After slaying her target, Rin moved to flank the goblin that Mitsuru was engaged with. With the goblin flailing in the mud and Mitsuru unable to keep her footing, Rin didn't waste time with theatrics, instead simply thrusting her blade towards the creature's throat.

With the final goblin dispatched, Rin cleaned the blood from her blade and re-sheathed it. The whispering shrike was an amazing weapon, it handled like nothing she had ever used before. And it was a comfort wielding the blade of the legendary family bodyguard. She wondered if that was why the blood didn't bother her as much, or if she had really just adjusted that quickly?

Lifting her mask to the top of her head, Rin gave a smile and a thumbs up to Mitsuru. "Is everyone all right?" She called out as she rubbed her arrow bruises.

Likewise, Mitsuru wipes the blood from her rapier, using the tunic of a dead goblin. She answers Rin's thumbs up with a wolfish grin, before turning to Jiro. "Thanks for the grand words, friend! Felt like we were the heroes of a bard's tale!"

With another successful battle under her belt, Rin found herself strutting around the camp, proud of more proof of her fighting ability. While others in the caravan either expressed appreciation or annoyance, Ameiko continued to give Rin the silent treatment.

Having barely said a word to her sister since Rin's dramatic reveal, Ameiko was set to break their mother's record. Though Rin had tried to remain defiant, made easier by the recent boosts to her pride, her talkative sister's silence was finally wearing on her. Deciding she would be the one to break the silence, Rin cornered her sister at dinner that night.

"I'm not going to apologize. You refused to train me so you could leave me at home. You did it once and you were going to do it again, so I made sure you couldn't. I've proved I can handle myself and I'm not going to apologize for it. In fact...you should apologize to me for trying to abandon me again!" Rin did her best to stare down her older sister but didn't seem to believe her own demand for an apology.

"It is good to see you again. I have been able to put the skills you showed me to use...the life of an adventurer comes with many dangers. That makes me wonder what spurred you on to taking this trip?"

What's the "+difference" bit in the damage section? I'll leave that out and let you add it in.

Kage immediately jumps on one of the Ballistas and, with some help loading the massive weapon, takes a shot at the bandits.

Mitsuru lets out a shriek of surprise as an arrow knocks the apple she'd been eating right out of her hand. She recovers quickly, though, and runs to help Kage with the ballista.

Rin rose from the barrel she had taken cover behind, watching the last of the bandits flee. "Is anyone hurt!?" She called out as she put away her short bow. Though her quiver was several arrows lighter, she wasn't sure if she had actually hit anyone or not. The sheer volume of projectiles in the air was a new combat experience to her.

"Do we look like we have money?" Rin asked as the party gathered.

"Good idea. Okay lets..." Rin trailed off as she surveyed the damaged with no idea what to do to go about fixing it. "...go ask Emili what we should do."

With her sister's blessing and another battle notched on her belt, Rin had spent the last several days in a good mood. Cheerfully chatting up the caravan crew while cleaning up and cooking. Though her chores weren't all that different from those at home, they still carried an exotic air to Rin. She wasn't wiping down a tavern table, she was wiping down a caravan table. She wasn't cooking stew for tavern patrons, she was cooking stew for the caravan. They just didn't just feel like the day to day drudgery. More than that, she was pulling her share among the crew, which brought a certain pride she had never felt at the Rusty Dragon.

"Sooo what do you think we'll find when we get to Brinewall? I wonder what secret grandfather was trying to hide? Do you think the enemy he mentioned had something to do with the attack? I mean, no one has ever attacked Sandpoint and it isn't like we've been secret about our family."

Mitsuru disappears for much of the day, replaced by a fox that shadows the other party members as they go about their daily activities. At night, she shares folktales from her family around the campfire, using her impressive array of voices to breathe extra life into the stories.

"Well, there were those goblin attacks on the town a few years back," Emili drawls as he finishes off a bowl of Rin's excellent stew. "I wasn't there myself, on account of having to watch the sheep, but I heard about them coming out of nowhere and some brave folks having to drive them out. Pity you weren't there either, Sandru, or you would've talked them into paying you for the privilege of pillaging the town." He guffaws and slaps the other man heartily on the back. "But now Merci's old enough to watch the flock, and here we all are being brave adventurers." He flashes a grin at the other folks seated at the table and raises his mug for a toast. "To the brave!"

Kage and a few others backtrack to find what they can on the bandits. . . they pull togethers 5 suits of leather armor, 1 light crossbow, 2 short bows, 5 bolts, 25 arrows, 2 long swords, 3 short swords, 64 gold in mixed coins, an oil of bless weapon, potion of remove fear, and a scroll of hold person.

In addition other salvage equivalent to 1 "cargo unit" (250 g) can be found.

Jiro listens raptly to Misuru's folktales, asking questions about the characters and the cultures the tales originate from. The tengu also makes efforts to introduce himself to Ameiko and her younger sister as well as the caravan master Sandru.

"Why name yourself for the oni?" he asks Rin abruptly one morning. "They are wicked and vile things, unworthy of admiration or emulation. Why create a warrior persona centered around a being who would happily see you and all you hold dear murdered or enslaved? Are there not other mighty warriors you could style yourself after?"

Rin jumped at Jiro's abrupt question, not having noticed the Tengu approaching. "What!? Oh, hi Jiro. Well..." Rin trailed for a moment, not having really considered the question before. "I guess that they are wicked and vile is part of the reason. In the stories they are always the evil, powerful things to beware, to be scared of. I wanted my enemies to be scared of me, to share in the dread they cause others...Also I already had the mask." Rin admits the last part sheepishly.

The impact from the ogre slamming into the caravan sent Rin tumbling off the top of the wagon. Rolling into the landing, Rin slashed at the creatures leg with her blade. "I think we might need another ballista!" Rin shouted to her allies.
