Lol- Greta is twice as fast as half of this party...

Caliban Tre'Athkar |

Caliban cautiously works his way forward, Why is there a maze in this place? What is the purpose of this? he holds his sword in his hand moving ahead.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Hey Junior, do not get distracted back there, Your new skin seems to be a bit different for you. the elf chuckles, looking over his shoulder.

Selann Juris |

Selann has his crossbow ready...
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Tristan de Lion |

Tristan (from the rear) walks along softly humming to himself.
I really feel like the GM is up to shenanigans. I feel as if something may be lurking in the darkness. If only I could cast Magic Missile at it...
Perception for no reason at all!: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26

Open this if you're named Caliban
With the light from Benedic's sword illuminating the passageway, the party slowly makes its way into the mysterious maze.

Caliban Tre'Athkar |

Caliban stops for a moment, cocking his head as if listening....
Looking around the group, Caliban realizes that he didn't mention the sounds, I hear maybe rats? Or other small, clawed things? Junior, did you say something about a Labyrinth?

Tristan de Lion |

Tristan doesn't like it! The Inquisitor cast Detect Magic as the group continues.
Agreed, Caliban. Scratching noises; be ware!

![]() |

Massielo looks around, unable to see anything, and says "If there are indeed rats, maybe they want some more food?" He tries to sound brave, but his trembling voice betrays him.

Benedic |

Benedic hears the sounds ahead in what he assumes to be a labyrinth. "These cultists we are fighting, they worship Baphomet who is, if my memory serves, a minotaur-god of mazes and ambushes. I believe a little additional protection is in order." He pauses a moment to cast shield of faith on himself before continuing.

Greta Gyllenhår |

”Does that mean there’s going to be a minotaur in here for us to fight?” Greta asks with an unusual mixture of concern and excitement.

Selann Juris |

Hearing the quiet discussion ahead Selann agrees. He quietly touches his dragon scale and activates the power.
Anticipate Peril for 19 minutes, or until used. +5 on one initiative roll.

Benedic |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Benedic frowns. "We have many disadvantages, if such a monster we should encounter. I would prefer to avoid it if possible." He looks back at Greta with a serious expression. "Take heart, though, for it is likely that anything we come upon here will stand in our way, and then our only choice to proceed will be to slay it."
Benedic draws and activates his own scale of the fallen dragon. Radiance is now a good weapon for 19m.

GM Losonti |

As you creep forward through the maze, the scratchings quiet and soon you can only hear the sounds of your own breathing and boots sliding on the stone. About halfway through, as Benedic turns a corner, the light from Radiance shines upon a creature with a squat, bloated body, crouched in ambush. It screeches in anger as the light falls across its skin, and it rushes forward with snapping jaws!
At the same time, the muscles in your sword arm seize up, as a rush of arcane energy flows from the sword and into you, overwhelming your nerves. It hurts, and feels like it goes on forever...until it doesn't. When your eyes refocus, you see a creature barreling down on you from the tunnel you'd just been about to turn your back on.
Consider your black blade activated. :)

Knowledge planes: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Massielo comments "This is a demon! A dretch. This is when our battle against the demons begin!" He is so excited that he forgets to act.

Fred Junior |

Bardic know: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Junior runs through the maze trying to get a look at what the thing is and fails to add anything to Massielo's observation. He shrugs at aims with his bow!
Longbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 It has cover from Benedic.
Piercing: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Caliban Tre'Athkar |

Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Demons, of course... Caliban spins his cold iron longsword in his right hand while spinning his left hand around in front of him, conjuring a barrier of force.
Cast Shield, AC 21

Tristan de Lion |

Knowledge Planes to identify: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Tristan does recall a bit about these foul, low-ranking demons.
But they are still demons.
Tristan calls upon The Inheritor's Shield of Faith; before rushing forward to block Lime-dretch.
Cast Shield of Faith AC 21
He grins.

Benedic |

Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14 Actually impossible for him to fail this one, but he still doesn't get the additional information!
He steps forward, his sword already drawn, and slices at the creature from behind his shield.
Attack with Radiance, hero point: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 4 = 16 Seems like the first slash at the first demon faced while wielding Radiance for the first time merits using a hero point! +4 attack retroactively!
Cold iron/good/slashing damage, vigor: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5 Pity the damage roll was so low though. At least he can spend vigor for +1 more.

GM Losonti |

That hero point made the difference!
Benedic's sword easily pierces through the dretch's thick hide, a horrible sizzling sound coming from the wound.
Selann is up!

Selann Juris |

Knowledge-Planes: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Hearing about the demons Selann considers what he remembers from classes about demons. His magic was too weak to penetrate the resistances that the creatures possesses, but he might be able to snare one if he could reach it.... He relays any information that he can remember to the rest of the team.
Moving up, but in this maze I don't know if I'll be able to reach anything. Hopefully the knowledge roll will help!

GM Losonti |

[dice=1d4+1[/dice]
Selann, you're 1 short of hitting another increment of 5 from the DC, but since that was a natural 20, I'll count it anyway. What's a piece of information you'd like to know about dretches?
One of the dretches tears around the corner and sprints at Caliban, teeth snapping at his legs, but the elf swats it aside with his blade. Benedic can hear a third dretch a bit deeper in the cave, but whatever it's up to, he can't tell.

Selann Juris |

Anything dangerous/important to know? Poison? Area effect attack? Summoning? Damaging aura? I know they're weak as demons go, but generally don't consider demons to be weak....

Greta Gyllenhår |

Greta’s hair begins to glow with golden warmth once more, and a pale white light spreads around her hammer as she raises it up and brings it crashing back down at the nearest dretch. Free action to activate bloodrage, standard to attack... I can’t find the map on my phone for some reason but please move me as necessary (I have an unused move action that will take me up to 40’).

Have the dretches attacked yet?
Despite his bad position, Massielo attempts to swing at the nearby dretch fighting with Caliban.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 5 - 4 = 5
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
He viciously attacks the wall.

GM Losonti |

One did attack, he just didn't roll high enough to hit Caliban's AC of 21[/ooc]
Greta and Massielo both strike hard at Caliban's attacker, but through sheer dumb luck it manages to avoid their crushing blows.
Shying away from the bite of Benedic's blade, the wounded dretch retreats around the corner. He can see it brace its paws against the ground as a retching coughing noise starts to come from the creature. Almost immediately a horrid yellow cloud pours from its mouth, filling the maze with choking fumes.
Everyone in the yellow outlined area (which is to say, anyone not named Tristan) will need to make a DC 13 Fortitude save or be nauseated. Normally I'd have somebody Spellcraft this but knowing that this is stinking cloud is kind of important to having it function properly. Full description below but bear in mind it also obscures all sight beyond 5 feet, and things within 5 feet have concealment.

Ah, forgot to do this. For convenience:

Benedic |

Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Benedic snarls and follows the creature, stepping forward into the cloud to where he knows the creature to be, and he swings at it again with his glowing sword.
Attack with longsword, guidance: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 = 16
Slashing/good/cold iron damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Caliban Tre'Athkar |

Fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Gagging and retching the elf weakly calls out Fall back, ugh and moves out of the stinking cloud area...

Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
20% Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 100
As Caliban retreats, the dretch rakes a claw across the back of his leg, scoring a minor injury. 2 damage

Fort save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
"They're immune to this stink and any other poison, plus electrical attacks. Use good or cold iron to hurt them. Get out of the cloud if you can."
With the demon in sight, Selann 'spits' at it, then runs out of the cloud.
Casting Adhesive Spittle on Green. Reflex save DC13 for partial. (not stuck to the floor) Duration is 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 rounds. Otherwise like a Tanglefoot Bag.

Tristan de Lion |

Round 2
Tristan--swiftly--pronounces Judgment of the Green demon!
Melee: cold-iron longsword, judgment smiting magic: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 111d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
The Inquisitor yells behind him.
Anyone got any ideas?

Massielo does his best at moving away and steps out of the cloud.

GM Losonti |

Leaving this out of the screen because lol
Dretch Reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 1
The dretch, caught completely off guard by Selann's spell, finds himself glued to the floor, unable to move.
Tristan, as a heads up: because your longsword is cold iron, you're already bypassing its DR, so the Smiting judgment doesn't have any additional effect. Just in case you might want to use a different one. Now that I think about it, you also have a wall between you and Green, so you wouldn't be able to use that ability or attack it from where you are.
Massielo, roll a 1d4+1 for me so we can see how long you're nauseated for.

![]() |

Duration: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Tristan de Lion |

Didn't notice a wall. Oops! I will retcon if allow? Also, Tristan actually barely made the Knowledge check; so he is guessing.

Caliban Tre'Athkar |

Caliban was going to say something on his next action - but he's busy puking...

Selann Juris |

LOL! So Green is stuck in place, -4 to Dex and out of range with anybody.... and right in front of an angry little girl with a great big hammer! :-P

Tristan de Lion |

Tristan sighs. The Inquisitor doesn't fail to notice some half of his group; coughing and choking coming out of the green cloud.
Not certain we can fight them inside that. Any of you spellcasters do anything about it?
He winks.
He casts Guidance on himself, swiftly pronounces Judgment; before entering the fray with Green!

Greta's gauntleted fist, charged with divine power, crunches bone as it connects with the demon's jaw and sends it reeling backwards.
