Benedic |

Benedic rushes forward, placing himself protectively in front of Junior. Not accepting the raging song this round to improve his AC.

GM Losonti |

Selann, you'd said you were readying an action to cast dancing lights if there were any sounds of battle. I just forgot to acknowledge it in my posts.
Blue club vs Junior: 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 4 - 2 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Red club vs Benedic, flanking: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Green club vs Tristan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Selann's magical spittle flies through the air and covers his target in a sticky goo, though they manage to avoid being pinned entirely. The mongrelman in question snarls and makes a clumsy swing at Junior with his club, but is easily evaded.
The remaining mongrelmen shout instructions to one another and move to surround Benedic and isolate Tristan. Both connect with painful impacts, the sound reverberating oddly in the cavern. Benedic takes 8 damage, and Tristan takes 4.
Round 2
Massielo

![]() |

Being too far to participate more actively in the fight, Massielo walks forward and attacks the visible red mongrelman with magic, sending frightful images of the unknown void to his mind.
Walked forward in the map and cast Cause Fear DC 15 on red

Tristan de Lion |

Round 2
Tristan winces as the bruising club damages the money-maker!
The Inquisitor then steps 5' north to flank with the cleric on Green.
Melee: cold-iron longsword, rage song, bless, flank: 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 221d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6
AC 18 Hp 24/20

Fred Junior |

Junior continues to sing his little song while feeling the magic take hold, ”Tell ya what it is,
I'm a goldfish man, stop me when I'm passing by,
I've got all of this algae, guaranteed to make you die!”
Warhammer vs Red, rage song, goldfish head: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 9 Are we still blessed?
Bludgeoning: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 11
Junior punctuates the word die with a swing of his warhammer; he briefly considers naming the warhammer ‘algea’ as he slips on a wet spot.

Greta Gyllenhår |

ohhh... I'm so slow my first action happens in round two :'(
Hearing the sounds of fighting, Greta rushes forward. As she approaches, her steps fall into time with Junior's rhythm and she feels her strength grow. She raises her longhammer as she arrives next to Selann and swings it down hard at the guard flanking Benedic (blue).
longhammer (rs): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
for: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 5) + 9 = 16

Caliban Tre'Athkar |

Caliban will accept Junior's discordant singing and move forward, attacking with both hands toward the one on the right.
Attack two handed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Attack blue with two hands

Greta Gyllenhår |

You might want to post a second choice too, Caliban, in case I killed that one?

GM Losonti |

Purple club with flank: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 2 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Tristan and Greta's strikes both find their marks, with Greta's victim, slowed as he is by Selann's magic, can do little but watch as the longhammer's head closes in on his face.
Junior and Caliban, however, miss their marks, with mysterious cave algae throwing Junior off balance, while Caliban's blade scrapes harmlessly off his opponent's chitinous skin. The same foe struggles for a moment with Massielo's mental attack, but is able to throw off the worst of it.
One of the mongrelmen steps forward and over his fallen comrade, trying to finish what he started and swinging his weapon at the priest trapped between them. While this blow is less well aimed than the first, it hits just as hard, sending Benedic reeling.
Blue gets instantly knocked out with a single blow, green gets stabbed a bit, and Benedic takes another 8 damage.
Round 2
Massielo
Greta
Caliban
Tristan -4 HP
Junior
Mongrelman Purple -7 HP
Benedic -16 HP
Selann
Mongrelman Red Shaken 1 round
Mongrelman Green -6 HP
Benedic and Selann are up!

Tristan de Lion |

Tristan turns to the camera; lifting his shoulders, as if to say I'm givv'n all I got Captin!

Benedic |

Benedic grunts loudly at the second blow, still hard-pressed, but valiantly swings his sword at one of the remaining enemies. As he loses his balance slightly on the lunge, he makes eye contact with the mongrelman and narrows his eyes. Iomedae, do not fail me now! he prays, drawing upon his inner strength to cause the blade to connect.
Accepts the raging song this round.
Melee attack vs green, flanking, retroactive hero point since his life is in danger: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Slashing damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Selann Juris |

Seeing Benedic hammered and still in danger, Selann glances at both of the enemies and picks the one that wasn't bloodied yet. He repeats his spell from previous, hoping to pin the man down....
Again casting Adhesive Spittle to disable Red. Effect as per Tanglefoot Bag. Save is Reflex DC 13 partial, which lets him move at half speed. He takes -2 to attack and -4 to Dex for 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5 rounds.

GM Losonti |

Red Club vs Benedic: 1d20 + 4 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 2 - 2 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Benedic, bloodied but not yet beaten, strikes his foe down with a mighty blow, cleaving through the man's torso and kicking the body off of his blade. The mongrelman on his left howls in rage as his comrade falls, he winds up a powerful swing aimed directly at the cleric's head . But just then, using only a word and a gesture, Selann's spell slows him just enough that Benedic is able to evade the blow.
Round 3
Massielo
Greta
Caliban
Tristan -4 HP
Junior
Mongrelman Purple -7 HP
Benedic -16 HP
Selann
Mongrelman Red Adhesive Spittle (4 rounds)
That was close! If Red hadn't been shaken and hit with that spell, he would have knocked Benedic into next week. On top of that, Benedic's hero point absolutely turned a miss into a hit, taking an enemy entirely out of the fight. Bolded characters are up!

Greta Gyllenhår |

Greta breathes a sigh of relief when the injured priest’s gamble of attacking instead of healing himself pays off. Raising her hammer, she attempts to ease his danger by dispatching the gimped enemy that she can reach. Attacking Red.
longhammer (rs): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
for: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (6, 2) + 9 = 17

GM Losonti |

Like his comrade before him, Benedic's would-be assassin can do naught but resign himself to his fate as Greta's longhammer closes in. bye bye, red

Fred Junior |

Junior continues to sing, ”See now all our weapons are guaranteed to satisfy,
Longswords from two sides baby
I got a good warhammer, a spiked gauntlet.”
Warhammer vs purple, rage song, goldfish head: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 11
Bludgeoning: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 11
Junior moves in for another swing. If possible I will try to move in a way to avoid an AoO, I think I need to move through the barricade to do this. Otherwise I will move through Benedic’s square which will provoke.

![]() |

Massielo moves in and sees some of his friends are wounded. He focuses on Benedic and channels healing energy on him.
CLW @ Benedic: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Here's your healer!

Tristan de Lion |

Tristan watches as the group's combat cohesiveness seems to be becoming more tactical. He smiles.
The Inquisitor watches the resolve of Benedic, the quick thinking of Selann, the inspired singing from Junior, the promptly timed healing from Massielo, the harrying from Caliban and the smashing strike from Greta.
He steps forward to confront Purple.
Melee cold-iron longsword, rage song, bless: 1d20 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 1 + 1 = 161d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 1 = 9
AC 18 Hp 24/20

GM Losonti |

Are the barricades difficult terrain or impassable?
Difficult terrain!
The mongrelman gasps as Tristan's blade pierces through his armor, and he falls to his knees. He looks up at the inquisitor, growls a response in Undercommon, and slumps over.
Combat over! Sorry to wail on you like that, Benedic, but I'm glad you pulled through. Really sorry about your rolls, Junior, though your rage song made quite the difference in the fight. Everyone: Please make a Perception check.

Fred Junior |

It didn't help me much but I'm glad I did something this combat!
Junior lets his favorite song so far die and looks and listens.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 15

Benedic |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |

It was fair to wail on him; Benedic ran right up in the middle of them. I had been thinking I should have him protect Junior, but Junior's got more hp and AC than he does, so maybe he's just out for glory. :)
Benedic attempts to catch his breath and begins casting his own healing spell on himself.
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Perception check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Selann Juris |

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 I won't be noticing anything.... :)
Seeing the last enemy die Selann moves in to search the bodies, casting Detect Magic as he moves in.

Greta Gyllenhår |

perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Greta chats with Selann, mostly oblivious to whatever else is going on.

Caliban Tre'Athkar |

Caliban looks about, scanning the room for other threats, finding nothing moving, he will continue to watch. Seeing that the rest of the party seems fine, he will keep his sword drawn, but relax some.

![]() |

Is Tristan at 4 damage taken?
Massielo looks at Lann and says "Please say these weren't friendly."
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Massielo channels his healing energy.
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Fred Junior |

It's not temp hp like you would see from an unchained barbarian. So if Tristan was hit for 4 he's still down 4. We get to play a very dangerous game at 8th level when the con bonus goes up and everyone has to worry about possibly death raging. Hopefully we have hard to kill bt then.

Selann Juris |

"Didn't the chieftain say that all of these are unfriendly, traitors and such? And working with the cultists? I don't think we should be risking things by trying to talk with any of them!"

GM Losonti |

Other than the magical equipment already carried by your party, Selann's spell detects nothing. From back in the tunnel, Lann says "Aye, these are the traitors. I'll shed no tears over them tonight."

Benedic |

Benedic stops and raises a hand. "Reinforcements approach! Be ready!"
Taking his own advice, he quickly casts another spell. It;s divine favor, assuming he has time.

Tristan de Lion |

Tristan prays for Shield of Faith. The Inquisitor positions himself on one side of the entrance; shield raised and sword ready.
AC 21

![]() |

Massielo blesses the party and uses Iomedae's gift on Greta.
Cast Bless and use 1/day Shield of Faith on Greta. @Greta: get yourself +2 deflection bonus to AC

Caliban Tre'Athkar |

@GM, do we have a full round to prebuff? or just a single action?
Caliban draws in the air in front of him, speaking several staccato words in draconic, and summons a shimmering, translucent shield in front of himself.
Shield, AC 21!

Selann Juris |

Selann moves across from Junior, looking for some way to blend in with the rock. Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26 He send the dancing lights one human form light right in front of the gate, then activates his scale.
The scale is Anticipate Peril to give me a +5 on my initiative roll.

Fred Junior |

Junior moves towards the door ready to swing. He says with genuine concern, "Benny let me take a hit or two next time. I hate to see you roughed up so much, even if Massey is right there to fix you up."
Bludgeoning: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8

Greta Gyllenhår |

Hey, thanks,” Greta says with a smile as spells start affecting her. She readies her hammer and moves up next to Junior at the entrance to the cave.
readied attack (Bless): 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 1 = 10
for: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9
AoO: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 = 8
for: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 = 17
friendly reminder that I have reach so my attacks will go off before they actually reach us. Edit: not that it matters since RNG hates me.

![]() |

Already did. Bless (assuming the temple buff expired) + Shield of Faith on Greta "meat-grinder"

Caliban Tre'Athkar |

Caliban will focus on Trelendev's scale, Your sacrifice will not go unnoticed. I will never forget you, and what you did for us... and his skin flashes with the faintest silver sheen before resuming its normal, pallid complexion.
Activate Dragons scale Resist Cold

The gate opens. Through it, you catch a quick glimpse of bedrolls, tanned hides, and a cookfire. A more thorough examination will have to wait, however, as no less than 8 mongrelmen inhabit the room on the far side. All are armed, some are armored, and all move toward the door with murderous intent.

Caliban Tre'Athkar |

Caliban, seeing the doorway open, exclaims, Here we go! There certainly are a lot of them! and quickly incants in draconic, pulling the water out of the air around him, and focusing it at the lead mongrelman. আমাকে জল, পুশ! Seeing his spell fire, he then focuses for a brief second and his blade pulses with magical energy.
Cast Hyrdaulic push on Purple, Swift Action - Arcane Pool, +1 to his cold iron longsword.
Bull Rush (Bless): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 = 10

GM Losonti |

Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Caliban's target is rocked in place by the rush of water, but stands his ground and advances through the gate. He ducks under Greta's hammer as he passes through, but is caught off guard by Junior, whom he couldn't see from the far side. He barely gets an arm up in time to prevent the half-orc's warhammer from taking his head, but there's still a painful crunch as it hits home. Despite his injury, the mongrelman retaliates with a powerful swing that catches Junior in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him. 9 damage, oof.

Junior doesn't have the breath to say it but the thought crosses his mind, Be careful what you wish for.
