be fun! :)

Indeed! To be honest, I didn’t think he’d actually go to the meeting. Threw me for bit of a loop there.

If anybody’s wondering, this campaign was originally conceived and written in 2014. Any resemblance to recent political turmoil in a certain former British colony is entirely coincidental, although it has made for excellent fodder seven years later in fleshing out many of the details. Make Absalom Great Again!!

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

LOL! I love it! Oh man that is greatness. "Make Absalom Great Again". So perfect. :)

The parallels between the date the campaign being conceived and today's times are pretty amazing, I gotta say.

And thanks for the compliment! I appreciate it. :)

When you get a chance, could everybody make one final editing pass of your updated character sheets and check the values on the Dice Roll file. Giving things a quick glance, I noticed that Richard's Reflex save is off (should be 1 base, 2 Dex, and 1 house rule for +4 total) and Edward doesn't seem to have selected a mercy. Also, make sure you have included changes in gear, including changes to armour check penalties (Richard, the full plate is -5).

Edward, did you end up buying the mithral shield?

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Yes! He did. And thanks for the heads up on the mercy. I can't believe I didn't put that on there.

And will get him fixed up. There's a few things I've actually got to get on there.

And I'm gonna go through and add a little bit of mundane gear to his sheet if that's cool.

I think they're right, though I have a sudden sense of saving-throw envy compared to the rest of you.

There are two paladins in that list. Never have saving throw envy with paladins around.

I've never understood why people would take a Paladin Archetype that gives up Divine Grace... (especially not to learn to speak Celestial -- lookin' at you, Empyreal Knight)

Well.. maybe for DR/adamantine, especially when your race has a charisma penalty.

I would agree with this in its entirety. About the ONLY archetype I would play that sacrifices Divine Grace is a Stonelord. And that's ONLY because I'm a HUGE fan of dwarves. They are my favorite race. :)

Other than that, I'm NOT sacrificing Divine grace. That's just too awesome of an ability.

And I believe I've got Edward cleaned up now. Will double check one more time just to be sure though. Outside of that, should be good.

Glad you mentioned that, Ty, I was about to throw something out there and I might or might not have caught the edit. :)

Per the Knowledge rolls: Do we roll three times since you have three spoilers? Or do we roll once, and read whichever spoilers that we make the DC on?

The latter.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Thanks! And I don't know why I called them Knowledge rolls. I believe whenever I see spoilers and there's information to be gained, I immediately mentally revert to "knowledge" rolls. Who knows?! :P

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Okay! Edward's got this, bay-bee! He just nailed BOTH rolls! BOOM! Man I love this guy!(Just not in battle. He's garbage during combat) :P

Just give me a sec to get something out there.

Will have to get to the note tomorrow. I got to call it quits tonight.

I am hesitant to provide any advice since it seems to backfire on us, so take whatever I offer with a grain of salt :)

We are on a mission to investigate the phenomenon associated with the ascension of Masoumi and its possible relationship with Arodin. We would like to examine the eye symbol on the Archstone with your supervision and protection. We are also curious about what has happened here that puts the people of Andoran at risk. Our mission is not limited to Andoran, we plan to proceed into Cheliax next and examine the Archstone there as well.

Take all/some/none of the above for the note, whatever you feel best represents our interests.

No, no, no! NEVER be hesitant, bud. I was all for the name dropping. That that was a great idea. It just didn't work out for us this time. Hey, that's the nature of diplomacy! You win some you lose some. Either way, I always find it fun whether we succeed or fail. It creates a cool story regardless. :)

And trust me when I say, there is NO way you folks want ME to come up with it all. I'll bury us in a heartbeat if that's the case. :P Besides, we're a team, bay-bee! And I much prefer team ball. You have a MUCH better chance of winning as a team rather than trying to go on it your own. Well... unless your Michael Jordan. ;)

And I'm going to roll with what you got. I think that's brilliant! BRILLIANT! (I can't help it, every time I see that word I think of that beer commercial. I totally love that word and can't help but say it the way they do). :P

Here’s what Valla learned about the cloak’s abilities.

The Cloak of the Inheritor
Aura overwhelming abjuration and conjuration; CL 20th
Slotshoulders; Weight 1 lb.
Description
This cloak is fashioned from wool of the brightest scarlet and embroidered with a sunburst-hilted longsword in pure white thread thread. It functions for any good-aligned wearer as a shield cloak, in addition to its other abilities.

Three times per day, the wearer may remove the cloak and shake it out towards some distant point in space. The cloak stretches out to form a 10-foot wide bridge between the wearer and the target; the bridge can be of any length, up to 300 feet and it supports any amount of weight. The bridge lasts until the following sunrise, or until the wearer picks it up and shakes it back into a cloak. Once the cloak reverts to its normal form, any creatures or objects currently on the bridge fall. The bridge has 100 hp and hardness 20. If it sustains enough damage to be destroyed, it reverts back to a cloak and cannot be used to create any more bridges until the next sunrise.

In addition to creating a bridge, the cloak can also be used to bring a person back to life, no matter how long said person has been dead, or the condition of his remains, simply by spreading the cloak on top of the remains. The cloak restores the person to full health, but only maintains the life of the fallen for as long as he or she wears the cloak; as soon as he takes it off, he dies again unless he can permanently sacrifice two daily uses of mythic power, and the cloak can only bring an individual back once.

If an individual wearing the cloak sustains enough damage to kill him, the cloak will instead revive the wearer 2d4 rounds later. During this delay, healing spells and effects continue to work on the wearer’s remains, though at only half effectiveness. If enough healing magic is used to bring the wearer back to consciousness, he does not die, and revives normally. Once the cloak’s magic is used to resurrect the wearer, he becomes bound to the cloak and cannot remove it or he dies instantly, unless he is able to permanently surrender two daily uses of mythic power.

Destruction
The cloak is destroyed if a divine spellcasting follower of Iomedae uses the cloak to fashion a bridge across the bottomless chasm outside the Starstone Cathedral, and voluntarily jumps off it of his own free will, causing the bridge to shatter.

Shield cloak should have been in italics above.

So, I know Edward offered to pay for the upfront cost of James' proposal in character (bold text) first, but I also offered for Ty to pay in OOC text even before that. It's not in character for Ty to be holding on to all of his gold when the party has a large expense to make. I'm up for splitting the upfront cost with Edward for 550 gp each.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

You got it, bud. That's cool. It's all good to me either way.

So will deduct 550 then instead of 1100.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

HA! I freaking love it! A good ol' fashion "Bluff off". That is awesome. I can honestly say I've never been involved in one of those. So fantastic!

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

OOOOOOOHHHHHHHH! Tearing it freaking UP, Ty!!! My main man Ty is pulling NO punches! Keep chunking those mythic points out there, bud! Heck yeah! Whatever it takes to win, bay-bee!!!

Oh my gosh this is so dang fun to watch(or, you know, read)! :P (I can totally see this is in movie form though. Great great stuff, folks.)

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Oh my gosh! Ty throwing out some boss numbers! Richard raising him a natural 20! Man this is so freaking great!

Loving the twist, Nazard. Man I did NOT see this coming. I figured they probably weren't trustworthy but THIS is beyond what I was thinking.

Well done. :)

Eventually, one of these characters you "randomly" encounter will turn out to be a trusted and valued ally...except by then you'll all be too paranoid to let him!!

Wild Arcana is a swift, right? So I'd get off a spell before he could throw?

Wild arcana is a swift action, yes.

The rules about actions and initiative are very fuzzy when you aren't in combat. Technically, we're both supposed to roll initiative in these circumstances, and winner takes all.

Not sure which spell you're planning. Hopefully, he doesn't make his save...

Okay, this was way more fun than having them slip aboard your ship just before it left Almas, befriend you for a few days, then set fire to the vessel and engage you in battle while you tried to save ship, cargo, and crew alike. Quite an encounter to lead up to our 1000th post.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Oh no! C'mon, Ty, you can do it! My gosh this is nerve wracking. This is Ali and Frazier. Tyson and Holyfield. Rocky and Apollo. Great stuff!

And by the by, I'm REALLY concerned about Morgana. (Please don't die or Edward is gonna flip out and start killing people seeing how he wasn't doing his job properly. Antipaladin world, he here comes!) *Kidding, only kidding* The gnome dies though, just sayin'. ;)
