Oxnard Kettlebeak |

You see nothing else in the crypt. . . in fact, the bodies are missing- gone without a trace.
As Rin is slowly walking forward in the crypt, she notices the tunnel leading back from this area to a larger cavern.

Kaloora Plimp |

Kaloora steps in behind Rin.
I have a bad feeling about this... - he says, noticing the empty crypt.
By his side, the ectoplasmic phantom doesn't say a word. He looks at the gnome with tired-looking eyes, then back at the crypts, then finally to the tunnel.

Rin Kaijitsu |

"Well there aren't any bodies, but that could just mean the skeletons walked further into the cavern. Everyone be quiet and careful." Rin warned the others as she moved to scout the cavern.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Perception; LL Vision: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

The floor of this vast cavern descends in two twenty-foot drops into a large, eerie grotto. The walls drip with moisture and bear strange
and disturbing cave paintings of towering four-winged humanoid shapes. Tiny motes of glowing light drift and bob in the air, giving the place
an almost nauseating feeling, as if the cavern is viewed through a
dreamlike haze.
Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19
Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
You see nothing else without going further in, though you think there are tunnels leading off this cavern

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

"Doesn't have to be skeletons. Could always be zombies," Mitsuru says helpfully.

Rin Kaijitsu |

"That's a good point." Rin whispered as she sheathed one of her hanbo and pulled the Whispering Shrike back out. "There doesn't seem to be anything here, but the tunnels lead off to a cavern. Do we want to keep going or go the other way?"

Talios Yintargo |

"This place...I don't like the feel of it but we need to fully explore this place if we are to find the source of Ameiko's ailment. We should press." Talios gives his opinion.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

As Kage sneaks forward and looks, he catches sight or. . . something.
Like a floating octopus with many tentacles and a terrible smile full of teeth.
Image added
He does not seem to have noticed you yet, but anyone moving further in or Kage or Rin moving back will need to make another stealth.

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Mitsuru creeps up to the corner, peeking around it at the octopus creature. Yikes, not good, she thinks to herself. She gestures back to the others, warning them to stay quiet.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

This creature looks like a Decapus- a type of aberration with ten tentacles which bites and attacks/grabs, but it is altered from ordinary of its kind- it appears to have some evil planar influences

Kage Kurai |

Stealth: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29
Seeing the...whatever it is, Kage slips silently closer, until he is close enough to toss a splash of acid at the creature. It hasn't seen me so I get Sneak Attack, right?
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Damage, Acid: 1d3 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + (3, 3) = 7
...and misses badly.

1. Mitsuru
2. the Red Oni
3. Emili
4. MONSTER
5/6. Kage & Kaloora
7. Talios
It didn't hear anyone at the point when Kage went, so you will get a suprise round
Everyone but Kage will still have a single move OR standard for the surprise round, and Mitsuru, Rin, and Emili will act before the creature in round 1

Rin Kaijitsu |

Kage's magical attack brought Rin's attention to the horrible tentacled monster further down the cavern. Summoning her Ki, Rin vanished from sight as she moved toward the monster. In a flash Rin attacked from stealth before vanishing again just as quickly.
Surprise round: Swift action spend 1 ki to activate Vanishing Trick, move action

Emili Vhaddruddr |

Is that the sound of a blender firing up I hear? XD
As Kage breaks the silence, Emili darts into the cave. ”Yeesh,” he quips. ”That’s worse than that time I had to deworm a lamb.” With a crack of his whip, he tries to draw the creature’s attention.
Whip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Slashing damage: 1d3 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Move in the surprise round, then Move again and Attack in the first round of regular initiative.

Talios Yintargo |

"My knowldege of creatures doesn't extend to whatever that is but let us hope it can still be defeated with conventional means." Talios says while casting Gravity Bow.
---
He then moves further into the room and says a prayer before firing.
Swift: Judgement +1 Attack.
Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 23
Damage + Gravity Bow: 2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2, 5) + 3 + 1 = 11

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

Mitsuru darts forward from cover to flank the creature with Rin. She takes advantage of the creature's slow reflexes and thrusts her rapier forward, hoping to end things before they even get started.
Rapier: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 2 = 23
Piercing: 1d6 + 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + (1, 4) + 3 = 10

Kaloora Plimp |

On the surprise, Kaloora and the Phantom will simply move ahead closer to the group.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Surprise Round
Mitsuru advances.
The Red Oni vanishes and advances.
Emili advances.
Kaloora and his phantom advance.
Talios casts gravity bow.
Round 1
Mitsuru strikes, but her blow seems less effective than expected DR 5/magic
The Red Oni appears, stabs deeply with Whispering Shrike, then disappears again!
Emili's whip cracks the creature, but it too proves less than fully effective!
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
The creature nimbly flies up, retreating outside (ordinary) melee range, and turns, a wand in its tentacle launching a scorching ray at Mitsuru!
Scorching Ray: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Fire Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 4) = 17
Talios arrow hits the creature in the air!
Turn Order:
1. Mitsuru
2. the Red Oni
3. Emili
4. MONSTER
5/6. Kage & Kaloora
7. Talios
Status:
Monster: -40
Mitsuru: 1/24
That will bring up Kage & Kaloora to end round 1, then Mitsuru, Rin, and Emili before the creature in round 2

Kage Kurai |

Kage considers following Rin's example, but decides to save his spells for later. Instead he dashes forward and fires another blast of acid.
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage, Acid: 1d3 ⇒ 1

Emili Vhaddruddr |

"Oi! Stop that!" Emili cracks his whip again - this time aiming at the wand in the creature's... tentacle?
Disarm, Whip: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 2 = 18

Rin Kaijitsu |

As the creature fired magical rays at Mitsuru, Rin dropped her blades and drew her bow. Knowing that Mitsuru might not survive another such attack, Rin said a prayer to Desna as she loosed her arrow.
Free action drop weapons, move action draw shortbow(mundane), Standard Action attack Flat Footed AC

Crit Threat: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Crit Dmg: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 5) + 2 = 10

Kaloora Plimp |

Kaloora and the phantom move near Mitsuru. The gnome touches her in the shoulder and hums loudly, trying to give her some healing.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 Sorry :$
The phantom positions himself by his side, weapons in hand, and opens both arms. A sort of flash of light goes around - Blessing the group as it does so.
Phantom casts bless, caster level 3. +1 Morale to attacks and saves vs. fear.
@GM: The phantom has Bodyguard and Combat Reflexes. He will react to anyone attacking allies around him to try to increase their AC; his aid another actually adds 1 extra (+3) to everybody, and 2 extra (+4) against Kaloora. He has 3 AoOs every turn, so please feel free to roll them (so we don't waste too much time). Thanks!

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Round 1
Kage hits the creature- and fortunately its spell resistance cannot stop the acid!
Kaloora cures Mitsuru and his phantom prepares to defend.
Round 2
Rin appears, hitting with her bow, but not as well as it might have been! Not critical
Emili knocks the wand from the creature's tenticular grasp!
Turn Order:
1. Mitsuru
2. the Red Oni
3. Emili
4. MONSTER
5/6. Kage & Kaloora
7. Talios
Status:
Monster: -52
Mitsuru: 6/24
Pending Talios and Mitsuru

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

Ouch! Thanks for healing me up.
Mitsuru, stunned by the flaming assault, nonetheless seizes upon the fallen wand. She immediately runs for and scoops up the magical implement.

Talios Yintargo |

Talios takes a small step forward while continuing to fire.
Using Perfect Strike for first in flurry. Use higher as attack roll and lower as critical confirm, if threatened.
Flurry Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 11
Flurry Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 19

Flurry Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 22
Damage + Gravity Bow: 2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3, 3) + 3 + 1 = 10

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Round 1
Talios hits twice.
Round 2
Mitsuru snatches the wand.
The creature floats back over you and casts a spell!
Unholy Damage: 4d8 ⇒ (8, 4, 5, 8) = 25
Sickened: 1d4 ⇒ 4
This hits everyone on the radius of the spread, but only affects good creatures- DC 16 Will negates the sickened and halves the damage
Damage to Phantom: 8d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 1, 3, 4, 5, 2) = 26 Higher damage level for for the phantom as a good outsider
Turn Order:
1. Mitsuru
2. the Red Oni
3. Emili
4. MONSTER
5/6. Kage & Kaloora
7. Talios
Status:
Monster: -66
Mitsuru: 6/24
That will bring up every one again

Kaloora Plimp |

Will (Kaloora): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 Not sickened, 12+8=20 points
Will (Phantom): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Sickened, 26-8=18 points
Kaloora channels, excluding the enemies from his wave of positive energy.
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 2 Eww
The Phantom casts another of his spell-like abilities (this time, though, using bane against the enemy) and then moves near it.
Still with the combat reflexes/bodyguard thing; Phantom casts BANE (SLA); Kaloora used the etheric tether to reduce the damage the phantom took to prevent it from being dismissed.

Kage Kurai |

Kage notices the spell, but doesn't pause to wonder what it was supposed to do. Then he runs around the creature an tries to stab it from behind. I'm not even sure you *can* flank this thing, but I'll give it a shot.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11
Damage, P/S: 1d33 + 2d6 ⇒ (30) + (1, 5) = 36

Mitsuru Hisakawa |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 i am really glad i made that save
Mitsuru focuses all her will on resisting the creature's evil magic, and is able to force her way through the worst of it, but nevertheless crumples to the ground in a heap, blood flowing from her nose and ears.

Emili Vhaddruddr |

Will vs DC 16: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Gagging and trembling, Emili looks back at the tunnel as if debating whether to flee. Then he hears a thump, and looks back to see Mitsuru on the ground. She can’t withstand another of those... Shakily he makes his way across the floor and hoists the unconscious adventurer onto his shoulder. ”Hang in there...” he whispers, either to her or to himself. Or perhaps both.
7/30 hitpoints after the channel.

Rin Kaijitsu |

Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
I'm so glad Mitsuru made that will save. Move action to move to Mitsuru, move action to toss the wand to Kage. @Kage, I believe the monster is flying out of melee range.
Pain wracked Rin's body as the creatures foul magic hit her like a horse. The room spun from the spell, and Rin struggled to keep standing. Stumbling forward, she grabbed the wand from Mitsuru's collapsed form and tossed it to Kage."Blast that monster Kage!"

Kaloora Plimp |

Just a reminder, team, don't forget everybody is blessed and the extra (ewww) 2 HP from the channel; GM, I believe the DC of the bane should be 13 (10 + 1 SL + 2 Charisma)

Talios Yintargo |

Will with Lifebound: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 2 = 18
Talios feels the energy wash over him but he thinks of Erastil and shakes off the sickness before it takes him.
"This foul creature is trying to corrupt us. We must end it quickly!" Talios remarks as he fires upon it once again.
Flurry Composite Longbow w/ Judgement, PBS, Bless: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 24
Damage + Gravity Bow: 2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2, 5) + 3 + 1 = 11
Flurry Composite Longbow w/ Judgement, PBS, Bless: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 15
Damage + Gravity Bow: 2d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6, 3) + 3 + 1 = 13

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Kage misses.
Kaloora channels and the phantom casts bane.
Will: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
And with Talios' two more arrows, the creature floats to the ceiling saying, [b]"Father! Why have you forsaken me! Pazuzu!" then falls from the sky dead!
Mitsuru: 8/24
I didn't catch all the damage from the last spell- it was 24 save for half, so many may have taken 12 damage.

Rin Kaijitsu |

As the monster fell to the ground, slain by Talios' arrows, Rin dropped to her knees from exhaustion, pain, and relief. "Is...is Mitsuru alright?"

Kaloora Plimp |

She should be stable, but I will get her up in a cheek.
The caydenite pours a bit of alcohol into his mug and drinks - to "inspire" himself - as he lies down to quickly treat Mitsuru.
Heal (Treat Deadly Wounds): 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 28 Drink in hand, healer's satchel, aid another
Heal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 Phantom Aid Another
Full round action; Mitsuru recovers 6 hit points. Doing it with healer's hands as I don't know if we have more time to spare
The gnome then channels, trying to help recover everybody.
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Everybody heals more 3 points. Using selective channeling to avoid enemies.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Remnants of some kind of leathery egg remain scattered around the cavern to the south (areas V10b), still weirdly moist and pulsing. A small hoard of treasures sits on a flat rock at the far end of the room.
There is a +1 light fortification light steel shield bearing the image of Castle Brinewall, a +1 returning starnife, a pearl of power (1st level), a ring of the ram with 10 charges, a wayfinders, 1320 gold and 800 gold worth of jewelry and gems.
Two additional items of interest lie amid these treasures as well. The first of these is a darkwood-and-silver disc decorated with an intricate etching of Brinewall under the midnight moon. This disc radiates faint transmutation magic.
The second item is a stone statuette of Pazuzu depicting the demon lord as a bird-headed, four winged humanoid with his right arm raised.
Coming in the back way you sometimes meet bosses out of sequence.

Rin Kaijitsu |

She should be stable, but I will get her up in a cheek.
"Thank Desna, drinks are on me when we get back to the caravan. Do you think we're lucky enough that killing this thing fixed Ameiko?"
------
Later, as the group discovered the treasure. "Look at all this. I thought it was dragons that horded treasure. Can anyone tell if anything is cursed?"

Talios Yintargo |

"Pazuzu? It sounds foul whatever this thing saw as as a father. Perhaps this is the source of the sickness around this place but there is still much to explore here." Talios says also checking on the downed Mitsuru, aiding Kaloora.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 = 5
"It is certainly a boon to have another healer with us...with that thing taking to the air I had to focus on making sure it couldn't injure us further. Now this treasure worries me, careful, it could be cursed."
Detect Magic.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

The noted magic items above are all magical, as is the statue, but you cannot identify its properties

Kage Kurai |

Once Mitsuru is back on her feet, Kage takes the wand back to her. "What happened to you?" he asks as he does so.
After talking to Mitsuru, he examines the magical items.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Or not.

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

Mitsuru gradually stirs back into consciousness and sits up, wiping the blood from her nose. "Well," she says shakily, "I've had better days." She accepts the wand from Kage, shoving it into a pocket. "My eyes were bigger than my stomach, is what my grandma would say. Thank you all for saving me. I think I'm gonna take a breather."

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Also, the wand he had is Wand of Scorching Ray (obviously), with 29 charges left now
The "level" of this basement is clear now if you want to either rest in place in one of these, or back out to return to the Caravan for another night before entering either up the stairs on this level, or back through one of the other entrances

Rin Kaijitsu |

I vote to go back to camp to rest. We've expended a decent amount of resources and all took a licking in the last fight. Plus Rin would want to check on Ameiko. We can also take the loot back, but let's leave the Pazuzu statue. I don't trust that thing at all.

Emili Vhaddruddr |

Emili nods at the Red Oni’s suggestions. ”What about your friend, Kaloora? She’s welcome to stay with us - at least for the night, if not longer.”
Diplomacy to Persuade Lady to Stay with Caravan: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Resting sounds good to me. Entertaining to be playing a non-caster in this game - now I’m the one who’s like “What do you mean you’re out of resources already?” instead of the other way around. XD

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

You slip back out the secret passage that lead you here and reconvene back at the caravan, disheartened to find Ameiko’s status in her slumber unchanged.
theres enough healing back at the caravan that they can get everyone back to full on hit points damage; what did you decide to do with the statue?

Kaloora Plimp |

Kaloora scratches his beard, looking at Emili.
Huh... Who? What friend, mate? - asks the gnome, confused as to whom he was referring to.
Despite the response, he thanks the others for the welcoming, and tries to stick around closeby. He's particularly said to find Ameiko in a slumber.
What... What happened with her? - he asked, disheartened, as she was his closest friend in Sandpoint.
