Sounds good, GM...

As far as plotting goes, I'm all for seeing/testing if Daedin can sneak back in if he's feeling brave. They might be on watch for us to come back or, considering how much booty they kicked with their little ambush, they might assume that we're not foolish enough to try it again. Maybe we'll get lucky?
Still feeling well! I've had two consecutive negative rapid swabs so I'm cleared to go back to work tomorrow night.

Thanks for pausing for me. I really appreciate it. Finishing this series means a lot to me; for those of you who don't know, Quiella was part of a season 4 run with GM Harker, but he suddenly passed away. I want to finish it with Quiella in his honor.
I'm still really burnt out. I'm hoping it will pass, but this is still less important to me than getting some other things in my life sorted (hopefully those things will make play by post easier for me also).
Hopefully before New Year's Day I'll be ready to roll some virtual dice again

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or Happy Friday, if you prefer! I hope everyone has/is having a fantabulous day no matter what you're doing or what you celebrate :)
*edit* Also, glad to hear you're still hanging in there, caps. Take it easy and hopefully we'll see you soon!

Just posted this in my other games
After some consideration I have decided I need to take an indefinite hiatus from nearly all of my games. Please continue without me. If that means there is not a spot for me when I return, I will understand. You can bot me or just remove me from scenes as you see fit; whatever is best for the party. If my PC dies due to botting decisions I will not be too aggrieved.
My energy levels are just too low and my burnout and disinterest is just too high. I need to be able to focus on taking care of myself without pressure from myself to return to my games. Things will probably get better once I get into a habit of regular exercise, which could be as soon as a few weeks from now.
Don't worry about me, though. I am doing okay. I live with my wife and 3 kids and that helps keep me from being totally dejected. Taking care of them, spending time with them, etc. Continues to bring a lot of meaning and purpose to me life. I also talk to a therapist every two weeks and have some other friends I keep in touch with.
---
This is one of the only games I plan to keep up with right now. It wouldn't be fair to ask you all to bot Quiella and still get chronicle sheets, not to mention that I would miss out on actually experiencing the scenarios.
Today is my anniversary and the next few days are busy ish. But I will try to post in gameplay soon.

Still here! Good to resume whenever everyone else is~

I am ready to go--or at least give it a try.
Thank you all for waiting so patiently.

Welcome back, caps <3

GM supervillan |

Gameplay is updated with healing tallies using Quiella's Lay on Hands and Lifelink.
Plans you had suggested for returning to the tower included Daedîn scouting alone, and Seldanna summoning assistance.
Go ahead and post your actions and attack that tower :o
By the way, I've decided next time you face the hounds I will roll each of their initiatives separately. Usually with a larger group of enemies I put them in twos or threes in order to keep combat flowing more quickly, but with these bad guys I think I'm going to do them individually. (They may still beat you all, their bonus is high).

I’ve forgotten. Are these things resistance or immune to acid? I’ve got acidic spray memorized that I can tag a few with if they get within 60’.

GM supervillan |

You got a 35 on your knowledge check Pai and determined that Hounds of Tindalos are immune to poison and to mind-affecting effects.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear.
1. I almost never use Lay on Hands except in combat. It is the only means of swift-action self healing I have available. I *need* to have those in combat because Life Link is constantly draining my hp.
2. By "do the math" I meant do the calculations of the entire party's health round-by-round as I heal them with life link, take damage myself via life link, and heal everyone (including Quiella) with channel energy, moving life link around to different targets once people get healed up. Once the channels are used up (or the entire party minus Quiella is healed) she usually switches to Oracle spell slot castings of Cure Light Wounds or someone's wand. This saves the party on wand charges and is very efficient healing, since Quiella gets to apply Fey Foundling when she heals herself. But it takes me a good 10-20 minutes to type it all up and roll all the dice and I just haven't felt up to doing that.

GM supervillan |

^^ no worries Quiella.
Do you want to do that before we go back into the tower, or would you like me to have a stab at it now that I know your modus operandi better?
I'm totally happy to retcon the hash I made!

So, how does the group feel about Seldanna summoning some sort of assistance. Was thinking either an Invisible Stalker to hopefully get in some Combat Reflex assisted AoOs on the hounds, or a Lillend Azata to bring some extra healing and maybe a Sound Burst to slow down the hounds. Or maybe a few Brilani Azata
The only nagging worry is the warning that summoning may be disrupted or wonky here, so something may go wrong with the summon.

GM supervillan |

Channel1: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7
Channel2: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7
Channel3: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
Channel4: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5
Channel5: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9
clw wand charges on Quiella: 10d8 + 30 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 3, 1, 1, 7, 2, 6, 5) + 30 = 67
Wow, Quiella you are not wrong! 5 channels plus 10 clw wand charges in total gets everyone up to full hp. I have done the working offline, happy to show it if you like ;)
If you want to use the last channel instead: channel6: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 that would save 2 wand charges but would leave Daedîn down 2hp off max and Teric 1hp off max (again, working done offline).
So everyone can save their clw and infernal healing charges, apart from deciding how to divide up the 10 charges needed. Inky you also get healed by channels I believe so Nina saves her rejuvenate eidolon charges. Daedin still used 1 charge to get Nina conscious, and Pai and Seldanna have also used the Healing Hex.
Oradins really are awesome at healing.

Thanks, I love how effective Quiella is at healing. You may recall that when we played the scenario with that Thassilonian wizard that tries to wear the party down via attrition by dimension dooring back and forth to different ends of the dungeon: by the time we caught up to him the final time, Quiella had passively healed the party all the way back to full.
I am happy to spend my last channel to save the two wand charges. Or we can save it for a rainy day, so to speak. Up to the party.
--
In preparation for the combat, Quiella says some prayers...
casting divine favor and shield of faith.
Also casting life pact on up to 3 people as they accept it in the following order
Teric
Seldanna
Pai
Nina
DaedinQuiella will be the 4th recipient of the spell
everyone please declare whether you want to participate in the life pact or not. It can save your life but it is not without drawbacks.

GM supervillan |

Now that Seldanna has completed a summoning I can explain a bit about how summoning and calling spells are changed here. Firstly the power of the spells is boosted, in that they summon more powerful entities than they would normally. (A couatl is CR10 for example). But, it takes a Caster Level check to maintain control of the summoned creature - failing to to control the creature has negative consequences, although an uncontrolled summons that appears in the midst of a group of enemies might still be useful to you in some circumstances. You only make the CL check once, when the creature appears, and it is more difficult for higher level summoning spells.
Seldanna, here is your couatl. Since you can communicate with it, you can give it complex instructions. Empowered scorching ray looks like a decent attack (as a full round action).
I'll roll initiative later today. Everyone make your Life Pact decisions, all of Quiella's spells will be considered cast before initiative.

![]() |

Nina is happy to forgo a Life Pact in favor of her slightly-squishier companions :)

GM supervillan |

the Couatl could turn invisible and then try to charm the hounds...
A reminder that you know that the hounds are immune to mind-affecting effects :(

![]() |

In for a penny, in for a pound. Debated about what to do, but went all in and decided to dash towards one of the adjoining tunnels and hopefully limit the hounds approach...and hopefully the couatl will be coming to draw their attention as well...also, if any casters have area spells, hopefully I’ll be out of the target area...

![]() |

Dang, I was hopin’ their haste was a once daily thing...I may have been over ambitious...to quote Dean Wormer, ”I really hate those guys...”

GM supervillan |

It's been a really busy Monday, folks. I'll aim to get an update in tomorrow. (The couatl's two rays hit btw).

(The couatl's two rays hit btw).
So all the Hounds of Tindalos see this, they flee the wrath of the great and ferocious Couatl, and exit the Tower with their tails tucked between their legs...right, GM?
<Ahem> GM...right?

![]() |

all of Quiella's spells will be considered cast before initiative.
I already posted some spells in gameplay right? Haven't looked at it yet to avoid metagaming. My list would be life pact + divine favor + shield of faith + wand of shield (I probably forgot to mention that one in gameplay if my memory is right)

GM supervillan |

By "all of Quiella's spells" I was referring to the one's you'd already posted, which where life pact, divine favour and shield of faith.
You've had all the time you wanted to prepare though so I'm fine with you adding Shield from your wand to that list, no problem :)

![]() |

Thanks.

![]() |

Dang, these hounds can do that ‘move thru the hole’ thingie and still full attack while entangled? Daedîn‘s a dead Elf walking then...so much for my trading space for time plan...

![]() |

Oh, sorry, GM, I wasn’t doubting it could or asking for an explanation; I know you’re rarely wrong when it comes to the rules...it was more like, ‘damn, is there anything these hounds can’t do...’
I noticed when the blue hound ‘holed’ in front of me, it only attacked once...was there a reason for that or were you just being kind? :)
I wonder why this scenario gave these hounds the advanced template...even at high tier I think they could’ve still kicked our ass without it. Do these hounds show up in any other scenarios?

GM supervillan |

Oh, I was mainly commiserating with you :o
On the first round the hounds appear from their watching places I mostly will have them vital strike instead of full attack, because generally they won't have an absolute fix on your location so a move action after the initial teleport feels appropriate. Against flyers (as long as the flyer is more than 5' in the air) the Hounds are always forced to take a move action to air walk up because they can't teleport into mid air.
I know of one other scenario where a singular Hound appears, but it's a tier 3-7.
And I think that the Advanced template is often worth more than +1CR, it really depends on what kind of creature it is applied to.

![]() |

I killed one! :)
Seriously though, only 1 didn't make both saves. I was hoping to get at least 2. I'm glad I stuck the Rime on there.
